Dave is on fire with his vocals. What a voice! The guitar player is fantastic too. 😊 Thanks WildIronLizzy👍💯
What an incredible singer! Powerful and yet so melodic voice and a very wide vocal range. A very rare breed. Dave Bickler is one Super talented rock and soul singer. 🥰🥰🥰
Excelente video, Grande Survivor🔥❤
Loving the first song. Not too crazy about the 2nd. Too 80s commercial pop for me. But this Dave singer has the unique vocal tone, strength, and singing style one can only dream of having. Why isn't this hidden gem well known compared to other mediocre rock singers whose vocal abilities is luke warm? His voice got me into Survivors! ❤❤❤
I feel the same way. I do not like Jimi Jameson era of Survivor. It was too glam rock for me with all the 80's power ballads. Dave still sings his songs beautifully though.
Its a Jimi Jameson song High On You that's why. Sounds less glam with dave singing it though. Its like there were two Survivors. The one with dave and the 80's cheese with Jimi.
Another fantastic rear video with Dave and band we all followed in our youth! Thank you!
Love that synthesizer sound for High On You. Always have, always will.
Survivor - Broken Promises
Summer and smoke, diamonds and dust
Go where you will, do what you must
The promise was made, your word was enough
We had dreams, visions and plans
Into the night, out of our hands
Letting our passion fulfill our demands
I remember those songs on the radio
The jasmine, the wind in your hair
Does it seem like so long ago?
Broken promises
Is it written in stone that we wind up alone, wo oh
Broken promises
And a heart that recalls
When the promise was all that we had
Into the dust, reckless we rode
Secret desire, talking in code
Bittersweet madness, the stories unfold
I remember those songs on the radio
The jasmine, the wind in your hair
And how it hurts to remember those
Broken promises
Is it written in stone that we wind up alone, wo oh
Broken promises
In your heart still recalls
When the promise was all that we had
Interlude:
Broken promises
Is it written in stone that we wind up alone
Broken promises
In your heart that recalls
When the promise was all that we had
Broken promises
Is it written in stone that we wind up alone, wo oh
Broken promises
In your heart still recalls
When the promise was all that we had
Broken promises
Is it written in stone that we wind up alone
Broken promises
In your heart still recalls
When the promise was all that we had
I haven't seen this one. 🥰💞 Thanks so much for the upload. Your awesome.
You're welcome Carrie! Got to show our support for the G.O.A.T Dave Bickler. 👍😊
I have another video of Eye of the Tiger live from 1982 uploaded last night. The audio is better quality and the video clips (which i suspect you may have already seen before) is synced with Bickler's singing. He was a joy to work with. 😄 It has some Rocky 3 footages too. Beats watching a still picture in my humble opinion. 😉
@@WildIronLizzy . I'd love to see Dave doing Hesitation Dance live here. I wish they had included more of a repertoire of Dave's songs into the sets . Too many Jimi Jameson songs.
@@carried1676 I completely agree with you Carrie. These 93 and 94 gigs had more of the jimi era songs. Wish we had actual video of any live concerts from the Going the Distance tour where Dave had sang Hesitation Dance. He also sang Ever Since the World Began at the Spectrum show in Philadephia, Aug '82. Big tour with REO Speedwagon, and so many festivals and arenas played but no one filmed the Survivor set? Other bands that was on the same bill as them have had their set filmed and on dvd? So unusual. 🤔
@@WildIronLizzy . I know . I wish we could watch the Going The Distance Tour instead of just listening to the audio.☹️ That way we could watch Dave perform hesitation dance. 🥰. Anything of Dave in his prime is rare. There's just not much around. You have to appreciate what there is I guess. Heck, I'm still waiting for someone to upload a good copy of Jackie Don't Go video instead of the only poor quality one that's available now. Someone must have it. 🤔If someone has a poor quality one , there must be someone out there in possession of one that's not damaged.
As for the Jimi era set list, I think they thought that's mostly what the audience wanted to hear at that time and they were probably right, as Jimi's stuff was more mainstream and "commercial " and unfortunately what more people know.
It's a shame. ☹️ Commercial doesn't equal better and certaintly not when you compare early survivor with Dave to Jimi's soft metal material with Survivor.
Doesn't even come close.
It's like they had two completely different bands. One with Dave, and then a completely different one with Jimi.
Both Dave Bickler and Jimi Jamison both sound equally as good singing each other’s songs.
Dave’s voice is really good here. He really does justice singing Jimi’s material. I wonder if it took Dave this long to recover from his throat surgery or what else he was doing before asked to rejoin Survivor for brief time. Sadly Dave doesn’t really have the vocal strength, pitch and tone much anymore. He sounds almost as good as he did when he was originally in the band. To bad there’s really no live material from his time in the band.
Does anybody know the identity of the substitute guitar player? I think he did a decent job substituting for Franky!
Couple backup dancer in crowd 🤣
What does Jimbo say in this '' And dave its in G" ?????????
Jimbo meant Dave will be singing High on You in the key of G. The song root chord is G.
@@WildIronLizzy Ahhhh Ok. So he did say " Dave its in G" . Thanks for the confirmation.
@@carolynl.890 My pleasure Carolyn. 😊
@@WildIronLizzy I have two accounts. One from my primary computer another from my phone. One is under Carrie and the other one is under my real name. My name is Carolyn.
And yes if if do make contact with Dave ill let you know. Ill try and find out if there are any video recordings from Going The Distance. It was back in 1982 so not sure. I think he was trying to signal to me that's it ok if i want to talk to him and to message him. He's not going to do it on his Instagram page though. I'm gonna have to direct message him in private. I'm gonna try and find out. Its funny how you can buy a vintage T-shirt from that tour on Ebay ( the legit shit too not a recreation) but cant watch any of that tour from his prime.
@@carolynl.890 I had no idea! I've seen comments from you both on my videos but I would never had thought it was the same person. 😀 Thanks Carolyn. Hopefully your efforts in communicating with Dave and unlocking some of those Survivor mysterious, like those 82 shows, comes to fruition. 😉 I had wondered why those vintage tour t-shirts are still available but no release of the shows themselves. 🤔🤨
The ONLY singer for Survivor
I think Dave Bickler's voice is superior to Jimi Jamison's. Nothing against Jimi, I love all of his songs. But there's something about Dave's voice that just makes it special.
