I mean... That was addressed in the video at least. Some clickbait isn't even part of videos. At least this clickbait was an established fact within his theory.
In Scooby Doo mystery Inc it's confirmed that Scooby is something close. In that reboot it said Scooby was once a vessel for some alien God and that's why he can talk
PART 2 So, quite a few problems with this theory, but I'll be focusing on two entries in particular to illustrate the problem: Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase, and Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated. Let's move on to Mystery Incorporated. Lets first address the many monsters at the museum. While it's easy to think they indicate that other iterations of the franchise happened in the same timeline as this, there's a problem with that thanks to one monster in particular: the Luna Ghost from the Live Action Scooby-Doo movie. That movie's introduction specifically involved the gang breaking up over long standing issues after the Luna Ghost's capture, a two year timeskip then occuring leading into the main events of the movie. While this WOULD fit with the reference to not speaking of Scrappy again since that was the movie Scrappy was the villain, the main problem is that the movie established the gang were firmly ADULTS at that point, being "twenty somethings", whereas the gang in Mystery Incorporated are still in High School, meaning the timeline doesn't match up. It's more likely that the ghosts in the museum are just references, monsters the gang unmasked in this universe, but under different circumstances. Something furthered with the debut episode of character Alice May, a mercenary who claims to be the daughter of the Creeper, and even has a flashback to a reanimated version of the Creeper's debut episode showing her as a little girl, but it's later revealed she made the whole thing up, a visual clue being the fact that Alice May is supposed to be THEIR age, yet the flashback would suggest she's much younger than them since they were the same age in it, and she fully expected the gang to realize she made it up, by which point she'd have long achieved her actual goal and escaped. The idea of there being only TWO timelines is also put in question by the final episode. At the end of the final episode in the "Perfect World", the gang receives a disc from the new "Mr. E", revealed to be Harlan Ellison. Yes, THAT Harlan Ellison. He reveals that, like them, he remembers the old timeline with the Nibiru Entity, stating he remembers ALL iterations of himself due to his study into alternate realities. He also makes clear that this is NOT the first time reality has reset, this is just the first one the gang can actually REMEMBER, implying the reason they remember is because of their actions in destroying the Entity. As a result, he reveals he's working as a professor at Miskatonic University, and has enrolled the gang in his class, telling them there's a lot more mystery to uncover and more meddling to do, and he wants to work with them now that he's not the only one who survived a reset. The gang decides to take him up on his offer, leaving Crystal Cove and going on a cross-country trip to Massachusetts. The fact Harlan Ellison states this is NOT the first time the universe reset would suggest that the connection between each series is that they are all different iterations of a time loop. While certain details may remain the same, such as certain monsters like the Creeper or details like Fred's love of traps, others are a lot more variable, like which town the gang grew up in, and whether there are supernatural elements readily apparent. So it's not TWO timelines, it's ONE timeline, trapped in an endless loop. There's some theory fodder for you: try to find out why the timeline is in an endless loop.
What are your thoughts on the end of Mystery Incorporated leading into the original show? I watched a theory that it made them have a cross country trip and along that trip they solved the mysteries of the original. That is also how they became famous so that it also leads to Zombie Island in which there could have been lingering/residual magic and the supernatural. But for how they were in the beginning of the movie I see it as them getting bored of the unmasking of the monsters and having their own dreams/ideals they wanted to do so they split up the team but unlike the Live action movie they left on more amicable terms.
Imagine watching 51 years worth of cartoons just to find out if a dog is an alien which will most likely get unconfirmed in a day. But seriously, matpat, i salute you.
Mattpat forgot about crystal, his ALIEN girlfriend. Shame on him for not memorizing every direct to video movie and it's implications on Shaggy's life.
also mat pat got some of this wrong not just talking about (Scoob!). it was also proven by the creators of mystery incorperated that it is a prequel to where are you hinted at by the laugh track at the end of MI. the idea is that in going to the college on the other side of the country they leave crystal cove and take a road trip solving mysteries along the way, which happens in where are you.
