that quote by Nietzsche reminded of Rudolf Steiner and his thoughts on those he called "the Soulless Ones". steiner wrote an incredible book titled "The Philosophy of freedom" wich i highly recommend.
There's no guarantee the world you wake up in each day is the same one you went to sleep in. Not even your own memories can be trusted because misremembering things is possible. So take solace in the hope that you might one day wake back up in the original timeline where none of this stuff happened. This offshoot has gotten dark.
"this manga is so sexist towards women, it has no deep meaning and no respect for women!" hey remember when Guts got raped as a child, then was afraid of physical contact, and when being intimate with Casca, he was genuenly scared, so Casca showed true care and love towards him?
Woke crowd doesn't believe male rape victims count. They find it sexy/funny and the victims at fault, should've been stronger. Terrible people have terrible positions.
Berzerk is the embodiement of selfless abandon, the unlogical choice you make for love. Its everything that is right with manhood. And a grim depiction of what life is. And the best fucking manga ever. I discovered Berzerk in my high school days, in the 90's. Yeah, i was a real nerd before it was cool. We use to buy out anime from chs copy in the chinewe market. The real good old days. We had to go to library and demand they order mangas. It was great.

The scene of Guts getting assaulted is more or less REQUIRED in the books, because Guts would never in a million years explain to ANYBODY why he is so vehemently against physical contact... That's what makes him and Casca embracing such a huge deal... She could just tell he'd been through similar stuff she went through as a child... They were both beyond damaged people, but somehow, they found one night of happiness in such a cruel ass world... That's Guts' story... He's convinced there's no happiness in the world, finds it, and it's RIPPED FROM HIM... That's his rage... It's relatable...
Agreed. I’m a big horror guy, and I get so much shit when I say that I enjoy certain horror writers that have a gore-focused storytelling (like slashers, for example). Most “fans” of the genre are normies that read about the same amount of horror as they watch-which is usually just what they’ve heard about before, like lame Stephen King bullshit.
if you only look for horror whether its phycological or physical you will only find horror, and these wet blankets would complain into the void in hope of someone listening when they would see it.
I wish they understood that "entertainment" doesn't just mean "makes me smile and laugh". Horror is entertainment. Dramas are entertainment. There's more that a person can feel besides a straight dopamine hit.
Weird how Twitter can collectively "discover" something. It's almost as if they're a cult-like hive mind and not a group of individuals with their own beliefs, experiences, and interests.
@@midnightgreen8319 You know, I'm not a solipsist. I don't think some people are born empty of souls or consciousness. However, I do believe some people willingly surrender their souls and consciousness, becoming hollow and mindless as they defer their free will and morality to a tyrant or mob. They find everything offensive. 😄 I swear nobody spoke out when 50 shades was all over social media, because obviously they didn't have a problem with a man using a woman as a sex slave, because he's attractive and rich, whilst totally ignoring the fact he was manipulative, controlling and took advantage of a submissive woman to get what he wanted all the time. Also, he has a helicopter. Christian Grey was the bad guy in those stupid books/movies and these same people enjoyed them.

Man, I really wish I could be one of those people. To have so few problems, issues, and *struggles* that I can so easily let a group dynamic completely influence my way of seeing a thing that I have not even looked into. I envy that ignorance dude. Just the SIMPLICITY of mind. I miss a time when things seemed so simple. But that's why Berserk affected me so deeply after all. Probably the same with you
Never thought they'd finally stumble upon, and I don't say this lightly, one of the most influential Mangas in history that had a great deal to do with defining dark fantasy as a genre.
The fact that the manga has been around since the 80s and it took until now for them to get offended shows how little it actually affected their lives.
Kids at my school actually like berserk,it started with this kids who played ds3 and he a couple of friends who did too but once elden ring came out it spread like wild fire in the school, it took a hold on everybody's imagination there, alot of kids in my art class even started modeling there art style after it too.
I remember TheAlmightyLoli did a community post showing these degenerates saying Kentaro deserved to die, upon them reading Gut's SA. The sheer amount of murderous rage I felt when reading those words has rarely been felt; but upon remembering these worthless fools will be forgotten, while dear Kentaro will go on in history for millenia always calms me down.
Thankfully the internet comes down hard on people who say that kind of crap. When the Vocaloid producer Wowaka passed away, if you were a vocaloid fan and not mourning, the entire community would verbally curb stomp you.
I literally just discovered his channel today mere hours before Gundam put this video out lol Just finished watching his War of the Millenium Falcon Arc (Act 1). I'm an instant fan. What I will say to the OP here is to make sure to take the spirit of Kentaro's work to heart. Rage and anger is not the way. (lol at least I'm pretty sure that's at least an aspect of his work, I'm only a handful of volumes deep into this series. I'm actually just happy that they haven't canceled Dark Horse for printing them. I suspect they're too profitable to be canceled, but still.)
Just remember, these are the people who would use a behelit if given the chance, sacrificing friends and family (assuming they got any) to get twitter clout. They’re not worth it.
@@trynaka1421 They already had a conniption fit over Goblin Slayer...this happened around the same time as the pansy who writes Sword Art edited the scene in Alicization...which led to the whole Shield Hero controversy which THEN led to Shield Hero being one of the most popular anime of the year...which was followed by Uzaki-chan. Basically if Twitter spergs about something from Japan it's probably super worth.
Twitter: “Eww Berserk is all about gore and abusing women” Also Twitter: “OMG Game of Thrones was one of the best shows ever made!” They’re both great and deserve all the praise it gets by people who actually read/watched them, but it’s just funny to see people’s double standards.

