I would really like a world that doesn’t look so “American” because since where I live the houses look pretty modern and “European” and I love to build modern houses in the sims as well.. there’s not a lot of worlds they would fit in🤷♀️
Isn't Windenburg and the University world inspired from European style or am I wrong? Thought Windenburg looked pretty English tudor house styled (sorry if I spelled anything wrong)
@@laurenray8458 I'd say Windenburg has Germany/Denmark/France (also, look at the names of the families there: Munch, Bjergsen, Le Chien ...) vibes while Britechester is pretty English
@@michakaikarsten7331 Tho, the houses in Windenburg looks very english to me unless the Brits took that style from other countries, I've been to England and they have alot of houses that has that Tudor house style (The white houses with the dark wood). In the Tower of London for example, which is supposed to be how the old medieval London looked like, that place had houses like Windenburg
I wish they’d give us apartments like in Sim 2. I started the Sims with 2 and Apartment Life was one of my first packs. I loved taking big houses and dividing them up into apartments! It allows for a lot of creativity, and the neighborhood where I currently live has a lot of big old houses that have been converted to apartments, so it really reflects where I live 😃
I LOVE the apartments and I was hoping after City Living they'd add more in other worlds. It's unrealistic to only have apartments in the big city and I LOVE apartments lol. It doesn't make City Living worthless or take any value away from it. Remember in TS3 when we got Vampires in Night Life for some reason and then got them again in Supernatural, but better. It didn't take anything away from Night Life, it just improved vampires lol. I hope they do more of this. Like add beaches in other worlds with other expansions even though they came with Island Living
wouldn't it be neat to be able to make your own working apartment buildings instead of just remodeling existing ones? on the bigger lots I always build whole city blocks/neighborhoods for the look, but it would be neat to have that actually work
@@donovanhendrick7567 I've found so many neat apartment builds and I like my sims in apartment style living. It feels more realistic to me. And they should definitely like give an ability for you to just section off rooms and call each one like an apartment.
@@jessib4492 There's actually a river in Foxbury Institute that you can swim in but it would be cool to actually have a functioning beach in Brindleton Bay.
i totally agree because i’m such a family oriented player and we need more build mode objects for toddlers! this is one of the main reasons i am purchasing this pack, but i’m worried about the gameplay aspect. i don’t want my sims living in a dirty neighborhood!
The way the apartments look from the outside look like what motels look like where I live actually lol. Where I am apartments are reallyyyy tall and you can't usually just go up to a second floor with outside stairs etc. Still cool though and I could see someone turning one into a motel build as well.
I agree, all the apartment around where I live are more like city living apartments. Only time I've actually seen apartments like that are in some animes lol
Oh, I thought you'd get more into the game play. This is just bout the buildings. My issues on this pack is game play related. Like how it's near impossible to live a dirty\industrial lifestyle since it always forces a eco\green one. Granted there is a lot of cool stuff, it's just all one sided, so there is nothing for people who want to try something different for a narrative stand point.
Which is why people were hyped for the pack, to be able to create a dirty world. I've seen so many game changers say this pack is great because they are only focused on the build and buy, not the actual gameplay mechanics.
Agreed. I never build, so none of this is really relevant for me. My HUGE complaint with this pack is the community spaces because it seems you can only vote on them if the lot is IN the community you live in? When the community only has 3 or 4 lots, to need to have 1 of them per community be a community space is just not functional. I will basically never use that feature even though I really want to because I don't want to waste that many lots for them. They should have the community spaces be restricted to Worlds (i.e. only 1 needed per world) at most.
@@derangedone13 Huh, I didn't know that yet. I haven't really messed with community lots yet. Oh, LittleMsSam made a MOD fix for the Bug House so it doesn't take forever and a day to get it's health up. She shortened the animation cycle & 3Xed how much it gives.
When u said “I’ve been playing with Dan Myshuno since high school, and I’ve just graduated college” I was like there’s no way that the pack has been out for four years bc whenever I play city living I always think of it as “new” and then it hit me... the pack came out when I was in 7th grade, and I’m in 11th grade now. It really has been four years I had no idea.
I think we look back on sims 3 with Rose tinted spectacles... I remember not being able to buy the masses of content they released for it because it was all reeeallly pricey and usually didn't come with a lot.
It's always weird hearing youtubers day they live in Florida because my brain just short circuits and goes "No you can't live in Florida because I live in Florida."
A my the only one who wanted simsie to roast the sims because there's literally no drama in your life and your just looking for something that make you feel alive?
yeah lucky not to have drama in ur life in this time of the world but i do know u meant basic meaningless drama to distract from the evil in the world rn and i support that
Everyone started hyping this pack after the livestream but honestly I still can't see the appeal, it looks very mid tier. Bland world, boring gameplay, not what the community originally wanted from an expansion. Not poorly made, just mediocre, and I don't get why we still cheer EA on for this shit, they're a huge corporation, idk why they get praise for doing some random dumb shit instead of fixing issues and oversights which have been present since launch.
I've been playing this pack now only 430~ hours but I have never loved any Sims pack or game more than Eco lifestyle. I'm not really eco myself, not vegan, not a builder etc, but this pack is the best Sims content I have ever seen since Sims Castaway came out. People just have a lot of different opinions and that is completely fine. It's good that everyone possibly can have something in all the packs they already have =)
