Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated redefined the Scooby formula in a really fascinating way. Like the characters are actual people, the story is strange and interesting, and it's visually amazing! This is the coolest Scooby show I've ever seen, and I've seen a few! Let's take a look at it! FANS OF FRED, UNITE!

Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated was THE most slept on and misrepresented show when it was airing but I remember VERY well watching this show and loving it when I was a kid and it STILL holds up.

At least they came back to life after the timeline change at the series finale
Lisa Galvan that’s what I didn’t like about the series.
Right? I remember watching it and going. "They killed someone. They actually killed someone again on Scooby Doo! On CN! In the evening! Wtf is happening here?"

So the ending of Mystery INC is the beginning of “where are you”, and that’s why we never see them at school and never see their parents
Your right, mystery incorporated is basically a prequel to the main original Scooby Doo time Line from 1969 to the mid 1980s
I think it functions as a sequel and a prequel. At the start, they've already caught all their classic villians but then when the timey-wimey bit happens in the last episode, they head out to do it all over again.
Noah Terranova that’s the interpretation I took away from the ending. Their adventures both continue from the aftermath of their battle, but also begin from where we were first introduced to the gang.
But what about Miner 49er, space kook etc

Xenoh I put a few hours into looking into all that and they were in the start of creating a 3rd season but Cartoon Network wouldn’t let them carry on with it. Which is quite stupid in my opinion

There’s an episode on season 3 where she’s actually in the intro with the gang. It’s kinda funny
Rachel Torres I believe you mean season 2. And yes she took over for daphne for a bit when the gang was first getting back together and she was with the movie start guy
Outlaw Gaming I’m super confused. I’m watching it on Boomerang and that episode is one of the first ones in season / volume 3.
When I saw it on Netflix there was only 2 seasons and it ended with all
Of them separating.
You are watching season one if they are all separating then. Because the end of the series does not end like that
It's funny how much of a masterpiece this show is. Considering how things like Gravity Falls have a cult fanbase now, I'm surprised nobody remembers this one.
I know you posted this a year ago. But, the new "Velma" mess might boomerang back to having people take a second look at Mystery Inc. Mystery Inc is the serious teen-adult Scooby Doo series that Velma claims to be and fails at horribly at every turn.
@@WilliamAGould I’m literally watching for that reason
As much as I loved Gravity falls, I hated Mystery incorporated, both as a kid and now as an adult; it just felt too dark and to different from what Scooby-Doo was supposed to be like in my head, it felt like a lot of characters just disliked each other. Michael Pham Agreed though
HELLO! That one episode with Daphne in her sleepwear!
Park ChimMin yeah that one too
Literally what I got from the first episode. Like jeebus Velma needed a chill pill from how angry she was getting when she got cockblocked by Scooby, and was really trying to throw herself at Shaggy who kept dodging.
I remember watching the episode where shaggy and Daphne kissed and I LITERALLY COULDNT COMPREHEND SEEING IT. there was nothing wrong with it but for so long in the shows history it’s always been Fred and Daphne so seeing these characters do things my brain wouldn’t dare correspond with basic Scooby doo stuff was insanely huge to me
What's really funny is in the whole series there's more hints to shaggy and Daphne being a couple since the start from wearing eachothers colors (Fred and Velma so this too) to Daphne knowing stuff about shaggy noone else had. Plus you have that one series were it was just the two of them with Scooby and crappy and that one kid
Wait they kissed?! I have to watch this series in full because wtf?! Now that is definitely putting a new spin in the relationships in this show.
thgritic102 I remember. It was just brain trickery, daphne thought she was kissing Fred and shaggy thought he was kissing Velma. Still wack tho
A-A-Ron no, in the episode, shaggy said he thought he was actually fred. the entire episode was super trippy
drowsiella oh ok. It’s been like 5 years or something since I’ve seen it 😂
The fact that I cried at scooby doo and a character called "hot dog water" is the part that amzed me the most.
I feel that the character who was changed the most in terms of personality was Fred. In the older shows, he was mainly the leader and that was about it. I like how mystery incorporated gave him a fascination with traps as well as making him almost completely oblivious to Daphne’s interest in him. It honestly made him a much more interesting and funny character.
Professor Pericles *owns* a spot on my top villains list.
I hate him so much but really appreciate him as a villain. I cannot tell you how many times I yelled, "JUST SHOOT THE BIRD," in my head while watching.