I love Berserk and I am a woman! I love Guts. The fact that he pushes on through life even though he has suffered horribly is inspirational. Guts is amazing! Frankly, I hope they never like Berserk. They don't deserve such art.
It really makes me sad when series can't end properly, whether by cancellation or author deaths, but it warms my heart when they are kept alive by tributes, fan appreciation, and ignorant wannabe backlash.
From what i heard he left a manuscript with main story points to guys who were working with/for him and they will continue his work. Supposedly it took so long to publish continuation for berserk because Kentaro was very perfectionist with his illustrations and would redo them often if he felt dissatisfied. Take it with a grain of salt, i am only repeating what i read. But i am almost 100% sure the story will continue down the path it was going to go.
if they're gonna end berserk abruptly, they should do the same thing how Vagabond ended, tell the reader of all the things that happened and then a reason for why the author isn't going to continue writing the series (in a plot sort of way) and then giving the characters a proper send off. it sounds bad and lazy but if you've read why Inoue didn't end Vagabond, you'd understand him and actually appreciate how he ended the series.
I like the way the last chapter ends. Given the circumstances it could've felt much more abrupt and empty but it got one last little twist moment right before the end and leaves it on a what if interpretation
@@miraclefool9244 Hey, now hajime no ippo is supposedly getting continued in anime. Then if it doesn’t end it can be a joke for everybody to share in. I’m still happy though, the anime is well done.
This… makes me genuinely sad. Miura poured his literal life into the manga, as his death was caused by complications from a medical condition caused by him overworking. And to hear all these people, pick on one of the story’s darker moments to show how *monstrous* and inhumane an actual demon is… it hurts. Because that’s not what Berserk is about. Berserk is about even when you’re at your absolute lowest, you can keep going on. You can make things better. Guts is someone who against all odds struggles and thrashes against the life dealt to him, and being honest? He achieved the impossible because he never gave up, even when he didn’t even know himself why he did. And the art, and the expressions paint such a vivid story… I understand not everyone can stomach the gore or the nudity. But to discredit a man’s life work and to say he should burn in hell… how shallow and insensitive can you be?
Let's just take comfort in the knowledge that their words(which are actually literal hate speech) will just echo around in Twitter and fade into irrelevance meanwhile Miura's life's work will transcend his generation and will forever be hailed as one of the best works of art of all time.
I think we are treating these fucking """"people"""" with kids gloves. They need to be hit back with atleast half of the shit they do to others, including the doxxing.

that's always been the thing though like, i know what's in A Serbian Film and i know i don't want to watch it, but that doesn't mean it shouldn’t exist, or that i fear for my life just because someone might watch it all of this is the same energy that conservative christians had in the 90s when marilyn manson's music was the root of ALL evil and a threat to life as we know it i think a large part of it is the fact that we don't care about history anymore; not recent history but even more so older history. we generally know nothing of the world, and especially nothing of the world as it was hundreds to thousands of years ago. we've goose-stepped ourselves into the perception that reality has always been as it is right NOW, and while i'm all for 'living in the Now', that is not what that phrase means. lol thankfully the reality is, history doesn't remember anyone who doesn't remember it; these people are chaff in the wind, destined to be left behind and forgotten, unless they have a 'wake up' moment and realize they've been willfully stunting their growth as humans. either way, we walk on with or without them
I'm a woman who was sexually assaulted, and for me, Berserk provided me a lot of catharsis and helps me want to move forward and not let my trauma define me as a person. So I don't think it's disrespectful for SA victims at all, I think it's sympathetic and uplifting towards them.
Berserk is a story about a boy who experiences intense trauma, grows up, and begins to heal from and overcome his past trauma just in time to experience another even more intense trauma. He spirals down into an unhealthy lifestyle and over time meets people who help him begin to heal from that trauma as well and we get to see him start to become the hero he should've had the opportunity to grow into, had the world not been so cruel to him. People hate on berserk because they only look at out of context jpegs
People hate on berserk because they are miserable, self righteous, ignorant mouth breathers who let clickbait headlines define their beleif system rather than their actual lived experiences.
Kentaro Miura was legit just built different, not only did he draw a magnum opus on every single panel he also wrote more complex women characters than what majority of feminist agenda writers are capable of.
Fr people will see a cookie cutter Mary Sue and act like they are the most complex character to exist. Meanwhile casca’s entire character arc is more enticing and well thought out than the majority of entire novels.
@Sonic Hedgehog I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. Just because they are feminists doesn't mean we should discredit all of their work, just majority of it. Edit: Bruh he deleted his comment.

I seriously hate it when people misinterpret having dark themes in a fictional story for the writer condoning the actions depicted in them. I have never read Berserk, but something very similar happened with my favorite series, AoT. It's a real shame that people look this hard for problems in good fiction, they miss out on some of the best stories the world has to offer.

It's people who are used to having their ideological collective have complete monopolistic control over almost every piece of art and entertainment, being confronted by a piece of art, one of excellent quality btw, being completely free of those reigns, and as such, spitting in such an "ideologies'" face. They dont get to have their way with anime and manga.
I recommended Berserk to my friend, and once he got into "that night" scene, he can't go on reading further however he doesn't kick a fuzz and just say "this is not for me" and read other manga. That's how it's supposed to be, no need to protest and try to change something to your liking.... something Twitter never seems to understand
That's the problem. Seemingly every Twitter user is the type who thinks the sun revolves around the Earth. They think everything is made for them and them alone, and if they don't like it, they will scream at someone until they are blue in the face. They will complain until some corporation steps in to act like their mothers and shield them from the harsh reality they just saw, until they ruin everything for the rest of us. Just wish there were some corporations that would take the place of their father instead and tell them to grow up. Art imitates reality. The art in Berserk, while some of it highly imaginative and fantastical (or interpretive), could not exist if it wasn't based on things that can and do happen. Manga and anime are not the same as western cartoons... they are not made strictly for children. So yes, there are sexually explicit acts and violent themes in the story. Many western stories have those as well. Anyway I went off on a tangent. Point being I agree with you, not every book, anime, manga, or movie will be for everyone. Either you like it or you don't. If you don't, move on and find something you do like. That is how the rest of a civilized society works.

I think that nothing, not even Berserk is immune to criticism, but if you can't view something through a lens of critical thinking, then maybe you should just keep your takes to themselves. Even if it comes to light that Miura is a horrible person, it would still be disrespectful to his living relatives to trash his name. These "people" are just begging for clout and refuse to be critical or accept that something just simply "isn't for them".
Funfact: Vlad the impaler got so good at impaling people that he had them impaled through their anus to the mouth and they were still alive whilst being impaled that way. Way worse than what berserk shows sometimes.

