I have a version of that which has a woofer and tweeter. they actually sound really good. They used some nice Foster horn tweeters, and Alnico woofers with much larger magnets. Paired with the original Zenith radio/ record player and I have the bass all the way down and treble most of the way up. Looks fantastic in my 1970's livingroom. I also have the Zenith Allegro 1000's which I think use the same drivers and also sounds really good for what they are.
It’s kinda of surprising that Zenith skimped on the drivers in these as the amp that powered these in the Troubadour model was somewhat powerful for a tabletop unit. Zenith finally upgraded these in the final model year with the Dual Dimensions version which had an up-firing horn tweeter and down firing woofer.
Enjoy your channel and the vintage audio gear featured here. I have 2 pair of these speakers that I might try to upgrade. I clicked on the ebay link which indicates sold out. Might you know of other resources for these replacement speakers? Appreciate you, Cheers! Scott
Definitely a worthwhile upgrade. The new speaker sounds superior to the old even through an iPhone! Thanks Steve.
Had to improvise for a Whirlaway speaker. Like a mini console. Got a bunch of Zenith Circle of Sound stuff. Nice to know about the speaker!

I have that version, it's actually not bad
thanks for the info!
The replacement drivers are magnetically shielded with the smaller bucking magnets glued to the back.
Thanks for the info! 👍
@SteveScarlet I just had a flashback as we had a set of these in our house growing up. My mom worked for Zenith
I bet those would make decent surrounds
It's very likely an alcino magnet on the original drivers. Rather than the ceramic one on the ebay drivers
Alnico

Just re-listed them Scotty...
I had those at one time
Are you an antiques dealer or do people pay you to fix this stuff up?
Both...
Oh yeah?
