Aloha, from another planet, it would seem, the Christmas Carole Scrouge 1951 with Alistair Sim...well, it has nothing to do with today's movies at all, but it is in the real spirit of Christmas. The Rock is suffering the same situation that happened with Arnold and Sylvester. They become these big action stars and become super famous for a period of time. And then their time runs out and slowly fade. Arnold and Sylvester had a franchise that would let them stay relevant (Terminator and Rocky), but they never got the top billing in any other thing anymore. That’s what gonna happen to Dwayne.
My 9yr old step son loves all Christmas movies no matter how terribly cheesy they are. I’m sure he’s going to love this one too. Hope my wife gets me some super strong bud to sit through this one.
I watched this movie without having any prior expectations and was pleasantly surprised. It's no Interstellar of course, but it was a fun watch and had me crack up a few times.
Scenario: You're Jeff Bezos and you just earned $250 million, what do you do with that money? A) Use that money for decent working conditions for your Amazon employees. B) Finance a Christmas-themed action movie starring The Rock.
It's not a question of Jeff having a tight budget and deciding between two choices.Jeff has trucks full of billions and he doesn't want to give any of it to the employees since they agree to work cheap.
Read somewhere The Rock went to the IMAX theater where Oppenheimer premiered and said “Red One would look amazing in this!” I hope the people who went to that screening got their money’s worth.
Finally a movie is brave enough to answer the question: "Prompt: Generate a script for a Christmas action movie that combines two randomly selected Lucas Films titles". But the forgot the part where when the AI accidentally chooses the literal titles of Red Tails and Rogue One, you have to buy another $5 worth of tokens and make it start over from scratch.

Christmas movies are great, but Christmas specials are my jam. Merry Christmas Charlie Brown, Rudolph, Frosty, and my favorite, the Garfield Christmas Special.
I think this again reiterates my rule that The Rock is a hallmark of bad movies. Not because he's bad, but because if the script was any good they wouldn't need to spend all that money on him.
Enjoyed Red One. Reminds me of Christmas Chronicles or The Santa Clause. Probably won't be watched much outside of the Holidays but I could see it becoming a Xmas staple.
That's the thing modern audiences don't care for original stories with original ideas because they're used to what they know. Like the Disney live action remakes and the amount of sequels from Pixar actual good movies that stand out will fail at the box office.
The Santa Clause and Home Alone 1 and 2 are my favorite Christmas movies. I was hoping this would kinda be that spirit but I’m glad I waited for reviews.
Red One is not worthy in IMAX, should have been sent to streaming, I guess Amazon spent lots of this so they decided stick it on theatres to get a huge payout then bring it on digital during the holidays

Over Die Hard, Home Alone 1 and 2, Trading Places and Friday After Next?! SHYEEEEEEEEEEEEEET
@@ddegn Absolutely. I had to hunt online for the directors cut because the theatrical cut removed one of my favorite songs “When Love Is Gone”. It was removed because the empty suits that control Disney thought the song was too sad for kids. smh. Its one of the best songs in the movie and is the one moment that truly gives emotional weight to Scrooge's backstory.
Aloha, from another planet, it would seem, the Christmas Carole Scrouge 1951 with Alistair Sim...well, it has nothing to do with today's movies at all, but it is in the real spirit of Christmas. Redemption, Joy, and not concerned about its muscles and action sequences...anyway, thank you for warning about Red One...talk about divorcing from St. Nicholas not a person but a thing...a Red Thing.
@@TheMasterofDisaster48 I own every last one of those movies and I would take Muppet Christmas Carol over them in a heartbeat.
I saw this movie tonight and felt it was entertaining with a nice message about finding the good in people - I do agree with Jeremy that it could have been 90 minutes instead of two hours, though.
Thx for sitting through this so we don't have to! Jeremy, tell your loved one to give you an extra big hug from all of us for the money and time you save us so often. :) Sincerely thank you for the reviews & for being more entertaining than most movies made today by Hollywood. I look forward to rewatching Elf, Christmas Vacation, 4 Christmases, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, Daddy's Home 2 (and 1), The Polar Express & Die Hard this holiday season.
