I'm not a big fan of modern Velma. Back in the 90s films Velma was perfectly willing to abandon her skepticism when it was no longer logical. These days she won't acknowledge the existence of the paranormal when it's staring her in the face.
@@StunClubSoda Stun Club Soda Stun Club Soda Stun Club Soda i rewatch all the 13 ghost of Scooby-Doo and watch the new Scooby-Doo mystery, In the new Scooby Doo mystery, Fred and Velma have jobs that was the reason why they were not solved mystery with shaggy, Scooby, Daphne, Scrappy-Doo. And in one episode when everyone got together for Halloween they meet real monster. And do know what Velma did? She just to it as true. At first everyone didn't believe it but 5 second later, everyone believe they was real and no one tried to deny it even. Why can't the new Velma be like the old one. And if the new Scooby Doo mystery is connecting to the 13 ghost of Scooby-Doo. What is this crap that Fred and Velma been at summer camp?
I could get the sense of irony of that joke that some people just won't change their "opinion" even with facts... but she does this everytime, it's just annoying, and we could just put her aside, but what brings everything down is that her crappy explanation at the end of every movie is the new "canon". Makes no sense and it's a shame because the old shows and movies tried to give us a different perspective and the new ones, while some are hilarious, they come and crap all over the "real ghost" stuff just because they think that's smarter (?) and let's not forget that in the original they were already adults and they reverted them to teenagers as "fixed" in the sequel to zombie island, school project my ass, Daphne and Fred had a Tv show, Velma had a book store, and Scooby and Shaggy worked at an airport.
I love The Thirteen Ghosts of Scooby Doo, to the point where, for my eighteenth birthday last year, I picked out Curse of the Thirteenth Ghost as a present despite having never seen it. I bought it and 3/4 of the movie I was enjoying and then... The end. While it was supposed to be made for fans of the original show it felt like a spit in the face to all that we cared about. The best Scooby Doo stuff has real ghosts and Thirteenth Ghosts doesn't work without the ghosts. It was a promising movie that turned out to be a total let down, just because it couldn't take creative risks. I feel like Return to Zombie Island ended up the same way.
They made Velma into a flat earther, someone so skeptical that she can't see the truth. The whole point of science isn't that it's infallible, science is adaptable and seeks to understand the world. If Velma existed before computers were a thing, she'd say "computers are impossible, it defies science, it's a trick" she treats science as if it were a religion and doesn't accept anything outside the realm of possibility. Velma in Zombie Island (1998) was great, she was a skeptic, but didn't deny obvious clues in front of her, at the end she accepts that the supernatural may exist.
Remember Scoobynatural? Velma was a skeptic there which makes sense giving this was 1960s' Velma and not post-Zombie Island' Velma so she never encounter real monsters or ghost until she literally saw one about to kill her and her friends so I don't understand why they need to play up Velma being a skeptic knowing all the shit they had to deal with and the movie made it obviously clear that Zombie Island, ignoring Return to Zombie Island, was canon so Velma should have no reason to call everything that happen in 13 Ghost as "Just an illusion due to the height of the Himalayas" which, funnily enough, this movie also made her an idiot because the gang travel all over the world, not just the Himalayas, so how can she disprove ghost and demons don't exist when her explanation for why it's not real is straight up wrong?
I started to hate her for her persevering skepticism and for insisting that all her explanations matter and that she believes that everything to do with the supernatural was and always is false, in the movie Scooby Doo and the King of the Leprechauns she takes the memory was erased but before that she fainted when she saw with her own eyes that the magic of monsters and fairies exist more she was turned into a werewolf
Someday let’s hope they make the gang encounter a real ghost or monster again and it hits Velma super hard in her skeptical egghead face and she has no choice but to accept the fact that ghosts and monsters are indeed real, and I will look forward seeing that plus seeing Velma, daphne and Fred actually be the bait for once instead of shaggy and Scooby
I re watched the series just before watching the movie, And I was loving it till the last 5 min. It has poisoned my memory and nostalgia for the original series.
Velma’s explanation are just plain stupid, it doesn’t even explain the other things that happened in the old series plus she doesn’t even debunk Vincent being a sorcerer which Daphne, Scooby, and Shaggy know that HE IS, I mean you can tell Daphne and Flim-Flam didn’t even buy her explanation at the end Also, they caught ghosts ALL over the world not just the Himalayas! But regardless, I’m just glad that Daphne, Shaggy and Scooby know that magic exist and that ghosts/demons exist If Velma doesn’t wanna believe in it, that’s her problem Btw there’s supposed to be a sequel to that KISS movie, so prepare for her to be skeptic again lol
Because of how she handle everything at teh end of the movie, i want to punch her in the face. I loved how the 13 ghosts show was about real monsters. She better start believing or else ... Well, as you said it's enough that Daphne, Shaggy, Scrappy and Scooby believe and Flim-Flam too.
Here's the thing about Velma she's not this stupid! In the past movies or shows when the supernatural was real and she confronted she accepted it as real becasue she had common sense. This version of Velma is just obnoxious and Fred is a whiney bitch. Their trying to use the characterization of mystery inc but only in its extreme broad strokes. The live action movies had Velma handeling the supernatural better then this.
I'll say Fred is ok... and just that. Velma on the other hand was completely annoying. She kept on saying there's 'no such things as ghosts’, man she maybe smart but she's a completely smart ass.
I want another redo, because this one ended up not what I hope for. Nothing supernatural actually really happen it was just another hoax. It's fine once in a while but the 13 ghost series is suppose to be about real ghost with real threats.
Same here. The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo was one of my top 5 Scooby Doo shows. The movie was getting good at first, but the last 5 minutes ruined the film and the whole series. What Velma did stabbed me in the heart. I TOO WANT A REDO OF THE FILM, AND THIS TIME, THEY FIND THE 13TH GHOST AND THERE ARE REAL GHOSTS.
Fred and Velma were never at summer camp in the original show. They were absent because of their jobs as revealed in New Mysteries. The new movie is a lie. So many continuity errors.
YouDon't KnowSponge Yes but WB ignores the real reason why they were absent because. People either over look, forgot or choose to forget about The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries. Which is sad I wish they didn't ignore that.
