I had one for three days, went back to the store since it was already broken. I didn't personally buy it. It seems like all of them use the very same turntable assembly ran by a casette player motor. I believe it's just a gadget aimed at average hipster teens.
MisterTalkingMachine I have to say: "I wish people would stop thinking all teens do not care about sound!". I do! Check out my channel to see how much I do! I think Crosley is crap though and don't think it is marketed toward teens at all!
Joshua's Recordings I actually do not think al teens do not care about sound. They, and most people nowadays, can be even quite demanding to listen to things like noisy records, or AM radio. The thing about the Crosleys, it that though they are very low end, they are expensive, and much people fall for their shiny looks and the old Crosley fame. If it wasn't for their overprizing, I wouldn't care about them, since as bad as they are, they are not a new thing. I have come across old players of the 80's that are actually built exactly like today's Crosleys, but they were cheap, popular brands like 'International'. I currently have a player that costed me one tenth of a Crosley price tag to build from parts, some of them I got for free or scavenged from TV's. It has big flaws, but it performs as good as the Crosley, and if it falls from the table (like it has done once or twice) you just pick it up and nothing happens to it. More than teens, it is obvious that it 's in general, aimed towards people who don't know that they are paying so much for. They may receive a broken device that performs nowhere near what they wanted, if it performs at all. Not always much a matter of sound, some people like me just like to place the darn piece of shellac on that bulky device and hear some crispy Glenn Miller even if the people around me cover their ears. Nice videos, mate, I think I actually have seen one or two of them before.
MisterTalkingMachine Yea, I have come across some Crosley units, they suck! I once repaired one for my Grandfather (it was less then a year old), the circuit boards had water damage on them! I remember he told me he bought a record player half off, then I saw it was a Crosley and was like "ohhh..." I agree Crosleys suck and are GPX boombox quality sold for a high price tag. Though I have to agree on one part, most people I know that are teens, do not give a hoot about sound. Some are perfectly fine listening to music on 1" apple speakers and junk quality earpods! That makes me sad! What have we come to!!
Joshua's Recordings I have to say though I do not like much those one inchers, they come to solve the same issue that pocket transistor radios did in the old days: Portability. Their perfomance can be similar as well, since both were subject to the same limitations. No big surprise that most people use consumer grade products (and because of that, those are called 'consumer grade', mind you). One inchers and regular earbuds fit in there most of the time. Many one inchers I have taken apart are nearly built the same way, no matter who manufactured them (either Apple or whatever nameless chinese company), and they perform as good as they can while being quite cheap. No problem there, you pay, and receive what you paid for. Now, the average Crosley amplifier is about the same of the one incher, and the speakers tend to be the same as well; but the real issue is that the mechanical part of the Crosley is very poor. The portable amplifier barey has any mechanism, (volume knob and that's it) and is built on a thick plastic case, not much to it. It is simple, and because of it, quite robust. They lack any record playing assembly made like plastic food plates.
I'm into Hifi in a big way, I found this video so funny and agree this sort of gear does nothing but to damage records and yet some reasonable into quality audio gear doesn't cost that much more
The combination of choice of records with the scientifically chosen testing grounds is hilarious. I couldn't stop grinning throughout the video. Who would design a record player in a suitcase with a sigaret lighter adapter indeed :) I guess there must be people who love listening to records playing in their cars really badly, or people who carry electric sigaret lighters and a lead acid battery in their pockets :p
Seen that Disney Addition and Subtraction record my whole life, but never bothered to pick one up before. That cannibal song is pure gold, and up on RUclips.I know a record store dollar bin that has a copy,I'm going to go pick up.Waiting for a video with the Crosley in an off road vehicle, followed by an EOL.
I still have my copy of the same LP in my collection. The record is in excellent which I've got at a flea market since 2004. "shango" also has a beat up copy. As for the suitcase record player by Crosley, not the best modern record player in the world. Thanks to China. I should stick with vintage record player such as my GE Wildcat, but that was also a suitcase stereo record player with a changer. General Electric is better than Crosley.
