Alice is a hell of a story teller, man. You could be the polar opposite of everything he believes in...but listening to his stories would make you worship him. And I may be wrong, but he seems like a hell of a friendly guy.
These guys are my idols! Joe is the reason I even picked up a guitar after I heard walk this way when I was like 8. Alice Cooper I love his showmanship. My last idol is Nikki Sixx love his song writing. What Alice and Joe talk about scares me for the road I'm ahead for. I'm friends with a drummer and they got sign he told me it's extremely hard now days.
I remember driving from Houston to Dallas with a bottle of SoCo between my legs. It was 4th of July weekend and I was headed to the Cotton Bowl to see the Stones play. Partied in the parking lot until the let us in. I think I’m old now but my brain won’t admit it.
Do we want the next led zeppelin? They are Zeppelin for a reason. There isn't the minor leagues anymore. Clubs don't book original bands, because the Sublime cover band will bring in a bigger crowd. There aren't any risk takers. In A & R that is. Why suffer? These band guys can make more money being garbage men than being on the road. Sucks. Americans want shit for free. And to not be challenged.
Yes, my sentiments exactly. Considering Joe has been sober for decades, I believe, I was trying to figure out what to attribute the apparent lack of focus and clarity to - latent damage?
If you search the net ,it is unreal how good very young people are ,and at ease about ,playing and singing , I personally have played since 12 ,and I never have been and never will be half as good as they are , so I cant watch and listen to them , jealously you know ,but that's my problem lol don't you want to be the best
The really smart musicians saw this era coming a mile away. Bob Welch , R.I.P., said on his website back in the late 90's "kids, don't go into the music business" because he knew what downloading and streaming was gonna do
Keith Richards begat Joe Perry, Joe Perry begat Slash, Who will carry the torch after Slash, or is rock and roll as we have known it since Tiny Bradshaw first introduced "Train Kept A Rollin" in 1951--already dead?
There's an amazing guy outta Toronto called "Badlook", I was fortunate to hear a part his upcoming album, he's on Spotify and such, but his music style changes or progresses quickly, from sorta Hip Hop with cool beats and progressive rock, like early Gabriel, to a few years later it's a new R&R based Hip Hop with great vocals, guys a guitarist pianist etc, uses real drums. Don't mean to drag on but like Alice talking about the Stripes, this Badlook is Rock and Roll coming back, but using fusion to do it, exciting to see. Cheers
The greatest band to never catch on other than a small but rabid fan base - Pleasure Club. Here Comes the Trick and Fugitive Kind. If you’re watching this, guarantee you love it.
When the iconic (formerly millions selling artists) can't sell records anymore, is there any point for young musicians to go for it? I realize it's not all about money, but if you already know you can't make a living doing it, it's a real shame. There must be many Alice Coopers and Joe Perrys out there who are even bothering to be musicians because what's the point?
This interview has to be crushing for young Rockers who listened to it 🤦 Alice is saying basically DON'T EXPECT TO MAKE A LIVING AS A ROCK MUSICIAN .. and that is completely ridiculous because Rock it's the best style of music, especially for young people. The fact that the remaining labels are looking for terrible fucking pop artists ONLY!!! imagine if the powers that be ,in the 70's , were only looking for the next Captain N Tenille ?!! That's how I see new music in the 2020's .. lots of bad pop music , with no hope of getting the next big Rock band 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦😭😭😭😭😭😫😫😫😫😫
The music business is now full of manufactured talent, a television show comes on and it's rigged to have a package. The days of Alice Cooper or Aerosmith or Queen or Kiss are long gone.
Metallica did not know "Train Kept A Rollin'"??? There is no excuse for that. The guys in Guns N' Roses are younger than them, and they performed it back in the day.
@@themadmattster9647 True, but the guys in Metallica grew up listening to that type of music before getting into the heavier stuff. Kirk Hammett, particularly is a huge fan of Peter Green, so I thought that he would also be into the Yardbirds.
But Alice, here's the deal. It's really simple. You just have to be better than the other 5000 bands who want to make it, as a for instance, it took my daughter just three years to get signed in England and the U.S.
Sad the state of music these days. To get signed with any significance you do music by the numbers and wear cloths made of meat or something and then maaaayyybeee you might get a break if seen by the right people.
Schools Out and Billion Dollar Babies are two brilliant songs, both musically and lyrically. Both songs put to shame most garbage that bands are doing these days.
Cooper talks about the Strypes, yeah early on they sounded like they were plucked from the mid 60's, but gon on 5+ years and they churn out commercial poppy shite that sounds like any other band, something happened that made them lose their amazing identity, shame really cos now they are nothing special , maybe took the wrong advice or ran out of inspirational material to draw from.
not a fan of Perry, Aerosmith don't do it for me, too gimmicky with their style and him and that one with the big mouth (forget his name due to my brain blocking him out), I mean the way he ruins vocals is criminal.
We need more of this. My rock idols talking normal shit. I love this stuff.
‘Been a fan of Alice Cooper since the 70’s!
Coop is so sharp, man.
Perry is the opposite
Alice is a hell of a story teller, man. You could be the polar opposite of everything he believes in...but listening to his stories would make you worship him. And I may be wrong, but he seems like a hell of a friendly guy.
7:03...the record companies aren't, but the public is.