The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo is a completely different timeline. They don't mention Fred and Velma in that show at all and they should have kept the same ensemble of characters in the movie. The new mysteries is a different timeline compared to the 13 ghosts.
I actually somehow only JUST learned about this movie existing a few days ago. How I went over half a year since its release, and even longer since it was announced, I have no idea. I remember watching the original show in reruns as a kid in the early 90s (I was born in '86 so it ended a few years before I could have watched it originally). It was never my favorite Scooby Doo series, but I wanted to see the movie a lot once I learned of it. But honestly? The more I've looked into the movie, I honestly don't know if I want to bother. If you'll excuse the unintentional pun, it just seems like the movie goes against the spirit of the series. Like the whole "It was a guy in a costume all along" convention. I mean sure, that's an incredibly common thing for Scooby Doo and in itself I don't mind that at all, but in the context of the 13 Ghosts series, I'm not sure it fits (though I guess they just had to with the whole smug skeptical Velma thing). Then not having the two bumbling ghosts and Scrappy in the show. I get Scrappy is sort of unpopular these days, but it felt weird his absence was turned into a joke of sorts. Plus the idea that they tried to plant doubt that any of the ghosts ever actually existed I don't think I'm a big fan of. That said, yeah...I'm just up in the air about wanting to see it or not.
I know a lot of people are asking why bogel and weird weren’t in this movie. They were in every single episode of the original show and i have seen so many people wondering why and being mad that they didn’t show up in the movie but I’m pretty sure that’s because they got sucked into the chest in the last episode of the show. I may be wrong about that so feel free to let me know if i am but I’m pretty sure that they got sucked into the chest along with the 12th ghost in the final episode which obviously would explain why they aren’t in this movie. Also I really liked were this movie was heading but velma was really starting to make me mad and the ending was just so stupid. If they would have just cut out all the nonsense about the 13th ghost being a regular person and the chest being the wrong one the whole time and how they made it seem like the original series never happened then this movie would have been great. I really wish that they could have just captured the demon in the chest and then tied up a bunch of little loose ends and then ended the movie that way it would have been just like the series and it would have been a perfect ending. But I guess I’ll just have to settle for this. Overall it wasn’t that bad i guess. Also I really hated the thing about fred being a cheerleader. Don’t get me wrong i have no problem with male cheerleaders like a lot of cheer squads wouldn’t be near as good without their male members so i have no problems with that. However the reason i hated it is because it was way off from freds character for him to be a cheerleader like it didn’t make sense at all, it had nothing to do with this movie, it didn’t make sense because they have said he was actually at trapping camp before this movie which makes a lot more sense, and it wasn’t funny either because unless you are living in the 80’s still what is funny about a male cheerleader? So yeah I really hated that part.
Velma was rather smug and unlikeable with her inflexible skepticism over supernatural stuff. But had she and Fred were in the TV series...the episodes would end differently...Fred would still make traps and Velma will dismiss each episode as smoke and mirrors.
I’ll be honest I love 13 ghost, it’s cheesy, not that good, and just annoying at times but I love it none the less. I didn’t even know this movie existed and I’m glad it does since when I was growing up and had the series on dvd I use to always wonder why it ended so sudden with no satisfying ending. I’m actually rewatching the series on the same dvds I’ve had for years and had to look it up to see what people thought of it and if they shared the same opinions which is how I got here.
If only "the curse of the 13th ghost" movie was made in 1990s or 2000s, then the movie would be a different story. the gang seen real zombies, aliens, and a witch.
kinda makes you wonder if they made Velma basically the director's mouthpiece that really disliked the source materials, 13 Ghosts and the first Zombie Island :/
You're not the only person to think that. Sadly there are writers/fans out there who don't like "Supernatural" elements being in the Scooby-Doo franchise. I can respect why they might be against it, since the original series was all about solving mysteries and debunking superstitious nonsense. Supernatural stories could be considered a form of jumping the shark for them. But that doesn't give them the right to mess around with scooby-doo properties that do deal with supernatural storytelling. I believe the fandom should be able to embrace both sides of the real vs fake monsters spectrum. Hopefully one day Velma can be her own character again and not be some writer's voice-piece like you mentioned above.
Oh man I was so hype when I heard this was coming out because I grew up nearly every incarnation of Scooby Doo, including the 13 Ghosts. I thought'd it be great to return to an older property while injecting new life into it. It's been over a year since I've seen it now, but if I remember correctly, the first two thirds are actually decent - it's that last third act that unravels everything for me. It feels like it has to return to a status quo of "the monsters aren't real" with a small wink of "unless..." It feels disingenuous to the original 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo. Also, I really didn't care for Velma's voice actress in this movie, and Velma herself just gets grating with her smug need to be right about everything.
Shaggy/Daphne had so much chemistry in that show unlike the dry styrofoam chemistry of Fred/Daphne. They should have made the movie with just the original characters from the 13 ghosts and subtly hinted at that romance to shake things up. Scooby Doo needs to have different things because it has started to become a lowly, soulless cash grab for WB.
@@thetechnocrat4979 yes you are right. I'm surprised that how little people think about that and also it is never experimented upon again. Fred/Daphne looks good on screen but that's it. Shaggy/Daphne has lot more chemistry. I would say their relationship was building up since the shows when it was only Shaggy, Daphne, Scooby, Scrappy. There are plenty of hints. I think they should do Shaggy/Daphne now with modern technology and graphics and with proper build up. If they do it properly the couple would be really cute. We have had Fred/Daphne nearly on every shows and movies. Why not change it up?