With the mentality most of them have, I doubt they would even understand the horse. They would probably assume it means something else like: "I will mount you..." is clearly the horse throwing off the shackles of slavery to overthrow it's cruel human masters! All praise the horse!
The thing that gets me about these types of folks is that they don't understand villainy. One of my favorite authors David Gemmell had crazy shit happen when armies took cities. He did not go into gory detail George R.R. Martin style, but established that things like babies being crushed against walls was a thing. I find it odd that twitter folks who often call for violence against real people get offended when authors show violence against fake people. To them a person saying "Kill all men." is stunning and brave but a manga showing that violence is terrible and has consequences is somehow misogynistic. Long live Berserk. And twitter is not a real place.
The only "villain" they understand is the villain they think they can bang. More often than not, their "heroes" are written as villains unintentionally.
Twitter has people who claim that words are violence, that not agreeing with them is violence, that silence is violence... for fucks sake, they probably think a loaf of bread is violence. That's why they don't understand it, they can't even understand the words they use because their definitions change more than... actually, no, their genders probably change more than their definitions, but you get what I mean.
It's pretty much impossible to disagree with that. Almost everything I used to enjoy is ruined nowadays. With a few exceptions. By people who don't even consume the type of media they force their bullshit on. But gatekeeping bad I guess. Time to jump out the window.
I think the rarest virtue these days is being humble. Everybody has a soapbox they think their horrible opinion posts on twitter make a difference in the world
In a normal society, stupid opinions get berated and corrected, but Twitter is the opposite. It's the only place where those opinions are met with pats on the back. It's an echo chamber of childlike entitlement.

@Sonic Hedgehog The thing that i liked about happy tree friends was the fact that you could put so much gore in a cartoon, since at the time i didn't think that was possible. As soon as they said this didn't happen in medieval times I wanted to smash my head against a wall. The various forms of torture seen in Berserk can all be traced to real life torture methods that have been recorded in medieval history. There are a few that are more 1600s inspired but most of these are from the late medieval period which is around the time Berserk is technologically. People need to realize that these types of torture and punishment methods weren't really stopped in favor of more humane methods until the mid 1700s. And this more humane method was simple hanging where there were rules to stop prolonged suffering by simply stabbing or shooting them. It wasn't until the 1800s when the modern form of hanging which grants instantaneous death was invented.
If Twitter hates it, then 9 times out of 10 it's great. With years of Manga and anime with explicit scenes/themes you would think people would be used to this stuff.

I'm a woman here, and I really like Berserk. I honestly think it's my favorite manga. The point of showing Wyald with the dead bodies of women and children is to show us what are apostles. Wyald had no semblance of morality or empathy and took sadistic pleasure in his actions. It's meant to make you uncomfortable, it's meant to show the depravity within humanity when all that makes us human is lost. The rape of Casca is disgusting. It makes my skin crawl, it's absolutely horrible. It's meant to do that though. I remember watching the movie with my boyfriend and he was absolutely disgusted by it and he felt like it really shows what trauma does to a person. However, the entire eclipse scene is meant to be that way. We've seen how inhuman an apostle is, imagine one of the God Hand that create those monsters. We are shown absolute evil, hell, the God figure is literally called the Idea of Evil. These Twitter users are literally just taking everything at face value with none of the context behind it. It's meant to be disgusting, no one is reading berserk, wishing that they were Wyald. No one sees themselves in something so inhuman.
I never realized how much berserk meant to me until I met someone in a berserker armor cosplay at NYCC. I was genuinely overjoyed to see it and I had a really good conversation with him and saw how much we had in common and holy shit I love this series
Berserk, despite it's darkness and gore, is a surprisingly uplifting story. Even if everything is going to shit on a global level, there is still happiness to be had in every moment where shit does not go wrong
"Medieval times wasn't like this and its more like pre-recorded history." Someone needs to tell this guy that Guts character is literally based on the historical mercenary Gotz.
Thinking about it, the author wasn't aware of Gotz as it was quite a coincidence of their similarity. However, the story of Berserk depicted the olden days pretty well, it wasn't a pretty place to be alive back then since you're guaranteed to die or get screwed over in so many ways.