Akira Kurosawa's Ran - an epic riff on King Lear that required 200 horses, 1,400 suits of armor, building a full-size *castle* on the slopes of Mt. Fuji & burning it down, and spraying an entire field gold for a scene that got cut - cost almost $200 million less than RED ONE
It cost 238 million less
This movie IS overly expensive but that's not really a fair comparison.
Ran was a Japanese production in the 1980s.
@@ThePrinceofHisOwnKingdomyour point is incredibly valid. Basically, in very rough estimates that's about $190 million in today's money according to inflation calculator online.
Bro needs to learn "inflation"
I didn't expect a Live Free or Die Hard reference in this review, but I like it...
This film is off to a Rock-y start.
...I'll show myself out.
cringe
@@armroj51I’d rather be cringe than boring, boring face
You can stick around a bit longer.
Lol
Stay because that was a great pun
Honestly, I really liked it, but I do get what you're saying. For me, it'll go in my library for when I want to scratch the "violent night" itch, but I'm in company that can't handle the "hard R" violence.
I really like it also, and I can see myself watching again.
I still maintain “The Ref” is the most underrated and amazing Christmas movie there is.
Arcane was 250 mil for 2 seasons of greatness. That's how you spend that kind of money.
Better than the rock new movie
Yo I totally forgot about Arcane LOL thank you for reminding me, just saw season 2 came out this month! 😂
Money laundering in the same way, why does animation cost a quarter of a billion dollars? It makes no sense
How much should it cost?
arcane is dope
Budget of 250 million with opening of 34 million 😬 seems like it has a good concept and idea
It's 84 million now. My theater was actually pretty full and me and my dad had a lot of fun with Red One. I think the critics are being way too harsh on this movie because I thought it's exactly what I would imagine a Christmas movie in this generation would be like. I just think it may have come out a little too early.
@ I have yet to see it and I have high hopes that it’ll be enjoyable and something fun to watch with all the cameos
@@MrChaotic4 Probably because your tastes are shit and you're used to trash. You probably east Mcdonalds every evening too.
@@MrChaotic4 84 million worldwide which is still pretty low considering its massive budget, the movie was actually quite fun and enjoyable I agree, but ain't no way its gonna make a profit
@@hebat45 The movie was originally going straight to amazon and I belive its still being released on there next week. If it makes 100 mil, thats an extra 100 mil than it would have made without a theatrical release.
Stallone got top billing in Cop Land, with an all star cast
I can't stand the rock
I like Stallone
@@TheRealAhoy He also had Rambo
And now, Stallone is staying relevant by appreciating President-Elect Trump and his Television series Tulsa King.
What about WWE? Sure he may not be top billing but he'd still get a lot of attention
Die hard will forever be the best Christmas movie.
My 9yr old step son loves all Christmas movies no matter how terribly cheesy they are. I’m sure he’s going to love this one too. Hope my wife gets me some super strong bud to sit through this one.
My favourite Christmas movie is Jingle all the Way. Loved watching Arnold as a suburban dad trying to get a present for his son. ❤😢
60 Million for that one, fwiw
"Put that cookie down!"
IT'S TURBO TIIIIIIIIIME!!! (while Arnold spinning out of control)
I can’t stand Arnold Schwarzenegger anymore.
3:40, this movie has nothing to be talked about lol
We're gonna get an Ernest Saves Christmas review now, right? We'll call it my gift.
YES PLEASE!
"SNAKES PYSON!
@@anthonyrowland9072 😂 That's all these movie folk want!
Just went to watch it with my class, it was entertaining I didn’t expect so much hate 😭
I watched this movie without having any prior expectations and was pleasantly surprised. It's no Interstellar of course, but it was a fun watch and had me crack up a few times.
Scenario:
You're Jeff Bezos and you just earned $250 million, what do you do with that money?
A) Use that money for decent working conditions for your Amazon employees.
B) Finance a Christmas-themed action movie starring The Rock.
It's not a question of Jeff having a tight budget and deciding between two choices.Jeff has trucks full of billions and he doesn't want to give any of it to the employees since they agree to work cheap.
My favorite Christmas film is National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, by far!!! The comedy in that movie is timeless😂
Totally concur!