Funniest video I've watched in a long time. The idea of a road test in a car, playing a John Birch or Disney record, I mean there's too much comedy there. An anti-skating feature would have made all the difference. BTW, the Birchers were right about the threat of Communism.
This is towarded to teachers in their 40's wanting to reminisce their school days as they listen to their 60's children stories. Or maybe some old timer thinking he's buying some piece of craftsmanship like how stuff used to be back in the day. He sits in down in his bedroom and plays his old 45's. Being nostalgic and all, sees no difference in quality. I see it all the time
I wouldn't be surprised if there was actually a '70s car commercial that demonstrates the smooth, quiet ride by having someone drive around with a record player in the front seat lol... I've seen some commercials that pull off similar stunts... like one for the 1972 Ford LTD that has a violinist recording a song while the car drives around downtown San Francisco.
What is the John Birch Society...hahaha nice. Perfect for road testing. Ironically you seem to be road testing this in a Chrysler. Chrysler actually had record players in their cars in the 50's.
The Crosley "record player" excels at one thing: playing potentially unwanted LP's at 78 rpm and turning them into instant chipmunks records. :). Unfortunately, the anti-skip mechanism was overlooked by the *cough* engineers *cough* at Crosley. Good vid, keep them coming!
I think well-intended and uninformed people buy these for their aged relatives and friends. It's sad really. Very fun and entertaining video as always!
Even with her diminished hearing, my late elderly mother realized just from looking at them more closely in the shops, that they would never be worth the cost, so she spared herself that massive letdown.
We've lost the battle, you can't get rid of these things. For one single unit that's destroyed, at least a thousand are produced and shipped worldwide under many different names and guises. And people buy them, and buy them, and.......We are like cows, the Chinese are clever.
This Crosley record player is okay and that is a stretch of the word. I have heard of some people buying them and modifying them by changing out the crappy tone arm and cartridge. I wouldn't even do that since they are so poorly built. I would still be concerned the damn thing would ruin my records. The road test was hilarious. At low speeds and no bumps in the road the player did good. Turning either directing wow the player scratched the hell outta those records. Very interesting video.
I picked this same one up at Goodwill. I know Crosleys will eventually ruin records. Ive seen and heard everyone say that. So its a good thing Ive got some records that are beat up. The one i got had no sticker on the bottom and no where was the brand name printed but I kinda had a feeling it was a Crosley and seeing your video, now i know it is one lol
I'm gonna have to stop by Professor Crosley's office after I finish class because I'm stuck on this arithmetic problem - every time I divide 15 by 12 i get 1.25 and the answer key says 0.5, hmmm must be doing something wrong . hahahaha
My history teacher bought a similar unit to this. Its smaller, the speakers are on the front, and she bought it because it was teal. She brought it to class with a couple records and she used it for the first time. Its brand new. The sound quality is HORRIBLE!!! The speakers are so small and the (lack of) cabinet design renders the internal speakers useless...
Funny, This kind of brings back fond memories of my childhood years ago. we used to have a whole collection of those old Disney records that my mother used to play on the old 1970s Panasonic combo unit w/ those thrusters speakers he he.
Vertex Arcade reason i ask is because they use motorola 23" black and white monitors, i got one that has the image "trapizoid" wide at top, narrow at bottow. Its an atari "Night driver"
What boggles the mind is that the millennial generation has been brainwashed into thinking these are the "hip" thing to buy. They think that "vinyls" played on these sound soooo much better than other formats. Oh Lord have we raised a generation of total suckers. Next thing you know, they will discover the wonder of radio.