I'm not sure what history lessons have been like in the past 14 years, but if they haven't been learning this stuff in school then they're heavily sheltered. Nobody tell them medieval movies, TV shows and video games are educational and somewhat factual. I don't think they'll be able to handle such delicate information. No wonder people call them snowflakes, because they're absolute melts. 😄
Quite possibly, the greatest graphic novel/manga of all time. Kentaro Miura had more talent, patience, and insight in his pinky at age 10 than 95% of modern twitter users.
1) It's *dark* fantasy for a reason. Darker themes, tones, and scenes are all what the genre thrives on. 2) Yes, sexual assault is a thing in Berserk, just like it is in real life, and art imitates life more often then not. For people that complain a lot that a show/movie/comic isn't realistic enough for not having enough people that look and fuck like them, you sure to have an issue when realistic problems are depicted in fiction. 3) Most of the time, the sex in Berserk is consensual anyway, so even the logic that it's designed to be some grand male rape fantasy is flawed at best. 4) If your *only* takeaway across several volumes, movies, and other medium for the series is the treatment of less than a handful of women compared to the hundreds of men who have also suffered just as bad, if not worse, then you've either never read the manga or you missed the bigger point of the narrative entirely. The rape of Casca, for example, wasn't just rape for the sake of it; it was a calculated move by Griffith to break Guts, and you can argue Casca too, due to her going insane after the incident and her and Guts' child becoming corrupted. It's supposed to showcase Guts on the verge of losing everything. Therefore, when he goes after Griffith for revenge, he therefore has nothing left to lose. If Berserk isn't for you, fine. If you're put off by the content, then fine, because admittedly these can be pretty heavy topics. But for the love of God, let people enjoy a fictional work. It's not hurting anyone, and the gore, violence, and terrible things that go on serve a purpose; it's not just mindless. I don't see anyone saying anything about how sick the author of Kite Runner is, and that book also featured child rape throughout the entire book. Oh, but the children were male, so I guess it's whatever. 🙄
Must the Twitter mutants ruin for everything for other people? Also, what did these people expect, the franchise is an example of a universe where everything is trying to kill you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its more than just Guts losing everything, its Casca losing everything too. Hell, she probably loses more than Guts from that because, as horrifically damaged as Guts his, he's still an independently functional person whereas Casca... isn't. Griffith did it to destroy both of them and Guts only held on, the small bit that he did, with pure rage.
I'm still curious what exactly attracts people to "dark fantasy". I mean, isn't fantasy all about escapism in the first place? Because if so... what kind of person you have to be, what kind of impulses should be driving you if a world of endless abject torture is where you escape to?.. I'd understand if you were a closet sadist, enjoying depictions of suffering as you don't have the balls to do it for real and be next Jack The Ripper - or if you were a warzone kid imprinted with strife unending, defined by their trauma, who just can't comprehend normal life even after getting immersed in it; or something else along the lines. But as I see it, both are exceptions, even among a niche fanbase, so there must be something else. I've heard people saying it's kinda spicier that way, but, again, _what_ makes that spice - well, spicy - for you and why? What drives and desires make you _look for even more pain_ than the reality provides in ample quantities?
@@Hisu0 Escapism can come in several forms. For some, it could be a place where they could be anyone or anything, it could be a place of pure bliss, or alternatively, it could be where their darkest thoughts and fears are fleshed out to help them either embrace or conquer them. No one has one way of escaping reality, and almost every way is valid.
@@Hisu0 There's many reasons, but I'll give two here. Well, three because some people just like Horror which Berserk and Dark Fantasy have in spades. 1: Negative Escapism. Not sure if this is an actual phrase, but I'm using it. Basically, feeling better about your current situation because you're seeing someone who is in such a worse position. You feel life kinda sucks, so you read berserk, see how much Guts life sucks and then feel better because yours is like... 10% as bad. 2. Light is more powerful the deeper the dark. This one is simple, the heroes are more heroic if the evil they fight is more evil. They don't have to be perfect (preferable if they aren't, they just have to try to be good) but seeing even flawed people fight abject monsters, that have no care or feeling for life or decency heightened that heroism because the cost of failure is so much higher. There's also the fact that escapism doesn't mean that you want to be there. I enjoy Warhammer 40k, but sweet fuck do I not wanna go their. That universe is brutal violent and ugly, its also taken to such an extreme it hits parody levels (thus the term GrimDerp) and then its just a black comedy. But its also full of exciting badasses, honor, courage, valor, and lots and lots of sweet fights. Escapism just means you use it to forget about the world for awhile, and that can be a horror as easily as a comedy. Fantasy gets dark, how dark is up to your comfort level. Some of us are happy to walk into the jaws of hell, just to watch a beat up man punch it in the face.
Dang, calling this misogynistic when pre eclipse casca was an absolute girl boss just proves they’re fishing for anything to be mad at, if they actually read the manga (in which a woman is the commander of a force and completely respected by her peers who are all men) they’d see there’s so much more to the series that the grimdark. It’s about pushing against fate to try and make a better life for yourself and the people you care about and if these twitter users are so against that maybe they should stop virtue signaling for other things. - sincerely someone who loves berserk and falls under most of the brackets twitter is “defending” Tldr berserk is great and there are females and LGBT+ who appreciate its actual message, unlike these clowns
They'll never read it, they're allergic to good writing. Anything that feels like it has a sense of love and care put into it is too much for their brains to actually handle so they go into this accusation shutdown mode and throw a temper tantrum on Twitter because it doesn't fit their agenda.
I actually never read the Berserk manga to be honest. But I know a lot of friends who are die hard fans of it and they love it and I admire that. I'm definitely going to pick it up and start reading it now especially since the Twitter mob hates it.
That was probably my favorite arc. It really showed the emotional toll Guts had to carry on his shoulders. The 2016 Berserk was already bad enough, but they chickened out and skipped the Lost Children Arc. That was the icing on the cake.
Even Netflix was gatekept by it lol (For those who don't know, the offense to God, also known as the Netflix berserk anime adaptation, skipped over that arc entirely)
I remember I introduced my ex to Berserk and she became completely obsessed with it. Watched all the anime adaptations, bought and read the entire manga twice, and even had some figures. One day she goes on Twitter, sees people talking about Miura and how he's "misogynistic and glorifies rape/violence toward women". I try to explain to her that the violence and trauma inflicted in the story is the point and you can't just overlook the context of the events that unfold and it started a fight because she thought I was defending misogyny. 😂 Twitter is THE place you go to be brainwashed, can't have shit on Twitter.