@@SS-vs4lo Agreed. For me, I was never appealed by the Fred/Daphne dynamic as their chemistry feels too much of the pretty boy/pretty girl gig. It is not inherently wrong and if given a proper build up, can be very aesthetically pleasing but it has never been done properly. Except for Be Cool Scooby Doo (my personal favourite show), all the modern adaptations of SD literally shove the ' romance ' of Fred/Daphne down our faces and it has become annoying. Another thing which I absolutely loathe about the modern creators is the way they literally insult Shaggy/Daphne fans by vehemently denying even a slight possibility and treating it like a horrible bug (an infamous example would be the episode of ' Night Terrors ' from Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated Season 2 and it is not the only example)! Ironically it feels like a closet homosexual who tries to cope with it by vehemently denying its existence and constantly vocalizing about how ' Gays are bad! '. Scooby Doo needs a fresh new take but in a way which is respectable to the great Dane's legacy. I would love to see subtle and carefully handled romantic arcs between Shaggy/Daphne and Fred/Velma in it along with darker, grittier mysteries yet retaining good humour.
Its weird. The Curse of the 13th Ghost was way better than return to Zombie Island. When Zombie Island ist still considerd the best and 13 Ghost kind of the worst of Scooby. Also I did not remember much about the original Series, but the Movie was very good on its own and the Intro told you everything needed.
If all the other ghosts weren’t real and were “Himalayan air fucking with their brains” then How come when Scooby Shaggy Daphne Scrappy and Flim Flam left to go grab the Ghosts they were still there that makes no sense honestly I got really annoyed by Velma in this movie.
Wow; great point! The whole thing may have just been a lame excuse to get rid of Scrappy (for that would explain why Velma didn't know who he was. He was just a hallucination too!) So they figure write out of existence all the other ghosts as well, and thus "restore" the "original formula" where ghosts are only fake, and it's the original gang.
LOVED your review thank you so much for sharing this... the first time I watched this I found myself wondering how others who enjoyed all different incarnations of Scooby Doo felt about this twisty turvy "sequal"
Kinda messed up that the flashback/intro sequence showing Daphne, Shaggy, Scooby, and Flim-Flam capturing the other ghosts didn't include Scrappy. He was an integral part of that show regardless of people disliking him (I didn't really have a problem with him).
@Miles Goodison-Fearon A lot of fans are still torn over Scrappy. I think logically the writers/fans should at least improve on the character if they despise him so much. Why hate a fictional character when you could fix their personality traits and flaws.
@@ricardohuff8774 read Scooby Apocalypse comics. Scrappy makes a good comeback and has a superb character arc there, going from evil with a reason this time to being redeemed.
I have a bit of a soft spot for the 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo. And I hate this movie for that ending. I don’t care if they left it ambiguous, Velma’s speech at the end was utterly stupid. While it is true that the franchise is mostly grounded in reality, it has dipped into the supernatural before. Zombie Island and Mystery Incorporated have and those two are considered by many to be the best Scooby Doo has ever put out so it’s not like it’s unknown to fans. Why did they even bother with this movie if they were just going to pull this crap?
100% agree with on that. The executives apparently wanted to force the standard Scooby-Doo formula onto this film, even though it wouldn't of worked out well since the original series went a different path with how it handled its plots. For example, instead of arresting crooks disguised in masks, the gang would have to suck in the demon back into the chest of demons. So watching this film and the way they handled it makes me want to have a word with whoever thought this film was a good idea for a 50th anniversary for Scooby-Doo and ask them why on Earth they had to ruin it by polluting it with the infamous "Swamp Gas/Lack of Oxygen Due To Being High Up The Mountains" line from Velma. I understand that a lot of people, even Carl Sagan praised the original series for being somewhat educational about how monsters aren't real etc... But at some point, a fraction of the writers & fanbase would want to write/watch something new. Some wanted to see if the supernatural elements could work well within a franchise like Scooby-Doo & frankly it worked wonders. The purists need to stop & embrace the fact that Scooby-Doo has dealt with both subject matters - The Grounded & The Supernatural. One of the many reasons for Zombie Island's success was because by that point many fans & writers were getting sick & tired of the typical Scooby-Doo formula. Personally I want to enjoy the costumed crooks without having to worry that would be the only formula I would be getting from a Scooby-Doo plot til the day the series fades forever from time & history.
@@Sandstormer9 there are so many spin offs on Scooby Doo. Some grounded in reality and some have supernatural. It feels like they are going out of their way to change every last one to be grounded. Watch. Next year there will be a movie that follows up Mystery Incorporated and retcons all the supernatural elements in that one. To be honest, I never really got into Mystery Incorporated but I understand why others like it. Makes me wonder how they are going to screw with the Courage crossover
@@joegreen3802 I fully understand your worries. After Return To Zombie Island, a lot of fans including me became worried about what other film or series the writers might retcon as well. As for Mystery Incorporated, I liked and enjoyed it. A lot of people/fans consider it the best series. Personally my favourites are the original series & the 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo. Just out of curiosity, what was your favourite chest demon, character & episode from the 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo? My favourites were the episodes with Demondo, Maldor, Zimbulu & Time Slime. I also really enjoyed the Frankenstein episode as well. That was a wonderful homage to that classic.
@@Sandstormer9 I just recently got the DVD for the series and started rewatching it again. I’m enjoying it, but I don’t have a favorite yet. Though for my favorite Scooby Doo series, Pup named Scooby is my all time favorite, and I like What’s New Scooby Doo as I see it as the original with no laugh track, a better budget, and the best opening a Scooby Doo cartoon ever had in my opinion. I also do enjoy the 13 Ghosts
hmmm, guys hear me out here, the 13th ghost was there observing and decided not engage and let the other guy do his dirty work, the 13th ghost is out there gaining more power for sure, very strange flim flam and vincent parted way like that..flim flam knows something we don't know, remember the rules stated that whoever opened the box are to close it back when they capture all the ghost, the box probably didn't work with velma cause she was not the originally person who opened it! plus we don'y know what the actual ghost was, so something else to think about, they go to college now, they are suppose to be adults, so my theory is that mystery incs timeline bleed into the old time creating confusion to everyone, cause flim flam is suppose to be an adult now won't he?
I loved the first half but that ending was a major turn off for me. I think it's clear that supernatural obviously exists in their world. Plus, hello, Vincent is a freaking Warlock!