My 2nd favorite is a tie between Polar Express and the grinch, cause number one is the same for me
@@geekymetalhead5112hmmm which version of the grinch ? Cant beat the classic short film but Carey grinch is a good ohe
this and Muppet's Christmal Carol are my two Christmas movies.
Read somewhere The Rock went to the IMAX theater where Oppenheimer premiered and said “Red One would look amazing in this!” I hope the people who went to that screening got their money’s worth.
Sat down and watched this today, I enjoyed it, just an enjoyable, light hearted Christmas adventure.
Finally a movie is brave enough to answer the question:
"Prompt: Generate a script for a Christmas action movie that combines two randomly selected Lucas Films titles".
But the forgot the part where when the AI accidentally chooses the literal titles of Red Tails and Rogue One, you have to buy another $5 worth of tokens and make it start over from scratch.
This should have been a Hellboy movie about Hellboy bodyguarding Santa during the week leading up the Christmas.
You know, that's not a bad idea actually 👍
Yeah I’d much prefer that…
Dang, that actually sounds fun!
I would totally watch that movie in the cinema and then buy the comic book.
@@Dreadhorizon I wanna see Guillermo Del Toro design a Krampus. Then the epic practical fight between Hellboy and the Krampus.
3:11 yeah, I agree, Jeremy
I'll just stick with Ernest saves Christmas
This is the fastest ever Jeremy had ever review a movie? Been watching him since 2014 though 😅
a 3 minute review of an end of the year comedy? This is a total 50/50.
Red one followed by snowpiercer would be the perfect Chris Evans double feature
I was thinking Push followed by Snowpiercer.
Red one sucks. Snowpiercer is actually good.
@@inigomontoya4032 Both movies suck. Snowpiercer has tons of plot holes and made no sense.
@@thedestroyer2alltrolls411 troll is trolling 🤣 but you can't compare the 2... And Snowpiercer is far superior. I'm sure you can run a poll and you'll see I'm not wrong.
@@thedestroyer2alltrolls411 btw, mostly every movie has plot holes. 😜
Did anyone else feel like Chris Evans's character was written for Ryan Reynolds but he couldn't do it because of scheduling conflicts?
My favorite Christmas classic film is The Shop Around the Corner, but my favorite, instantly-gets-me-in-the-Christmas-spirit film is Arthur Christmas. So heartwarming.
You should definitely review Anora. It’s the most unexpected and memorable theatre experience I’ve had this year.
Damn fastest review ever!
In the voice of Sebastian Maniscalco
“Movie sucked. Let’s get the hell out of here.”
Don't apologize for living life brotha. Thanks for the upload
Jumanji meets The Holidays
LOL
Even Jumanji was better than this.
A $250 million movie…that should’ve been a Prime Original Film.
I have to say the practical makeup for Krampus looks cool. He looks like he could be a character from Hellboy or Elden Ring.
1:37 how much of that is The Rock's salary?
20%
Yes
I'm old --- Jimmy Steward in ""It's a Wonderful Life"" and Bing Crosby in ""White Christmas"" are what I watch every single Christmas season
I mean, nothing is ever gonna beat Elf and Ernest Saves Christmas. They're always gonna be the top 2 Christmas movies of all-time. Scrooged and A Muppets Christmas Carol would be next in line, probably.
Sorry but it seems the audience actually like it. Our theater laughed out loud, and even clapped at the end. I don't see that very often. I though it was a fun movie that all ages could enjoy. It's not high art, it's just fun.
"Jackie Chan is the ONLY action/comedy director" -Every frame a painting
Jackie is definitely the man.
@@thelaughingrouge No, fuck Jackie. That asshole sellout. Seriously, fuck him. The man is LITERALLY a CCP wannabe. Completely sold out Hong Kong, has routinely shit on his American fans, and has ultimately destroyed his legacy. Unfortunately, too many people are stuck on the nostalgia train with him, and are completely unaware of who he has really become these days.
Well, i wasn't expecting a masterpiece, but a four minute review told me everything i needed to know. Only four minutes? Oof.
“Violent Night” is my new Christmas classic. Film is just super funny and surprisingly heartfelt
Black Adam teams up with retired Human torch. Jingle all the way gotta be my favorite Christmas movie
It's funny to see how people nowadays associate Chris Evans with Johnny Storm than Steve Rogers lmao
@@Mars2099-uh6gq Because he is the antithesis to Captain America in real life.
