I like that Tesla car’s navigation, now shows symbols for signals, stop signs, and speed cameras on your route. Hopefully all mapping systems will do this for other cars. 👍🏻👍🏻
The whole thing about not able to park within 20 feet of crosswalk is nothing new. I'm pretty sure most places i have driven to have signs that say "no parking ->" at most crosswalks. I didn't know it's for visibility, i have always thought that's meant for people to like do a quick drop-off and pickup instead of double parking which holds up the traffic.
We don't have such signs in The Netherlands: legislation is just pretty simple, parking within 5 meters (17 feet) in front or behind a pedestrian crossing is just not allowed. There are no signs stating the obvious. Police is quite strict on this, just because it limits the view so much and thus poses danger to users of the pedestrian crossing.
the parking close to a crosswalk is odd... how about citing the pedestrian that is too busy to look up from their phone while crossing a street/crosswalk? Many pedestrians in SF cross the street without ever pausing and looking in each direction to make sure it is safe; they just cross expecting whatever vehicle (car, bus, truck) to just do an immediate stop. I also find it interesting when new laws come about at the start of a new year that I don't recall were ever on a voting ballot.
I don't know how California legislation looks at pedestrians (I'm Dutch) but in The Netherlands, a pedestrian is basically someone who does not need to know any law regarding traffic (which is a bit weird, considering there are signs prohibiting pedestrian traffic beyond that point). I understand your point (and it's a big problem here as well) but here a pedestrian most likely can not be cited for failing to pay attention negotiating a pedestrian crossing.
Because car companies stopped selling small cars and everything is a huge SUV now (because of government regulation) when you are walking on a sidewalk you literally cannot see if a car is coming or not until you are in the lane where you can get hit.
To sum up: - Another way to take money from drivers. - Reducing already limited parking spaces. - Three laws that will do absolutely nothing to stop converter theft, though one of them will add another expense to every car purchase.
So you want to be able to break the law and not face punishment for it but you also want people to be punished for breaking the law?? I'm confused why are you against enforcing speeding laws in a way that frees up officers to go enforce other laws like catalytic converter theft
That's going to be the kick in the dick, much like a fire hydrant doesn't need to have red paint to ticket/tow you if you park too close no one is going to paint curbs it'll fall into the "ignorance of the law is no excuse" category and cities will absolutely f*cking rake in fines
In SF is not like people actually follow the laws. Double parked cars, cars parked on the sidewalk, cars blocking the sidewalk, people running red lights and stop signs because they're just truly awful ghetto, and etc.
Where they put in the red light cameras they should also be required to put in the count down timers like they have in Asia so you can avoid being in the middle of an intersection when the light turns red.
Years ago I realized it is safer to walk on the interior perimeter of a crosswalk to give drivers a greater buffer zone to stop and be seen when a car is making a right against a red light.
Does this mean people who take catalytic converters are allowed to take 8 per day without getting in trouble.

no, criminals don't care if there is number etched on the catalyst converters. thye will simply send the stolen to different states. The woke politicians came up with this stoopid law to fool the foolish california voters. THis law is useless, totally , completley.
Yeah they should put speed bumps every 10 yards or so or increase the fines 5x !
true, but redoing roads costs way more and takes a lot longer than putting up some cameras
@@jojothetasmaniansassmonkey8866 But the thing is you only need to redo a road once and it does not need to be redone again for the lifetime of the road (which is about 30 years or so depending on the amount of car traffic).
found the speeder. Slow down pal
California will soon tax the air u breathe if u step foot in California.
“Traffic safety laws?” You mean like not pulling people over? Stupid CA politicians.
Misdemenor? Like a slap on the wrist?
Wtf, why is it a misdemeanor instead of a felony? That won't prevent crime at all.
Govt overreaching.go fix the real problems with crime.
How about not allowing people to park over sidewalks. This infuriates me and I’m. It even handicapped.
Its funny, right after talking about crosswalk safety and the new law, they show a woman crossing on a red light, lol.
More traffic laws for taxpayer and no new laws to keep criminals in the jail? Love California !
9 catalytic converter is a misdemeanor, that’s like 18 thousand dollars 🤦🏼♂️ great new tool smh
Wtf! They will install these cameras to give you an automatic ticket but won’t give you a ticket for stealing or breaking into a car
More reasons to avoid California.
So, the "three left turners" after the light turns red is still ok?
BS, pedestrians in the Bay Area don't give a shit. They just walk across without looking. They think they are invincible.
So it's not a crime at all to have 8 or less catalytic converters? If it takes 9 or more catalytic converters and the punishment is only a misdemeanor, it is both symbolic of criminal tolerance and wholly ineffective at reducing related crimes. They can pay their misdemeanor charge for less than the sale of one of those catalytic converters.