Or magician if he had powers he would have used them to catch the ghosts he's not as powerful as he claims and his crystal ball was fixed with a screwdriver
This movie was an insult to the 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo. These bastards have destroyed Velma. I would have loved to see a 13 Ghosts movie true to the original show (but more darker in tone with actual threatening situations) with only Scooby, Shaggy, Daphne, Scrappy (in a very less annoying charecterisation), Flim Flam (less annoying and more grown up) and Vincent Van Ghoul. Of course, the characters ahould be more aged (25 year old Shaggy and Daphne instead of teens). Bogel and Weerd should have made an appearance as well! This was such a missed opportunity that it makes me sad.
100% agree with everything you said. Fred and Velma had no place to be in this film. The way they were written in the film ironically made them the Scrappy in my eyes. Also wish they just age up the gang. Having them be teens all the time, especially when written off as long-time professionals, you would think the teen premise would be unrealistic by that point.
@@Sandstormer9 Agreed. Keeping them as teens in this movie (a movie which os supposed to be the sequel of 13GSD) just destroys the continuity and is impractical. Anyways, Return to Zombie Island is even worse and it shows a stupid trend that WB is following (No real ghosts and monsters because Velma has some half assed ' reasons ') I like your analogy of Fred and Velma becoming the ' Scrappy ' of this movie. Also, the whole idea (and how it was pushed) of Fred being insecure because Daphne is the leader and then how he decides to be more supportive by being a cheerleader was cringe. Anyway, I could rant for a while but it is not going to help anyone is it!
on the fred whining about being leader thing i honestly think daphne makes mroe sense to be leader with the modern personalities of the cast she is the normal one of the group after all and is theo ne who has a 1000 skills as needed for the plot fred is good at traps but he dont really work as a leader now in days
Does anyone feel that the new style of scooby doo movies put way to much emotion in there . It kinda kills it for me . I mean after mystery incorporated scooby doo movies in that style are filled with drama between the mystery inc crew. The characters act like they're some kinda soap opera and it's kinda annoying.
100% agree. For once, can't someone just own the 80's fashion style without feeling shame or embarrassment. Not everybody looked ridiculously during the 80's. Also it would be a nice break from her usual fashion sense.
Honestly the film would've been fine, perfectly fine, if they just hadn't decided to cram all those twists and back-pedal on Velma finally accepting that ghosts are real. I mean she shouldn't have been skeptical anyway, given her past adventures, but the biggest problem was really all that crap at the end about the ghost just being the partner, the real ghost just seeking redemption, etc etc. Just, why? What was the fucking point? That whole opening sequence with the partner sacrificing himself so Vincent could get away was great, why mess that up for a twist that only hinders the movie overall?
I hate how Velma had to step up and say that the 13 Ghosts are fake, this is what ruin the movie in my opinion, not to mention that they didn't show Scrappy. Those Ghosts are real and Velma is 100% wrong. Well waht's it called zombie island 2? If everyone say there are real monsters in it then i better go watch the original movie and wait for the next one to see how Velma will be WRONG!
Yea, I'm not a fan of how they wanted to have it both ways by keeping the possibility of there actually being ghosts. I let her stay smug and that's annoying. Hopefully zombie island leans into the supernatural more.
I did my own review on Wattpad, and with it I did a "what if Velma had opened up the chest at the ending," and what a continuing series for that would've been like. I was wondering if you could do your own review on what a series would be like, but here's my opinion: Someone else suggested that a series was still possible, as Flim Flam could visit the gang and Velma could open the chest then to make up for not doing it sooner. I suggested that the series would have Velma going through a lot of depression and guilt, starting with denial that ghosts aren't real. Flim Flam could eventually join the gang permenantly, all while reconnecting with his old friends, Scooby, Shaggy, and Velma, while bonding and gaining a special relationship with Fred and Velma. I thought Velma and Flim Flam could start out having a bit of a rivalry due to Flim Flam knowing more about the new van and other gadgetries than she does, with a bit of bitterness in there for a while, considering she might want to blame someone for her life falling apart, this time for real. But I also imagined Flim Flam and Velma would eventually patch things up, become partners in their talents, mentoring and helping each other with gadgetry and ghost catching, both opening up about their feelings and past. I also thought maybe Flim Flam and Velma would fall in love, giving her a permenant love interest, and that if he were to join the gang, his love for Velma would be the reason. So what's your opinion? Can you do a video with your own thoughts?
I remember watching the 13 ghosts of scooby doo when I was really really young. I loved it, I watched it like at least 20 times lol. I'm probably gonna re watch it soon
I think 13 Ghost needs it's own comic book series reboot, but with a much darker twist. I think this just me, because I have not seen this particular series for a long time, but I remember some of the episodes being very dark and messed up for a Scooby Doo series.
I don't know if you read it, but scooby doo apocalypse might be kinda close to what you want. It's a darker spin with actual monsters though the characters are a little weird. It's pretty enjoyable though
@@jamesfrank5417 In Scoobynatural the Mystery Gang didn't do much it was the Supernatural team who did most of the work, the Mystery Gang was being completely oblivious of everything, and being amateurs of what they're up against because of years of unmasking people in monster costumes all because of money, and ruining someone life, after they'd captured the ghost child, the Supernatural team lie to the Mystery Gang just so they can gain they confidences back and going back doing what they always do.
@@magnaknight9252 It was a good episode and the way you describe it you sound like you hated it. Scoobynatural is far better then Scooby Apocalypse which by the way turned me away from DC Comics forever.
@@magnaknight9252 Scoobynatural is good Scooby Apocalypse on the other hand. Left me deciding to never buy another DC Comic. That's how bad it was for me.
You know they couldn't fix the movie if they had actual magic ghosts and demons. Have the gang go to Vincent Van ghoul Thelma could be like there's no such thing as demons ghost but when she sees the two Lackey Ghost and The 13 Ghosts she'll be like I was wrong and then had Vincent van Gogh throw a spell at the 13 Ghosts he couldn't even brought back the partner he could have been like possessed by a demon or ghost so that mean he can open the chest and one last cool part make Shaggy or Daphne or even Scooby a wizard or flamm.
Who had the damn box? At first, it was supposed to be in King Soloman's Tomb but then it is in the Van Gogh Castle with the guy's ancestor. Also, how did Velma get carried off by a ski lift when she was in the middle of a street and how did Fred get carried if the line is supposed to be an incline and you can't tell me that the fog really covered the whole lift.