Problem: When the Scooby gang meet their doubles in 'Cyber Chase', they are freaked out by the different outfits, but the *reason* they're freaked out is because they say they used to dress like that "years ago" (with the exception of Scooby, who has a red collar in the game, something that I don't think he ever has in the series). They say that they told the game developer guy about their past adventures, suggesting that those adventures *did* take place in their timeline.
Actually, this probably does take place in a timeline where scrappy doo is real and they did encounter supernatural things along with people in masks, as there ARE masked bad guys, but they aren’t any that we see in show, and they moved on from mystery solving, implying that it’s way after that point, so it actually makes sense, because they had those outfits in the past and they seem neutral towards things such as, yknow, A WALKING TALKING COMPUTER VIRUS.
9:54 Ok, I can definitely agree that this was a turning point, this makes sense how the supernatural came to be in this show. Love this crossover. Although, the thing with how the ghost ended up in the show with them is not accurate, but I am happy that he’s keeping it spoiler safe for us.
*Me with my intense, vast knowledge of Scooby Doo and the cyber chase:* immediately after the gang meet themselves in cyberspace they make a point of the cyber-gang looking like the old looks the gang had. That is to say the red shaggy in the cyber chase movie was canonically inspired by when real life shaggy wore red. So shaggy is young when he wears red, and older when in green.
@Toby Parkin I was saying the same thing, and as someone who watched the funny but not so good most recent Internation of the scooby doo universe, it is not a direct or in any canonical continuation of the timeline because Fred’s dad in BCSD (Be Cool Scooby-Doo) has been in jail since Fred was 4 or 5 while the father and mayor dad of Fred in Mystery Inc. have been not in jail ever at the end of that shows timeline Sorry about the length of the post I ranted
While they were based on the old gang's wardrobe, it doesn't necessarily mean that the super natural stuff didn't take place in a digital universe, but he does need to explain that away.
@@31pyrex Not familiar with the show, but I think it's the talking dog that is still alive and healthy enough to run around after eating some many slices of pizzas. @@DoubleBoost23 Now that it is pointed out i honestly think it was, i'm jamaican and i can say in Jamaican and MANY other cultures it is common belief that the color red repels ghosts and evils spirits so we're taught to wear red shirts and accessories when dealing with certain things like funeral homes, abandon homes, etc. its a whole thing in various cultures for GENERATIONS, so writers of supernatural content could have added this very subtle hint to at very least tip those who paid attention off to the fact that the monster is infact real this time, i do love the cyberspace theory of this
“The editor was then properly sacked” The editors of the video hired to continue the work after the other people had been sacked, wish it to be known that they have just been sacked. The theory has been completed in an entirely different style at great expense and at the last minute.
The bit about Mystery incorporated doesn’t quite make sense, as at the end of that show the gang is hired to work for the new Mr E, but there is no mention of Mr E in ‘Be cool Scooby doo’
I never watched Mystery Incorporated, but did they have Scooby Snacks? Because a company names their treats after Scooby for helping them in Be Cool, creating them in that timeline.
In fact one final note: due to sharing the same parent company, Scooby Doo often crosses over with the DC Universe which in itself has gone through major reboots over the years that often have crazy in-universe explanations not unlike the Mystery Inc finale. So it’s entirely possible that the franchise takes place in the wider DC Multiverse explaining even minor stuff such as the sliding time scale that ensures that the gang stays in their late teens to early twenties or the fact that they have varying origins depending on the continuity not unlike mainstream comic books.
Each series may be showing events happening in different universes that are "very close" to each others. If we assume those are already sharing most of the same history & living people, then the small random changes between them may not be enough for the "divergence" in the path of each "worldline" to avoid the "fixed points in time" that would cause a constant "attraction of related causes" leading to a "convergence" of the "foregone conclusion" events. -> This allows for things like having simultaneous timeskips (a few days/week) inside many different episodes that [if you would count all of them] means more than 500 days had passed since "last year" [or even bigger numbers of days in total that would make the gang too old for highschool, for example]. Since the iteration of the gang that was present in the final episode of "Mystery Incorporated" seems to have "possesed" the brains of their dopplegangers in the new "Crystal" Universe; it is plausible that they may have also "merged" with other iterations (their memories being trapped on their subconcious, sometimes showing up in their dreams/nightmares); this would explain the monsters on the "museum" & the current non_existence of Scrappy [they still acknowledged "he WAS" once upon in another time].

