You do a great job with the videos . Good camera angle, all the relevant info you provide through commentary or on the screen with what tool or tool size is needed. Short and sweet and to the point! Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the tranny swap, that looks like a month long pain in the ass if I were to attempt it.
Weres the transmission pressure sensor located on a 2017 chevy spark ,I would greatly appreciate it , an mechanics like you are a certain breed ,great job.
If i am not mistaken Chevrolet recommends cganging the transmission fluid every 90,000 or 100,000 miles. At 80,000 my girlfriends 2014 Sparks tranny fluid was a greyish black color so I dropped the pan & changed the fikter & fluid & flushed it with 4-6 qts. of new transmission fluid. Aboit 3 months after i did the work I noticed the transmission started to slip just a little when getting on the freeway. The fluid also became dark and started to get that burnt smell tranny fluid gets so i drained it & put new fluid in, ran it for about a day and d & r' it again. Didnt help, fluid was still bad and the slipping got progressively worse. The only thing i can think that I might have done that could have shortened the lifespan was I didnt use the OEM manufactured fluid, I used Valvoline CVT fluid. Maybe that would have saved it and it would still be running, maybe not. Taking into consideration these CVT's often dont even make it 100,000 miles Id say it was its time to go. But I woild definately recommend chaning fluid every 15,000 & fluid & filter every 30,000 if anyone has one with the CVT that still runs. And just to be on the safe side, spend the extra money and use whayever fluid Chevy recommends. Its about $50 for 4 quarts compared to the $35 I think it was for tge Valvoline CVT fluid.
@@doingstuffwithdylan4367 it's sucks because the car has potential. If that thing has a 5 speed it would probably be a little rocket ship. But from what I hear the whole car would have to be reengineered just for a tranny swap.
You sure take all the tough spots in stride! I think i would have been cursing up a storm. My Daughter has a 15 spark that the tranny just failed. Wants me to replace it. Not sure i want to.
my transmission went out on my 2015 spark, how long does it take to get the cvt transmission? Im taking It to the dealership because it is still under warranty and im trying to see how long it should typically take.
Yes ..I pull both engine and transmission out from up top ...it's way easier ...then I put em back together and slide em back in ...but I take the front pumper out and the radiator..etc
Hey Andrew, I’m getting ready to buy a 2015 Spark with a bad auto trans. Have you already done this repair, by pulling the engine/trans from the top, removing the front bumper and radiator assembly?
@@edwinromero8157 I was just guessing it’s probably behind the front pan but you may have to pull the unit to get to the pressure sensor I’m not positive
About to post the world record video where I pulled the Chevy spark out in 55 minutes back in an hour and a half or 2 hours. Plus whatever the rebuild takes.
I believe these cars are the very definition of "a lemon" and was destined to fail shortly after the mileage warranty expires. If Chevrolet had any integrity, they would scrap the Spark model... at least the automatic transmission version. My big German heritage hands would never fit in that tiny engine so I either have to pay a mechanic with small hands or use skinny tools coupled with mechanic language (aka cussing).
Excellent job. Thanks for sharing the video. Definitely NOT a DIY driveway weekend project.
Thanks and nope I would dread it!
I now see why most transmission shops won't even touch the Sparks with a bad CVT. It's a shame a 5 speed swap out isn't an option.

They can be a real pain in the ass.
Thanks for the comment

Couldn’t tell you for sure, but I’m guessing it’s internal

You’re right every 15 or every 30 would be better but I doubt you hurt it. Was probably on the way out anyway.

A lot of practice. Not an easy one to do.
I'm a bit unfamiliar with chevys. Is this the same set up, mechanically speaking, as a 2017 spark.
Probably but you’d have to look at the video and look at your car to see if they’re similar Good luck thanks for the car man
It is different unfortunately
Looks like the job with the cost of the trans is two times what the whole car is worth.
Yeah probably won’t have to do too many more of these! Thanks for the comment!
Locally, Central Southwest Virginia, the job was priced at $6K. The value of it is $3,350. I have a very expensive, very ugly lawn ornament now.
You definitely earn your check
I work hard and show up every day!
Awesome video mate
Thanks!!
How long would it take you to do that swap if you weren't videoing and you were in your groove?
I really try to not take too much time on videoing because I’m on the clock so not much different. Thanks for the question and the comment!
I have a 2017 spark tranny's needs changed can i bring this to you to do the job.
Yep we are in Columbus Ohio.
Over 5k$?

I’m guessing probably a two week turnaround time but it could be a little bit less just ask for dealer they should give you an idea
Can you pull the engine and transmission from the top and replace the transmission out of the car?
Why would you?
Maybe if you don’t have a lift

I’m guessing that’s internal probably be there behind the valve body.

I don’t think so.

It’s a cvt. Jatco
Where do you get the transmission?

nice job,,,,nice video....
Thanks!
2014, 2021 same transmission
Thanks for the info!!

Ridiculous, the car isn't worth the parts and crazy labor, junk it, planned obselencense.