Looking back on it now I really want to see a continuation of this series or a new series which had the same serious tone.

Fred's story in this series was surprisingly tragic. His narcissistic father was more interested in tourism profits than raising his son. Then after Fred has to unmask his father, Fred learns that he was actually adopted as a ploy against his biological mother and father, who are still alive. And when Fred starts digging into his biological parents, he finds out that they are actually much worse than the father who raised him, realizing later that they were corrupted by an artifact. His birth parents go so far as to get plastic surgery as a way to trick Fred into giving them the artifact, later dropping all pretenses and go after Fred in an attempt to kill him, helping an eldritch beast kill one of his school friends when she tries to protect the current Mystery, Inc. His birth parents are eaten in their corrupted state by the beast when they pledge their service to it. Before Fred's adopted father is also eaten, a dream world version (but more or less a genuine copy) apologizes to Fred and admits that even though he didn't adopt him for the right reasons, he still considers him his son. (Did I mention that Fred had to watch all three die?) Then when the corrupting artifact is destroyed, it resets the timeline as though it never existed, with only the current Mystery, Inc. remembering. In the new timeline, Fred's birth parents are uncorrupted and happily raising him, while his adopted father doesn't remember raising Fred at all, only saying that he wished he had kids. Did Fred steal the writers' waifu or something??

Ah yes, I too remember the comic where Scrappy became buff and also James Todd.
those comics suck lol, he stereotyped the fuck out of every character to the point of caricature without any of the deep characterization and humour this show had while still being mature. also those comics killed Fred and made him a zombie and it was the dumbest thing ever
"Mystery Incorporated" was a very intriguing take on the franchise, and for the most part it worked. A lot of the characters interactions were interesting, Pericles was a fascinating villain, the overarching story and dark tone were captivating, and the countless references to previous installments and other Hanna-Barbera shows were a real treat (especially in 'Mystery Solvers State Club Finals').
The only major things that bothered me were Velma in the first dozen or so episodes and the cynicism in some parts. Velma seemed too unlikable when she urged her relationship with Shaggy, especially in the episode where that Terminator-dog framed Scooby. Luckily, by the second half of Season 1, she really began to improve and became a more sympathetic character from there on out.
With that aside, MI is still worth checking out.
Yeah, I didn't liked the whole Velma x Shaggy plot, made Velma look very douchey and unlikable
and THAT is a sign of character development my friend. I do find that her emotions for Shaggy than his for her and her attitude a bit too cynical. She was a bit too much but began to mellow out by season 2.
I find it sign of character development when you see a change- in Velma's case for the better.
I do appreciate this comment. It shows you really appreciate all aspects of this series.
It kind of makes sense why it didn't work. Velma isn't really into guys in general in the show, she's written as a lesbian, but when the society is so heteronormative around you you feel like you're "supposed" to be into guys. She didn't really like Shaggy in the way she thought she did but she didn't really know what it was supposed to feel like and she just guessed her feelings wrong, and she was trying to "fix" him in the hopes that maybe that'd help spark some stronger feelings for him but it just wasn't gonna happen. Shaggy choosing Scooby over her is probably one of the best things he ever did for her long term.
@@pumpkinpartysystem X2: Wolverine's Revenge video game was a very intriguing take on the X-Men franchise (especially the 1992 animated series), and for the most part it worked. Sabretooth was a fascinating villain/boss, the story and dark tone were captivating (where Wolverine must find a cure for Shiva Virus before he dies).
The only major things that bothered me is the extremely hard difficulty. To beat Magneto in a boss fight, you have to use one particular attack from one particular spot (while dodging the wide and painful arrangement of things he'll send flying your way) to knock him down and beat the crap out of him. If that wasn't bad enough, you're on a clock - beat him before he gets his power-dampening collar off and instantly murders you. And to make it worse, he's not even the final boss. If there was ever a time and place to use the built-in Invincibility code, now would be it.

