      @ibceku 11 месяцев назад +112

      Yeah and it's arguably easy to improve at least a little - make open neighborhoods and more out of lot activities and bam!

    • @TheDawnofVanlife

      I find people who really love Sims 3 more than them all often argue this and as a bigger Sims 2 fan then Sims 3 fan (both are better than 4 tho) I disagree. Yeah, Sims 2 was built on rotational play and closed lots (and the biggest thing I would love on a Sims 2 imaginary refresh that will never happen is open micro areas of neighborhood so you could walk to a neighbors house or you could see their family across the way). But you really only need (firstly) anything you do to affect the full map and (secondly) areas of open neighborhood that feel alive with consequences impacted by your decisions. Sims 4 ALREADY has massive lag problems with a closed lot system. A massive open world on top of them would probably render the game unplayable the way it is coded now.

      @@ibcekuno kidding!
      open neighborhoods would be a huge hit for the sims 4 rather than a phoney pack
      i hate going to johnny zest house just to try to go back int my house, get the front door and wait a loading screen
      or go to the gym and then leave to go right next door to face another loading screen just to have nothing to do besides have a moodlet, moodlets bring more personality to the sims rather than their own traits smh 🤦🏿‍♂️

    • @TheDawnofVanlife
      @TheDawnofVanlife 11 месяцев назад +25

      @@v3x1ng_c0rpesYES, that's what's annoying. If something is halfway across the map, fine...loading screen me there . But If it's a building LITERALLY next door on the map why do I have to teleport? (Loading screen)...I also hate the teleporting travel in general. Sims 2 was a closed world but it worked, cars worked, because they had function in the world. Service people arrived in cars, you 'drove' off screen in a car (or bus or taxi or shuttle to your plane for vacation). I didn't need to 'see' every moment of a driving car to feel like my Sims actually drove, got a ride, or even walked somewhere because I couldn't just go to a world map and teleport them to the next location. And the loading screens also weren't the same spinning plumbob. Yeah, it was just a static image of your car or plane or taxi or whatever...but at least it was representative of real transportation in action. The spinning plumbob with game tips just reminds me I am playing a game.

      @@TheDawnofVanlife smh when I first started playing the sims, I started with the sims 3 console game, it had open neighborhoods! beautiful world, a bunch of good houses, townies KNEW EACH OTHER, either ex boyfriend/ex girlfriend, it wasn't gen z at all, couples would lay in the bed and kiss each other, wasn't afraid to be bold, it had a a huge Park with schools and dine outs and a city hall area, a huge park, it had a police station, like if the sims 4 had that it would be beautiful
      it would also be fun to see what other sims in the area is doing when your not there lolll I used to watch other sims in the sims 3 just to see nps doing basic everyday stuff, in the sims 3 it was even a little piece of detail when sims would peek through your window !! it's creepy yes, but gives so much more to the game. the sims 4....I don't know what happened now its filled with child friendly nonsense, gen z nonsense and...loading screens 24/7, the oasis springs would be so fun with open neighborhoods..

    This is one of my favourite EPs. Totally agree with the low rating for CAS. The biggest disappointment for me is that you can’t build on balconies on the apartments.

    As an avid rags to riches player this pack is 10/10 for me!
    Dumpster diving is definetly the best feature of the pack, you can find lots of objects there that you can either restore and sell or restore and furnish your house.
    I also think cas has some good objects, I always use hair and clothes from EL, it also has some cute jewelry that you can unlock either with cheats or by reaching a certain lvl in the career.

      And Britechester came with huge dormitories for 8 students in luxury. It would have made sense to have crappy tight apartments there with leaky pipes, like the one I lived in (with 3 other students) when I was in university.

      Yes! My favorites are 1- Island Living, 2- Eco Lifestyle, and 3- City Living. I've decided to turn off the NAP system, though because literally every neighborhood in my save would end up with Sharing Is Caring and very quickly all the items in all my community lots would be stripped bare, and all my played sims houses and apartments would find their computers have gone missing after the welcome wagon 😂
      But i do love it otherwise lol

    the cas theme is meant to be trash...as in it's been worn and reused a million times. I think this pack is brilliant. Really good for rags to riches. you get the smog vacuum with the career which can clean the world. and then fix the items you find it the dumpster. Then if you have get to work you can make some really cool retail stores. I think where this pack excels is with cross pack compatibility. It makes for the best rags to riches gameplay. This is my fav pack! people are always surprised when i say it, but i think it's really cool for my gameplay style. The items work really well with cottage living simple lot trait too, especially the meat rack. Think this is only time I've disagreed with your review.

    This was the pack that brought me back to TS4 (I closed the game on release day in disgust and had no intention of coming back). This pack gave us some of the worst bugs on release, the world is lacking (per the great Juno Birch, I wish they made the world messier/trashier), and I find it incredibly stupid that they haven’t retroactively removed some of the game breaking NAPs. And yet, it will forever be a staple in all my saves.

