20-year-old me had the pleasure of meeting him after a show back in 1998. My girlfriend and I were the only people waiting around outside by the time the band left the building, and Joe and Brad Whitford took a couple of minutes to chat with us. He was the same guy from this interview - laid back, humble, and thoughtful with his words. Class act.
Read his autobiography and really loved it. He was completely honest, no just about the band but about himself. Not many do that, especially in that business. Really respect him, and on a personal note, his description of when he first met Billie really melted my heart.
Very Cool Interview. Each Member of Aerosmith Has Their Own Story Of Their Point Of View. Joe Perry Is His Own Person and His Music and He Had His Projects. And I Think Each Member Had Something Special. But Joe Perry Your Guitar Riffs and Example Has Touched Many.
This interview started off slow... then it evolved into things I had never heard before... I learned so much about Aerosmith.... such an in-depth and engaging interview for the last 50% of it.. fascinating... I happen to be one of the hugest Aerosmith fans in the world... LOL not by volume but by heart
I saw them in Central Park in 1974. PLayed three tunes until they were booed off stage! They stunk, but Tyler was already a star. And today he is the best front man of all time. Perry is just plain cool.
Both good guys. Imagine being in a hugely successful band or any band for that matter. From experience it's a fucking tough thing to maintain which is why 99% never truly make it. It's nuts. Egos swollen to oblivion and in band squabbling and disagreements. The nature of the beast.
Joe Perry is soooooo F cool. love he still hangs in Boston; great city. u know a Perry riff immediately. Like the Beatles for him, I was inspired by Aerosmith. I'm.still a crappy guitarist, but I have good taste!
I love the fact that he still has our accent unlike some of the people who get famous they decide they don't want to talk like us back home with our wonderful Boston accent. If Joe wasn't some famous guy he'd be some cool guy he just happened to meet somewhere in Boston
mr.cool is definetly a fitting name.yeah, much respect from new England. a hard rock master for sure.him and his co-hort mr.brad whitford! I love these guys and listen to them intently to learn their guitar parts :)
I really love this interview. I wish someone would ask him and his wife the secret to staying married 30 years. I'd love to hear their perspective on that.
yesiownfrodo I know your post is a year old, being married for 30 years for my wife and I was fairly easy. We have had some disagreements and many more happy moments than bad moments, we worked together to build us and our home for our two children. Learning to compromise took a little time and even today we know that in time it all balances out and being open to let your partner try things like taking a job at Walmart to take a break from nursing. The bond is the major part of a marriage and working to strengthen the bond needs constant attention! Being faithful to each other is absolute to keep the trust and never let anything destroy the trust, no temptation is worth the cost of losing the trust.
THAT TO ME IS PURE LOVE MANIFESTED IN SOUND, THE SOUND OF AEROSMITH ❤️ AND THE RUSHES GOING THROUGH YOU, THEY REACH YOUR SOUL TIME AND TIME AGAIN IN THE WAY ONLY THOSE 5 CAN. GETTING OVER YOUR EGO, AND FOLLOWING THE PASSION OF YOUR SOUL, MAY NOT BE THE SHORTEST WAY, BUT IT'S THE REASON, WHY WE GET TO LIVE THIS LIFE ❤️❤️❤️😊
She was trying to push the drug stories and he doesn't want to go there so much. And Dream On as re-release became a hit 2 years later after Walk This Way/Sweet Emotion in '75 went big.
Know the feeling - it has taken me my whole life basically before anyone decided to get my autism diagnosis. Tbh, I didn't hate school but it was a REALLY BAD experience for me
Hey Joe, You and Thomas will Never Ride Steven Tyler's Colt Tail, he needs to be grateful for having Aerosmith Band Period, He would'nt make it any other way, LOVE YOU AREOSMITH
Joe and I have a lot in common. Be both are guitarists [www.bandmix.com/thomas-de-lello/] (he's better...!) and we both deal with ADHD, both half Italian. I am from Yonkers and I knew Steven Tallerico from 1964 on to Woodstock. I owe Joe an apology...! I was up at the Tallerico house behind the aqueduct in Yonkers with Steven one day down there in the basement where Victor had his grand piano and I did a bad thing. I picked up Joe's guitar, it was a Gibson SG red mahogany with chrome humbucking pickups and Steven got pissed and threw me out of the house...! I shouldn't have done that...! Sorry, Joe, I won't do that again. This was around 1967-8. Before they were Aerosmith Steven, Joe and Tom played sometimes in my area and I saw them at The Parkway Casino in Tuckahoe, The Westchester County Center in White Plains and at the local synagogue on Tuckahoe Rd just west of Roosevelt High School. Don Solomon, a Yonkers local on keyboards. I remember the day in Yonkers when the news broke, probably through the telephone lines that Joe and Steven agreed to work together up in NH. It broke like a news flash throughout the Roosevelt Highschool crowd... it was quite a buzz... I would like for Joe to know that. I saw Joe again at the Joe Robbie Stadium in Miami with his "Jam Band" before a Patriots football game. I held the microphone for a Miami Herald reporter friend of mine for a very brief interview there before he took the stage sometime around 2008 +/-. He took out a guitar for his first number that looked like it might have been the same one that I shouldn't have picked up at Steven's house, just a little faded in color.
Know the feeling - I don't have ADHD but have autism (Never got diagnosed til March this year but we had to fight for my diagnosis and FINALLY got it after 20+ years) 😢
@@rebeccalittlexo I have an ADHD diagnosis too. There's no science behind that. It's just a check list of criteria on a pad of paper. Nevertheless, I could never pay attention in school and had to live my life in the slow lane, so it's still real to me. High Functioning Autism diagnosis likewise is just a check list of answers to a bunch of questions, nevertheless real to the people who deal with it. I know. Good Luck.
Might have something to do with the millions of dollars worth of cocaine he blew through. Him and Tyler. Tyler said it was several million dollars that they spent on coke during their drug daze.
Tyler is obviously an arsole but unfortunately he is the face and pretty much sound of Aerosmith (ie the songs dont work with someone else doing them)so Joe has put up or push off!
Joe Perry's best music was written/played by someone else and he took credit for it. He's not a very good player, never has been... he just LOOKED GOOD on stage. Tyler was definitely the talent in that band because he was the smart one who said "let's use outside talent, since you guys basically have none" and they were HUGE thanks to him.