I'm worried that the mob will stick around long enough to have a negative influence on the rest of the story or the decision whether to continue it or not.
16:16 That argument is like saying "oh, you drew someone stabbing another person. Ngl, that's kinda excessive and tells me that you actually like killing people". People can depict gruesome scenarios without being criminals themselves. And the fact that the manga didn't even make Guts' assault erotic in any way makes this even more of a shit take. Panels said what it needed to say and ended with Guts hugging his sword. If you find that sexual, that's on you. Like, even if Miura didn't include that, ped*s are an actual thing, and they intersect with innocent people whether you like it or not, people that are worth hearing stories about, people like Guts. I swear, there's tons of more concerning media out there and Twitter users pick the least worrying shit because that's the only thing they can affect. It's as if their posts are actually useless and are only about themselves. In the crusade of Twitter to dish out justice, they end up more cruel that any one they accuse. "He deserved his death". Yikes. These guys will have no qualms about killing ACTUAL PEOPLE IN REALITY for writing something they didn't like.
well of couse they have no qualms about killing actually people in reality.. look at the 2020 George Floyd Riots. Many people (well okay about a half dozen to a dozen) got murdered while several others got hospitalized for some serious wounds. Yet those criminals who attacked people who supported Trump and thought that George was a shitty person got to get away scott free. While the person who defended himself (from AN ACTUAL PEDO) was persecuted and labeled public enemy #1 and when he got acquitted twitter LOST THEIR COLLECTIVE MIND and STILL TO THIS DAY call him an evil person and guity of murder (self defense). and then they also say that the weasel known as (and I losely say this) Mr. Smollet who faked his own hate crime is STILL a helpless victum who shouldn't be jailed for being assaulted by a MAGA paraphenelia wearing racists... Just ignore that the people who did it is black like him, from nigeria, and had a check written to them for doing the staged hate crime.
"Yikes. These guys will have no qualms about killing ACTUAL PEOPLE IN REALITY for writing something they didn't like.” Actually, much like most braggart and tough shits on any social media be it twitter, facebook, Gab, 4chan etc they are all cowards and mostly bluff, they would never have the balls or the motivation to do so, they’re just preening like peacocks for their inner social club or peers to try and seem edgy and the most pious people who live like that on social media usually have no real principles or standards in real life, and thus have no passion or motivation to do something of actual consequence the fact that they wished death on a writer for something they’ve never read, never investigated, and are just taking off of second hand interpretations and accounts, should just show you that they’re not serious pay them no heed, they have no power other than to rile you Berserk is not going away or getting banned because the sliver of the actual world’s population on twitter got offended there are real war crimes and atrocities of mass murder, rape and genocide going on in Ukraine to our eastern European brothers and sisters, twitter scolds are not our highest priority right now.
@Zero currently they oppose the war of Russia invading Ukraine... They show support for Ukraine by adding the Ukraine flag to their bio/name and nothing more. That decision is as useful as christians saying "I pray for you.".. it is an empty gesture.
As I said on another post, twitter being baby about this masterpiece is just disrespectful. To even compare such a masterpiece into porn? Its disgusting! Its graphic, but it makes perfect sense and not all people are willing to face that, well not especially literal kids who cannot comprehend them. Its awful how they degrade this artwork. This manga thought me a lot and got me going, its just pitiful how not everyone can understand such a good work.
@@Spore9996 well, here goes Its a controversial Netflix film about an 11 year old Muslim African child who wants to get involved in dance but can't because of of her family's beliefs while also, apparently, dealinv with sexuality. Ppl have stated again and again how absolutely both bad and how the message the film spreads is terrible, especially for kids. However, as the OP said, some ppl still find ways to defend it
First off, people who rant and vent their frustrations on something they know nothing about on Twitter is already a lost cause. Secondly, I’m convinced that people on twitter bashing berserk have not actually sat down to read a single page of the actual manga.
Yeah. Whats worse is anyone that takes twitter seriously. Calm down you'll be okay lol those kids on twitter not liking berserk isn't going to effect your life or the world in anyway
Gatekeeping is always morally right and should be seen as such. I was on twitter during the entire fiasco and fake outrage when Miura passed and even watched it spread to other sites. People were actually rejoicing that he passed 'cause they thought Berserk was an abomination and it made my stomach churn. What's even worse is that most of the time when I checked into these people's profiles most of them were grown ass adults. Imagine being grown and acting like the biggest crime committed against you was a dark fantasy manga written by a guy that lived on the other side of the planet from you that you didn't know even existed till either his death or Elden Ring. I am so. Unbelievably. Exhausted.
A lot of Berserk main villains are actually BASED on historical, insane, figures. Vlad Tepes, Ivan the Terrible, Bathory, the list goes on. Their resentment of this form of illustrated evil is literally just their denial of human nature because they live such comfortable lives.
I will NEVER understand how a series like Game of Thrones doesn't get that much controversy online when the show is even depicted with live actors, but a fucking cartoon about demons is too much?
It's pretty offensive for these Twits to assume that everyone that appreciates Berserk is revelling in the misery depicted in those scenes. The whole point of the horrifying scenes is to horrify. What sort of upbringing do you have where you think that joy is the only emotion that art can evoke?
@@Phoenix0F8 Spot on, mate, and excellent reference to the art in question! I actually don't think the principle of admonishing antisocial behaviour is a bad one; it's part of raising a child or training a dog; but it's not supposed to be a sport or fun or done publicly to impress others, and it's supposed to be reserved for actual antisocial behaviour. The only thing liberal about these people is how freely they spread their hatred around. Imagine seeing one or two disturbing panels from a multiple volume manga (or one or two screenshots from a horror film) and immediately assuming that everyone that praised the art was empathising with the inhuman monsters not the suffering humans.
@@Phoenix0F8 Yup. They are completely depraved hypocrites. Take for example the Twit complaining about the violence in the story (note: story, as in not real) and says the writer deserves to die for it. Total lack of moral compass, tolerance, or self awareness.
@@Capnsensible80 As well as knowledge about anything related to it in general, seeing the writer is...well, dead. Keep in mind these people are the ones with the "progressive" mindset, so they claim. This is why I only use Twitter for art, never use it otherwise.
This whole thing reminds me of what Joker said in TDK. A battlefield full of soldiers gets ripped apart and nobody bats an eye cause it's all part of the plan. But if one singular woman gets killed, everyone loses their goddamn minds. How disturbing is it that a fictional psychopath makes more logical sense than Twitter?