Okay I absolutely LOVE Mystery Incorporated. It's *everything* I could have ever wanted for a Scooby-Doo series. A proper, story-driven series with real mystery, with the Scooby franchise thrown in? Perfect. And it's obvious that they loved the source material. It has hints and references and easter eggs to just about every major (and even minor) part of all the past series. Hell, it even has loving references and cameos from other classic shows from the time, not including the amazing fever dream episode. When I saw Johnny Test, Dino-Mutt, etc. I went crazy. True beauty. It even had some OP Shaggy Meme moments. I could go on and on about how much I love this series.
I really hope we get another story-based series like Mystery Incorporated some time in the future. But it would be hard, because MI used material from the entire franchise, and they can't use anything from it because the MI story is finished. They'll have to build up an entire world from scratch again. But, it's been done before and even some of the other series have minor aspects of continuity, so it's not impossible.
I always loved Scooby-Doo, but the episodic nature of it all and "The Formula" always turned me off a tiny bit. So I'll be looking forward to the next series that is in the same style as MI.

The episode of that old dude living in his underground house, the episode where Angel Dynamite was left in that underwater city, and the big finale definitely contributed to some of my fears as an adult, but I don’t want to think about that for too long.
I LOVE THIS SERIES, but when hey announced the new series for scooby doo and I watched the first episode I was so disappointed, it completely stripped everything from the characters and added weird tropes for the characters to "revamp them", seeing the end of mystery inc I really want a sequel…
This show was by favorite version of scooby doo made me love velma even more
the music though! the theme song is so good & the locket lullaby is so memorable. i had the little locket song stuck in my head forever as a kid
just gonna point out in one of the mystery incorporated movies, fred simps for the mystery machine and keeps having flashbacks to the exact moment it explodes
"Raid Shadow Legends"
Let me introduce you to the right arrow key
Hands my favorite part of the show would be the fact that the couple of Brenda and Dylan were not attacked once but twice and then the third time 🤣🤣🤣
I remember when mystery inc. was on TV. I was a small kid and it scared me. Now I think it's great because of the connections.
Bruh Mystery Inc still gives me chills to this day ngl
This show was a great part of my childhood.
Feel like those other 2 season mystery shows he’s talking about is gravity falls
Binged this at the same time as a friend about a year ago, we absolutely LOST our minds. Its so good and idk why.
Ngl youre opening and even ad right the beginning was exquisite, im subbing righy now
waiting for the daphne outfit or what i assume will be a scooby kigurumi.
This has nothing to do with scooby-doo (though mystery incorporated was my favorite), but does anyone remember sym-bionic titans? It was on cartoon network for a minute and then they just canceled it on a cliffhanger :/. That show absolutely slapped
Same, apparently the show was cancelled because they couldn't sell toys, which sucks. I remember watching that show, Generator Rex, and Ben 10 every week.
Sym bionic titan breaks my fuking heart.... wish theyd at least make a comic or something
That was such a beautiful show, too bad, the toy sales are correct, Cartoon Network has always been about the money, in hindsight if I knew this then I would’ve bought the damn store out just to keep it afloat.
At least it got representation on that forgotten cartoon network game from the late 2000s.
@Parker Brown talking to me?
You've hit the nail on the head. Before it was quite a shallow show where the characters had nuonces like their phrases or specialities when it came to mystery solving but no real character development. As a result, as a kid (in the "whats nee scooby doo? era) I didn't mind the show but it didn't leave me caring too much in the end. Having watched a load of clips on RUclips of Mystery Inc I'm amazed at the transformation and maturity it brought. It seems like a show I could watch and enjoy even as an adult. I especially loved the way a character like Daphne was done. Her design was best iteration I've seen and really captured who she was in the series, an attractive young woman who was constantly ignored by Fred even though she would be a catch for most people. It gave relevance to a character the was just there really in older series. There were actual arcs and consequences in the plots and was overall just quite mature. The way characters interacted was interesting too. It just felt wholesome and noteworthy. Definitely THE BEST iteration of Scooby Doo I've seen.