I kind of like that it is locked behind a wall. The fabrication items makes the game a little more difficult and actually makes you work for your house. This whole pack kind of has that vibe and I love it! Whether it is the Community voting, you generating power for yourself, creating the items, transforming the neighborhood, etc. It is amazing!
My issue with the whole static neighborhoods (where you see houses but cannot play in them) is that it feels like a cop out for not adding more lots or families. I do enjoy having that aesthetic, but I would prefer to have more than one lot in a "neighborhood".
Fun fact of the 1 story neighborhood in del sol valley, so obviously del sol Valley is based in Los Angeles, because of gentrification and real life house flipping, a lot of the houses in Hollywood have been flipped for a very very modern look, so basically you have a bunch of older 1 story Spanish style houses next to big modern ones. It’s very interesting if you study the real estate market. I think that you should look into it and do it
Sims 3 had a lot of car choices. Like a lot. And a lot of people want sims 4 to be sims 3 with better graphics. A lot was done right with sims 3 and cars along with the open world was top tier. Same with sims 2
@@wisterwilson8774 And to be honest, I enjoyed Sims 3 and 2. Even though I don't see the need in them with no open world, Sims 2 did utilize transportation in a nice way that could work.
I feel like they shouldve added the option to make apartments along with tiny houses in a free update so that everyone could make apartments and tiny houses.
Simsie: slightly irritated by having to pull up craftable items in debug and not being able to instantly change their colors once placed. Me, on my 2016 MacBook Pro: meh.
Mine is from 2012 and while it takes a long time to open up, it actually does pretty well and I have every single pack and a ton of cc 🙃 but I am saving up for an actual gaming laptop lol
I love the apartments, I wish there was some in del sol valley it would’ve been perfect! I’m glad we have smaller apartment without the issues like the mouse, things constantly breaking etc
That has been my number one gripe with the sims 4. But then you look at sims 3 and what a laggy, stuttering mess it was due to those huge, busy lots. Adding more worlds to the sims 4 has helped some, and I recently learned about culling and how much more alive the game feels when you turn it off. Has made a big difference!
guys if you want to get this pack early, use a vpn on your computer! you have to pay for it and everything, but it unlocks at midnight where ever you live so if you use a vpn to somewhere that’s ahead, you can get it early! for example i live in florida and it’s 4:00pm, but i put on a hong kong vpn and the pack is currently downloading!!!
Y’all really had to go and post these when I have a giant work assignment due tomorrow and need to work on it. Update: I can’t fight the urge, I’m watching now. Update: I now have to pull an all-nighter.
Tbh what would the point of cars in Sims 4 be really. Because sims can just "teleport" to anywhere instantly by looking at a map, what would make cars different? Maybe Sims use a taxi to get to places and the Taxi leaves before the loading screen finishes. Idk though. You'll have to ask sims themselves how they travel.
I really really agree with your assessment of the debug items! I wish they were in the gameplay unlocks cheat so the swatches could be grouped together and the items duplicated.
I think the problem was that the two trailers came off preachy and only actually highlighted the elements that were most like things we already have in the game with obviously not enough time to differentiate them. So it genuinely looked like Island Living part 2: now you can make candles in seemingly the same interaction you use for flower arranging and woodworking! Woohoo! Plus, preaching about the environment in a digital simulation while being a major corporation with no intention of using a cent of the proceeds towards IRL green initiatives. Woo! And despite the fact that the digital simulation doesn't even have many of the things that cause environmental destruction included in the game despite many years of many people repeatedly asking for them to add them (cars, other forms of transport, industry, farming, etc). So when the actual gameplay focus got expanded upon, it was so much less samey than the trailers made it out to be, much more depth of gameplay in the power/water/waste management, much more depth to the craftables than we've ever had, the ability to furnish a house through dumpster diving, the variety of NAPS, etc. And in my recollection, this is really the first time the trailers didn't show off at least a little bit off everything, so there was no expectation that there was much more to the pack than what those showed. I do think my general problem with it, and the sims in general, is that they lean WAY, WAY too hard into making the game easy and appealing for children for a game rated T. The way they marketed this was borderline patronizing, the game play of Sims 4 makes it too simple (too easy to complete goals and any work tasks and way too easy to make a lot of money) and this pack is no exception, and they've stripped the game of any adversity (no theft, fire catches very slowly and you have insurance despite never having to pay premiums, illness is fixed instantly with magically appearing medicine, no long term consequences for anything at all). For me, it makes it very hard to enjoy gameplay for very long at all because it quickly either becomes offensively easy to live, or incredibly repetitive (or both) and as I am, like a great many simmers, an adult and not a 7 year old with a summer vacation to fill, offensively easy and repetitive gaming is not worth the time. Which is a shame because I've played these games for more than half my life and love building in them. I wish there was a Sims 4 hard mode. Maybe worth looking into some script mods. Tl;Dr: they advertised the pack poorly, IMO, and my biggest problem with the pack is it would be better if it were more challenging or at least progressed more slowly, and I wish there were opponents (be them npcs or simply situations) to go up against to make it challenging, because often Sims 4 attempts at adding difficulty are just: make it SUPER grindy (looking at you, robotics). I do really like this pack so far, though. It's the most excited I've been about gameplay in a long while, and there's multiple things I want to do in it still, and lots of ways to combine it with other packs, and lots of opportunity for fun building challenges with the introduction of community lots.