Man, the Mystery Gang really upscaled on their mysteries, from simple unmaskings of some pranksters to fighting literal alien gods and being sent across multiverses
Canonically, it's technically a downgrade: at the end of Mystery Incorporated (SPOILERS) After the gang switches to the monster-free timeline, the gang decides to do a road-trip to a college they got a free-ride at (because a Professor there is AWARE they changed the timeline), solving mysteries along the way, now that they KNOW there aren't monsters, and it's heavily implied to be the origin of the original show. Or at least, when that universe's version of the original show occurs.
@@AllWIllFall2Me That makes so much sense now. I always thought the ending was just so that you could have your own ideas about how the series could continue, but the whole thing was actually a precursor to the original.
As a child of the 80's who has watched almost everything related to Scooby Doo I appreciate this theory. It does quite a bit towards explaining the inconsistencies throughout series and shows that the teams working on the newer series are trying to not only pay homage to the roots of the show but give fans some answers to long running questions.
Mystery Inc. Is by far the best show, Aside from 13 Ghosts. I grew up watching Scooby-Doo, So What's New Scooby-Doo and the orginal were always what I watched. I'm super glad you did a theory on this and hope you make more 🙂

I just wished the series "be cool scooby doo" didn't have the same cartoon style like family guy. If they kept the mystery incorporated style and have a over arching story then it would be good.
Honestly, I always thought when I saw pictures of the Scooby Gang in that style that it Was something from Family Guy. Considering that series obsession with random pop culture references, it's not unlikely that they'd make multiple appearances over the years. This is my first time hearing about Be Cool Scooby Doo. @@kayohwai Yeah I know, that's one of my favorite "fun facts". But Shaggy has explicitly eaten meat several times when not voiced by Kasem and since Matpat was looking at the entire Scooby-Doo franchise I was kind of hoping he might try to link those discrepancies to some wild theory for no good reason.
To be frank, Fred’s catchphrase is usually before the chase scenes start, so catchphrase would be “Alright gang, let’s catch that villain.”. Or let’s solve this mystery. The generic stuff that makes the episodes possible.
but in the cyber chase movie when they meet themselves, Velma and Daphne comment on how the characters are wearing the clothes they used to wear, and how the guy who programmed the game wasn't up to date on their new fashion. this means that shaggy canonically wore the red shirt outside of the video game, and the video game characters were created to reflect this. unless im missing something, the simulation timeline is invalid
@@CyberScribe01 I remember that the live-action movies (at least the first two before they started making live-action prequels) take place in Coolsville when they're adults who seem to have been out of school for quite a while (prolly ~mid 20's???)
PART 1 So, quite a few problems with this theory, but I'll be focusing on two entries in particular to illustrate the problem: Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase, and Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated. Let's start with Cyberchase. Part of the plot of Cyberchase is that the gang are visiting an old friend of theirs from High School, Eric Staufer, who has won a prize for the creation of a video game based on the gang, titled "Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase". The gang mention telling Eric about a lot of the mysteries they've solved in the past, which gets brought up when the Phantom Virus uses video game copies of several of the monsters the gang has faced in the past to help him on the last level in getting rid of the gang: specifically the Creeper, Jaguaro, Old Iron Face, Gator Ghoul, and the Tar Monster. Four monsters from the third iteration of the series, "The Scooby-Doo Show", and one from the first iteration of the series, "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!" This suggests the game itself was based off of actual mysteries Eric was told about and recreated, suggesting the real Shaggy in that movie did at point wear a red shirt. Not helping matters is that the virtual gang, Red Shirt Shaggy included, are all fully aware they are video game characters. It's why they're hanging out at the final Level rather than looking to solve it, they know if they do, they'll just be sent back to Level 1 for the game to start over again. The end even has the virtual gang sending a message to the real game in the physical word thanking them and saying goodbye, meaning they are fully aware they are just video game characters bordering on AI. Something not demonstrated in any of the Red Shirt Shaggy films. So I think we can officially debunk the "Virtual World" theory. As for Scrappy's absence, that's in Part 2.
Fun fact: In the whole of the "original timeline" before the events of the cross over with the TV show Supernatural the only thing not explained by elaborate tricks was a scene in Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!'s S1 Episode 3: Hassle in the Castle, in which Shaggy wished for a ham sandwich to calm his nerves, and then the sandwich appears floating, he then lifts up the top slice of bread and notices there isn't any mustard only for it to appear behind him also floating, and after he sits it down on a nearby table and wanting it to be cut in half does an ax in the hands of a set of armor that is standing behind the table fall down to perfectly cut the sandwich in half, after these scenes the sandwich and events are never mentioned, and in the scenes we can tell he isn't just seeing things since Scooby can also see the sandwich
I remember a little bit of that episode! And now that you mention, that is weird. but then again there was a lot of that sort of incidents going on in many of the episodes, mostly for the humor
@@roc1687 In the scene I don't think it showed Scooby acknowledge it, he just agrees with Shaggy that a sandwich would be nice, when the sandwich and other things appear its done showing only Shaggy's face, Scooby isn't shown until the sandwich is cut in half by the armor
MatPat, you should do a theory on what repercussions immortality would have on vocal cords. If you watch Hanna Barbera’s Groovie Goolies, Drac and Mummy sound ancient even though they’re technically immortal!