Would have made more sense if they used this movie to reintroduce scrappy, and make the live action movie canon to the main series. Like have the mystery gang, plus Von Ghoul and Flim Flam hit a snag in trying to find this last ghost on their own.. So they have to reunite with the only member not present.. Scrappy. In a pet themed prison of sorts. In the end revealing that the 13th ghost actually merged with scrappy, or scrappy and it were connected even before the box was open.. Like two pieces of the same being.
My thoughts to the movie plot is the ghosts are real. :p As Velma went on about ghosts and indeed magic being fake, but how did the orb light up and Vincent’s face appear at the beginning of the film when they were all nowhere near the Himalayas and its low oxygen readings?? Case closed! ;) Maybe Vincent had a WiFi Smart orb or something??? LOL
I literally learned this movie existed today, and i went to watch it just for the memories of my childhood, and i was like, all i wanted was to see the gang facing "fail masters" Bogel and Weerd but nopeee, that would prove the monsters/ghost were real... (i like the runing gag that they won't acknowledge Scrappy tho)
i hope a lot with this movie. 13 ghosts is one that i like ,but it has many thing i doesn't clear about this movie it will be better if 13th ghost is all real they should be linked it better to the story i hope it will have sequel or remake of this.
I refuse to let this be the end of the 13th ghost of scooby doo and I don't like this Velma. I want a proper supernatural conclusion preferably Daphne holding a scythe battling the monsters.😉
I actually don't know what to say about this film other than it wasn't perfect. The series "The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo" looked like a masterpiece (even with Scrappy in it). 1. There were small chase scenes 2. Flim Flam spend more time with Fred and Velma instead of Shaggy, Scooby, and Daphne 3. Not only was the 13th Ghost a fake but the real 13th ghost wasn't worth being a part of the main 13 4. Velma keeps believing that all monsters are fake, no matter how real they look (which makes my blood boil) 5. This felt like the start of where both the Scooby Gang and the cast of the Scooby Franchise are trying to revert back to their old ways (meaning the Where Are You physics)
I think WB should remake this film and make it a real sequel to The 13 Ghost series and ways to do that are. 1. Vincent having his magic. 2. The 13th ghost being real and not reformed so it staying 13 and not becoming 12. 3. Not having Velma being so over Skeptical and in denial because she wasn't in other films. 4. Having Bogel and Weerd in it 5. Scrappy finally returning or at least not having Fred and Velma look and talk like they've never met him because they have in other shows. With out this stuff the films almost a disgrace and joke to the The 13 ghosts series and the same goes with Return to Zombie Island. It's been way to long since they met real monster and we never see any of Scooby's relatives and family anymore and by it's just not the same or as much fun now so Warner Brothers should start having what the fans love about the series in the movies from now on.
Also have it as an alternate timeline from the current DTV movies so Shaphne could still be a thing and Scooby, Shaggy and Daphne are living with each other like the original show.
Imagine if the movie began with Velma finding the chest of demons and 13 ghost gang explain their adventures trying to recapture the ghosts. She's skeptical and obviously doesn't believe ghosts exist. So she tries to prove that by opening the chest, boom a giant fireball emerges, and ghosts are released once again. They decide to cause their mischief in Coolsville (or where ever they live) as revenger being trapped. Cue the crystal ball message from Vincent as he sensed the ghosts being released. Now, the gang has to capture the ghosts as the cause mayhem around town.
I hope it's just as dark as the first one and doesn't go down the direction where it's another fake. That's getting old and would definitely anger the fans. If they do it's better not to make one and just leave the first alone.
When I met my husband in the early 90s, he didn't understand why I liked Scooby. After smoking a joint, I convinced him to watch my tape of 13 Ghosts. Meta humor was BARELY a thing yet - and he was high to boot - so he was baffled (but laughing hysterically) when Scooby quit the gang, got replaced, and Ronald Reagan begged him to come back. He never questioned my love for Scooby-Doo again.
here is how I fixed this movie: bogel and weerd search earth for asmodeus but couldn't find him (for he was being Vincent guardian angle for was seeking redemption(see this actually happens the idea grew on me) unlike the other ghost) so they decided to find mystery inc to get the chest of demons and releases recapture. during their search they discovered mystery inc has done ghost chasing with fake ghost so they used that to their advantage they found Mortifer who was trapped in a ghost limbo by servants of 13 ghost in hopping to use him to open the chest possessed him and dressed him up as asmodeus to lure mystery inc into trap to get the chest(since it means daphne, shaggy, and scooby doo could finally lock the chest of demon forever) and to open the chest of demons rest of movie plays same(except grownup scrappy doo is featured who was visiting film flam) but when unmasking began its reveal of possession they escape with dazed mortifer but avalanche caused by both car and asmodeus stop them this act allow asmodeus to move on to afterlife to reunite with family and friends he longed reconnected and hope to seek forgiveness. bogel, weerd, mortifer due survive but bogel and werd flee the scene while mortifer still confused gets attack by the police. little inspiration from scooby doo movies like witches ghost, alien invaders, samurai sword where they have both real ghost and fake ghost and certain fanfics about 13 ghosts give credit where credit dued of course along few of mind ideas of course. so what do you think better than what he got right
I was happy with this film but I do feel like actually catching a 13th ghost would've been more satisfying. Also Flim Flam was still annoying in this but thank god he wasn't as bad as he was in the show. I love how they write Scrappy out of existence
This movie was some ole bullshit! I’m only 24 but I’ve followed every incarnation of Scooby-Doo for as long as I’ve been alive. I’ve never been a huge fan of “13 Ghosts” but I’ve always respected their then new direction. This movie only unravels all of that in all the wrong ways.
Love series 13 ghost, but way build this movie could be better. Should just showcase the characters in 13 ghost getting back together. Should done big build where finally 13 ghost put in chest for good.
Daphne Blake and Fred Jones Jr. and Velma Dinkley and Shaggy Rogers and Scooby Doo know that Mortifer Quinch's car turns into like as Christine the supernatural Plymouth Fury 1958 is possessed by her previous owner.
