Beautiful and sounds great. It's funny that last week I received an order of LPs and after playing one that was a jazz album from the late '50s it wasn't until after I listened to it and was looking at the cover I realized it was a mono. It sounded great, and I surmise it's just that growing up with mono my mind fell back into that mode, kinda like when I watch old black and white movies.
I remember working on one similar to that one, it too was mono, however when I opened it up ,it actually had a second amplifier that did not have power to it, apparently there was an external speaker cabinet you could buy But the tuner was strictly mono, some actually had mpx adapters thar could be hooked up. You have a great piece there.
So that is what supposedly drove the extra cabinet with speaker that my dad had! I was 4 and jumping around on the sofa and fell mouth first into the side and top putting a gash in my mouth that required stitches. My adult bottom teeth came out a bit crooked and my inner lower lip has a scar inside my mouth. Never had this console but there was one made and man I have the scars to prove it! Same drawer pull for more record storage. He used it with a 1958 Knight tube system setup , AM/FM tuner, separate amplifier, etc (cheap looking grey metal cabinetry ) as it was a budget designed Hi-Fi, which you can still find for sale sometimes. Good job on it Steve but now my mouth hurts!
I have a Motorola which is something like this, except it only has an amp and turntable, no tuner. It's basically the same without the side cabinet. The tweeters are electro static. Is the amp a 6v6?
wow, very nice console, the tone arm looks very cool!
My dad worked for Motorola for 18 years. I remember him telling me about this model.
You always find the Best stuff ; your the Man Steve.
