I wasn't even hype on this anime til Zodd appeared and I backtracked to the manga. None of us are ready for this gorious masterpiece to fully get animated
Just FYI, the "flashback" wasn't a flashback at all, as the one guy said. It was a vision. The bodies on the road were a metaphor for all those Griffith killed and caused to be killed in pursuit of his dream. The bodies make the road to the castle, and he just needs to sacrifice the rest of the band of the hawk to finish paving the road. In Griffith's mind there they already said they would die for him in pursuit of his dream, so the sacrifice for his ascension is justified.
Amazing reactions this episode!!! Loved the theories right off the bat at the end of the episode too!!! To answer where Griffith stands amidst the other God Hand members, it's similar to royalty in the sense that they all have undeniable power but Griffith has been chosen by them to be their king, whether that means Griffith is directly stronger than them isn't known. Something worth noting is during that "flashback" members of the God Hand are shown directly influencing Griffiths opinion and decisions, he knew that fighting for his own kingdom would be a bloody battle but he never wanted to kill his own members, until the God Hand swayed his opinion. Can't wait until the next episode drops!!! I'm excited to see what you all got for Berserk merch!!!
Were they influencing him when his old comrades are talking to him about wanting to following him and his dream? Or when the old lady / Angel with glasses was talking to him?
@@KameHouseReactions A mix of both, of course dead people can't really talk but some members of the Band of the Hawk truly want to follow him to his dream (not knowing that they're the ones that will pave the road to his dream) and the Old Lady was shown to just be members of the God Hand disguising themselves to talk directly to Griffith in what he thinks is a vision of the past. I'd say the whole vision was influenced truths or "gaslighting" Griffith to see it in a certain perspective to where he wouldn't value his comrads as people like he did, he was genuinely sad every time a member died before the God Hand started putting him on this pedestal and telling him that if he didn't pile the bodies to pave this road then he would die on it as well. I won't say they directly influenced his decisions and *made* him say yes, but they definitely tipped the scale in him being willing to sacrifice so he could pave the road faster without needing to kill endless amounts of his comrads
@@StillIntoBeetles it's not that he doesn't see them as people just that he thinks that since they were willing to risk their lifes for his dream then surely they would be willing to become sacrifices at the eclipse. maybe you know this but they don't so I'll just say it. in the beginning of the manga which was when Guts fought the snake guy he went on to fight a count who is an apostle as well and has the crimson behelit. the count summons the Godhand including Griffith (Femto) and they say that just some pile of flesh and bones isn't gonna cut it for a sacrifice and that he must sacrifice something the holds dear to evolve from an apostle to a God Hand member. Meaning that Griffith cared for the band of the Hawks as the sacrifice wouldn't have worked otherwise. However the count doesn't say "I sacrifice" in his head so he sucumbs to his injuries from Guts and gets dragged into hell but the person he should've sacrificed stays alive showing that Griffith could've said no but didn't because his dream was more important to him this was left out of the anime due to budget reasons and it focused more on Guts, Casca and Griffiths characters in the Golden Age arc rather than epic fight scenes which there are plenty of in the manga
@@KameHouseReactions When I made my brother watch and react to Berserk, he thought of it in a concept he could understand from another anime. He said that the illusion was basically a Genjutsu 🤣 they put on Griffith to tempt him into sacrificing the band of the hawk.
its crazy that if they read the manga it will blow their minds even more so, but they should really watch the movies to see how it goes down in the end of the series
Ngl 1997 is way better than the movies. The movies are way too fast paced and lack the essential essence of the manga imo. But if they’re curious that’s their call.

@@shay5342 exactly, and imo the overuse of cgi ruins them for me too. the animation just doesnt have the dark, gritty feel that 1997 had
