Obviously the husband had tired from its prominence in the living room? Thank you for saving this beauty! Hope you enjoy many happy years of joy from this beautiful piece! Your right! It looks brand new!
@@Channel-cm7yc We don’t know? It might have been a hand me down? My parents inherited a Magnavox console stereo from a deceased uncle. Unfortunately nothing worked. My parents inquired about fixing it? The repairman said there was nothing to fix. It was broken for good. The tuner was shot. The record player was also broken. The head shell was broken & the motor didn’t even turn at 33 or 45 rpm’s. It had a hard life in my uncle’s home. It was a ships anchor in my parent’s house. They used it as a table until they moved & the movers left it by the curb for special pick up. Now The Fisher is a totally separate breed of stereo. They were high quality at the time. I should know? I inherited a 500-c about forty years ago. It’s stored in a box in my attic. Unfortunately it no longer works. It is a tube set. I heard they fetch quite a bit of money now in working condition. I might sell it or give it away as I don’t know what is wrong with it?
My friend had a console with The Fisher 400 tube receiver and a Thorens TD 124 mounted. He also installed classic drivers from JBL kits to replace the original speakers. Best console I ever heard. It was like having top tier separate components in a console. It destroyed any Clairtone I ever heard.
Brings back memories...my family had a similar console stereo, I don't remember the brand but it was purchased from Sears in the late 1960's....could play a stack of 33 LPs. I do remember many hours of enjoyable listening.
That's a beautiful piece. Not the most common to have a Dual changer in a console. Most were Magnavox, Garrard, BSR, etc. Most of them I can rebuild with my eyes closed. I have seen one that had an Ampex reel to reel.

Fisher was below McIntosh and Marantz in price point. Fisher gear is excellent and post 1957, was rhe choice for those who wanted quality but had to respect a budget. Pre-1957 Fisher was priced closer to McIntosh in terms of the high end Fisher components.
I saw one exactly like it in a thrift store last month for $30. When I returned a week later, someone stole the cartridge head from the turntable. It's common Dual product available on eBay. Only thing that worried me was the speaker surround condition. Good find!
That RCA console my grandparents had was pretty amazing. I remember when they ordered it. They had a choice of wood & they picked pecan. That was a beautiful unit. Chrystal clear audio too
My grandparents had a huge console stereo like this only it was a Dumont. They bought it new in 1966. The record changer was a Garrard. Their first colour TV, which they bought in ‘68 was also a Dumont. Both were purchased wholesale as my grandpa owned a small town furniture and appliance store (in Manitoba).
I have a 1964 Fisher Ambassador with Dual 1009, inherited from an uncle. Still working. Going to have to get rid of it when I move … rather not landfill it. If interested, reply to this post.
Frank Sinatra had a component system in his Palm Springs living room, built into a custom wall cabinet. The speakers were Altec studio monitors (3 of them), and it had a studio quality Presto open reel deck that could play either 1/4 inch stereo tapes, or 1/2 inch 3 channel open reel tapes (studio masters from the late 1950's to early 1960's). I forget the electronics, but it was all top quality components for the time.
My parents had a nice console from Germany that has a Lowe-Opta receiver, Grundig Reel to Reel, and Dual 1011 turntable. Eventually, couldn't get parts for the receiver, turntable broke and all we have left of it is the Grundig.
@@brianwilson6403 Yes, it had tubes. When you hit the off lever, it used to sound like a gun shot! We got rid of the receiver (early 1980s) after repairmen basically gave up on it. We gutted the console (it was built into the 45 degree pull down drawer), and replaced it with another receiver. Cabinet was very large and beautiful solid walnut?
Ahh! look how wonderful!!! Look! In my opinion, that's what a sound system is, this Fischer is wonderful, and you know, I prefer this beautiful Cabinet to these modern devices, I much prefer the old ones, because in addition to (durability) the device still works with perfect accuracy!
❤1967❤ thank you he must have been Mr roper Three's Company 😂😂😂😂 that is gorgeous❤smh that is a thrift store "gem" never destroy it keep it moving down through the years to someone else keep it as long as you possibly can if you had one of these back in the day you had money to buy something this beautiful people craved these things to have in the house they still hold their charm to me if Frank Sinatra was the chairman of the board Nancy Wilson owned the company❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ beautiful music Frank Sinatra Nancy Wilson your stereo sounds amazingly great✌️
Reminds me of my 1960 Zenith. I’ve been struggling to figure out the issues with AM and FM not working. Unfortunately it doesn’t have the original turntable instead the prior owner added a BSR which I brought back to life. Still having issues with it though. Hope you enjoy that Fisher. The sound is incredible!
I still have my Dads Fischer FM AM reciever from 1967 it's solid state and after 10 years of heavy use didn't sound as good. Attempted to get it repaired twice but still didn't sound right and was replaced with a modest harmon kardon reciever in the late 70s. Is that Fischer worth having fixed and is it worth any thing. He had it paired with KLH model 5s and a dual turntable with a shure superscope cartridge with the turntable and reciever built into a custom cabinet by the Gramophone Shop in Cherry Creek Colorado
I have an Orthophonic High Fidelity RCA Victor that has power but hummmms when turned on… Have to get it going, maybe you have an idea what I should do?
I have a Fisher Futura III in Fruitwood. It's the only console I have that works perfectly. The tuner is amazing and I live in a rural area but it picks up so much just with the factory wire antenna.
What a beautiful device! An elegant design like nothing else, and it sounds good. A little curiosity, does it work with thermionic valves or transistors? It's just a curiosity.
Not a big fan of the old console stereos I like combos and components I found those things boomy, but the fisher was pretty good as a combo, same equipment in a cabinet is ok hard to tell on my iPad.
01:44 - so is it he a guy or a broad? I'm confused... :| But seriously, nice save! And so many of the Fisher's seem to be in a provincial style, but this one has a much sleeker look to it.