Fear not, there are plenty of us who know what we're talking about. Though I'm a few years too old to be a millennial, I'm not far off - and it seems the more interest people have in the format the more they realise just how terrible these players are, but retain an interest in records none the less. I've gone shopping with friends in old flee markets and helped them put together really nice sounding hifi units using high quality vintage equipment, mostly for less than £150 a pop. To put that into perspective, if you went into HMV in the UK and wanted to purchase a turntable (though giving it the name turntable is probably landing it with more credit than it's due), you'd spend the same amount on a Crosley Cruiser with two terrible speakers bundled with it. Long story short, though these players are terrible - for those serious about music, they'll understand that these things are garbage and quickly find an alternative. The ones who aren't serious will use them till they're out of fashion, and then they'll all be off to the tip, where they belong.
when i saw 'road test' in the description, i thought (and hoped) it was gonna be dumped in the middle of a road for a nice big truck to run over it...😈😜
I got that Sister Sledge album!I also have 2 Crosleys. I bought one for myself, and my Dad. Yeah, they aren't the best, but better than nothing. I got a Audio Technica later.
It is Junk!!!....time to let it burn ❤️🔥!!!!...thanks for the radio videos....show more E O L videos.....also show reviews on multi band radios and Shortwave!!!
A blistering 6W. Must be Cheap Chinese Math™. The first guy on the John Birch record sounded like Jonathan Winters. I fully expected to hear Maude Frickert.
Nice Diplomat! I would find those crappy Crosley record players at flea markets, "fix" them by overriding the switch that stops the turntable, which was inevitably broken, and then installing a 12 volt gel battery like the one you used, inside the unit. Wiring the battery up in parallel with the 12 volt wall wart connector, so the wall wart becomes the charger. Record weasels like them, because they can test unknown records at flea markets and yard sales, and discover a new gem. Those record players are good for picnics, as long as everyone stays close to the record player, and the have excellent hearing.
My GE Wildcat doesn't have batteries, it has an AC power cord. That doesn't work in any vehicle. If they do with the Wildcat, they need to retro mod with a battery compartment replacing the power cord for the GE Wildcat.
i think the appeal is supposed to be that you can set it up almost anywhere, like when you're camping or going to a friends place. i was actually considering buying one until i did some research and found out about the terrible technical desighn and build quality, crosleys are a fucking shit on a decent idea.
Don't buy a turntable that is $100 or less if you want a vinyl to last long. Basically the needles on allot of turn tables that are under $100 or less will destroy your vinyl's grooves after a very few listens. Always clean your records if you see allot of dust and use one of the right methods and don't press too hard if you use a brush. that will make it last longer with a good record player. Also you should get a really good set of speakers for your record player. Also you should make sure your record player isn't really dusty every time you listen to a vinyl record. Also you should keep your vinyl in the case when your not listening. Also you should not let your vinyl be stored in and store your vinyl records vertically . With these tips you can make you keep your vinyl records sounding great and not have pops or clicks and last basically forever unless you harm the vinyl badly on accident or purpose. I know owning good stuff for vinyl may cost you allot of money, but if you are in to good sounding vinyl its worth saving your money to get good stuff for vinyl. DON'T BUY ANY CROSSLY RECORD PLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here are some helpful videos about vinyl ruclips.net/video/L2QfjcgDjsY/видео.html ruclips.net/video/_WzrK6CIZrY/видео.html ruclips.net/video/h6AZLVJwzqs/видео.html ruclips.net/video/yV6ZwpLuyk4/видео.html ruclips.net/video/BUIVkpw9eNk/видео.html ruclips.net/video/0hraFopBoWM/видео.html Also these sleeves are good. They come with 50 sleeves per pack www.amazon.com/Mobile-Fidelity-Inner-Sleeves-50Pk/dp/B001LQSFKY/192-0801735-2018313?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B001LQSFKY&linkCode=as2&linkId=AJ6IUVP4CQM4HR7W&redirect=true&ref_=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl&tag=vineye-20 If you want to keep your vinyl records from having skips and/or cracks and/or pops, one of the things you should never do is have a portable record player, almost all of them are crap, and also never play vinyl with a portable record player in a moving vehicle. and put a vinyl back in the case when your done using it and also make sure you clean the dust away when you see allot of dust on a vinyl. You have to be extremely careful when you take off a paper sleeve for a vinyl, you should take it off very gently or else it may scratch the vinyl.