They should show the last two episodes of The 13 ghosts of Scooby Doo, this not what I was thinking about, Fred and Velma is stupid in this one. Do not get me started on return to zombie island that sucked too.
The fingers I hate this movie it ruins everything that would thing it’s like basically Scooby-Doo is 50 anniversary basically getting rid of every supernatural events we had from both TV shows and movies and this was the start of it. Wait until you see return to zombie Island that ruins it, so basically it just Velma showing up to be smug about it basically they just basically make her be to be a plot device and not even a good one just for her to say that everything that happened in a previous event all of it was a fake when literally the writers of these movie made Velma dislikable and basically gets worse in return to zombie Island, it just made Velma dislikable making her character thinking she does not believe in the supernatural when literally because it ruins the supernatural animal element just for her to think she know she’s always rightand that’s the stupidest idea ever when it comes to wooden Velma doesn’t always have to be right like she would willingly admit she is wrong in some points even she emits it so far curse this movie Velma’s dumb excuses basically ruins everything that happened in the series the 13 ghost I know 13 goes is not a good show but still everything that Velma says in this movie and returns the zombie Island basically ruins both the 13 ghost series and zombie Island movie it just makes Velma dislikable like the writers. Basically just wanna get rid of the supernatural stuff for stupid reasons Velma in this era I really starting to hate right now. She was good in the in the beginning all the way up to the 2010 mystery Inc series where she has struggled to not admit about the supernatural, but her mom did until she finally realizes that she doesn’t always have to know everything but here it’s like the writers, thinking the smartest person in the entire Scooby-Doo universe why she does not make mistakes she’s never wrong. This is basically just makes Velma being hateful like I’m being hateful for her because there were times when she believed in the supernatural but here she’s just now being smug, and basically believing the supernatural isn’t real, this is really make kids not believing in magic
I felt like this movie completely shit all over the series it was a conclusion to, Matthew Lillard's voice is clearly getting tired as Shaggy, and Fred acts completely out of character here....Velma not knowing who Scrappy is was a major continuity error. For everyone complaining about Velma, at least it wasn't shitting all over a series that it *concluded* .
i actually like this series because it deviated and had ghosts be real. didn't grow uo with it but I'm the right age to have caught some of the episodes on rerun....although i hayed scrappy snd probably changed it as soon as I saw him. Maurice LaMarche, plays Vincent in the movie and he's been a voice actor for over 40 years now? he reprised the role for mystery incorporated, byt he's the voice of brain from pinky and the brain, egon from animated ghost busters, and has done voices for og gi joe, Simpsons, Disney, rick & morty.... basically yiu name it he probs did something for them. anyhooo....i thought the story un the movie sucked. i didn't mind fred and velma joining but it wiped out everything that made the series different. ghosts aren't real. Vincent isn't a sorcerer even though in the series he transport's them several times and does other stuff that couldn't be faked in the universe created. but noooo they decided to make him hus modern incarnation as an actor... which works for mystery incorporated but not this. it just....it made for a bad series conclusion
I'm not a big fan of modern Velma. Back in the 90s films Velma was perfectly willing to abandon her skepticism when it was no longer logical. These days she won't acknowledge the existence of the paranormal when it's staring her in the face.
Yea, it's pretty crazy how far she goes to stay a skeptic. It's really grating at times.
@@StunClubSoda Stun Club Soda Stun Club Soda Stun Club Soda i rewatch all the 13 ghost of Scooby-Doo and watch the new Scooby-Doo mystery,
In the new Scooby Doo mystery, Fred and Velma have jobs that was the reason why they were not solved mystery with shaggy, Scooby, Daphne, Scrappy-Doo.
I think that is a Kate Micucci trope
I hope someday Velma meet's something she can't explain and get's knocked off her high horse
It did sadly.

Oof
This movie came first
I re watched the series just before watching the movie, And I was loving it till the last 5 min. It has poisoned my memory and nostalgia for the original series.
The two ghosts didn't appear and Scrappy was disrespected once again, 5/10
After re-watching the whole show again, I was fed up with those two "vilians",
Velma’s explanation are just plain stupid, it doesn’t even explain the other things that happened in the old series plus she doesn’t even debunk Vincent being a sorcerer which Daphne, Scooby, and Shaggy know that HE IS, I mean you can tell Daphne and Flim-Flam didn’t even buy her explanation at the end
Also, they caught ghosts ALL over the world not just the Himalayas!
But regardless, I’m just glad that Daphne, Shaggy and Scooby know that magic exist and that ghosts/demons exist
If Velma doesn’t wanna believe in it, that’s her problem
Btw there’s supposed to be a sequel to that KISS movie, so prepare for her to be skeptic again lol
Yea, those things were tripping me out too lol. And I didn't know they were making a sequel to the KISS one. I wanna see how that one turns out.
Velma was so obnoxious in this movie I wanted Daphne to kick her off the mountain.
@@littlebitsofterror5788 When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth
I know how you feel. I was disappointed about the movie to.
At least They didn’t 100% say that the original show was a lie like a certain other movie cough cough Zombie Island 2 cough cough
I'd say fire whoever wrougt this trash heap.
Fred and Velma were never at summer camp in the original show. They were absent because of their jobs as revealed in New Mysteries. The new movie is a lie. So many continuity errors.
YouDon't KnowSponge
Yes but WB ignores the real reason why they were absent because. People either over look, forgot or choose to forget about The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries. Which is sad I wish they didn't ignore that.
James Frank the worst part is The New Scooby Mysteries revealed Fred and Velma’s last name
Will N they corrected that in the same episode. By the end of Happy birthday Scooby Doo, they refer to him as Fred Jones
Welcome to retcon
What this movie was a complete wasted opportunity for a scrappy redemption arc and Velma and Fred were completely Debbie Downers through it.
They didn’t get sucked in they disappeared and abandoned Zimbalow, the 12th ghost as he was being sucked into the chest

Hopefully when they encounter a real ghost it will hit her square in the mouth
I’ll be honest I love 13 ghost, it’s cheesy, not that good, and just annoying at times but I love it none the less. I didn’t even know this movie existed and I’m glad it does since when I was growing up and had the series on dvd I use to always wonder why it ended so sudden with no satisfying ending. I’m actually rewatching the series on the same dvds I’ve had for years and had to look it up to see what people thought of it and if they shared the same opinions which is how I got here.
