    The Casio Oceanus, Citizen Chronomaster and GS 9F lines don’t get enough credit among watch enthusiasts because of the anti-quartz snobbery, although they are fantastic watches.

    I bought the first Bluetooth Casio about 9 years ago, the EQB-500D-1. This was before I started collecting watches. I have worn it about 8 years straight. Did everything with it. The quality of this solar watch is amazing, so is the advanced movement. I trust Casio more than any other brand to deliver quality watches.

      @@JRMcGrail If I lived in a place with atomic clock radio signal, I would choose the S100. Just wears better as it is slightly smaller imo. As I live in Australia and we have no atomic clock signal, I would choose the T200 as it will sync to your phone with Bluetooth.

    I own the green version of this watch for two years now and I love it. Casio don't specify it but I believe there is a hardening coating on the steel. After two years there is no mark on it, and this includes the clasp. But I agree about the latter. It's the worst part of the watch.

    • @hattyfarbuckle
      @hattyfarbuckle 11 месяцев назад +3

      My two TAGs (early 90s and late 00s) both have pressed clasps. I actually like the much thinner fold and maybe the bracelets have enough weight to stop them feeling unbalanced.

    • @AlexanderB.
      @AlexanderB. 11 месяцев назад +4

      @hattyfarbuckle Yeah, but the issue with this Oceanus clasp is the outer shell. It gives off a rather cheap impression and it sounds a bit rattly, it certainly doesn't match the rest of the watch.

    I have 2 Oceanus watches. I’ve has a OCW S100 for over a year and I just picked up an OCW T5000 (I wanted a square watch). Both watches are titanium, and the finish work on the titanium is fantastic. As a matter of fact, it’s really close to my GS SBGA413. The T5000 has a dial that’s a bit busy for my tastes, but it not a deal breaker. The S100 on the other hand is about as close to a perfect daily wear watch as I can imagine, it’s a no fuss unit with a solar quartz movement (no changing the battery and compromising its water resistance) that has Radio time setting, automatic dst, and a perpetual calendar so you never have to futz around with setting it. Casio uses a proprietary coating on the metal, and my S100 is scratch free. And it looks great on the wrist. I have too many watches (according to some folks in my life lol), and there is something magical about the mechanical marvels called watches that make me prefer my automatic and mechanical watches more that these. But If all you want is a wristwatch that is functional and good looking, look no farther than a lower end Oceanus.

  • @grahamliggat7193
    @grahamliggat7193 11 месяцев назад +18

    I have the S100 and the advantage there for just a little more is titanium (but no Bluetooth) which really adds to the comfortable wear as it’s so light. Completely agree that as you go up the price range they become pretty awful with busy chronograph dials and crazy prices. No idea what that’s all about and blue blue blue seems to be the theme of the Oceanus range. So yes not great if you don’t like blue. Be interesting to see your head to head comparison with the Seiko.
    V best and have a good Christmas

    I have a T200 and absolutely love it. The level of polishing is better than anything I've seen by Tissot, Hamilton, Mido, or Certina. Watches that generally cost more. That being said I have seen the more expensive models up close and the amount of sparkling reflections you get off those are next level. Those watches sparkle like diamonds under a light. Definitely not for anyone who prefers to go a little under the radar. If you want a watch that's going to impress you? A high end Oceanus is seriously hard to beat.

  • @dutch3000
    @dutch3000 5 месяцев назад +2

    This T200 is something special. Really a beauty and the quality is far above her paygrade - extremly high and those floating markers are a sight to see. A hot contender for that one watch collection without a doubt - if you can live with the Casio name and don´t need a status symbol. Only the clasp ... it´s not bad but a little bulky. So what. Funny sidenote: I went to rome last year. Nobody gave a f.. about my Omega but I spoke with two lads about that 350€ watch - pretty sure at least one of them bought the T200 right after that. So, just go for it.

    This T200S is the oceanus that most people refer to outside japan really, with maybe a few others like the S100 or this one in green also being mentioned. There is a lineage model LCW-M100TSE with some extra quirks like a small digital screen, that overall serves much the same purpose as this oceanus but at an even lower price, without the expensive case polishing and being in titanium.

    The Titanium S100 is possibly the best balance of quality, accuracy, materials, and sheer value for money it is possible to buy in the watch world. The T200 is a close second, marred only by the use of stainless steel in my opinion.

    I purchased this model exactly a year ago. It was quite a punt as I purchased it without trying it first as it had to be imported from Japan. It sits as the lower end of my collection from a price point of view but I love it for travelling and accuracy. The majority of my watches are mechanical and it’s always nice to have a reference piece. I immediately removed the bracelet and added a rather nice nylon strap from watchgecko so I can’t comment on the wearability of the bracelet

    I've looked at this model Oceanus (and the S100) for a couple of years now, and recently became aware of the SBTM341 from Seiko (which uses the same movement as some of the budget Seiko Astron models like the SBXY031). I'm torn s to which I like best and want to buy, but I'll probably go for the SBTM due to the slightly smaller size and Titanium build.
    That said, I think watches like this make perfect daily wear watches due to solar quartz and radio timekeeping, and good travel watches for the same reason.

      @GusAudibert 11 месяцев назад +2

      I read somewhere !!
      When I hold down the A button, the second hand only ever points to C, and never RC.
      I've unpaired the watch from my phone via the app, and it still points to C, searching for a Bluetooth connection. I've left it unpaired for a few days hoping it will start looking for radio signals instead, but no luck. Synchronisation check is always an N. I've had a Lineage waveceptor in the same area and it picked up the time signal without any trouble. I'm sure the Oceanus can too, but it's more interested in looking for a phone.
      EDIT: I've figured it out! This isn't in the manual. To wipe previous bluetooth pairings (the app does not do this properly): pull the crown out to two clicks, hold the A button for ten seconds and the second hand should point to C. After this, click in, hit A again, and the hand will point to RC.
      OR 😀
      To get the watch to forget the last phone it was paired with:
      Pull the crown to the second click Hold button A for at least 10 seconds
      This deletes the pairing information, the hand should point to C
      Now push in the crown.
      If you trigger a manual sync now the second hand should point to RC

    Interesting 🤔. Excellent look at their steel finishing. I would like you to have a look at the titanium ocw-t150-1ajf or ocw-t150-2ajf (dark or light dials). I would really like to see youre comments on this one. This is the one (1ajf) i kept, after trying the other “clean” models. Strongly recommended.
    Informative and entertaining video as always. Thanks ☺️🎄🎆

    I just noticed that this watch has the European CE marking and the UK UKCA marking on the back but Oceanus are Japan only watches. That's weird that they'd spend money on testing and paperwork to then make it Japan only. Maybe it was originally meant to be an international watch?

      @@Unlucky1776 If you are not afraid of putting in a bit of elbow grease, you can always go the EBAY route and buy an aftermarket one. You will need some sanding and polishing skills, but you can easily bring one to the same quality if you're willing. On average they cost around $25 with the more expensive ones needing less work. But yeah. long story short. Rolex oyster bracelets use a 9mm link in the center to connect the clasp. this happens to be the exact size as oceanus bracelets. least this one.

    I was disappointed with my t200s; it struggled to receive radio signal while my radio Seikos had no problem and the app was clunky and didn't always connect. I also found the indices too large and that the hands just look awkward. For all the watch enthusiast love, I flipped mine without regret.