Dont put link in comments, I can say it till im blue in the face and no one listens. You spend all this time and the thing goes right into the spam folder and I have to approve it.
+The Troll Damage is more likely done by worn or damage stylus than heavy pickup because vinyl is not that fragile. Check +vwestlife video "Will a cheap record player DESTROY your vinyl?". I can't put a link or Google spam filter catches me.
Likely 15 watts AC consumption but it was more important for you to know that its made in China more than anything else.. No need to tell you much of anything else
i have a 1949 RCA 45ey1 tube unit and it sound why better then this and yes i have a 1960 fleetwood suite case type tubes and treble and bass all auto BSR UA8 that machine is a want to be those china junk will never come up to the old equipment just drop it and see it it survives the fall
I have imported 3 of these models into Australia to see what they are like, my first one is a 2002 tweed colour, from what I find it isn't bad for the sound the 5x3 speakers give, 45s and 78s play adequately loud with the volume reaching it's max with knob 3/4 open
lol even the soundesign i have has a tonearm that doesn't wiggle. the platter leans to the sude, but it can be fixed if i took the time. i mean how in the hell do these companies thing a wiggling tonearm is good!
3:23 "Hope I don't ruin my rec-" *drops tonearm on the record* 😂
Powell Crosley is rolling over in his grave at Spring Grove Cemetery about using his name on this.
I had one for three days, went back to the store since it was already broken.

You should have done a brake test so we could see it fly off the seat and slam into the car's firewall! That would have been awesome!
Maybe put it in the flimsiest box you can find, put smash me all over it and have UPS deliver it to TvRadioPhonoNut for an unboxing video ? ;)
Dennis Hill Sounds good to me. It would be interesting to see a box arrive, with "smash me" stickers all over it.
Dennis Hill
Dennis Hill
9:00 should try this on Montreal's famous pot-holed streets in Montreal.
I would like to see this on a off road test
***** yup
RAMON ORTIZ Haha YES!!
Thumbs down for the Crosley..... major thumbs up for the Dodge Diplomat!
I was disappointed that you didn't do a REAL road test - throw the damn thing out the window at 50 mph just to see how it reacts to the ROAD!!!
Quantum Leap that is a great idea
LOL OMG THAT WOULD BE HALERIOUS!!!
Can't wait for the next Crosley review! These videos just get better and better! :D

+siskokidd a little spring or a rubber should had served as a good antiskating, hehe
siskokidd who needs that useless convoluted anti-skating when you've got REAL authentic chinese plastic
I am laffing.. especially at your talk record in the car...wonderful! great video.
I see it all the time
Something tells me there is definitely a Part II coming.....
Did I hear that right? They were singing about cannibals?
That's what I heard!!! You weren't hearing things. :)
Yes...
Disappointed in myself for only just having found this video. Disappointed in you, Shango, for not road testing this on the end of a tow rope :D
Yeah, and it was a miserable failure, too.
Couldn't stop laughing 😆
Knuckles the Echidna Me niether.
7:50 - that particular record might make the car pull harder to the right! lmao...
That "floating tone arm" is as good as those in AR TTs.
The anti-skate works very well. I think that this would be an excellent DJ TT.
Woow this is funny as hell. an old record player + while driving a beastly car = GHETTONESS lol I can't stop laughing. I Love It!!

It will be a nice EOL video
Pulls 15 watts if it shorts out and fails lol
Dude what the hell's with the campfire while you were driving!?
That Dodge Diplomat....holy awesomeballs!
Thats a beautiful record player, top notch precision quality
What year is that Diplomat?
