The scene on the beach where Crockett is walking up in white and, Castillo is in black, is so surreal..so Iconic. The visuals in Vice and the music will never be equaled.
There is/was nothing as iconic as Miami Vice... Cars, clothes, women, plots, colours, music etc etc etc...what an absolutely groundbreaking tv show. 40 years later still fresh and worth watching.
@@richardhart9204 not that kids were all hung up on . Nobody talked about it in high school except for Saturday night live Dana Carveys impersonation of Ronald Reagan that was epic . Imagine if Ronald and Margaret had a child together
A buddy of mine and I showed up as Crockett and Tubbs for a Halloween party in 2012. I was Crockett, and he was Tubbs (my friend is black). We brought police badge, gun and holster props. I wore a bouffant 80s wig since my hair is nowhere near as cool as Don’s. I wish my friend wore a jeri curl wig to crown it all up but I couldn’t convince him to go all the way 😂 Overall, I think we pulled it off decently; we sure had a blast 💥
I graduate high school in 85 senior class trip was to Florida the show was so iconic that most of us in the class trip to Florida was dressed in a Crockett or tubs styles outfits casual style look it was the thing back then. You just had to be there. lol
Dude, if we put on the side all the visuals, music and style of the 80s and this movie, can we please talk about of the number of stars and cast that the show had? Starting from Bruce Willis right next to John Turturo, then Liam Nelson and others. It's insane.
The 80s was the time for music. We had the best music they were at the top of their game. We had the flashiest clothes and jewelry and cars. Everything was as good as you could buy, and it was all wrapped up in one show and you could see it every week, it gave you motivation just watched it. I have ever DVD
Initially, the 80s were destined to be even browner than the 70s, just check early 80s fashion, television shows and films. Miami Vice unintentionally came in as the gamechanger.
Amazing - so many changes since then!!! I'm trying to find some of the filming locations on google earth now, and the landscape is so changed, and there are so many buildings in the way!!! especially in the views of Brickell and downtown Miami.
In a vague sense, Crockett's appearance and style do not change much; He is always known to have blonde hair and a sun tan, and is usually seen sporting a 5 o'clock shadow and wearing a loose fitting suit over a T-shirt, paired with deck shoes or loafers without socks. However, over the seasons various aspects of Crockett's appearance change; in the first season Crockett's hairstyle is short and parted over on the side; in the second season it becomes slightly longer in the front and becomes a combed back bouffant-like style; in the third season Crockett's hairstyle becomes short and spikey, and gradually grows out in the back, making it mullet-like; in the fourth season Crockett's hairstyle reverts to being bouffant-like in the front and remains mullet-like, and grows out as the season progresses; for the fifth season Crockett is first portrayed with a stylish ponytail until he regains his memory, after which his hairstyle becomes long and parted over on one side and continues to grow to its longest length. In the first two seasons Crockett's suits and shirts are tailored in pastel colors, while they are instead dark neons for the third season; In the fourth season Crockett's clothing style becomes a mixture of his first two looks; In the fifth season Crockett wears darker shades different from the other seasons and also begins being seen half the time with stonewashed blue jeans and/or a jean jacket paired with sneakers or cowboy boots. Don Johnson originally wanted Crockett to dress more like an urban cowboy, with leather boots, jeans and buttoned shirts, It was only when he arrived in Miami and felt the constant heat and humidity that he changed his mind and followed Michael Mann's ideas of a pastel linen suit look for Crockett. In the very early portion of the first season, Crockett wears brown Carrera 5512 Large sunglasses and Alpina TR 4 glasses; for most of the first season and all of the second season, Crockett wears tortoise shell Ray-Ban Wayfarers. In the third season, Crockett wears black Persol Ratti 69218 glasses. For the fourth and fifth seasons, Crockett wears black Ray Ban Wayfarers, however he wore blue mirrored Revo sunglasses while masquerading as Sonny Burnett. In season 1-2, Crockett was a chain smoker, something that was initially considered by some fans to be one of his trademarks. Some episodes (such as "Brother's Keeper" and "Calderone's Return (Part II)") showed that he preferred unfiltered Lucky Strikes. Throughout season 3, Crockett was no longer seen smoking, and by the season 4 episode "Death and the Lady", he reveals that he has quit altogether. This change was a result of real-life pressure from censors in 1986 during the height of Miami Vice's popularity, as they expressed concern that young men who tried to emulate Crockett would take up smoking. As an interesting bit of trivia, Sonny Crockett's fashion was allegedly inspired by John Taylor of Duran Duran, who, in the video for "Hungry Like the Wolf" is seen wearing a white sportcoat and white slacks with no shirt and slip-on shoes. As the show was in development at the time of the video, this idea was noted. Conversely, Don Johnson maintains that his not wearing buttoned shirts or socks with his suits, as well as the often rolled up sleeves, were simply due to the intense heat he encountered in Miami during filming of the episodes, which caused him to remove items of clothing to be comfortable.
There is not enough O's in the word smooth to describe Donnie Wayne Johnson, from vice to Nash bridges. At 49 years old these wonderful tv shows will always be the tops
Sonny had the greatest hair ever...I spent hours in the mirror as a kid trying to get my thick, curly hair to act like that, lol...now I'm just glad I have hair at all 😁
Miami Vice walked so GTA could run. You can really see the influence this had on Rockstar. A great look at fashion trends from that period and interesting characters.
The Elvis wardrobe would be extremely hard to pass as an 80's costume, but everything else is good to go, especially the 'Fat Boys' threads. If that black kangol hat with the Adidas lookin' jumpsuit don't spell E-I-G-H-T-I-E-S, then I don't know what does.😁
The Burnett arc is season 4 and 5 was so epic. Great casting and scripting. Wish it had run longer. Real shame thyey never made a real Miami Vice get together.
Ps two more things Miami Vice helped Miami in the early years be appealing and a tourist attraction and the Miami Vice theme only tv theme to be an international hit
Hot shot material. I think that theses timeless episodes were directed by a smart director. Not precious but it denotes from a dream area and a strong masculinity. Dressed as male chauvinists, their police methods are a deep impact on this one. God bless America !

So agree 👍
