Imagine this. Instead of Rannoch, you're on Earth, in London (inside that cleared no-man's land). Instead of random destroyer, Harbinger lands by that citadel transport pad (as he does in the actual ending) and starts shooting shit up. Shepard has said spotting laser on him, and he has to paint Harbinger for the combined human/turian/quarian/geth/asari fleets to shoot down. Bonus points if he gives it to a squadmate, since Harbinger would be completely thrown off, assuming that Shep HAS to be the one with the device. Harbinger slowly bears down on you on the ground, you have to defend a squadmate painting the target while simultaneously fighting off wave after wave of husks and Harbinger beam spamming all over the place. The game mechanics themselves would basically be a timed survival encounter (like Grunt's loyalty mission). Except this time, you have all your squadmates from across all 3 games fighting alongside you. Ashley/Kaidan, Liara, Garrus, Tali, Wrex, Jacob, Miranda, Zaeed, Kasumi, Grunt, Jack, Samara, EDI, Javik, and James. I would include the likes of Mordin, Legion, and Thane if they were alive. Maybe throw in some other guest star badasses like Kirrahe and Anderson. And all the while this music is playing. #WhatCouldHaveBeen

This song makes it a lot easier to accept that Mass Effect 3 didn't have a final epic last stand boss battle like you would've expected. But the reaper on rannoch is, for all intents and purposes, the final boss battle of the trilogy. It was symbolic, that there was still a way to stop the reapers, of shepards individual influence on the war, and that the galaxy could unite to destroy the ultimate foe.
Excluding war assets crap, multiplayer infulence on campaingn and the ending, ME3 was really nowhere a dissapointment. Plus, I am willing to fool myself and accept the indoctrination theory, then I'm really fucking satisfied with the ending.
***** Multiplayer involvement wasn't a bad idea IMHO. It was free (on PC at least), Helped us see the war from multiple perspectives (not only Shepard and his/her crew fought this war) so to me, it was something that only added to the game experience. And Reaper War is the best war if you face it alongside three friends, which I do a lot.

Personally, I would have liked the beam scene to include a shit ton of cruisers and fighters shooting at harbinger, and massive screen blindingly bright explosions going left and right. If they had put that in there, I would be ok with the ending. Also to have this music playing. And then cutscenes the Normandy flies in and delivers the all star killing blow. Can you imagine?

If we exclude the final Marauder you 'fight' in Priority Earth, fighting that reaper on Rannoch was the very last true boss fight (Kai Lame doesn't count.)

