My parents passed away in the last couple of years. They had a late 1950's Grundig Majestic console with FM/Shortwave radio, reel to reel tape, and turntable. We tried to find someone who would care for it and restore it to it's original state but no one was really interested in it. One of my brothers friends took it and supposedly will attempt to get it working properly. Like the piece in the video, it was made with walnut and was a beauty.
Gorgeous! I have a 1963 Fisher Futura like the one you did a series of programs on. It is one of my goals to redo it sometime before 500th birthday. And that wasn't a typo. Thanks for showing the GE off.
I had that very same stereo console anchor! The speaker cover fabric is slightly different but everything else was the same. Sadly mine became infested with termites and most of the wood became spongy. Rescued the guts (except the speakers), though. Sadz.
@@SteveScarlet Thanks. Looks pretty hefty for the time (big heatsinks and TO-3 output transistors. I think the most impressive of consoles was the Magnavox Concert Grand with all those 6V6 tubes!!!

Sounds incredible!!! Very nice!!
Mantovani, always a good choice. That wood on top is beautiful.
The cane style is perfect!
Lovely piece of kit
Beautiful unit love these old GM units
You mean, GE, not GM.

My mom's parents had one next to the grand stone fireplace in the living room.
Great job as always , R2R is a VM model.
You are correct sir, VM transport, GE electronics....
Good timing on the ending of the song :)
Not this exact one, but very similar. I think it was an RCA Victor. Early maybe mid 60s. No reel to reel.
Is that the original tone arm?
I'd like to see what's inside (amplifier, speakers, etc.) being an audio technician.
It's virtually the same as this: ruclips.net/video/xgbnWVqghew/видео.htmlsi=u4EUtLfbURPcOG2p
