    Terence, we recently moved into a house where the previous owner installed this exact same model. However, he (or his not-so-good contractor) installed it FLUSH to the dining room wall. That means that the heat has no place to go but inside the wall. I can only assume that this is a really bad fire hazard, don't you think? The unit isn't even secured inside the wall cutout, you can actually pull the unit out and have it hang partially away from the wall if you want to use the heater. I don't prefer to do that because it looks terrible. Instead I have taped over the heater/on button on the remote to insure that no one attempts to turn the heater on without my knowledge.

    • @TerenceDIY
      @TerenceDIY  2 года назад +1

      Yes it can be a fire hazard! This model is NOT designed to be installed recessed. Please keep the heat off. I apologize for the bad contractor work. I wish I could help. Thank you SO much for watching!

  • @juliechu5654

    Hi Terence, first, thank you so much for the video! Can I follow your instructions to install the electrical fireplace under a window? The window has standard frames around it that stick out of the wall a bit which might interfere with the heat from the heater. That also means there is nothing behind that wall. Outside that window/wall is the street. If it is ok to do so, how far apart should the heater be away from the window? If I can ask, where are you located? Thanks!

    • @TerenceDIY
      @TerenceDIY  Год назад +1

      Hi Julie, Sorry for the delayed response. You can absolutely install it underneath a window. As far as distance, there is nothing to damage it unless rain is able to come through the window. If not, I guess you will have to decide where it looks best for you. Maybe in the middle of the window and the floor? The heat will rise so no worries about that. I am located in Chicago. Any more questions don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for watching!

    • @TerenceDIY
      @TerenceDIY  Год назад

      Hi Nia, if you're using that type of wall anchor, it's design to hold the screw into to the drywall without hitting the stud. I would highly recommend the anchors I used in this video. I have hung many fireplaces using them and I have a 100 percent success rate. Thank you so much for watching.

    I was wondering how these were mounted. Ideally, it would look the best to recess it but I have to think then you’d have to cut out numerous studs then almost frame it with 4x4’s to support the studs above it. Seems like a lot to mount a fireplace.

    • @TerenceDIY
      @TerenceDIY  3 года назад +1

      Sorry for the late response. With this particular model, the only colors are blue and red. There are newer models that have an array of colors. Thanks for watching!

    How much heat does it blow out?
    Does the fireplace unit come in 30 or 40 inch options?

    • @TerenceDIY
      @TerenceDIY  3 года назад

      Hi Erik, the heater element does pretty good. It keeps that entire room warm (14x12). As far as size, the unit comes in quite a few sizes. Go to Amazon and type in 30 inch or 40-inch fireplace and you will see a host of them. Those sizes are currently on sale. Thanks for watching!

    Hello Where did you purchase that fireplace ? And is it safe to mount a 4k tv above it ?

    • @TerenceDIY
      @TerenceDIY  4 года назад +1

      Hi Sylvia, sorry for the late response. If you mount a TV about it, I would place it at least 2ft. above it. The heat rises from the top of the fireplace. I bought the fireplace from a friend that never used it because he sold his house. Here is a link to one that is similar.

    I want to install this in my living room and master bedroom. The issue is, I have wainscoting in my living room and I want to do the same size as this one, 40-50in wide. Will I have to cut parts of the wainscoting off in order for it to be flush against the wall, or can I install it over the wainscoting?

    • @TerenceDIY
      @TerenceDIY  3 года назад +1

      Hi Stacey, install it directly over the wainscotting for a cleaner, nicer look. Thanks for watching!

    • @Blueheartmii
      @Blueheartmii 3 года назад

      Hi. Correction, it’s not wainscoting. It is Chair rail with picture frame molding underneath. Would I need to have parts of the picture frames molding cut out?

    • @TerenceDIY
      @TerenceDIY  3 года назад

      Yes, Stacey. You will need to remove a section of the frames. Sorry for the late response. My dad is in the hospital so I am behind on many things.

    I’m interested in someone installing one in my living room but I don’t want the cords exposed which I know will require drilling, i.e. more coins! Oh well!
    Looks good though! 👍🏽

      Hi Gina, you are correct about hiding the cords. However, there are alternatives. Below is a link to an example. I have used similar products in the past. Thanks for watching!