Lame
More laws to punish the average citizen just trying to go to work and make a living.
I like that Tesla car’s navigation, now shows symbols for signals, stop signs, and speed cameras on your route. Hopefully all mapping systems will do this for other cars. 👍🏻👍🏻
Ugh... Make parking even MORE difficult.
Police is quite strict on this, just because it limits the view so much and thus poses danger to users of the pedestrian crossing.
what a joke
the parking close to a crosswalk is odd... how about citing the pedestrian that is too busy to look up from their phone while crossing a street/crosswalk? Many pedestrians in SF cross the street without ever pausing and looking in each direction to make sure it is safe; they just cross expecting whatever vehicle (car, bus, truck) to just do an immediate stop. I also find it interesting when new laws come about at the start of a new year that I don't recall were ever on a voting ballot.
we don't vote on most laws. we vote for representatives who vote on laws
I don't know how California legislation looks at pedestrians (I'm Dutch) but in The Netherlands, a pedestrian is basically someone who does not need to know any law regarding traffic (which is a bit weird, considering there are signs prohibiting pedestrian traffic beyond that point). I understand your point (and it's a big problem here as well) but here a pedestrian most likely can not be cited for failing to pay attention negotiating a pedestrian crossing.
yeah, that pesky Representational government...if only we had a Strong and Stable Genius instead 😂😂😂
Because car companies stopped selling small cars and everything is a huge SUV now (because of government regulation) when you are walking on a sidewalk you literally cannot see if a car is coming or not until you are in the lane where you can get hit.
Glad I do not have to care about that anymore. Love Idaho
Good stay in Idaho, and don't come back.
But we are planning to import the "Idaho Stop".
@@thomasthurston6656keep your Democrat voters there and you got a deal.
@landondc4739 You can keep your low wages. I did vote for Trump, so before you go running your trap, think before you speak.
How about prohibiting someone from breaking into your car as soon as you leave it?
so if you speed up in SF, Oakland or SJ you are the one paying for the drugs of the homeless on the sidewalk, beautiful!
To sum up:
- Another way to take money from drivers.
- Reducing already limited parking spaces.
- Three laws that will do absolutely nothing to stop converter theft, though one of them will add another expense to every car purchase.
DON'T FORGET THE DMV FEE TO REGISTER AND KEEP TRACK OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS
So you want to be able to break the law and not face punishment for it but you also want people to be punished for breaking the law?? I'm confused why are you against enforcing speeding laws in a way that frees up officers to go enforce other laws like catalytic converter theft
1:37 are they going paint it so its marked???
That's going to be the kick in the dick, much like a fire hydrant doesn't need to have red paint to ticket/tow you if you park too close no one is going to paint curbs it'll fall into the "ignorance of the law is no excuse" category and cities will absolutely f*cking rake in fines
I get it. Cops are being replace with auto flash camera. Easy fix, temporarily hid your licence plate.
The thing we really need are fewer laws, taxes and fines, and more common sense!
you voted for it..
No parking within 20ft of a crosswalk.. great. But in San Francisco, isn’t every intersection considered a crosswalk even if unmarked?
Marked crosswalk.
In SF is not like people actually follow the laws. Double parked cars, cars parked on the sidewalk, cars blocking the sidewalk, people running red lights and stop signs because they're just truly awful ghetto, and etc.
It’s 20 feet from either a marked or unmarked crosswalk, or 15 feet if curb extensions are present.
Very nice, the law abiding citizens will appreciate this. But what about the thieves and criminals? No jail time! Just California things
The crosswalk parking has been in effect for years now and is not new.
I’m so glad I moved out of California 😅😂
More cameras in the crappy cities.
Where they put in the red light cameras they should also be required to put in the count down timers like they have in Asia so you can avoid being in the middle of an intersection when the light turns red.
What about making a law that makes public the amount of money in the bank account for politicians.
Florida just did.
Yeah, because being in possession of 7 cut off catalytic converters isn't suspicious at all.
California...”misery for all”
this is just another way to make money for the city.....its bs as usual
Years ago I realized it is safer to walk on the interior perimeter of a crosswalk to give drivers a greater buffer zone to stop and be seen when a car is making a right against a red light.
A state lead by eggheads...
This is the shit they’re working on instead of bigger shit lol. What a joke
FJB!
Make it a felony with the cat converters
What about a law making law enforcement accountable for their bad behavior
More tickets for speeders would be a great thing. Better visibility at crosswalks is a big win!
Nice that the government will surveil more drivers … when will you do the same will all the criminals running around your cities?
The street is for cars the pedestrians should yield to cars at all times and all situations
Why prohibit crosswalk parking? It isn’t a real problem and makes less spots available. They make it a problem.
More money collection scams.
Make theft crimes a felony. No matter the value,