I got a new record player and I would like to know if it's good. It is a Art+Sound 6-1 Entertainment System
This Crosley record player is okay and that is a stretch of the word. I have heard of some people buying them and modifying them by changing out the crappy tone arm and cartridge. Wait, you can change the tone arm? I want to mod this turntable for playing 78s, can you link a replacement tonearm?
your car is awesome.😇
I picked this same one up at Goodwill. I know Crosleys will eventually ruin records. Ive seen and heard everyone say that. So its a good thing Ive got some records that are beat up. Chrysler HiWay HiFi ?
My history teacher bought a similar unit to this. Its smaller, the speakers are on the front, and she bought it because it was teal. Nice case. I could see it used for a 5-10 watt "suitcase" guitar amp.
Would some glue and a coin on the needle end of the arm help? It did the job on the ships broadcasting music from the Northsea :)
Your own version of Highway HiFi!
Funny, This kind of brings back fond memories of my childhood years ago. we used to have a whole collection of those old Disney records that my mother used to play on the old 1970s Panasonic combo unit w/ those thrusters speakers he he.
The finest in Chinese craftsmanship. :)
do you ever come across or work on arcade machines from mid to late 70's?
Vertex Arcade reason i ask is because they use motorola 23" black and white monitors, i got one that has the image "trapizoid" wide at top, narrow at bottow. Its an atari "Night driver"
The turntable draws 6 Watts, and the AC adapter draws 15 Watts. The difference of 9 Watts is the waste heat generated by the AC adapter.
I bought One i sold It straight away
always loved that putting a 33 on the 45 speed how to make a person sound like a chipmonk XD
AAAALLLLLLLVVVVVVVVVVVVVIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!
You probably have an AGM battery. Gel cell aren't manufactured anymore, save for a few large specialty types.
"The flutter is cool huh?"
Oh, I thought we were listening to Belinda Carlisle....
The market for these would be as gifts for someone who isn't going to use it and never wanted it in the first place.
That was a cool ride. friggin hilarious
This would make a great Myth Busters video.
Damn the audio bandwidth of these really does suck, they must top out at 7khz, id like to see you put one under the oscilloscope shango just to see
5:29 hahahahahaha I laughed so hard on this hahahahaha
They Don't Have Good Audio Output
But They Sound Good Hooked Up
To A Good Quality Stereo Receiver.& Speakers.
Most People Buy Them For That.
The only thing I'd salvage out of that thing is the 45 RPM adapter.
These things are grade A garbage.
You can hear the feedback from the speakers directly below the platter
It may just be me but it seems like everything Crosley makes puts out has very wooly sound
+Craig Willis It actually does
+Craig Willis maybe because they grind down the grooves in records until there are no high frequencies left

Sheesh, "Vinyls" makes me think of that Vinyl Eyezz dood... then blood starts gushing out of my ear canals and eye sockets.
Highway Hi-Fi, Crosley style
That baby ROCKS!!
damn, the tone arm must be 15 grams or something.
The stock tracking force is 6.5g, I have shortened the spring in rear of tonearm to get it down to 4.3g
@DIMENSION J that's encroaching too closely into Tennessee Ernie Ford territory, pardner...
when i saw 'road test' in the description, i thought (and hoped) it was gonna be dumped in the middle of a road for a nice big truck to run over it...😈😜
i will say, though, it seems a fair bit better than the crappier 'cruiser' model
@@andygozzo72 actually it Is better
I got that Sister Sledge album!I also have 2 Crosleys. I bought one for myself, and my Dad. Yeah, they aren't the best, but better than nothing. I got a Audio Technica later.
This is why 8 track tapes are so superior to this mess. Do you have any of those RCA under dash 45 RPM players that play upside down you can test?
It is Junk!!!....time to let it burn ❤️🔥!!!!...thanks for the radio videos....show more E O L videos.....also show reviews on multi band radios and Shortwave!!!
Greetings:
Ray Parker Jr. Of Ghostbusters fame; who ya' gonna' call?