The original 13 ghosts has a certain charm that comes with cartoons from that time. It's definitely an enjoyable watch today because of that.
yeah and im actually ok with it being open ended cuz they can always go back to this
The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo was the last show that used the original theme song. Even if only in parts.
It all makes sense now. The 13th ghost was Scrappy.
Then how is it he was there when the box was opened
LOL That makes perfect sense to me
If only "the curse of the 13th ghost" movie was made in 1990s or 2000s, then the movie would be a different story. the gang seen real zombies, aliens, and a witch.
yeah the witch film was so cool
And a cyber ghost
kinda makes you wonder if they made Velma basically the director's mouthpiece that really disliked the source materials, 13 Ghosts and the first Zombie Island :/
This video is 3 years old....
And holy shit I felt that "I hope they don't X on Zombie Island's Sequel"
4:37 they were written as a couple according to Tom Ruegger
Yea, I remember reading that. Just kinda slipped my mind while recording. Though I gotta wonder why they did that.
I guess they just kinda assumed lol
@@SS-vs4lo
Agreed.
Especially when they caught the vast majority of them not in the Himalayans. How exactly does that work with the old ghosts.
@@dancorneanu9144 right?! Velma is so annoying in this movie I can’t stand her here
Wow; great point!

Kinda messed up that the flashback/intro sequence showing Daphne, Shaggy, Scooby, and Flim-Flam capturing the other ghosts didn't include Scrappy. He was an integral part of that show regardless of people disliking him (I didn't really have a problem with him).
You didn’t talk about Scrappy? He was my favourite and by the time of 13 ghosts was useful to the gang. Pity he was thrown under the bus again
I might have mentioned him briefly but it is pretty crazy how dirty they treated him.
Stun Club Soda I agree but, at least he had his big comeback in the Scooby Apocalypse comic series
@Miles Goodison-Fearon A lot of fans are still torn over Scrappy. I think logically the writers/fans should at least improve on the character if they despise him so much. Why hate a fictional character when you could fix their personality traits and flaws.
They should bring him back he not that bad, too bad he overhated big time.
Personally I want to enjoy the costumed crooks without having to worry that would be the only formula I would be getting from a Scooby-Doo plot til the day the series fades forever from time & history.

hmmm, guys hear me out here, the 13th ghost was there observing and decided not engage and let the other guy do his dirty work, the 13th ghost is out there gaining more power for sure, very strange flim flam and vincent parted way like that..flim flam knows something we don't know, remember the rules stated that whoever opened the box are to close it back when they capture all the ghost, the box probably didn't work with velma cause she was not the originally person who opened it!
plus we don'y know what the actual ghost was, so something else to think about, they go to college now, they are suppose to be adults, so my theory is that mystery incs timeline bleed into the old time creating confusion to everyone, cause flim flam is suppose to be an adult now won't he?

I like your analogy of Fred and Velma becoming the ' Scrappy ' of this movie. Also, the whole idea (and how it was pushed) of Fred being insecure because Daphne is the leader and then how he decides to be more supportive by being a cheerleader was cringe. Anyway, I could rant for a while but it is not going to help anyone is it!
@@Sandstormer9 until recently I never thought they were teenagers it really doesn't make sense.
It heavily relied on nostalgia and I was so disapointed lol
Also for this first time ever I actually hated Velma lol
on the fred whining about being leader thing
i honestly think daphne makes mroe sense to be leader with the modern personalities of the cast she is the normal one of the group after all and is theo ne who has a 1000 skills as needed for the plot fred is good at traps but he dont really work as a leader now in days
Does anyone feel that the new style of scooby doo movies put way to much emotion in there . It kinda kills it for me . I mean after mystery incorporated scooby doo movies in that style are filled with drama between the mystery inc crew. The characters act like they're some kinda soap opera and it's kinda annoying.
yeah with fred cheerleading and so on- fucking retarded
Daphne should have put on her 80's outfit.
100% agree. For once, can't someone just own the 80's fashion style without feeling shame or embarrassment. Not everybody looked ridiculously during the 80's. Also it would be a nice break from her usual fashion sense.
Yes she sooooo hot in that outfit too bad they didn't use it
Honestly the film would've been fine, perfectly fine, if they just hadn't decided to cram all those twists and back-pedal on Velma finally accepting that ghosts are real.
Where was weird and the other ghost. Those two ghost in every episode
@@StunClubSoda
I like the dark spin in the Supernatural crossover episode Scoobynatural. But I don't like Scooby Apocalypse.
@@magnaknight9252
It was a good episode and the way you describe it you sound like you hated it. Scoobynatural is far better then Scooby Apocalypse which by the way turned me away from DC Comics forever.
@@magnaknight9252
Scoobynatural is good Scooby Apocalypse on the other hand. Left me deciding to never buy another DC Comic. That's how bad it was for me.
Velma use to be my favorite character for most of my life, but she's just annoying in this film.
Modern day Velma became early X Files Dana Scully for some reason. All this evidence in her face and she just refuses to believe it.
She’s become an annoying skeptical egghead, she was better back then but now she sucks
I used to think Daphne was so hot when I was a kid😂
Who had the damn box? At first, it was supposed to be in King Soloman's Tomb but then it is in the Van Gogh Castle with the guy's ancestor. Also, how did Velma get carried off by a ski lift when she was in the middle of a street and how did Fred get carried if the line is supposed to be an incline and you can't tell me that the fog really covered the whole lift.
maybe the zombie island sequel will mention these events
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
Oh great Velma was "that" character...
Daphne was also tryin' to be a ghost.
What does' that even mean
@@vermiciosknid9629 maybe that she is distant from the probable character that she can exist as.
Wish scrappy was in it but then I found out he was put down I was angry asf
Would have made more sense if they used this movie to reintroduce scrappy, and make the live action movie canon to the main series.
