    WHY I OFTEN DON'T MENTION OTHER BRANDS IN MY VIDEOS.
    You may have noticed that I often don't mention the original brands that watches I am reviewing pay homage to. This is very intentional and not meant to offend you or the original brands. I lost my first channel in October 2020 which I had spent 9 months growing and invested a significant amount of money in simply because I had mentioned the original brands in some of my videos. There are people who try to use RUclipss lack of understanding when it comes to the difference between homage watches and fake watches to attack other channels and their owners and sadly I fell foul of this in 2020. This channel was also attacked recently and RUclips deleted content simply because I had said 'subby homage' and 'Rolex homage' in two videos despite the watches in the videos being perfectly legal homage watches. Please understand that I can not afford to risk my channel so I will no longer be mentioning other brands when reviewing homage watches.

    This is the ST1812 movement to be exact, not the ST18. It's a great movement but it's not an exact clone. The Cal. ST1812 differs from ETA’s Cal. 2892A2 in a few ways. It uses a fixed pin balance, a slotted excentric in its regulator, and attaches its balance bridge with friction fit pins, not a screw. Its fourth wheel has six spokes, not eight, and positions the winding jewel on the post bearing. Some versions also include an extra jewel for the barrel arbor. I haven't serviced one but I've taken one enough apart to see it comes very well oiled from the factory and all the parts slot in with very good tolerances. Crazy value for money.

    • @ilikewatches

      The names are often shortened to two numbers as it encompasses all the variations of that particular movement, they even refer to it as the ST18

    • @slashdotism
      @slashdotism Год назад +32

      @@ilikewatches Yes they do for simplicity but generally the ST18 refers to the older model which had a few issues that the ST1812 doesn't have. The old ST18 also had 23 jewels compared to the 21 jewels of the ST1812 and the ETA 2892. I know I'm just being overscrupulous but this is the internet after all ;)

    Such a beautiful movement! Wish they packed it in more watches... However, I started to fancy the hangzhou movements more lately, especially the 7series with 4hz and 72hr power reserve and the 5series micro rotor movements. I love the effort of innovation they put in and as affordable watch enthusiasts we should support that I believe. Would be awesome if you made a video comparing watches with all the different movements you got in your arsenal 😊

    Whoa, it is a very elegant watch, though price-wise is already in the range of some swiss watches, like Tissot or Certina, not like other "Ali-watches".
    And its price is sadly not justified to me, seeing the deficiencies... Mineral crystal on the caseback? I would expect that from Seiko watch for half of the price...
    Also bracelet, while nice, should be better designed at this price point. I mean my PRX at least has half - links...
    Still, it is a beautiful watch, no argument here. I don't know much about the caliber it uses, but that's usually what sets the base price, before everything else, so maybe the watch actually IS worth the money. The movement finishing is welcome, but then again perlage is a very basic pattern, not that hard or expensive to make.

    At first glance it looks interesting but the bezel(s) just looks odd. The crown guard held on with two tiny screws, how much strength is in them if it actually has to protect the crown from a biff, probably the reason they are gererally machined from a solid lump of metal, then there's that fairly useless bracelet and the price. You don't have to look very hard to get a better watch for your cash but the Seagull is a bit more unusual than a Tissot or Seiko would be.