I personally would like it if most of the worlds had other housing alternatives like apartments. It's honestly more realistic. I think my biggest complaint is how a lot of the packs/expansions seem to divide everything up. The wind mills, solar panels, water collector, eco fuel, etc should have been items included with the off-the-grid feature in Island Living. I feel like that whole aspect can be a lot more interesting now, but now you need both expansions in order to have both features.
I was getting so upset that so many people hated it before seeing it because I was SO DANG EXCITED. I've never been this excited for a pack, I think this will easily be my new favorite. I think everything about it was done absolutely brilliantly.
I see dust showing in the light in the town preview. EA getting some inspiration from Paralives, I see. You better step your game up, EA. Paralives is coming for you, and the healthy competition will only do you good.
Has anyone's saves been damaged by the new update? I can't access my saved games. SimsGuruNick made a post about it on Twitter. Wish we had a timeline of when our games will work again.
@@lk-ds1ys right? Usually I am just a builder, but last night I was motivated to actually play the game proper. Played for about four hours yesterday and an hour this morning. Then my sim traveled an my game broke.
For neighborhoods that have neighbors I typically imagine my sims household came in and altered the natural shell of the building to fit what I like but have hints of the original building. It is pretty common to see/do this in Chicago.
I really dislike how you can't use the balcony in the new apartment. At least, they could have pre-placed an outdoor sofa and/or a grill that you couldn't edit. It looks totally off when you have a completely empty balcony! 🤔
I feel like she likes this pack because of the pack itself but also because during this release, there was a lot of update for the building mechanics for The Sims 4. We were allowed to move the doors on half tiles so we did have to alt-place them, we were allowed to get within 1/4 of a tile away from the foundation when landscaping, and many other things but I feel like those were right up Kayla's alley so this pack also has some nostalgia to it
Kayla (about the container home with crane): This is so cool! So you know the SimGuru's can build well! Simproved (about the container home with crane): I built it! It's so cool! I got to build a house for an actual sim pack! Me: -facepalm- I knew it was way too good to be true.
okay hear me out.. for the neighborhoods you could potentially do a so called "spooky" house like that one house you always see, its been then for ages and it seems to be abandoned but its actually not
"I have a problem with the worlds looking empty, you live in these small neighborhoods" Me being like "huh?!" watching this from my real life small neighborhood with no neighbours.
This pack is definitely better than I expected but I still feel they spread out this concept a lot throughout different packs. IMO Tiny Living should have been a part of this pack, the off the grid lot trait should have come with this update, and they should've done something instead of the conservationist career in Island Living (I mean, imagine if they had done marine biology or something instead and actually made mermaids worth playing but I digress). Can't deny it makes the pack feel tired and it just wasn't what people were expecting when we already have had so many packs that pertain to what I would consider is a niche concept.
The thing is, If I'll play with this pack I only want to go in two directions only: make a dystopian\smog city or a super clean eco-friendly town. For what I saw you have to work hard to either improve the quality of the town or make it worse and I don't like the idea to spend that much time only to change the environment around me instead of actual gameplay. Are there like cheats or sumn that can make the town immediately bad or good?
Yes there are, if you shift + click your mailbox you can access the cheats for Eco Living, like adding points for voting, or immediately adding good or bad neighborhood plans. So you can do all bad or all good plans to change the eco system with a couple clicks. :) (you can also learn more about the cheats by going to the eco living lessons tab)
I've been playing Sims since Sims 1, and this is the first time in several generations that the game has felt like a *game*. Until now, The Sims has been what it was -- a time management/needs management game. This pack is a game changer. I wanted to hate it, but the build/buy mode items alone make this pack worth the price point. Very highly recommended.
YOU MISSED ONE THING!!!! The vertical garden usable object and the decoration one are not the same size and it is so frustrating. it's been a year now, still not the same size.
I really actually like that the neighborhoods have such a clear style. Because in reality, at least where I live, the city can make specific rules on how to build your house and how it's allowed to look. And in these neighborhoods it's kind of the same which I really like
For the first Neighborhood that is very creatively restricted due to the aesthetic, I'd suggest you follow the same scheme I've been using in my game (and my life) for as long as I can remember: be the eccentric crazy lady/neighbor/aunt. Everytime I've tried to build in restricted neighborhoods I've failed, unless I embraced the story and made the house for an eccentric "crazy" weird townie. Usually the plant crazy cat crazy lady that all the kids say is a woth (spoiler she is not she is just intolerant to bulshit) and that makes amazing food :)
This would have been such a good pack to add cars to. Regular cars versus electric could have an impact on the environment, etc.
Exactly my thoughts! I was hoping they would add it to the base game update but off course they didn't :( only the strange fire in the toilet..
Or cara with different modifications/designs that can be either more "industrial" (older models, diesel engines, or cars with special additions) or "eco-friendly" (hybrid and electric cars, rvs, etc.)