A man who’d forgotten what he had.

Thanks for preserving this iconic brand of combination stereo, record player and AM FM equipment.

Silvertone perhaps? That was Sears' house brand name.
Nicely saved for our listening pleasure. Thank goodness it wasn't scrapped.

No sound system I've ever owned matched my family's early 60's Zenith Stereo Console, witch looked a lot like this one.
Nice restoration on the console and nice Submariner.

Wow, I bet that thing rocks! Had a best friend who's family had one in the 70's. Glad you saved it buddy.
That has a beautiful color.
That RCA console my grandparents had was pretty amazing. I remember when they ordered it. They had a choice of wood & they picked pecan. That was a beautiful unit. Chrystal clear audio too
My parents had one like that but it was a bit bigger. It included a reel to reel tape section and had a space expander attachment.

Their first colour TV, which they bought in ‘68 was also a Dumont. Both were purchased wholesale as my grandpa owned a small town furniture and appliance store (in Manitoba).
Beautiful restoration. Sinatra was the perfect choice to play on this console. I own a 1964 Magnavox Astro-Sonic console that needs some attention.

Breathtaking I love it all!
What a beauty! Boy do i wish you could go over my 1960 Hoffman!
I have several that need to be gone over but nobody does it around me.
that dual is great turntable great system
Those DUALS were nice.
My parents bought a Fisher Statesman in 1969 almost identical to yours. Our Fisher had a cassette player built in to the right of the turntable

I have my mom’s 1964 Philco that is still working. Of course it probably needs some work. But, it’s really a cool mid century modern console.
Ok this is pure pleasure, love this gem of a piece 🎶👌🏼♥️
I literally stumbled across your channel and glad I did. I love these old console systems. This one is beautiful! New sub
I’m so glad you rescued her/ him….😂
Sounds good !

What a beauty, but I bet you had to pay a coin for one back in the day, I can't imagine how much one in this pristine condition would cost now?!! ❤
Thanks for saving it man
that is a beauty.
Every generation says "those were the days", the older I get the more I understand!
Hey again: magic performed!
Thank you all for the enthusiastic comments.....😊
I have an Orthophonic High Fidelity RCA Victor that has power but hummmms when turned on… Have to get it going, maybe you have an idea what I should do?
Exelent sound ❤❤
Stereo sound and enjoyment was much better in the console days not so much looking tor for the absolute sound
Did you have to replace any of the speakers? Most of the speakers i have seen from that era were paper cones in the woofers and mid range.
Beauty ❤❤
Nice stereo! I like Fishers. Have you ever serviced a President?

Solid state....
I used a pencil eraser to replace the pads to hold the record on the spindle
How much would something like this cost if you wanted to buy it?
You can contact me through my website.....👍
I think there is one of these in my garage.
There is, or was, a video on RUclips which shows the audio equipment Frank Sinatra had at Palm Springs.
In 1972 my parents had something like that, it had a television. Does yours?
I heard of people cutting up a belt from a cassette tape deck and gluing it in to the auto spindle.
I read that Frank had a Fisher too
Do you have the video of the restore?
Sorry no....
❤
1967? Surprised it doesn't have a liqueur cabinet & ash tray
👍👍👍👍👍
Nice unit. I can't decide if your trying to sound English or American, 🤔👍🏼
Not a big fan of the old console stereos I like combos and components I found those things boomy, but the fisher was pretty good as a combo, same equipment in a cabinet is ok hard to tell on my iPad.
Probably only 2 giant woofers for speakers.

Too bad you did not takeoff the back and let us see the speakers and amp.
Whoever said Fisher didn't make Solid State well was very far off
Is he a guy or a broad?
Ambiguous....🙂
WOOOOWWW VERY NICE !!!
DUAL TURNTABLE !!