Laurel and Hardy already did that with a music centre in the form of a gramophone in the engine compartment.
A blistering 6W. Must be Cheap Chinese Math™. The first guy on the John Birch record sounded like Jonathan Winters. I fully expected to hear Maude Frickert.
Probably 15 watts on the primary side of the A.C. power supply.
No subwoofer? Dang!
LoL that's why record players never made it in cars. No company ever came up with sufficient shock dampening. Amazing it's playing as well as it is.
Does the GE have 110V motor?
i think the appeal is supposed to be that you can set it up almost anywhere, like when you're camping or going to a friends place. i was actually considering buying one until i did some research and found out about the terrible technical desighn and build quality, crosleys are a fucking shit on a decent idea.
Love these videos :)
You need to run that through a 1000 watt Alpine power amp with two 18 inch subs. Imagine the rumble you'd get out of that.
The JBS record is best used as a torture device (as the listener is waterboarded).
Have to increase tracking force a couple of grams for those bumps and sharp turns!
It looks like the former owner removed the auto stop mechanism from the CR49, It uses the click to right start, cam triggered stop
15 watts is what the mains adapter will use
Mine came out of the box new with a bad turntable motor.

If you want to keep your vinyl records from having skips and/or cracks and/or pops, one of the things you should never do is have a portable record player, almost all of them are crap, and also never play vinyl with a portable record player in a moving vehicle. and put a vinyl back in the case when your done using it and also make sure you clean the dust away when you see allot of dust on a vinyl. You have to be extremely careful when you take off a paper sleeve for a vinyl, you should take it off very gently or else it may scratch the vinyl.
Dont put link in comments, I can say it till im blue in the face and no one listens. You spend all this time and the thing goes right into the spam folder and I have to approve it.

audio-technica AT-LP60 is less than $100 and it's good.
+bobskie321 I have an ilive all-in-one turntable that was originally $120+ will this damage my records?
I say originally cause the store I bought it at had a sale on all of their items and so it was 80$

Damage is more likely done by worn or damage stylus than heavy pickup because vinyl is not that fragile. Check +vwestlife video "Will a cheap record player DESTROY your vinyl?". I can't put a link or Google spam filter catches me.
15w is likely to be the AC adapters consumption
What made you think it was intended to be played in a moving vehicle?!
Likely 15 watts AC consumption but it was more important for you to know that its made in China more than anything else.. No need to tell you much of anything else
You should have put that record player in the parking lot and flattened it with a steam roller while in the middle of playing "Disco Duck"
i have a 1949 RCA 45ey1 tube unit and it sound why better then this and yes i have a 1960 fleetwood suite case type tubes and treble and bass all auto BSR UA8 that machine is a want to be those china junk will never come up to the old equipment just drop it and see it it survives the fall
High End Quality.
Not sure if I did the math right, but W=A*V so at 0.5a* 12vdc would be 24W.
I know you were dying to know for 4 years but here ya go! Where's my prize 😂😂😂
Funny I knew exactly what he was thinking when I clicked on the video
I had a Crosley stereo, and the lid for its record player came apart. I used wood glue to repair it, and the lid and whole unit were okay after that.
The Thing That Old Tube Stuff
Have Fun Finding Parts For It.
To Me It's Not Worth Repairing.
I have imported 3 of these models into Australia to see what they are like, my first one is a 2002 tweed colour, from what I find it isn't bad for the sound the 5x3 speakers give, 45s and 78s play adequately loud with the volume reaching it's max with knob 3/4 open
i barely could not stop laughing.
what a waste of oil on those plastic parts... at least the handle is functional to throw it as far as possible.
I want three of them like NOW!
the John Birch society is today's tea party
lol even the soundesign i have has a tonearm that doesn't wiggle. the platter leans to the sude, but it can be fixed if i took the time.
i mean how in the hell do these companies thing a wiggling tonearm is good!
