  • In this video, I remove the old CVT fluid my mechanic put into the spark incorrectly and I replace it with GM OEM fluid purchased from Amazon. These Jatco Transmission have a history of failing, and I hope I can keep mine running as long as possible. Feel free to ask any questions.

That is just a strainer on the bottom of the valve body according to GM, there is a actual filter on the side of the transmission, it's just behind the main harness connectors on the transmission. It's a single bolt holding in the metal cup that goes around it. Just do some wiggling and it'll come out. Just FYI other manufactures like Valvoline make clear CVT fluid, your fluid looked brand new so someone had taken good care of that car fluid wise.

Yeah I would buy 6.5 quarts to be safe for your replacement because what you pull out is what you should put back in. I pulled out 4.2 quarts for some reason but websites are saying 6.5? Just double check your fluid level.

I have a 2016 spark Korean GM version and I have a question, I wanted to check the oil level in the automatic transmission box but the dipstick is very short, it is barely 2 inches long, how do I check the level if it doesn't even reach the bottom of the filling tube??? When comparing it with other models, they come with the longest rod and when I check the part number, it offers me the one with the short rod.

But if yours and others lasted that long between changes I should have no problems having mine serviced and it still continue to function as normal. on my 2016 the dip stick in just a little nudge, the way you tell if its full is the drain plug at the bottom there is another tube inside of that you fill it till it stops coming out of the drain plug, if you were to just remove the drain plug to drain your fluid it would not drain, you would have to remove the tube under the drain plug witch is a Allen key i believe