wow epic moment to sit on couch with rock legends talking about their fab day to day lives and musings. freaking fabulous
@ 7:30 :Vinnie says:"No one is looking for the next Led Zeppelin......", So sad but true .
We have Greta Van Fleet.

The Doors were/are awesome. Love Jim Morrison, always will. His lyrics and poetry were great and what a fine specimen to look at, he was beautiful. ❤️
Great guys and awesome interview, just let them tell and see where it goes. Appreciate
Thank you Alice. Just listened to Snapshot by the Strypes. They really are amazing.
Great interview
I love Joe Perry
Alice is so alert and clear of mind. Perry not so much
Yes, my sentiments exactly. Considering Joe has been sober for decades, I believe, I was trying to figure out what to attribute the apparent lack of focus and clarity to - latent damage?
Next thing i did after watching this was to go and check the stripes! Good pblicity!
You mean Shitallica
Alice Cooper Million Dollar Baby I love all those songs still do☺☺
Billion
Alice Cooper, you should listen to Rival Sons! You'll love it!!!

Two of the coolest rockstars ever Joe Perry and Alice Cooper, both are lucky to be alive with their very deep drug and alcohol dependencies.
Alice Cooper never did drugs.
Daniel Pennell You're joking right? Alice Cooper talked about his epic cocaine addiction, he was not only snorting it, he was smoking it.
OK, so Alice is lying about smoking cocaine, so much of it, it put him in a mental hospital?? Get the fuck out.
My bad.
Geo B no Alice went to the Looney Bin to kick his drinking habit his was admitted by his wife and manager.
I don't think Jim Morrison was joining a lot of clubs in 1972
Or Jimi Hendrix.
Keith Richards begat Joe Perry, Joe Perry begat Slash, Who will carry the torch after Slash, or is rock and roll as we have known it since Tiny Bradshaw first introduced "Train Kept A Rollin" in 1951--already dead?
great interview
Alice knows his shit. No wonder he hit massive. Attaboy Vince!
If you came here to watch the bit about the strypes, go to 4:00.
We need RNR back

Who else thought someone opening a door in the background while recording was actually kinda cool? With Joe there and all...
Them has millions of dollar and cant close them in on hospitaos for caring before dies???? What have happent during the ecotripp or?
Hanging with Morrison takes on a new meaning...lol
THE STRYPES

Joe, shut up, let Alice carry the interview. He can speak.
Agreed...

They aren't looking for the next Miley Cyrus. They're cloning the next Miley Cyrus in a laboratory.

Alice call me ......
Metallica did not know "Train Kept A Rollin'"??? There is no excuse for that. The guys in Guns N' Roses are younger than them, and they performed it back in the day.
Different sub genres of music.. I doubt Joe Perry wouldn’t know how to do a diminished sweep arpeggio but that doesn’t make him not a legend
@@themadmattster9647 True, but the guys in Metallica grew up listening to that type of music before getting into the heavier stuff. Kirk Hammett, particularly is a huge fan of Peter Green, so I thought that he would also be into the Yardbirds.
Joe is sloshed......but I love it.
Rock is truly dead. At least the "scene" is. Fifty year run, until digital killed the Radio Star dead.
record labels are redundant y'all
But Alice, here's the deal. It's really simple. You just have to be better than the other 5000 bands who want to make it, as a for instance, it took my daughter just three years to get signed in England and the U.S.

Joe is fucking fried.
spit it out, joe.
alice prolly likes greta van fleet I'm guessing.