Living/breathing legend. Changed the world and doesn't even realize how much..... Nothing but respect for Mr. Perry.
What a class act, smart, humble and down to earth, knows his stuff, love this guy!!
Read his autobiography and really loved it. He was completely honest, no just about the band but about himself. Not many do that, especially in that business. Really respect him, and on a personal note, his description of when he first met Billie really melted my heart.
Such a down to earth guy considering the band he plays in and the level of fame he
has reached.
Great interview!
He's so open and honest.
He's special.

So, Joe Perry has great taste. Great dresser from his hair to shoes to rings and clothes, he's got it!!! Smart and classy!!!😃
Hello super fan !! Thanks for the love and support, Where are you watching from ?
I grew up with airosmith in the 70-80. This music is in your blood. Music drives almost every aspect of your life.
You would think that you would know that the name is "AEROSMITH".

Joe we love you back here on the south shore. You live 2.5 miles from me. I just love driving by your house and smiling knowing that os your place.
Ii've said many times, but I'll repeat it once again: Joe Perry is the coolest and toughest american of all time; he's like the Snake Plissken of R&R
What about Ted Nugent? Watch an interview with him
Joe, Rocks from day one.
Wow,he still Rock's !And pretty!@@
I love you Joe.. thanks for the great music!!!!!!!
Joe Perry is very good play in guitar! This man is verry good songers!
Great guy ... thoughtful and candid with a lot to say; I love that about Joe Perry. Terrific interview ... and he is still incredibly sexy.
Angel Deville Sexy 😳 He’s deadly serious
Such a pleasant change from S Tyler. What they say about lead singers seems true.

Aerosmith, Jeff Beck, Rick Derringer, (and Starz - ugh...) here in Seattle at the Kingdome (1977) was my first big rock concert.

Aerosmith, one of the best rock n roll bands ever and Joe Perry is as cool as Keith Richards
1:32 he means our "Cavaquinho", spelled "Kah-vah-khiño" :) (I'm portuguese).
Boston is a beautiful city ❤
Incredibly talented, what a great player, unique sound. Walk This Way, Sweet Emotion. Blows my mind how great they were in the early to mid 70’s
Love you Joe,keep Rocking bro 🎸
great interview, thank you! love him and aerosmith

Dream on wasn't a big hit in 73. It became a big hit when they rereleased it in 75 or 76.
Combination

Such big rockstar and so humble, best ever.

Spent many summers in the Lake Sunapee area..I know Steven Tyler's sister had some summer cottages in the area
Joe is the coolest man walking Earth today

awesome i seen this before
Nice
We ALL have OUR problems and issues....
If you feel...guys.Joe Perry.
How is this guy so thin? Very talented. But, I'm amazed how thin he remains.
¿Alguien que lo traduzca? :'(
Wonder whether Joe had a mild stroke or Bells Palsey the way the right side of his face sags.
Might have something to do with the millions of dollars worth of cocaine he blew through. Him and Tyler. Tyler said it was several million dollars that they spent on coke during their drug daze.
His "uh's" are the exponent of our overindulgence
He's trying so hard not to look at those gorgeous legs.
K9 operation boo and iggy
1970's Aerosmith was great. Their latter day overly commercial stuff made my ears vomit.
Joe Perry much better than Keith Richards. Thete I said it. It's true
Tyler is obviously an arsole but unfortunately he is the face and pretty much sound of Aerosmith (ie the songs dont work with someone else doing them)so Joe has put up or push off!
Joe should've just told that Lady doing the interview...It's simple when it comes to their differences - Steve & Joe are like Mick & Keef.
Let the music do the talking

you're so full of sht I saw Joe earlier this year he's an amazing guitarist, more than he credits himself for. His playing ages like fine italian wine
Joe Perry is great but he's not the most interesting interview.