Like have the mystery gang, plus Von Ghoul and Flim Flam hit a snag in trying to find this last ghost on their own..
So they have to reunite with the only member not present.. Scrappy.
In a pet themed prison of sorts.
In the end revealing that the 13th ghost actually merged with scrappy, or scrappy and it were connected even before the box was open..
Like two pieces of the same being.
My thoughts to the movie plot is the ghosts are real. :p
As Velma went on about ghosts and indeed magic being fake, but how did the orb light up and Vincent’s face appear at the beginning of the film when they were all nowhere near the Himalayas and its low oxygen readings?? Case closed! ;)
Maybe Vincent had a WiFi Smart orb or something??? LOL
And Velma sucks becase she almost ruined the thirteen ghosts
What did you expect from Velma because she doesn't even believe in the existence of The Funky Phantom
Yeah Velma back then was better, Velma today sucks, except in some stuff like the scoob movie
In my opinion (especially since 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo is my favorite Scooby series) Velma was lying, and the events of the series happened.
I actually don't know what to say about this film other than it wasn't perfect.
The series "The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo" looked like a masterpiece (even with Scrappy in it).
1. There were small chase scenes
2. Flim Flam spend more time with Fred and Velma instead of Shaggy, Scooby, and Daphne
3. Not only was the 13th Ghost a fake but the real 13th ghost wasn't worth being a part of the main 13
4. Velma keeps believing that all monsters are fake, no matter how real they look (which makes my blood boil)
4. Having Bogel and Weerd in it
I wish they had the actual 13th ghost and not a man in a mask I also think scrappy should have been there
I'm I the only one doesn't like this movie version of Velma?
vieira9117 literally nobody but the director likes his version of Velma
No you're not the only one trust me
Nope
We’re all hating on how Velma has become an annoying skeptical egghead
It can't be directly after cause Flim-Flam is much older
And the gang can't still be teens if Flim-Flam is older.
0:31 Hope they never do a Cyber Chase Sequel
Honestly Flim Flam was the only good thing in the movie even if he was only in it for less than 15 mins
The return of Vincent and Flim-Flam was the best thing about this movie. And yup, worst part the avalanch, why twice? XD
They better not debunk the zombies and werecats as fakes in Return to Zombie Island😤
I'm from the future they literally shit over Zombie Island
They are making a second scooby doo on zombie island. I'm not sure if I'm excited or happy I hope its good.
Yea, at this point I'm just hoping it's satisfying
I hope it's just as dark as the first one and doesn't go down the direction where it's another fake. That's getting old and would definitely anger the fans. If they do it's better not to make one and just leave the first alone.
I think this movie is an adjacent movie, that some of it continues the original Thirteen Ghosts, but then isn't quite a sequel.
How to take a potentaly good ending and screw it up.
here is how I fixed this movie: bogel and weerd search earth for asmodeus but couldn't find him (for he was being Vincent guardian angle for was seeking redemption(see this actually happens the idea grew on me) unlike the other ghost) so they decided to find mystery inc to get the chest of demons and releases recapture. during their search they discovered mystery inc has done ghost chasing with fake ghost so they used that to their advantage they found Mortifer who was trapped in a ghost limbo by servants of 13 ghost in hopping to use him to open the chest possessed him and dressed him up as asmodeus to lure mystery inc into trap to get the chest(since it means daphne, shaggy, and scooby doo could finally lock the chest of demon forever) and to open the chest of demons rest of movie plays same(except grownup scrappy doo is featured who was visiting film flam) but when unmasking began its reveal of possession they escape with dazed mortifer but avalanche caused by both car and asmodeus stop them this act allow asmodeus to move on to afterlife to reunite with family and friends he longed reconnected and hope to seek forgiveness. bogel, weerd, mortifer due survive but bogel and werd flee the scene while mortifer still confused gets attack by the police. little inspiration from scooby doo movies like witches ghost, alien invaders, samurai sword where they have both real ghost and fake ghost and certain fanfics about 13 ghosts give credit where credit dued of course along few of mind ideas of course. so what do you think better than what he got right
LMAOO Fred went to trappin academy FYTB 😎😂
I was happy with this film but I do feel like actually catching a 13th ghost would've been more satisfying. Also Flim Flam was still annoying in this but thank god he wasn't as bad as he was in the show. I love how they write Scrappy out of existence
2:29 was best song of that movie, im looking for it but i cant find it
Me and my shadow demon
The werecats are the thirteenth ghost.
The movie would've been the perfect time to bring in Scrappy.
Should have scrappy been in this what happened to him
12:39. They totally did. Such a disappointment
Holy Frick....they actually made the final episode?
Where can I download the 13 ghost of Scooby Doo series?
What I don't get is what's the point is calling Scooby-Doo in the 13 ghost is they never caught the last to ghost 🤔🤔
At the time I thought they did catch all 13 becase there were two monsters in the ship episode
my favorite part was the car chase as for the whole move id give it a 7
They should show the last two episodes of The 13 ghosts of Scooby Doo, this not what I was thinking about, Fred and Velma is stupid in this one. Do not get me started on return to zombie island that sucked too.
I should have made the movie more serious. At least make it to the nature of the actual show like you said before.
im excited for the zombie islnd sequel though im wondering why there going back there
Yea I'm banking on them going back because of some unfinished business or something
@@StunClubSoda maybe the cat creatures returned somehow
@@Ncholasbloom More like they're trying to profit off how great the original was.
What's A Scrappy?
FunFact: WB wouldn't/didn't want Flim-Flam or Scrappy to be used/mentioned
Nah, it was 12.
The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo and Zombie Island are my favorite Scooby shows/movies, along with Where Are You? This movie sounds like a disappointment.
i actually like this series because it deviated and had ghosts be real. didn't grow uo with it but I'm the right age to have caught some of the episodes on rerun....although i hayed scrappy snd probably changed it as soon as I saw him.
Scooby doo seriously copy and pasted Doctor Strange into a series 30 years ago and thought nobody would notice
how did you watch the 13 ghosts of scooby doo series? i've been trying to find it to watch for sooo long
I bought it on DVD 10 years ago.