Joker was the protagonist. Batman was the villain. Joker saw a chance to bring redemption, but batman represents the old guard. The old way is the only way (now stfu and pay your taxes or die slow way)
i never actually read Berserk but i once heard Miura's original vision of Berserk was a mix between Rose of Versailles (a historical-theme shoujo manga) and Fist of the North Star (a shounen manga with gory, post-apocalyptic setting)
“Berserk is so sexist towards women, it has no deep meaning and no respect for women!" So are we just ignoring the fact that Guts got raped as a child which made afraid of physical contact to the point that when he was being intimate with Casca, Guts was genuenly scared, so Casca showed true care and love towards him? Because if so that is far more fucked up than anything the Manga conjured up. And is arguably worse and more sociopathic than Griffith’s feelings towards everyone close to him as he screwed them all over for his own selfish gain. Figuratively, and certain characters cases, quite literally.
What berserk led me to find "You seem to take joy even in the most insignificant things. You are simply thinking that because of the hell you have been through" And the love in dark fantasy
Guts is my hero, he teaches us to carry on. He’s a true struggler that will fight against insurmountable odds. He can cut off his own arm to protect someone he loves, despite losing an eye, friends, the woman he loves he keeps struggling. If he can continue then so can we. He’s a beacon for hope. Someone to look up too. Berserk is horrible but it’s also beautiful too.
I'd like to add that struggle need not be fruitless. Struggle is expected, but to struggle for nothing is unnecessarily cruel. Guts learned how to struggle for a goal, to protect the people he loves, which is beautiful.
@@seraslain962 I'd like to add to this - you CAN struggle on without any overall goal in mind, as long as you search for one and struggle on for that goal.
@@mirceazaharia2094 Aye, struggling for a goal doesn't seem too uncommon, especially when you're taught to struggle for other people's goals. To find one's own dream or goal, to find their own struggle is itself someone people might fight for.
That's crazy, I randomly stumbled upon that game and thought "guy with big sword, and it has blood. I'll take it". I played through it and fell in love with the atmosphere and unapologetic grittiness. It was months after I beat the game that I discovered there was a 90's anime, which I binged watched, and then the cliffhanger ending made me read the manga. A random gamestop bargain bin purchase turned me into a die hard Berserk fan. Edit: just got to the part where he said "unapologetic nature" after posting this comment, lol
As usual you are 100% on point here Gundam. I'm an old man for this culture war nonsense at 40, but it means I'm old enough to remember the good days before social media was a thing. It really has been all downhill since normies got on the internet. Some people need to put their phones down, pull their heads out of their asses and go outside for a while. I swear to $DIETY, man. Berzerk is a masterpiece, it's a shame that it is wasted on these vapid people who have the emotional depth of a childrens wading pool.
Eh, their emotional pool is as wide as an ocean, but as deep as a thimble. They get "triggered" (morons took that from people who have actual PTSD and use it for when they hyperventilate because someone called them the wrong pronoun) by anything and everything. Fart the wrong way near them and its racist/sexist/whatever.
Guts' story and the root cause of his rage really touched my soul. I've cried several times reading it. Those critical of the blinding pain a child who carries *that weight* into adulthood, are sus.
@@iCtrlz Also! Shinji Kido: “TATAKAE!” Seriously! It’s not a joke. Take a look: ruclips.net/video/P1wVfJex0mU/видео.html This was 8 years before Shingeki no Kyojin-Attack on Titan.
There's almost nothing more sad than a writer never getting to finish his story before he dies, I'm not a fan of Berserk myself, but hearing about Kentaro Miura's death and founding out he never finished Berserk makes me sad. Rest easy.
Just a friendly reminder to everyone that the best way to fight Twitter pissbabies is to support what they're trying to cancel. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm heading off to buy more Guts figurines and anything else I can find that commemorates the genius of Kentaro Miura.
The best way to fight Twitter pissbabies is ignoring them and enjoy what you love. Two weeks later they find something else to shit on and noone cares anymore.
honestly when I got permaed from twitter for an algorithm mistake (just a reply to a picture that the algorithm can't put context to) my life improved significantly.
I believe Berserk is NOT merely for Entertainment. I found "MEANING" & "INSPIRATION" in Berserk. We love to watch/read such stories because we are "Meaning Seeking" creatures! Not all stories are for entertainment! Not all stories are for children! Not all stories are for the faint hearted! If you think stories/movies/novels are all for entertainment, then where is the entertainment in "300" or "Forrest Gump" or "A Silent Voice" or "Wolf Children" or "Unbroken"? Edit: I'm not vilifying any form of Entertainment. When I said Berserk is not "merely" for entertainment, I mean this - Beserk is more than Entertainment. It teaches life lessons! Sure, there are plenty of movies/novels/series (like comedies, light hearted stories and action-otiented movies) that are purely for "time pass" Or "pleasure seeking". And Berserk is not one of them! Berserk may not be a "joyous" ride, but sure is a meaningful one! And Hence, Berserk is not for everyone!
Meaning and inspiration can be found in stories meant for entertainment. That’s what also makes a story engaging, the emotional appeal. Would a story really be as entertaining without the emotion and deep themes?
I need to finish it. My only real issue with berserk is the random sex scene at the very beginning. I think it was like... A reference to Conan The Barbarian? Apart from that, the gratuitous content actually works really well in the context of the story. And I wouldn't advocate for any of the content to be censored though.
@@srinikethb8855 I meant a lore-focused story. For Berserk, the emotional appeal is what makes the story special despite being a series for entertainment.
@@Patrick-bn5rp I picked the Manga after watching the 1997 anime. Actually, I liked the Guts Introduction more in the Manga. I think Miura wanted us to view at Guts with the first impression of "Cold-blooded Badass Anti-Hero". That makes Guts character more mysterious and the viewer will be more intrigued to know his back story. But, Yes, Berserk contains nudity, sex, rape, violence, torture and gore. If one cannot stomach any of these, I do not suggest them to read/watch Berserk.
Well to be fair this is the same group who sent death threats to the author of My Hero Academia over the fact that Bakugo and Midoriya weren't gay for each other so... Yeah.. I pretty much expected this. Though I'm surprised it took em this long to find out about it. I wonder what will happen when they find out about the likes of Type-moon Franchise or any of kouta hiranos works (Hellsing & Drifters) or better yet Panty & Stocking (which is finally getting a season 2 apparently so I'll be watching with great interest.) Berserk was a huge impact in my late teenage life. I am in my 30’s for reference. There were defining moments in my life where I did not think I would succeed in my endeavors, but dug deep within myself like Guts to persist and fight on regardless. I would not be where I am now in life without Miura and his understanding of the human condition and the inspiration to stay determined even when the whole world seems to be against you. 🗡 💪🏽
Ive discovered berserk many many years ago and all i have to say is that its a work of art. At first i was like "oh a big dude with a huge.fkin sword. Must be fun." And then i read it and contemplated life while waiting for new chapters to come out. Bro had such a shitty life...from the moment of his birth(semi spoiler- its a fcked up way to be born like that), and still always found strength to move on. True motivation. So many things and details really make this into a work of art.
