I originally set up this channel to showcase vintage stereo consoles and record players that I have restored as a video demo for customers on my Etsy store: www.etsy.com/shop/MidCenturySound, and my own website store: www.mid-centurysound.com/store
It has since morphed into a channel to also allow people to remember the good old days of analog stereo!
Feel free to leave comments, but remember, this is not a forum where you can prove your superior knowledge of all things stereo and leave negative comments, you are "persona non grata" if you do.

A musical shrine. 😊
My parents living room circa 1970.
First time me hearing this album was on a stereo console in 1979.
Im digging it
Double hinged top?
Yup….
What a beauty this is. Memories.
Beautiful
I've got a 1962 Zenith SFF2560W (or SFF2560Y), and a while back, the sound cut out and was replaced by a kinda high pitch hiss. Do you think it could be a tube, or is it a sign of a more expensive problem like needing a cap job?
Probably both....
I overhauled one of these 6 months ago. Its one of the better sounding units I've done in awhile.
Which ELO album is on your turntable
Discovery
I love it! Love that BSR turntable!
Looks great!
Excellent choice for demo! One of ELO's best! I'm still wanting that little Stromberg-Carlson . ;-(
What a lovely instrument. I truly miss stereo consoles.
What is the name of the song and the singer?
Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) - "Last Train To London". Jeff Lynne is the leader and the lead singer.
@owlnswan4016 thank- you
Wow!
Bravo! Another piece of art/furniture saved!
Very nice!
Steve. You have done it again! Bravo! Great GE sound in a beautiful cabinet!
😊👍👍👍
Is it for sale?
Just saw the price...Can't do it but love it
Great video. Thanks for that. I got one from a friend and this helps a lot (I am a complete newbie 😊) ❗ Unfortunately I have one thing I just can't find online. I got one without an element and it looks like a sliding mechanism (not like the connectors with two screws I see in almost all other old players). Could you tell me what type of cartridge/needle I need to do look for? What would be a good value one? Many thanks ❗
I have the an RCA Victrola with the same turn table and this has been so helpful. Does anyone have the part number for the Idler wheel from Voice of Music?

the shield is for RF to lower noise floor
What is “noise floor”?
My grandfather had one of these when I was a kid. He was so proud of it as it was basically the only really nice thing he owned. He would play Lawrence Welk and Jim Nabors albums. A thousand years ago.....
Great job, Steve! That walnut is beautiful!
Hey Steve, great video, i own this exact same model and i just checked out your website! your not to far from me!
I have one of these that needs to be restored, what would one of these be worth?
I have the sa k e model and m y turntable quit working does anyone else have this problem what should I do??
Hi Steve, I'd like to ask you a couple of questions about separating the GE electronics from the tape mechanism. I have The Kalmar C443h by GE, and I have finished restoring the amp, tuner and record changer, and now I'm ready to work on the reel-to-reel. My tape deck model number is TD210-1, which is probably the same as yours. Anyway, is removing the electronics as simple as removing the 4 bolts on either side of the amp chassis that is hanging from the tape mechanism? Is it easier to do this while the tape deck is mounted inside the stereo cabinet? In your video above, you have the player sitting on a table, which I assume is sitting on the electronics chassis, with maybe the fan motor hanging over the edge of the table?? I have GE service instructions for the tape deck, which contain tape deck info and the electronics schematic, but no info on separating the two parts. Any tips on this would be appreciated. Thanks, Stan
Yes the four bolts are holding the two parts together, it's easier on the bench. Pull the fan blade off so it doesn't break. Once apart you will have to loosen the speed selector to get it open enough to work on it.....
Thanks for the info Steve!
Do they have these in Birmingham?
Hell...yeah...👍🍺🫡🔈🔈🔈... !
Hi do you still offer the recapping kits for this? I have 2 I want to do
la même mécanique que sur le Grundig de mes parents...j'en ai usé des disques là dessus

I haven't seen a Sears console in years! Who made their record changers? Great job, as always.
Stunning.
Looks great ,l would have liked to see what it looks like with a deep red or maroon felt mat ,think it would really suit it
