Hey there all you awesome people how are you all today ? Some subscriber stuff melted today and a few fails but a fun time all round . A heap of fan mail opening after the video so stick around if your curious, thanks for dropping by and I hope you enjoy today's fun & fails. Have a happy safe weekend and see all you beautiful people next week👋🏻😃
Just got off work 10 minutes ago at 1:35 am, sipping on my whiskey, gonna call out tomorrow, Not gonna work another 14 hour day after seven days of this.
I've noticed you tend to get holes in your bars in the same place where the graphite accumulates - it might be oxidising and generating gas, which causes the bubbles. Might be better to use a brush and actually brush a thin layer of graphite over the whole mould instead.
And I've noticed that he gets holes(specially the ugly ones)everytimes he uses iron molds, I've been watching his melts for almost 2 years now and I've always noticed copper with iron mold doesn't go well but the bars look great when he uses graphite molds
I'm a former boilermaker and I've always had a certain attraction for copper, I don't know why precisely but its color, its "warmth", its malleability have always made it the "metal" I prefer and that hasn't changed despite the years without being able to practice my craft anymore, I love to see your castings of this precious red metal, especially when you melt pieces as clean as this one at the beginning of the video, no impurities to "spoil" the beauty of the casting, it's fluid, homogeneous and a bit like molten lava ❤ On the other hand, I'm not a fan of holes like those that appear at the bottom of your bars, and I would certainly have remelted the ingots too.
Im psyched to see you so close to the goal!! Been watching for a while now and i love that i've never one time heard a voice or seen the face of a human. I love your work, dogs and video style. Keep it up man there is no way on gods green earth that i'm the only one grateful to have this content to relax and fall sleep to.
The fact that BigStack doesn't show his face or speak makes the content about what he is doing, rather than who he is. Nearly 1one and a half million people like this content enough to subscribe so he must be doing something right.
He is pretty good about not showing his face. He even pays attention to reflections. Because am always looking to see if he slips up. However there is one video where you hear his voice. He is feeding the dogs and he says to them “all gone”. That is the only time I have ever heard it though.
@@1982Ford1991 Would you happen to know which episode you can hear him in? I know he speaks in his early videos, but I'd be interested in seeing the one you mentioned.
And since it was a baby snake they always put out more venom than adults. they have not learned control and put it all out. Kind of like teenager on prom night
Only 10 kg to go, I can’t wait to see the BigStackD restarted, it’s going to be awesome. I love seeing all the stuff sent in by our amazing subscribers, keep it coming. Thanks for all the amazing content, mate. Stay safe3 and we’ll see you on the next one.
No worries buddy U2 awesome man. Don’t get too messed up like I will and speak with you soon my friend. When I was filming just before your super thanks popped up on my watch so it might show in next week‘s video👍🏻
Bubbling in molds isn't likely just water, but also traces of leftover wax. The flaming upon pouring makes it even more obvious. I'd add gypsum...as in wall board....to your plaster, as well as some sand. Tinker with the recipe till it works well for you, then make sure you heat the molds to the wax's boiling point, and hold it there for a few hours to make sure you get rid of it all. It should help a bit if you pour into hot molds too.
I don't view the idol casting as a fail. To me I view it as an antique from hundreds or even thousands of years ago. Something that was pulled out of the ground by archeologists. It gives it character and *shouldn't* be perfect if you view it like that. Me personally, I love how it turned out!
So relaxing to just kick back and watch one of your videos. My favorites are the large melts I just love seeing the stacks of bars. I appreciate your work 😁🫡
I am glad you show us when things don't go to plan, I am not saying I like it when things go wrong for you, but it is nice to know you are not perfect. It give hope to us aspiring melters when we go wrong. 👍👍👍👍👍
bigstackd their not fails, their abstract art, perfect imperfections. Love the fact you will still do a video even if you think it’s a failure. Keep up the great work.
experience is the best teacher. sometimes we are experts until something happens that says otherwise. you Mr.Big are an inspiring teacher. who can say how many pupils you have inspired to melt metal. I am one. Thank you Boss.
It was neat seeing the old garage again. I remember watching many a video from you while working from there. You've expanded out, and come a long way with things, and all the items you've melted. It's going to be so awesome to see you reach your weight goal finally. Fridays usually suck, but seeing a new video of yours waiting for me to watch makes Friday not so bad. Thank you for all the great content, humor, sarcasm, and the pups!
What I like about you is that you don't give up. You will just try again untill it works. Melt and pour and again and in the end there will be two great little statues. I am glad I am here to see your learning curve. It's loads of fun.
I love seeing all the rain you've been getting. We've had so many days over 110 F with no end in sight, it's just nice to see it's cool and rainy somewhere in the world!
Great video, i love the copper melts, when you said the dog figure melts were bad i expected much worse than they were. Soon you have kiln mastery and get rid of the moisture issue for good! Take care, have a great week!
I always wake up early Friday morning to watch ur vids b4 work puts a smile on my face. Thanks for another one stackd and keep them coming and have an awesome week
BigStackD, thanks for the nice wedding anniversary melt today! Huh? Oh, it is my wife and I 44th wedding anniversary! We were married in an outdoor wedding on August 4, 1979! The temperature was 82 degrees Farenheit (27.8 Celsius). In case anyone wonders, we live in the State of Ohio, USA. Obviously, our seasons are the opposite of Australia's seasons. Still wondering what you will do when you hit 1,000 tonnes of your melts. Have a great day and weekend and keep on smelting!
Yes it’s very true and I know this video would’ve upset quite a few people but at the end of the day the guy that purchased it send it to me to add it to the stack so that’s what I do🤔
Metal is recyclable. That clean copper will get sold and turned right back into something similar. The person who sent it to him, as well as other viewers, might get offended if he used or sold the stuff they sent him to scrap. Have a great day!
Great video as always. I love how that copper freezes from the edge to the middle in seconds. And a good ice melting segment. Lot of slag dust on that brass melt. Lot of rain down where y'all live. I wish it rained more here in California. Keep it up, brother!
Another thing you might try to make your molds out of is ceramic sculpting clay. You can get it at any ceramic craft stores. It can be thinned with water, can can be poured like plaster of paris. But it will allow for better evaporation of water, as it will not solidify and hold water like plaster of paris will. Edit: I remember that the type of casting is called lost wax casting. The mold is put into an oven to melt the wax. Then when the wax has melted out, the mold is left in the oven to cook off any leftover wax. The baking removes any excess moisture. Sorry I can't provide you with more info. But a search on line should get the info for you. Good luck on the next pour.
I see the stray bullet casing fall out of the crucible and watch to see if you miss it, but you never do. Good attention to detail. And your doggy timer I see what you did there.
Hey D, how's it going? Poor Ingot, I feel bad for him. You are finally about to teach your goal set several years ago. That's gotta feel good. The dog that looked like it's head blew up is actually pretty cool looking. I hate to know you're going to melt all those forgein coins down. Coins are one of my hobbies. I can promise you that was a whole heck of a lot more than $15US for all those fittings 😅 I know how it all works as I’ve been scrapping brass, aluminum and copper for years now. It’s just crazy. Thoroughly enjoy watching your videos that’s for sure!! Been on this journey for a while now and I honestly have zero clue how I came across but damn glad I did. Do you think maybe the powdered graphite might lead to those holes in the bar??? Is the graphite powder really worth it?

👍👌👏 Exactly my thoughts too. I would definitely use a brush or at least a very fine nozzle.
Best regards, luck and health in particular.
We're on the precipice of melting history. The anticipation after all of this time is great!