In the past, studios invested in famous actors
But that allowed us to see original content before that got replaced by dependence in franchises
I miss the Jeremy Vlogs we got a while back. Those would be fun to see again.
Hollywood SHOULD invest in original stories
But not being under the impression that people will watch it because of the cast
I will watch this probably for J K Simons
That's the thing modern audiences don't care for original stories with original ideas because they're used to what they know. Like the Disney live action remakes and the amount of sequels from Pixar actual good movies that stand out will fail at the box office.
Rock gotta take a break from Hollywood and have one last run in WWE for like a year
Final Boss Rock is goated
If you want a good Christmas film with J.K. Simmons being Santa, watch Klaus. Beautiful animated, wonderful character stories, and really sweet film.
91% audience score on rotten tomatoes is craazzyy
The Santa Clause and Home Alone 1 and 2 are my favorite Christmas movies. I was hoping this would kinda be that spirit but I’m glad I waited for reviews.
Remember, the Rock had the audacity to compare this movie to Oppenheimer.
Red One is not worthy in IMAX, should have been sent to streaming, I guess Amazon spent lots of this so they decided stick it on theatres to get a huge payout then bring it on digital during the holidays
Like I have pointed out to other people who mentioned this. This film has an audience score of 89 on Rotten Tomatoes. Thats only 2 less than Oppenheimer. Seems like audiences agree with The Rock.
@@kishenchohan1286 It originally was going to be a streaming movie but Amazon changed it to a theatrical release as they must have belieived it had the quality to sell tickets.
I can’t remember. I tend to not pay any attention to anything he says. Basically, he doesn’t exist outside a handful of movies I own.
Oppenheimer was overrated anyway. That movie was a snooze fest.
Red One! 🎄 Thank you so much for doing this review. I enjoyed the Christmasy decorations, marvelish like action, the lore. And something about the importance of family connections and emotional connections overall got to me. Plus it’s so much fun to see Cap swear. 🤭
Didn't expect to hear something positive about Live Free or Die Hard in this review, but I appreciate it. I like that movie despite all odds. 😊
Is "Red One" the codename for Santa, or for the sleigh? I understood from the opening scenes that it was the latter.
Santa is Red One
@@MrMustBNice Hmm. I know they called him "Red" quite often. I don't remember them referring to him as "Red One" other than when he was leaving the military hangar in the sleigh. I'll have to pay closer attention when I watch again.
I saw it and it exceeded my expectations, given that every reviewer/influencer I've seen has absolutely trashed it I was expecting it to be TERRIBLE and it was not... by any means... award winning material, but I was entertained enough
Just sitting here waiting for Jeremy to talk about acts 1 and 2 of Arcane cause I need to know one thing.
DID JEREMY SUFFER AT THE END OF ACT 2 LIKE THE REST OF US DID?!
I liked this movie. That's not to say your rating of "Not gonna remember it in T-minus 1 day" is in any way inaccurate, but this movie benefitted my life for 123 minutes and, really, what more can I ask for at this point?
Muppets Christmas Carol all the way! 34 years old and still watch every Christmas Eve.
Outside of any superhero movie is Chris Evans good in any of his movies?
@@delix787 Gifted and Knives Out. Those are the only ones I could think of.
A review only 3 minutes long? At this point I already know what Jeremy is about to say
There are 1000s of fantastic scripts by unknowns just sitting on a hard drive right now. Any one of those scripts would produce a breakout star.
Instead we get this movie.
Die Hard is hands down the best Christmas movie, followed closely by Jingle All the Way. Finally, A Christmas Story.
Is violent night a Christmas classic now?
Violent Night was $20mil.
Should have been a Hellboy crossover lol.
Hollywood is a money laundry machine for banks and funds. I have seen businesses make renovations that cost five times more than normal and three times more often. If small to medium-sized companies do that, Hollywood does that also 1000 times more.
It would make more sense if it's embezzlement. That way they can pocket more of the money. Why would they take clean money and move it to another location to look clean?
Just dripping in to leave a like for that awesome hair.
As far as newer Christmas movies go “The Night before” always gives me a good laugh but obviously “It’s a wonderful Life” is the GOAT.
