The BASS in this TRACK!!
Also who else thought I forgot about Tool 😂😂😂...
Did you do Jambi I can’t even remember
Conditions of my parole is funny
The bass is so badass in this song!
Yo. Maybe you figured this out by now, but the Tool fanbase is crazy militant with enjoying people experience Tool.... I came to this channel for the Akala reactions.... But I am very impressed to see Tool and Jedi Mind Tricks reactions as well.
My favourite Rock is Tool... Akala is obviously just an outstanding inspiration, and Jedi Mind Tricks - only their 1st album, is my favourite hip hop... obviously I love old school hip hop, you can do immortal techniques early stuff etc.
But I think it is generally a given, that the longer artists/ groups perform in the big time, they kinda get worse.
I love Xibits 1st album for example, it's amazing... then he became kinda weak like everyone - and even though JMT is my favourite hip hop BY FAR - that is purely due to their 1st album, and the lyrics they drop.
JMT and Tool have been my most revered bands since I heard of 1st, decades ago.
IMO. You should cover more tracks from their 1st 'psycho social biological etc' album - and barely anyone has reacted to those tracks on youtube.
It sucks that they only have a video for 'i who have nothing' imo thats one of the worst tracks on the album - the thing that elevates the album to 'tool' status for me... is the fact that back when I was too stupid to understand or try to understand the lyrics - being written when vinnie paz was only 16 btw - .... i was being exposed to concepts and history that I do now believe and came across via my own research, again, decades later.
'*three immortals*' .. I don't want to list track names because they're all amazing and to do so would probably miss a good one out.
Also... 'Lost children of babylon' - they are like JMTs first album... not just 1 album like that (imo JMT got shit after they backed away from spitting the 'crazy' realness of their first album)
ALSO.... (you always seem to feel people wont watch to the ends of your videos... yeah this is a long comment but people do, who gives an F lol)
*BRASS AGAINST*. They cover not just Tool, but they a lot of sick ass tunes... all redone with live brass brands, and they are amazing. Producing songs replicating Tool perfectly in some cases, and being better versions of the originals in some cases - they covered this song for example. Pick what you want to listen to of theirs and it will probably be amazing.... War Pigs for example.
- Not that it matters, but they have black women doing the vocals sometimes... sometimes not... but they've all got amazing powerful voices, they just happen to be working with some of the best written rock material out there, putting a sick spin on it.... maybe i'll put more relevant slices of this comment where they should be relevant to the songs...
But seriously... JMT have some amazing shit on their first album, that you need to hear, I am always searching out and listening to those tunes (even though I bought and lost the CD... back when it first came out) - I go back to all the tunes.... EXCEPT 'i who have nothing' - it's a tune, yes. But's it's played out as the saying goes. And it lacks the educational value of the other songs on that album.
Also.... last also.... *Tool's best album is 'LATURALUS*' you need to be reacting to songs from that album.
Search 'Holy gift' - you dont have to react to '*Holy gift*' - it's the laturalus album, but with the songs reorganised in the order of the 'golden ratio' Fibonacci sequence....as each of the songs on that album are made according to the golden ratio - and the album itself just didnt order the songs that way originally... for whatever reason.
But listening to it is... like a holy experience.
'*Laturalus*' the song... *parabola*... *grudge* etc... some f'ing amazing tunes on that album.
- Everything i'm mentioning here is about music with meaning. People who appreciate Tool, Akala... JMT... *LCOB*... are people who want meaning from their music.
Obviously peeps let me know if im missing something.
- System of a down have underrated tracks you've not covered as well... aerials... prison... etc.
.... Puscifer is a JMK band I appreciate far less than tool.... but '*Remedy*' is a great song of theirs that you've not covered. Does a far better job of the same thing, than 'momma sed' - also.... '*Humbling river'* my favourite Puscifer song.... and again, imo, something profound to listen to.
Peace. In lakesh a'la kin!
Just love how they build up the tension and explode into release. Motivational for me always
Their bass player, Justin Chancellor is from the UK, and turns 49 this November. He's the youngest and newest member.

