@@CAINSO12 absolutely, it's almost confirmed that he was King Gaiseric in the past (and there's also a very big manga theory that says Void lived in the kingdom and who was he, idk if you heard about it, it's based on a past story told in the Conviction arc)
The most interesting mystery to me is guts birth… I don’t think it is just a coincidence that through the manga guts strength always impresses even the strongest apostles, even without the armor. Even the god hand was impressed by his resolve and strength in the eclipse. If I remember correctly the only thing we know about Guts birth is that he was found beneath his hanged mother, which is just strange how an infant with no mother to feed him survived to be such a strong man, there’s no human that compares to the physical stature of guts.
Which makes me wonder how much of a human he has in him, apostles like Zodd had been around even before the eclipse, could it be possible that Guts could be a mix of an apostle and an human ? Could he be a victim of some kind of Witch craft (since we know witches already existed) ? Guts Birth, the behelit he carries and the God Hand are in order the most interesting things to me.
When Miura wrote Casca's assault he must've thought like:"ok what's the most unjust, f*d up, depraved, vile and evil scenario I can come up with..."

Absolutely true, Guts is an amazing example of resilience and stoicism (this last concept mostly from the conviction arc on, with the amazing character development he had)
People were upset how they did the moment Griffith tongues Casca in this. In the Manga it’s clear shes crying/ in pain, and he sticks his tongue down her mouth but she in no way reciprocates.
Personally I prefer the 97 version, to make up for the lack of technology they had do things much more artistically, and the music is still unmatched. Hopefully we get a proper continuation one day.
Will be interesting to see what you think of the manga, there’s stuff in there so fcked up they couldn’t animate it. We were all really surprised they did the Wounds chapter in this edition even.
Love One Piece and Atot but the former is about being a good friend and dreams, the latter is the classic Gundam war never ends Endless Waltz story, but Berserk is just on another level with it’s relationship building, satisfying plot twists, originality and the level of fcked upness you can’t just get with normal death and fight scenes.
Wait till you get to The Lost Children arc💀

Yea in this version they did make it seem like she enjoyed it, but in the manga its obvious she didnt, this night fucking breaks her mind, a bit of a misstep on their part.

Shame they didn’t continue the series with this animation instead of the awful full cg version we got. Also, to clarify since it wasn’t mentioned in the anime, Casca was safe because the cave was enchanted to keep evil spirits away.
I think people really need to drop the thought that she enjoyed it. Rape is a very complex traumatizing experience. Often the perpetrator is someone you know. The body responds in a way that the mind doesn’t agree with. There is a very deep level of shame that goes with the small pleasure experience during such a violent assault. Also, Griffith is giving Casca what she wanted in a very hateful way. It’s intentionally inverted and, I think she is very aware that he is being hateful. He’s proving to her that she is a tool for him. There’s nothing enjoyable about this. This is Griffith betraying Casca in every way.
I don’t understand how anyone could think she enjoyed it and to me it doesn’t even look like she did. da fuq

Also, I honestly wouldn't bother watching the 2016 anime unless you want to have a few laughs. The "animation" is beyond bad.

What Griffin is effectively telling guts by looking at him is that you're a little b and I'm going to show you just how little you truly are. He's taking back the power to show guts that is he still on top.

When you know that Skullnight was an old True warrior who gets a similar story to guts choosing the fight by taking the old berserker armor who makes him totally a non human anymore but a beast who dedicated his entire life no, existence to kill the idea of evil which creates the apostles and the god hands, he was able to kill 3 of the Old god Hand member (except Void) and "helping" Guts to Choose between this life of deseastre (the one he choosed) or the "fake peace" one by Warning him all over the manga of these 2 ways with there "advantages and disadvantages" you realise he actually is the main character of this masterpiece. Btw for those who has played dragons dogma, he remind me a lot of it when you finish the main story and you realise that you are not the main character but the story repeated hitself every time : you choose between Vengeance or Fake peace but every time, this is the "destiny" (Void best sentence)
I'm gonna put this under a read more for spoilers. It's a scene that happens right after Guts fights those ghosts at the end, but yk just in case lol
Okay, so you guys mentioned Casca getting pregnant.
In the manga she and Guts conceived a child. Griffith's seed tainted the baby, transforming it into a deformed demon fetus that Casca miscarries. But it's not evil.
They adapted the scene in the PS4 game.
Berserk redux is finished, many say thats the best way to enjoy berserk animations. It includes all plot points chronologically from the shows and game cutscenes. Only thing is that its only eng dub but i got used to it when i started watching

-Evangelion: mecha, sci-fi, VERY psycological, it's just craaazy. Order to watch: 1) Neon genesis evangelion (26 episodes) 2) death and rebirth (recap movie with some aditional scenes, it's optional) 3) End of evangelion (movie, alternative ending to the anime, must watch!!) 4) the 4 Rebuild of evangelion movies, alike to the anime but it's a different story, you'll see
-Code Geass: mecha, war, geopolitical, drama, a bit of comedy, it's just amazing, i would say the protagonist is a mix between Eren and Light from Death Note, he's goated. First you have a 50 EPs anime, after that you have 4 movies with a different story, the 3 first ones are almost the same as the anime, but the last one is really different
-Monster (73 EPs): god tier psychological thriller, also has a nice phylosophical component
-if u want a manga: 20th Century Boys: my favorite animanga along with Berserk, it's thriller, mystery and some sci-fi, it's a hell of a ride
i think they indulged a little too much in caska's rape scene. even giving her a blush on the face. dont think it was really necessary to convey the trauma and intensity and teetered more on gratuitous fan service. it felt at odds with what is supposed to be the tone of that scene. the original was fine in how it handled that part specifically. outside of that though, i really loved skull knight coming in to save them. and my boy rickert who was left out of the original anime is here. he is one of my favorite characters in the manga. aside from the shock, violence, and sexuality of the manga i think it is absolutely worth to read the manga. guts's journey and encounters with all these amazing characters is truly beautiful and theres so many poignant and touching moments along with all the badass moments.
I agree that they indulged way more on this version compared to the original, and this one made me more uncomfortable. So I would say this approach was good in my opinion because that’s the feeling it was trying to push out I think. But we’re starting the manga now and we’re excited to say the least!

If you thought that Casca kind of enyoyed the assault of Griffith at some point, that is a common misconception because the studio in charge of the R-Scene was not the same that did the rest of the movie, instead it was an H studio, thats because it seems that she eyoyed it in this version, while in the manga is a lot clearer she did in fact not like what Griffith/Femto did to her.
So don't be worry people, this event was f-up but not in the way the movie made it seem. Thats it for todays explanation.

Controversial; watch the 2016 anime, as it follows from this story. Up to you, but it would be the only way to continue the story in as a group. Also the story is still good, but it fails to live up to the artwork of the manga. That being said there will one day be a remake. No harm in watching it imo. DO you though. forewarning, the manga quality is waaay better, especially in this case.
The anime takes place a year after the eclipse (like the manga) and adapts the conviction arc (the bulk of it)
