  • Wading challenge, a Defender should be good at wading through deep water but will the EV one be able to go through the deep stuff as easily as the Diesel Defender? Or will its electrical bits get all upset? Driving through a section of deep water should give the answer.

    Best fun I had in my Defender was getting water in through the windscreen vents. Add long as it's air is sealed the TDI I had would work fine under water

    My old S IIa Canvas top Landy would wade up to my chin in water and did on many occasions, Stock Petrol Landy motor with a wading kit for the ignition and of course... a Snorkel kit with a Donaldson air filter on top and along with extended diff breather tubes and a quick check at the end of the day for milky fluids she did really well every time.

    I need an Ariel Nomad that is converted to EV. With one motor per wheel and proper software to get torque vectoring and ideally tank turns and pirouettes. Still under a ton please. Better acceleration than stock petrol RWD, better grip, better rally stage times, and dead silent when crawling through hamlets on the trail.
    Which shop might be best positioned to take on the commission? Thanks!

    To be fair I've seen a Series drive under water. Only a few inches of the roof and windows above water.

    Not a real test as the electric is just a conversion job. The Jaguar I pace shows how controlled a real ev is up and down hill.

      @@michaelklump3337 I've driven thousands of miles on road trips around Europe and the United Kingdom and North Africa and the artic circle. I very positive that could not happen in an battery powered car. Also I don't drive a 96 discovery I drive a range rover. Electric cars are old tech now its all about hydrogen combustion engines as you can just fill them up like normal fuel.

    Now this is a proper Defender, unlike the new defender-discovery they put out... Long live the Wrangler it seems.. the only one staying true to its roots, history, iconic looks and hardcore off-road character. Btw, these are the same guys that roasted the Wrangler for having poor ride quality and now they are riding in an ancient but proper defender and not a word about it 🤣

    • @piemar97
      @piemar97 2 года назад

      @@herbie53opf That one's great too, it is what LR should have done with the Defender, or just like Jeep does with the Wrangler, keeping its iconic traits, while updating it with modern technological features to make it more daily-driveable. I have a 2021 Wrangler JL Rubicon 2-Door, it rides bery comfortably on the road + lots of extra tech like heated seats and steering wheel, front + rear cameras, blind spot assists, touch screen etc. But despite all this new stuff, it's still a Wrangler. Jeep have managed to hit the nail on the head really good with this one, unlike Land Rover...

    Again not a real world test, you can take diesel with you incase you run out and refuel yourself, where do you plug in an EV out in the wilderness?

    • @phillycheesetake

      When you're in the wilderness do you just cut open a diesel tree and drip that into your tank?

    • @iadunn

      If you take fold up solar panels in the wilderness then no problem. Theoretically no range limitation at all . Yeh it may take some time to charge but at least you keep motoring . Once your out of deisel thats it.