He means kangaroo court.
Its a way people describe a legal system thats corrupt

Basically a kangaroo court is the judge and jury have already predetermined the outcome before you are every heard...A corrupt system!!!
And just me bro, but I always listen to Tool and fall in love with the music first then I go back and fall in love with the lyrics.

This song is about a Judge who got caught with hard drugs, the same stuff he would put people in jail for. this song talks about the hypocrisy and an obvious flaw in the system. Kangaroo courts are often used to describe court systems in despot countries, 3rd world countries, where there are no "rights" to argue a defense from in court.
Slapping da BASS!!!!
:-: Yeap and I Love it.
MrWaCK, love the editing on your videos bro
:-: Thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 My editor works hard for me 👀👀💪🏼💪🏼
Edit: He believes in Quality for sure.
I saw some comments talking about the meaning of this song but I didn’t see any one mention this: supposedly (I don’t have the source readily available) this song was inspired by a judge that was notorious for being hard on marijuana offenders and locking them up, and then he ended up getting busted for heroin and it turned out that he was often on heroin while he was delivering harsh sentences to people in court for pot offenses. So “eyeballs deep in muddy waters” is a good metaphor on its own but “muddy waters” is an old bit of heroin slang. All of the hypocrisy metaphors and references are pretty potent with this background knowledge, and the line “Ganja? Please,” makes a lot of sense when addressing a judge who’s lecturing people about pot when he’s been shooting up heroin.
I've heard that specific story cited as one (among others) specific built into the overall abstract theme of hypocrisy. Nobody mentions the blues singer Muddy Waters, which I thought was the obvious reference besides the colloquialism "muddying the water".
From "Champagne and Reefer":
"Well you know there should be no law
On people that want to smoke a little dope
Well you know it's good for your head
And it relax your body don't you know...
...Well you know I'm gonna stick with my reefer
I ain't gonna be messing round with no cocaine."
A kangaroo court judge busted for heroin makes the pieces fit nicely. The pronunciation of "Puh-lease" makes it sound sarcastic, but also like "po-lice".
Metal has been fighting the system just as long as rap has. Enough said!
H.W.A.P. You'll enjoy it. It was my introduction to TOOL many years ago.
No relation to W.A.P. 🤣
Hooker With a Penis. I'll say it. I have the OGT tattoo, I don't give two shits.
Hell yeah, great reaction Mr. Whack! The entire album ÆNIMA is my favorite tool album, it's got alot of interesting psychological concepts coined by Carl Jung. Also the name itself is super interesting being a conjunction of Anima, being the unconscious feminine aspect of the male psyche and enima. Love the reactions brother keep em up! I think tool can hold us over while we wait with bated breath for Spirit World Field Guide 🤣
:-: That right there might be our next Tool unless it's something older.. Also that Spirit World Field Guide though 👀👀👀👀 Pre-ordered vinyl lastnight lol..
Hell yeah! I honestly need to get back into collecting vinyl. ÆNIMA is their second studio album while this is from their 4th, 10,000 Days. Can't wait for the next reaction, hope you're having a good one Mr.WaCK!