    Biggest problem with CAS in general are the lack of normal pants and the feminised male clothing. When I mean normal pants I mean down to the ankles, not flood pants (pants above the ankle), to many of the pants are short especially dress/suit pants. Also much of the clothing for men are stuff I don't see the average man wearing but instead dressy men from places like California. My biggest problem is that while making the environment green is fun, it completely tanks my performance. Anytime I've had a Green Footprint the sunlight rays during the day has caused significant FPS loss. Combined with a big neighborhood with a lot going on (in my example, the farm area of Henford-on-Bagley) I was getting a nice 2 to 3 FPS during the day. I tried a few things and even putting my graphics to minimum I was still barely pushing 20 fps. Unfortunately there is no way of disabling those sunlight rays :/

    I think (not 100% sure) one reason the world improves ecologically so quickly is that all of the buildings use the new build mode items (walls, windows, etc), which all have environmental benefits. If you want the world to be more challenging in that aspect, you need to replace all the buildings with non Eco Lifestyle builds/materials.

    I won't lie, the NAPs system would be kind of cool for a (modded) post-apocalyptic run :D but other than that, I agree, I don't think I'd pay full price for this. I've been on the fence for a while about eco lifestyle, mainly because of the build mode items - they're absolutely stunning, but from the points you presented, I'll definitely wait for the next sale to roll around so I can finally buy it :)

    I thought you'll give the gameplay more points, because i saw your video that this is one of the packs that you recommend. Or was it sarcasm? Oh well i can't read sarcasm very well, but i thought that short was literal honesty.
    Waiting for city living review. But i think the sale will end before i can watch your city living review, so it's ok.

    Eco Lifestyle would be fun if you could run around picking up the trash that you see like in Island Living. that was a missed opportunity. It would be nice to have activities to clean up the neighborhood. I find that voting is glitched, so very annoying. I do love playing with this pack, though.

    EA really should consult with you as to what kind of gameplay should be included in new packs imo. You always have such good ideas when you're talking about missed opportunities for gameplay in this brutally honest review series. I appreciate your opinions on all aspects of the game but I really find myself nodding along enthusiastically and agreeing when you're making suggestions for gameplay. They all make sense, and none of them are ridiculously over the top or unachievable. Its sad to see The Sims fall off in real time.

    If the cas items had two different versions, one for the cleaner sinple denim and then the mish-mash patch denim, then it would be a big improvement. Just a shame that some that the idea of the patch-worn out denim idea just was in the wrong places

    This is one of my favorite packs but the CAS items were 90% horrible. I love the build mode and the world. I enjoy the system of "upgrading" the neighborhoods through gameplay. I wish they had made that feature part of other worlds in some capacity.

    Really surprised that NO ONE seems to talk about the horrible lots: a few are so bugged you can see through the map, there's one in the quarry neighborhood that is impossible to flatten elevation on because its placed as a flat lot but on uneven terrain, and very few of the lots are well-lit from the front at any time of day. As a builder, I absolutely never build in this world because it's a terrible experience. Also, the style of The neighborhoods prevent you from building anything other than super modern or industrial builds, (and it's really hard to even make those seem like they fit into the world properly). Build items are some of the best in the game, but for a $40 expansion pack to have a world that is this broken is so frustrating.

    Well as far as I'm concerned, the only thing I like about this expansion is the clothes and the hairstyles and being able to build a little is not bad but I prefer the Escape in the Snow one more since it's fine but it's not my favorite I remember the The first time it came out I criticized it but it's not that bad, good but good video I'm a new sub on the channel. 😊😊😊

    Out of all the packs i have i use this the least..or the spa one or star wars. I only use this pack at the beginning of rags to riches and i dumpster dive til my witch (which i usually always play bc its op) levels her magic up and basically makes me rich lol. The neighborhood action plans are so stupid and pointless. Its one of my least favorite packs but i do like it better than star wars 😂

    I bought the pack because of build mode items amd I always use them, I also enjoy generating my own power and water because it reduces the bills... One thing I REALLY hate though is how LAGGY a green lot becomes because of the auroras, it's so annoying I had to turn off the feature in the settings. Which is the main point of the pack's gameplay...

    I know it's unfortunate that guys don't get a lot of hairstyles, but it's also realistic in my opinion. From what I know, girls do a lot more with their hair than guys do. Plus, you can just take off the filter for masculine and let the guys have some of the feminine hair for more hairstyles, right?

    I feel like this world should be 0/10. I tried this pack when it was available as a free demo and the world was just the most boring of every world I’ve ever played in. There was literally nothing to do - most worlds at least have off-lot parks or something, and some collectibles - and despite looking like a city there were no other Sims out and about, no community events, just… nothing. And then to add insult to injury the work from home tasks for the career only worked if you literally lived in that new world; they wouldn’t work in any other world but also had a requirement to do them within your own neighborhood. And of course the freelancer career was completely broken no matter where you lived…

    This is one of the packs where I think they had the right idea, wrong application. It has a lot of systems and gameplay impacting all parts of your game and is brought over into every world unlike a lot of other packs. However, as you said, doesn’t work with the closed lot system.