The crane build is so amazing. I think the best part is the fact that it's an accessable lot and not just for show.
Imagine that, in real life, you were the only one living in your neighborhood
wait, your neighbours aren’t paid actors?

The dream
Uhhh I’m the main character sooo ofc 😂
i wish
I would really like a world that doesn’t look so “American” because since where I live the houses look pretty modern and “European” and I love to build modern houses in the sims as well.. there’s not a lot of worlds they would fit in🤷♀️
Isn't Windenburg and the University world inspired from European style or am I wrong? Thought Windenburg looked pretty English tudor house styled (sorry if I spelled anything wrong)
@@LollyDwolf Yeah its all inspired by England im pretty sure
i thought germany
@@laurenray8458 I'd say Windenburg has Germany/Denmark/France (also, look at the names of the families there: Munch, Bjergsen, Le Chien ...) vibes while Britechester is pretty English
@@michakaikarsten7331 Tho, the houses in Windenburg looks very english to me unless the Brits took that style from other countries, I've been to England and they have alot of houses that has that Tudor house style (The white houses with the dark wood). In the Tower of London for example, which is supposed to be how the old medieval London looked like, that place had houses like Windenburg
Btw guys, Kayla is *STILL* not being paid 😁😁

Totally didn’t hear that at the beginning
you all are welcome then 😁
Wait is she just getting sent the pack early or something?
NO WAY!!!
I love apartments it’s just so annoying because npcs never move in to any apartments or lots at all in city living for me
I agree with you completely! I would especially love to see beaches in other worlds, too! :’)