Keep up with the tool reactions, they get the views cause the Tool Army is passionate. I recommend Tool Sober Live from Reading.
:-: I'm not worried about the views.. I just enjoy the music.. It's a passion..
@@iammrwack That's good, but you know you're working here and you deserve something for entertaining us. Also if you keep listening to Tool you will develop the same passion for their music as we, the Tool Army, has.
What a happy boy
This song is all about hypocrisy. Its full of analogies and metaphors for hypocrisy and lying. A kangaroo court is a trial in court where the verdict has already been decided beforehand, so the defendant has no chance of winning. The song's title refers to the saying "the pot calling the kettle black" which is another metaphor for being a hypocrite
The thing with the "Kangaroo done hung the jury with the innocence" refers to a 'Kangaroo Court' which is when the British Army Court Marshalled soldiers during various conflicts in Australia, they dealt out swift, and rarely just, punishment that had little to do with the severity of the crime. It became a national embarrassment and the term Kangaroo Court became synonymous with 'framing an innocent person'.
:-: 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 THANK YOU!!!!
I think today you could say the Kangaroo Court has become the court of public opinion. The entire world now judges, convicts and condemns without the facts. The internet is the kangaroo court of today.
Unfortunately this is true. We just want to find and punish people based on the the crime and we often ignore the criminal and even the reality of the actual situation.
Lol the Pokémon part is epic 🤦🏻♀️😊
:-: 😂😂😂😂
Thinking track
My best thoughts on the meaning of this song, and I guess confirmed by their guitarist, is that they're calling out hypocritical people in high places..legal system, politicians, etc., that likely get high but don't support legalization and look down on those who support and use. There are a few different double entendres. The pot calling the kettle black and smoking pot. Lemon juice up in your eye, I believe is referring to someone having red eyes from being high, and possibly the same meaning for eyeballs deep in muddy water. I'm guessing the phrase, weep in shades of cozened indigo, refers to people pretending to feel pity, ie, being blue/sad. Faking sorrow. And there's the metaphor of the kangaroo court, which is essentially just an unfair trial where justice is disregarded. Maynard is a clever lyricist. I haven't fully hashed out if he's speaking on a specific court case or just generally calling out hypocrites. Anyway, love the videos as always. Thanks for getting back to Tool!
:-: I can see what you're saying in this... Im not sure who he speaking about or what but he sure coming for someone lol..Something to dig into a little more for sure..

This song can be hard for people to understand if not familiar with a lot of (American maybe?) idioms. Things like a kangaroo court, foot in mouth, head up ass, the pot calling the kettle black, crocodile tears, etc…
The song is about hypocrisy and judgement from someone in no place to cast such judgements. It’s calling someone or some people out for their double standards and hypocrisy basically. This song is almost too good honestly. Tool are on another level. Real artists. Not your typical pop formula.
The first two album's will give you a free facelift.
Sober is one of their songs off from undertow and it’s amazing. Especially preformed live. So if you’re looking for their older music, that would be the place to start. :)

Type O is also my favorite band. While Black No 1 is their most popular song, it’s not their best imo. The list I usually give new listeners (because it encompasses most of their different sound profiles) is:
1. Gravitational Constant.
2. Anesthesia
3. Creepy Green Light
4. ... A dish best served coldly
5. Be My Druidess.
6. Die With Me
7. Too Late: Frozen
8. White Slavery
9. iYDKMIGTHTKY
10. The Dream is Dead.
11. All Hallows Eve
12. Burnt Flowers Fallen
13. We Hate Everyone
But if you go with black no 1 you still won’t be disappointed because TON doesn’t really have any “bad” songs.

It's weird...you definitely should pay attention to the lyrics when listening to Tool but you can't let it distract you from the music. Sometimes it's best to just let the song ride and then pick out one or two lines that really stuck out to dissect. Then again I ain't trying to tell you how to react to your videos bro, keep on doin you!
:-: I understand what you are saying... I will be sure to work in it.. They lyrics aren't to deep just being able to hear the words sometimes . For sure we will try the method alot suggested like this.
Also just some advice: Pause less for the lyrics. Because the optimal way to experience Tool is in it's continued entirety (gotta feel the atmosphere, time signatures and complexity). Maybe read along the lyrics meanwhile if you prefer that and dissect them after the song is over. That way you'll get the most out of it.
:-: I think someone suggested that way before but completely slipped my mind lol.
@@iammrwack All good! Looking forward to future reactions
I don't think young people use the idiom 'the pot calling the kettle black' very much any more. Reactors aren't getting that.
:-: I for sure know of that says Lmbo... Tbh I didn't speak on it cause I already knew what it meant.. It's for me a childhood phrase to be said.
@@iammrwack fair enough. Ive just watched a lot of reactions to this song and havent felt that. I must be wrong. Sometimes sayings become archaic, now i know that's not one of them. Thanks for clearing that up. Sorry if i was rude. It didnt come out right.