While an awesome theme, it is missing something... Oh yeah. Blowing the shit out of a Reaper Destroyer with orbital bombardment, Shepard running around like an ADD kid high on sugar, and the sound of the targeting lock.
Folks, I am just playing ME series, and you can't even imagine how incredible this game is. This soundtrack is the quintessence of heroic nature of the game and its beauty. Love it so much.
ME3 by far. The main theme by Clint Mansell makes for the greatest cinematic moment of all three games, and all around it is an excellent mix of the dramatic orchestration preferred in ME2 and the futuristic synth preferred in ME1. Then again, many of the good themes used, such as this (Sovereign's Themes), Uncharted Worlds, I Was Lost Without You, Vigil, etc. are from ME1, so that would probably be the most iconic.
I've just realized something AMAZING. Everybody now look at the reaper in the image closely: IT HAS THE SHAPE OF THE FACE OF SAREN ARTERIUS. Everything: the arc above the nose, the typical turian mouth, even the horns at the side are the same as saren's!!!
It's only your perception that makes you believe you see Saren on the face of the Reaper. This is just so irrelevant, those two cannot, in any way, have any relations to each other as the Reapers' image is, of course, the image of the Leviathans. I understand you're just saying that you see it, but you put it as if it were a fact it got me to react like this, lol.
Kudos for those who fired the main weapons from outer space, their accuracy is remarkable; putting those piercing rounds in a 10x10 m blank from over 60miles away outside of a freaking planet, taking in consideration the effect of the asmosphere drag, the planetary wind currents and the rotation speed so as the traslation in the system ; pulling such a massive stunt is just as crazy as running towards a steel giant armed only with a laser pointer.
hands down me3 has the best soundtrack. awesome new original tracks, and great re-arrangements of previously used tracks and such. stayed to it's roots, and was only over the top epic when needed. great score.
Shepard was a goddamned tank, he was a normal human with a very few cybernetic enhancements and he took on hordes upon hordes of reapers and then fought a collosal interstellar one and won, rallied the whole Galaxy, made enemies work together and destepyed a primordial threat that sterilised the Milky way from intelligent life countless of times
It was actually shown that the Armor of a reaper is very weak (One cruiser round being able to break off a limb), while their Kinetic barriers are insanely strong. Heat-based weapons play hell with Reaper hulls, such as the Thanix and Lasers.
Harbinger is the most powerful, largest and most inelegant of all the Reapers probably because it's "core" was based after Leviathans, the most advanced organic race ever. Every Reaper is produced by harvesting a different species, so it's logical to assume they all may not be equally strong. Yet it doesn't mean you can fight a big Reaper without bringing a whole fleet.
If you ask me, the less we know about the Illusive man, the better. Being mysterious is what makes him so interesting. Harbinger should've been defeated the same way sovereign was. With the power of friendship!...And well calibrated thanix cannons!
You haven't truly lived until you kill a giant evil robot. Mass Effect 3 may not have had the most triumphant ending, but victory over the final guardian of the Reapers makes it all worth it.
There are many ways you can fight an enemy like that. Merely shooting at it would suck. But climbing up its side and attacking weak points, breaking inside its superstructure, battling inside the mind, pounding it with every single weapon you've aquired over the game, or merely just ramming it with the Normandy? Those would have been awesome.
It makes perfect sense in game logic: indoctrination. Remember guys. They came out with about 3-4 additional soundtracks from the ME2 game. Once the DLC is released this summer, I'd be willing to bet you have the same thing happen.
Thing is we already know about him. The whole backstory of who he is was written in a 4 issue comic called ME: Evolution. Basically,you can thank Saren (yet again) and his brother for creating the more mysterious human terrorist in the series.
My first time playthrough, I did the same thing, but on my second playthrough, I made sure that I had enough points to save them all. And we marched together...to victory!
Something tells me that a Reaper would be able to tell if somebody got inside it and would rapidly indoctrinate them. Sure, it would reduce them to mindless drones but it'd stop them dead in their tracks. Also, ramming it with the Normandy? Yeah, that seems like a smart move.
I was never the biggest FPS fan. I tend to play them from time to time with friends usually for an occasion. Halo 2 was a tradition among my friends for a good while, didnt really care for 3. My favorite genre is Horror games (A true dying breed.) Followed by Action adventure games like Uncharted. And then RPGs like Final Fantasy and Mass Effect. Im just realizing that my first comment was flagged... wow.
I dont care about the ending, i dont care about the picture or the progress bar or anything EA decided to throw in, i dont care that this game was kind of rushed or any of that shit. I have never felt as much horrible guilt in my life till this extremely emotional part of the game when tali confessed her love and I didn't do all of the rannoch missions and ended up killer her and her entire species. I have never felt as strongly about anything in all of video game history. Game of the damn year.
reading all these comments that you all are writing talking about the quarians and geth just goes to show just how great a job bioware did in making us care for these characters. Not many games can do that. I literally had to stop and battle myself with what choices i had to make in the game..knowing that repercussions would happen. truly EPIC!!
Does anyone think that it was possible that the Reapers had a civil war amongst themselves at any point in their existence? For instance, a few Reaper capital ships disagreed with the overall objective of wiping out organics every 50,000 years and decided to rebel or break into a separate faction, similar to the Geth heretics.
Likely not, at least as far as I know. The Reapers are the pinnacle of AI, created for a single task- to destroy advanced organics, not reason with them. Also, the Geth were persuaded to join the Reapers because they saw them as gods, the Reapers have no one to look up to.

When they achieved sentience they were able to learn and grow at an exponential rate and centuries later split into separate factions. I find it kind of strange that the Reapers would not have done the same thing. Seems as though they are more bound by their primary programming than the Geth. Almost as if the Reapers aren't capable of learning and expanding beyond their primary objective to consider other, more viable options. Which is odd because of the way they present themselves in the game--as superior. Even with the Catalyst controlling the Reapers, why would this learning capacity have not been possible before the Crucible?

This was originally their primary programming. Civil wars would be counter intuitive. But then Drew Karpyshyn (The lead writer of ME1 and ME2) got reassigned to SWTOR and then we got the Mac Walters retarded synthetic v organic storyline.

Folks, I am just playing ME series, and you can't even imagine how incredible this game is. This soundtrack is the quintessence of heroic nature of the game and its beauty. Love it so much.
ME3 by far. The main theme by Clint Mansell makes for the greatest cinematic moment of all three games, and all around it is an excellent mix of the dramatic orchestration preferred in ME2 and the futuristic synth preferred in ME1. Then again, many of the good themes used, such as this (Sovereign's Themes), Uncharted Worlds, I Was Lost Without You, Vigil, etc. are from ME1, so that would probably be the most iconic.

I've just realized something AMAZING. Everybody now look at the reaper in the image closely: IT HAS THE SHAPE OF THE FACE OF SAREN ARTERIUS. Everything: the arc above the nose, the typical turian mouth, even the horns at the side are the same as saren's!!!