Day one of the pack: CC putting all craftable objects in the regular catalog
The way the apartments look from the outside look like what motels look like where I live actually lol. Where I am apartments are reallyyyy tall and you can't usually just go up to a second floor with outside stairs etc. Still cool though and I could see someone turning one into a motel build as well.
I want to make a motel soooo bad
Do you live in post Communistic country? 😅
Lauren De Styles see, for me the apartments actually look like the ones where I live. It’s just very dependent on where you live.
Angee Čelínova no lol I live in a Canadian city but my dad is from a post-communism country lol
Yeah. I also didn't know what to do? I just kinda idled around the places.
@@LWolf12 You all are great and have great opinions that matter but lilsimsie is more about building
I would love a cheat to be able to build apartments, many times I'd love to add more in different neighborhoods, but I'm limited to being in the city.
Just use the roommate function. Build a double type lot and use the lock door feature.
not everyone has university to access the roommate system :(
@@segiitaff6421 you could always just make a larger "family", separate them out and set the autonomy level high. There are ways.
@@sarahjo7837 I've seen @JamesTurner do that, with hilarious frustration 🤣
@@thelorak2494 not saying it's perfect by any means. But is doable if that's what gameplay you're looking for.
It really has been four years I had no idea.
remember when sims 3 gave you so much in the base game and even the expansions
then there's sims 4 who's just "so you got the money?"
true..
You may be right, but there are some people that don’t like Sims 3
I think we look back on sims 3 with Rose tinted spectacles... I remember not being able to buy the masses of content they released for it because it was all reeeallly pricey and usually didn't come with a lot.
Except good luck running the sims3 where it doesn't act like a tank full of rocks
Also anyone remember just how darn buggy their island pack was?

yeah lucky not to have drama in ur life in this time of the world but i do know u meant basic meaningless drama to distract from the evil in the world rn and i support that
Everyone started hyping this pack after the livestream but honestly I still can't see the appeal, it looks very mid tier. Bland world, boring gameplay, not what the community originally wanted from an expansion. Not poorly made, just mediocre, and I don't get why we still cheer EA on for this shit, they're a huge corporation, idk why they get praise for doing some random dumb shit instead of fixing issues and oversights which have been present since launch.
its honestly amazing its 10% my fav
I just like the build mode items lol
I've been playing this pack now only 430~ hours but I have never loved any Sims pack or game more than Eco lifestyle. I'm not really eco myself, not vegan, not a builder etc, but this pack is the best Sims content I have ever seen since Sims Castaway came out. People just have a lot of different opinions and that is completely fine. It's good that everyone possibly can have something in all the packs they already have =)
People cheer it on because they like it. we're allowed to hold a different opinion from you😂
I kind of like that it is locked behind a wall.
When you refresh at the right moment! 😂
Someone needs to make a 10 hour loop of Simsie saying "I'm not being paid, they just sent me the pack early"
Me: Omg I can play Eco Lifestyle tonight! Also me: Me seeing I have $4
This is you preorder when you got money! 😂
I have more than enough money to buy it but I hate this pack wtf. The world is strange.
I think that you should look into it and do it
I meant on the game lol.

