I originally set up this channel to showcase vintage stereo consoles and record players that I have restored as a video demo for customers on my Etsy store: www.etsy.com/shop/MidCenturySound, and my own website store: www.mid-centurysound.com/store
It has since morphed into a channel to also allow people to remember the good old days of analog stereo!
Feel free to leave comments, but remember, this is not a forum where you can prove your superior knowledge of all things stereo and leave negative comments, you are "persona non grata" if you do.

DUAL Turntable New Bearing Upgrade Speed Test....
I have this stereo. I love it so much.
That is impressive!
Barry knocked it out of the park !!!
GORGEOUS! Barry really brought that cabinet back to life. I can't wait to see the final results, Steve, when all of the components are repaired and reinstalled. :)
My mom's sister was awesome at redoing furniture. It looked like brandnew.. My grandmother loved consoles because she was able to decorate with her knick knacks.
i just picked up one of these for $60 It plays great and looks good too
Fantastico!!!
Need to find how you buy the caps. No luck in voice of music site
The golden age of walnut. It’s the reason teenage boys had muscles. Even Bose speakers had walnut sides. I remember buying my first Nakamichi cassette deck and it was all plastic.
I'd like to see some hipster give its new life.
you should restore it
I have restored over 300 consoles...how about you do one?
Bond.....James Bond
My selector switch is moving and not clicking. I think the mechanism inside is broken. Does anybody know a place that sells that part?
Nice , wish I had room for another ....
Very sexy looking.
When I was growing up, we had a Philco record player in the front parlor. Oh, the record albums, the 45s, and the 78s I used to play way back when.
Thanks!
WHAT A WONDERFUL TIME IT WAS, ENOUGH TO BRING TEARS TO YOUR EYES! THANK YOU!!!
Nice job, i would have it apart, and it never going back together.
in that time the vinyl was real sterephonic with full dimensional audio. aswell the reel ecxept without scratch
Hello, I've the same model but a selector/auto-stop switch under the tone arm is broken and i cant find it. How to get that switch? But my zenith is working manually/by hand.

Badass! Great Job!
the beast of beasts - sounds wonderful, of course. (listening via my ‘62 Imperial)
I have a similar one. The stereo doesn't work unfortunately. Looking to repair and restore it, but I don't even know where to start.
There should be a cottage industry taking old TUBE console stereos with magnetic phono inputs and replacing the old turntables putting in 200 dollar or better modern turntables. If you really want to go whole hog you could improve the crossovers and or update the internal speakers. There is company in the San Diego area that sells brand new consoles with decent modern electronics starting at around 4 grand. Refurbing clean old ones is a no brainer - especially for folks who are into mid century design.
Man you probably charge lots to re cap them.. I got one and don't kno anyone to work on...
I have two on the bench at the moment from customers who sent them in. You can reach me through my website.....

Hold down the record button while engaging the play lever.....
@@SteveScarlet unfortuantly that doesnt work. Also when i pull the lever to play, the tape turns very slowly and then stops. Maybe i have to lube it. What for lube can i use for this?
@@nickven156 needs a complete service...
Got a 63 . Makes a little pop wen i turn it on but no power. Any idea? Do they have a fuse ?
Got one few days ago..no power.. just a pop when I tur. The power on.. any idea why? Does it have a fuse? 1963
I seriously want a Manhattan now
My dad had one of these in a lighter colour but the section with the radio and controls was empty and was made for record storage. You could stack 4 or 5 records on an arm and they’d play (on the side facing upwards) one after another. I remember playing records on it as a kid. What a beautiful piece you have there.👌
Just curious, are these beautiful consoles for sale?
Usually....
Great job-brings back memories. Used to fix these/Magnavox etc then pro audio like Tascam/Studer/Sal mixer brds crown etc. Those were the day.
Something like that was in the living room of the house I grew up in. I have fond memories of it.
I have the same unit. It sounds awesome with new age tower speakers.
A true beauty. A really professional restoration. Well done !
Maybe not ? But it looks very similar to the one in the "Yesterday" sequence of the Maysles' film "Salesman" where the guy is so proud of his Hi-Fi.
I like this. You’re right about older electronics.
Those DUALS were nice.
Beautiful and what rich full sound.
WOW
Excellent find and a great restoration of magnificent time peice from a great era in home sound. It can only increase in value from here.
Damn, they used to make such wonderfull things, didn't they? Magnificent!
I wish I could have kept the one we had. 7 inch reel to reel AM FM and turntable. Dual folded top. The taper player had sound over with a mic.
You Only Live Twice ! Nice console.
Awesome console, and now I have to pull out that album and give it a spin, lol.

How much is this model worth today?