It's only your perception that makes you believe you see Saren on the face of the Reaper. This is just so irrelevant, those two cannot, in any way, have any relations to each other as the Reapers' image is, of course, the image of the Leviathans. I understand you're just saying that you see it, but you put it as if it were a fact it got me to react like this, lol.
Kudos for those who fired the main weapons from outer space, their accuracy is remarkable; putting those piercing rounds in a 10x10 m blank from over 60miles away outside of a freaking planet, taking in consideration the effect of the asmosphere drag, the planetary wind currents and the rotation speed so as the traslation in the system ; pulling such a massive stunt is just as crazy as running towards a steel giant armed only with a laser pointer.

hands down me3 has the best soundtrack. awesome new original tracks, and great re-arrangements of previously used tracks and such. stayed to it's roots, and was only over the top epic when needed. great score.

Shepard was a goddamned tank, he was a normal human with a very few cybernetic enhancements and he took on hordes upon hordes of reapers and then fought a collosal interstellar one and won, rallied the whole Galaxy, made enemies work together and destepyed a primordial threat that sterilised the Milky way from intelligent life countless of times

It was actually shown that the Armor of a reaper is very weak (One cruiser round being able to break off a limb), while their Kinetic barriers are insanely strong. Heat-based weapons play hell with Reaper hulls, such as the Thanix and Lasers.
This fight is my favorite part of the trilogy.
Harbinger is the most powerful, largest and most inelegant of all the Reapers probably because it's "core" was based after Leviathans, the most advanced organic race ever. Every Reaper is produced by harvesting a different species, so it's logical to assume they all may not be equally strong.
Yet it doesn't mean you can fight a big Reaper without bringing a whole fleet.

You haven't truly lived until you kill a giant evil robot. Mass Effect 3 may not have had the most triumphant ending, but victory over the final guardian of the Reapers makes it all worth it.

Best part of the Rannoch mission is the Geth coming out of the ground before the fight against the reaper.
There are many ways you can fight an enemy like that. Merely shooting at it would suck.
But climbing up its side and attacking weak points, breaking inside its superstructure, battling inside the mind, pounding it with every single weapon you've aquired over the game, or merely just ramming it with the Normandy? Those would have been awesome.

Thing is we already know about him. The whole backstory of who he is was written in a 4 issue comic called ME: Evolution. Basically,you can thank Saren (yet again) and his brother for creating the more mysterious human terrorist in the series.

Something tells me that a Reaper would be able to tell if somebody got inside it and would rapidly indoctrinate them. Sure, it would reduce them to mindless drones but it'd stop them dead in their tracks. Also, ramming it with the Normandy? Yeah, that seems like a smart move.

I was never the biggest FPS fan. I tend to play them from time to time with friends usually for an occasion. Halo 2 was a tradition among my friends for a good while, didnt really care for 3. My favorite genre is Horror games (A true dying breed.) Followed by Action adventure games like Uncharted. And then RPGs like Final Fantasy and Mass Effect.

I dont care about the ending, i dont care about the picture or the progress bar or anything EA decided to throw in, i dont care that this game was kind of rushed or any of that shit. I have never felt as much horrible guilt in my life till this extremely emotional part of the game when tali confessed her love and I didn't do all of the rannoch missions and ended up killer her and her entire species. I have never felt as strongly about anything in all of video game history. Game of the damn year.

reading all these comments that you all are writing talking about the quarians and geth just goes to show just how great a job bioware did in making us care for these characters. Not many games can do that. I literally had to stop and battle myself with what choices i had to make in the game..knowing that repercussions would happen. truly EPIC!!

Does anyone think that it was possible that the Reapers had a civil war amongst themselves at any point in their existence? For instance, a few Reaper capital ships disagreed with the overall objective of wiping out organics every 50,000 years and decided to rebel or break into a separate faction, similar to the Geth heretics.
Likely not, at least as far as I know. The Reapers are the pinnacle of AI, created for a single task- to destroy advanced organics, not reason with them. Also, the Geth were persuaded to join the Reapers because they saw them as gods, the Reapers have no one to look up to.

I understand that as far as the game's context is concerned. But even the Geth were created with a singular purpose as a source of cheap labor. When they achieved sentience they were able to learn and grow at an exponential rate and centuries later split into separate factions. I find it kind of strange that the Reapers would not have done the same thing. Seems as though they are more bound by their primary programming than the Geth. Almost as if the Reapers aren't capable of learning and expanding beyond their primary objective to consider other, more viable options. Which is odd because of the way they present themselves in the game--as superior. Even with the Catalyst controlling the Reapers, why would this learning capacity have not been possible before the Crucible?

jamilah razzaq The original plotline for the purpose of the Reapers was to find a solution to save the galaxy from Dark Energy killing stars. Using the combined knowledge of assimilated species. This was originally their primary programming. Civil wars would be counter intuitive.
But then Drew Karpyshyn (The lead writer of ME1 and ME2) got reassigned to SWTOR and then we got the Mac Walters retarded synthetic v organic storyline.

Ha now I feel silly for asking my question because I completely forgot about that. I wish Drew never left, it would have been very interesting to see what kind of ending they could've come up with had he stayed on the team. Walters plot was ridiculous, I wonder why they couldn't have just got permission to use Drew's idea after he left? Would've been very interesting to use dark energy in the conclusion.