whoa early bird getting the eco living worm here
i literally don’t understand why people are obsessed with having cars in the sims 4???
I use cars for my machinimas, but for live gameplay, there is no reason to have them. It's not an open world.
Same there’s no open world, unless they did it like the sims 3 console but it’s so pointless
@@username4261 The sims 2 had cars without an open world. Its more about them not just poofing into existence whenever they go somewhere, aka realism.
All together now!
"I’m not being paid, they just sent me the pack early!"
I feel like they shouldve added the option to make apartments along with tiny houses in a free update so that everyone could make apartments and tiny houses.
Edgar Nello then both those packs would be worthless :/
Simsie: slightly irritated by having to pull up craftable items in debug and not being able to instantly change their colors once placed.

I wonder who decides on how many playable lots a world has. I would love to have more lots in almost every world!
@@vrshepherd7316 Would've been nice if we could at least place our own empty lots where ever we wanted, like in the previous Sims games

I can see myself actually using this pack
"this one even has a balcony!" except it's not playable :(
I really really agree with your assessment of the debug items!
I CALLED IT!
😩
*she was cheering about this pack a month ago*
yay 245th view!
I was waiting for this

@@lk-ds1ys right? Usually I am just a builder, but last night I was motivated to actually play the game proper. Played for about four hours yesterday and an hour this morning. Then my sim traveled an my game broke.
I heard that fixed the crashing issue today.
For neighborhoods that have neighbors I typically imagine my sims household came in and altered the natural shell of the building to fit what I like but have hints of the original building. It is pretty common to see/do this in Chicago.
“I’m graduating this semester” simsie honey you already graduated
I really dislike how you can't use the balcony in the new apartment. At least, they could have pre-placed an outdoor sofa and/or a grill that you couldn't edit. It looks totally off when you have a completely empty balcony! 🤔
“You lucky people in California, you get it at 9!” Looks at bank account.... looks like I’ll be getting the pack never...
I feel like she likes this pack because of the pack itself but also because during this release, there was a lot of update for the building mechanics for The Sims 4. We were allowed to move the doors on half tiles so we did have to alt-place them, we were allowed to get within 1/4 of a tile away from the foundation when landscaping, and many other things but I feel like those were right up Kayla's alley so this pack also has some nostalgia to it
why doesn't EA just have you review the pack before they release them.
Kayla (about the container home with crane): This is so cool! So you know the SimGuru's can build well!
Simproved (about the container home with crane): I built it! It's so cool! I got to build a house for an actual sim pack!
Me: -facepalm- I knew it was way too good to be true.
I’ve been wanting more apartments since City Living, and I’m so happy we got more.
okay hear me out.. for the neighborhoods you could potentially do a so called "spooky" house like that one house you always see, its been then for ages and it seems to be abandoned but its actually not

Me: I saw this coming from a mile awa-
Kayla: I really really like this pack!
Me: oh-
Wish we had some kind of apartment lot type T_T XD
This pack is definitely better than I expected but I still feel they spread out this concept a lot throughout different packs. IMO Tiny Living should have been a part of this pack, the off the grid lot trait should have come with this update, and they should've done something instead of the conservationist career in Island Living (I mean, imagine if they had done marine biology or something instead and actually made mermaids worth playing but I digress). Can't deny it makes the pack feel tired and it just wasn't what people were expecting when we already have had so many packs that pertain to what I would consider is a niche concept.
The curse of the watermark... IT HAS FINALLY LIFTED!!
When the echo pack comes out I definitely am gonna get it
Czena Kramer Same!
i preordered it and i’m really excited!

I really actually like that the neighborhoods have such a clear style. Because in reality, at least where I live, the city can make specific rules on how to build your house and how it's allowed to look. And in these neighborhoods it's kind of the same which I really like
Her: I hate the empty feeling towns.
Her: I hate that there’s so many houses.
Wut.
