@O.Z. Cover Live, he's no better than an intermediate player. In the studio, he's a great guitar player. Just like George Lynch. Studio musicians due to studio editing and "studio magic". Seen Aerosmith live twice and both times they were the worst live band I've ever heard or seen. I like the studio work.
My favourite version of this solo. So mutch tention and the uncomfortable tones and sounds in between make the guitar scream truely in pain. I would love to be able to play like that.

I read Joe's book, he started out with the blues when he was playing in bars with his first real band, The Jam Band with Tom Hamilton and David "Pudge" Scott. After the arrival of bands like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, Joe was inspired to go heavier with a bluesy edge still being there. He's not no Eddie Van Halen or Buckethead, he just plays to sound good, not to know every technique in the book. I still think he's a great player and not "average". I'm sure your average player wouldn't do so good playing Joe's guitar solo to Aerosmith's "Amazing".

Joe and Brad were the best 1,2 guitar combo there was imo. Even tho he was considered “rhythm” Brad was as good as many leads. His riffs combined with Joe’s all over the place but still valid solos along with Steve’s made for Rock N Roll voice make Aerosmith my personal GOAT band
There was only one mistake when he transitioned his guitar behind his back to normal...that bend after the main solo was kinda slow and out of pitch...but he was showing off, so it was acceptable...otherwise, it was perfect, so if you doomed the entire solo, I'm sorry for your bad ears and taste.
Hate to tell everyone but joe perry recorded most of the songs and albums on the studio with a fender strat and jot a lespaul like he uses live but he is using a strat in this song live

Is it called the Steven tyler project? no. and for a good reason. everybody in the band plays a significant role. and we see that in 1982's RIAHP. the music wasn't the same, it was good but didn't have that Aerosmith fire. without Tom we wouldn't have a sick bassist, without Joey we wouldn't have those amazing beats he puts to every song. without Brad we would have no rhythm or sick lead parts. and without Joe we wouldn't have this amazing solo. Steven is the frontman i get it. but it isn't just him on stage. everyone plays a HUGE role in Aerosmith.

Tampoco todos los solos improvisados de una cancion en distintos live, tendra la misma estructura, por algo se llama improvisado, porque haces lo que mejor se te ocurra y nazca en ese momento. No tooodos los solos siempre sonaran emocionantes o los mas creativos incluso cuando una banda toca una balada en vivo. Ni los guitarristas con mas feeling como lo son Gary Moore, o Andy Timmons, etc, son del todo perfectos, a veces ciertos solos no van por lo melodico, simplemente van por algun otro motivo. Te lo digo como guitarrista con mucha experiencia. Pero algo que si es cierto, es que todo es cuestion de gustos.