im a woman and my mom is a women and we were not affected nor offended by this manga.officially.ppls bs is just that, ppl doing bs, and art should be art forever, not the reasoning of few "women" and other"intelligent persons"lol
Berserk is amazing, tragic and one of the best mangas I’ve ever read. Guts is the best Bironic heroes and his parallels with Griffith make for an awesome story. For a manga to tackle such prescient issues and trigger people who can’t handle basic realities just reinforce how perfect it is. Fuck these people.
You need over 110 IQ to understand Bironic literature. Yes they're flawed characters. No it's not about them fixing those flaws. Sometimes they fix a flaw or to. But it's about flawed people in a flawed world and you just see what happens. No one's explicitly right nor wrong, and you have to be a simulate fictional people in your mind to see how they'd react. But fully realized fictional people. And then you add that petina of realism, darkness, grittiness, and tragedy.
@@Timdeuces Its like old folklore. Thor was Thor. He wasn't perfect. He was just him as a person/god. And GoW 2 in a weird way will be making his mythos more Bironic. As in a weird way it will have add to his lore.
When I first watched Berserk, I was just too young and found it too brutal. Luckily, I recently gave it a second chance and I love it. Some scenes are still a bit too much for me, but the story is amazing. As a woman I don't see why so many girls get offended? Might be the woke (weak) culture.
Ironically people who claim to be woke are the most mentally weak fragile humans. It’s so sad how weak society is now a days. Just because you disagree with something doesn’t mean you need to hate on it and call it all these cringe buzzwords.
These girls are what happens when you grow up in a society where you can press a button on your phone and instantly get food. When you literally do nothing all day, you tend to try and find problems.
@@NathanCassidy721 exactly people love to find things to get mad at or make stuff up and then make it everyone else’s problem. People should be able to like what they like unless it’s some messed up and not have to defend it.
Yeah that stuff should bake you feel uncomfortable and not horny The only scene (i can think of right now) that could be described as erotic is guts and cascas first time. Because that is wholesome and healing
You literally just admitted that some scenes are "still a bit too much for you" and in the VERY NEXT SENTENCE said that you don't understand why other women get offended by it. What the hell is wrong with you?
I think it’s just really weird that they’re having such an issue with it when it’s always been unapologetically Berserk. Guts starts off with little hope in the world to survive as even an infant. He savagely beats his body to try and survive, not excel, not live comfortably, just survive. The series is unforgiving and will always be known for being unforgiving, and that’s that. They can clutch pearls all they want but it’s never going to be anything but Berserk. Edit: those two ladies got suspended, so that’s a W.
that's the problem, it doesn't apologize. It doesn't shy away from the very real dark side of humanity, and refuses to pretend like it doesn't exist the way twitter wants Twitter is full of all the people who don't have the guts to confront the real world, and somehow think we're supposed to indulge that fantasy
@@petriew2018 as shown in the berserk the noble in the story is somewhat relate to twatter people they live in idealism and comfort but refuse to live the reality of the world our Guts is one of the people that suck it up and survive.
Simple, malice. These people are not just malicious: They are spiteful. They want to destroy everything you like out of malicious envy. To own whatever buzzword they think you are. They don't care and even dislike LOTR, or Berserk, or Warhammer 40k. They do this because they think the settings are "conservative" which in slactivist language is a derogatory synonym for "racist."
As a woman I really love Berserk. Read it as a teen but stopped because it was too graphic at the time. Decades later pick it up again but a bit too late because passing of Miura. :( Anyhow Berserk teaches many important things and the main thing is life is a b*tch and you have to fight your own battles and learn from them to find yourself and your way in life. It is really dark and is not a story for everyone 'cause it goes through rough subjects with graphic art, which brings up the subjects into realization that those really are horrendous when thinking about it. "Evil cannot create anything new but corrupt already existing things". It makes me sad all the good things are being shot down or corrupted. Take care Miura.
"Medieval times wasn't like this." that's the most stupid thing I've ever heard.🤣 On a real note, berserk is literally like real life, especially comparing it to history, when it comes to levels of brutality but with a fantasy twist.
Tbh without knowing what scene they are talking about They are right. Medieval had no apostles and witches If they talk about the rape.. i would say that medieval was probably worse
I really like this recent trend of normies complaining about fiction not being realistic, like, that's the entire point? Whenever twitter sees an anime (female) character with exaggerated proportions or a revealing outfit they complain about it not being realistic like if it wasn't a cartoon to begin with
In a technical sense, Berserk is actually unrealistically shitty to live in compared to real medieval life. That's not a writing problem however. The fact that it is so shit to live through in Fantasia is a literal plot point that is so intrinsic to the story that Miura literally omitted why it is like that for the sake of spoilers.
@@travisoliver6741 If we exclude the monsters and all supernatural, the worst thing in the story is the religious nuts burning witches. It's fairly realistic. As far as the monsters go, I think the idea of evil/god explains all.
My introduction to Berserk was via Death Battle when Guts faced off against Nightmare. Guts' character and the world of Berserk seemed so interesting and awesome that I checked out the 1997 anime, then the golden age movies, watched the cutscenes to Guts' Rage, and finally read the manga. I also discovered Susumu Hirasawa with the song "Forces", which instantly became one of, if not the greatest piece of music I ever heard. Berserk quickly became my all-time favorite manga, and Guts my all-time favorite character; and this was during a time when I had zero interest in reading manga. To say that Kentaro Miura's death hit me hard is an understatement. To see such a wholesome and talented man, the one responsible for the greatest story I've ever experienced, die only in his 50's was nothing short of heartbreaking. It also resonated with me on a personal level, because I'm artist and I want to tell my own stories some day with my art, either as an illustrator, or an animator. Guts' struggle against the cruelty and unfairness of the world, and how he keeps on fighting even if the situation seems impossible inspired me to keep going and see my plans through. Even more so with Miura's tragic passing teaching me that every second of our lives is more valuable than any gold or diamonds. Sadly, it was only a matter of time until these opportunistic vermin on Twitter would come after Berserk. They're calling Berserk toxic, but they're the ones dragging a dead man's name through the mud and purposefully misrepresenting his work just to feel superior to everyone else. I'm convinced that if Behelits existed, these scumbags who claim to be morally superior to the rest of humanity, would become Apostles if it meant no longer feeling pain or suffering. From the deepest bottom of my heart, to the assholes who say that Miura deserved to die, sincerely: Fuck You!!!