PART 2
So, quite a few problems with this theory, but I'll be focusing on two entries in particular to illustrate the problem: Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase, and Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated.
There's some theory fodder for you: try to find out why the timeline is in an endless loop.
what do you think of the Avocado animation? Could that be the reason the other timelines reset?

What are your thoughts on the end of Mystery Incorporated leading into the original show? I watched a theory that it made them have a cross country trip and along that trip they solved the mysteries of the original. That is also how they became famous so that it also leads to Zombie Island in which there could have been lingering/residual magic and the supernatural. But for how they were in the beginning of the movie I see it as them getting bored of the unmasking of the monsters and having their own dreams/ideals they wanted to do so they split up the team but unlike the Live action movie they left on more amicable terms.

*Me with my intense, vast knowledge of Scooby Doo and the cyber chase:* immediately after the gang meet themselves in cyberspace they make a point of the cyber-gang looking like the old looks the gang had. In fact one final note: due to sharing the same parent company, Scooby Doo often crosses over with the DC Universe which in itself has gone through major reboots over the years that often have crazy in-universe explanations not unlike the Mystery Inc finale. So it’s entirely possible that the franchise takes place in the wider DC Multiverse explaining even minor stuff such as the sliding time scale that ensures that the gang stays in their late teens to early twenties or the fact that they have varying origins depending on the continuity not unlike mainstream comic books.
dr manhattan let them be immortal

After the gang switches to the monster-free timeline, the gang decides to do a road-trip to a college they got a free-ride at (because a Professor there is AWARE they changed the timeline), solving mysteries along the way, now that they KNOW there aren't monsters, and it's heavily implied to be the origin of the original show. It still can be valid the person who created the simulation might make the alternate timeline based on how the gang looked before
PART 1
So, quite a few problems with this theory, but I'll be focusing on two entries in particular to illustrate the problem: Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase, and Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated.
Four monsters from the third iteration of the series, "The Scooby-Doo Show", and one from the first iteration of the series, "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!"
This suggests the game itself was based off of actual mysteries Eric was told about and recreated, suggesting the real Shaggy in that movie did at point wear a red shirt.
And can you explain part 2? Your theory is interesting

To be fair, Scooby also seeing something isn't always the best sign that it's real
@@roc1687 In the scene I don't think it showed Scooby acknowledge it, he just agrees with Shaggy that a sandwich would be nice, when the sandwich and other things appear its done showing only Shaggy's face, Scooby isn't shown until the sandwich is cut in half by the armor
SelfZin Makes sense.
Bit what If ultra instinct shaggy is Canon and itbused is Powers tô create a Han Sandwich
MatPat, you should do a theory on what repercussions immortality would have on vocal cords. If you watch Hanna Barbera’s Groovie Goolies, Drac and Mummy sound ancient even though they’re technically immortal!
As soon as he mentioned timelines I was begging to hear about the Supernatural crossover... My Chuck... That was an amazing episode with so much repercussions on the Scooby universe

People who watch Scooby Doo: “Uh.. he can talk?”
Scooby being an alien and the multiple timelines thing is actually deliberately in Mystery Incorporated.
sometime he dose sometimes whitj extra rrs amd sometimes not talking at all
I remember the Scooby Doo show from 90s when I was a kid and Scooby had a lot of cousins who had very over the top stereotypical mannerisms of the area they lived.