From what i heard he left a manuscript with main story points to guys who were working with/for him and they will continue his work.

And the art, and the expressions paint such a vivid story…
I understand not everyone can stomach the gore or the nudity.

Even if everything is going to shit on a global level, there is still happiness to be had in every moment where shit does not go wrong

"Medieval times wasn't like this and its more like pre-recorded history."
Someone needs to tell this guy that Guts character is literally based on the historical mercenary Gotz.
Thinking about it, the author wasn't aware of Gotz as it was quite a coincidence of their similarity. However, the story of Berserk depicted the olden days pretty well, it wasn't a pretty place to be alive back then since you're guaranteed to die or get screwed over in so many ways.
'Medieval times wasn't like this'.

@@randomidiot8142 Especially craploads of impaling and torturing in old days of Romania. Quite possibly, the greatest graphic novel/manga of all time. Kentaro Miura had more talent, patience, and insight in his pinky at age 10 than 95% of modern twitter users.
Literally the best romance in all of fiction
The Incal could rival it.
That's why I hate Twitter.. they are sensitive and ruin everything with their ideals. I hope they don't discover such legendary works anymore.

I hope you left her. I certainly would have.
Ironically, knowing that the story of Berserk will never be finished by the author makes it an even more complete tragedy.
One of the greatest strengths of Berserk is that it gatekeeps itself very well, the majority of Twitter wouldn’t get past the Golden Age Arc.
@CW *laughs in Daddy Donovan*
What you smoking? They wouldnt get past the first chapter
I'm worried that the mob will stick around long enough to have a negative influence on the rest of the story or the decision whether to continue it or not.
@CW Company executives are notoriously fickle and they are the ones holding a knife to Berserk's throat.
@CW I thought that about Warhammer, too. I'm not taking anything for granted.
Smollet who faked his own hate crime is STILL a helpless victum who shouldn't be jailed for being assaulted by a MAGA paraphenelia wearing racists... people who live like that on social media usually have no real principles or standards in real life, and thus have no passion or motivation to do something of actual consequence
the fact that they wished death on a writer for something they’ve never read, never investigated, and are just taking off of second hand interpretations and accounts, should just show you that they’re not serious
pay them no heed, they have no power other than to rile you
Berserk is not going away or getting banned because the sliver of the actual world’s population on twitter got offended

@Zero So if twitter is against genocide or war crimes that means those are good then?

@Zero currently they oppose the war of Russia invading Ukraine... They show support for Ukraine by adding the Ukraine flag to their bio/name and nothing more. That decision is as useful as christians saying "I pray for you.".. it is an empty gesture.

The only thing liberal about these people is how freely they spread their hatred around. FINALLY another one of us
“Berserk is so sexist towards women, it has no deep meaning and no respect for women!"
So are we just ignoring the fact that Guts got raped as a child which made afraid of physical contact to the point that when he was being intimate with Casca, Guts was genuenly scared, so Casca showed true care and love towards him? Because if so that is far more fucked up than anything the Manga conjured up. And is arguably worse and more sociopathic than Griffith’s feelings towards everyone close to him as he screwed them all over for his own selfish gain. Figuratively, and certain characters cases, quite literally.
What berserk led me to find
"You seem to take joy even in the most insignificant things. You are simply thinking that because of the hell you have been through"
And the love in dark fantasy
Berserk and 'Explained in autistic detail' are 2 of my favorite series these days. Bless you Gundam for bringing those together!

Someone to look up too. Berserk is horrible but it’s also beautiful too.

I love how Berserk isn't afraid to show you what true evil is
That's crazy, I randomly stumbled upon that game and thought "guy with big sword, and it has blood.
The game was cannon btw

When I said Berserk is not "merely" for entertainment, I mean this -
Beserk is more than Entertainment.
@@jamiewilson6155 Yes! Comedies can be entertaining without deep emotional plots.
I wonder what will happen when they find out about the likes of Type-moon Franchise or any of kouta hiranos works (Hellsing & Drifters) or better yet Panty & Stocking (which is finally getting a season 2 apparently so I'll be watching with great interest.) This story had me in my feelings for like a week RIP to the author such an awesome experience both the manga and anime
@Shallot same but for like 20 years
Berserk was a huge impact in my late teenage life.
Then youre a smart and intelligent women.
@@k_tess Exactly. They want their morals spat back at them verbatim rather than simply engaging with the work on its own terms.
Yeah that stuff should bake you feel uncomfortable and not horny
The only scene (i can think of right now) that could be described as erotic is guts and cascas first time. Because that is wholesome and healing
You literally just admitted that some scenes are "still a bit too much for you" and in the VERY NEXT SENTENCE said that you don't understand why other women get offended by it. What the hell is wrong with you?
Twitter is like the Imperium of Man from Warhammer 40k. Whenever they find something ‘new’ they decide that it is completely evil and heretical
It doesn't shy away from the very real dark side of humanity, and refuses to pretend like it doesn't exist the way twitter wants
Twitter is full of all the people who don't have the guts to confront the real world, and somehow think we're supposed to indulge that fantasy

@@petriew2018 Dude. They believe Men can be Women and Women can be men. That already tells you they live in a fantasy.
Tbh without knowing what scene they are talking about
They are right. Medieval had no apostles and witches
If they talk about the rape.. i would say that medieval was probably worse
Especially the chapters with the religious cult where they burn heritics every time they exhale.
As far as the monsters go, I think the idea of evil/god explains all.
i'm a 17 yo dude from iran who recently met berserk and i wanna read all the volumes and wait for new ones by the new people
My introduction to Berserk was via Death Battle when Guts faced off against Nightmare.
You took every word out of my mouth. Couldn't have said it better. Cheers👊💪!