This was so deep , I wish it never ended
Me when I saw this “Yeeees I LOVE SCOOBY-DOO MYSTERY INCORPORATED
One of my favourite ways to describe the tone of the show is to bring up the gluten episode. The main plot is a really silly story, even for Scooby Doo. But then you get to the last few minutes where a man is TORTURED BY HIS FORMER BEST FRIEND. This show is fucked up and I love it so, so much.
Can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched It. So good. Easily the most underrated take on Scooby-Doo.
When I was younger, I remember trying to be up at 9am to watch it Saturday morning, Mystery Incorporated was my favorite series, never missed 1 episode, my favourite monster was Scarebear, can't believe it's almost 11 years!!! Since it came out
Huzzah! A review for _Mystery Inc!_ I remember looking for some 2 years ago or so along with reviews of other underrated shows like _Detentionaire_ but finding barely anything. I’m glad to see more stuff covering it now!
I often describe it as _Gravity Falls_ before _Gravity Falls._
It doesn’t mean _Gravity Falls_ copied _Mystery Inc_ at all; just that they share similarities and if you like the former, you’ll probably enjoy the latter. 👌
>It doesn’t mean Gravity Falls copied Mystery Inc at all
I mean, it DOES have some suspicious similarities... :P I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.
The Planispheric Disk pieces are kinda like the Three Journals.
Mayor Jones is kinda like Grunkle Stan.
Mr. E is kinda like the Author.
Nibiru is kinda like Weirdmageddon.
@@ThePreciseClimber I mean, you can certainly go that route, but it's up to interpretation. I mostly said it that way because I want to promote the show, and implying anything could make _Gravity Falls_ fans upset because people are like that.
If you want a side-by-side comparison of _all_ the similarities they share (and there _are_ a lot), you can take a look at this chart: ultraericthered.tumblr.com/post/149105292340/which-one-am-i-talking-about-the-correct-answer
When this version came out, I hadn’t seen a dark tone to the series since 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo and the movies and specials that had supernatural plots to them. But this one was way darker and had higher stakes involved.
They need to bring this show back. It's amazing.
I've been watching Scooby-Doo since I was a toddler, I watched pretty much the entirety of the very first series. Anything that was related to it, I watched it because I'd love it.
It's what started my obsession with murder mysteries/criminal related tv shows and books.
The only things that was shaky to me was having Scrappy-Doo on shows, the 13 Ghosts series was also odd to me, and the very recent series that's gone overboard goofy with no adventurous dark elements is a rough watch.
Mystery Incorporated is hands down the most gripping series that was made, and I was absolutely gutted that they didn't continue it in some way or another. The visuals were brilliant, the storyline was brilliantly executed, and developing the characters the way they did was amazing. It was the best revival of the franchise by a long shot.
The Scooby doo show that was unique tje shoe with a lot of plot twist , the show that developed the relationship of shaggy vilma and fred and daphne and the special episode horing the Hana Barbera creations
Also there was a yogi bear cameo as Hannibal lector
Mystery incorporated has the best character and bg designs ever, granted, I too want more in Scooby stuff that is good and changes it up every now and then.
Has anyone ever told you that you look like Velma when you’re dressed in orange with a pair of glasses ?
This series killed me on multiple occasions with its twists, plots, deaths, mysteries and that damn finale. Really changed my perspective on the whole Scooby Franchise
I enjoyed Mystery Incorporated. I thought it was well written and developed. I'd love to see you do a video about Shaggy and Scooby Doo Get a Clue. For some reason I enkoyed that as well
"And it's the show that's responsible for wending me down this Scooby Doo rabbit hole that I'm desperately ready to get out of"...but he never shall.
I just binge watched it all on netflix i think it held up pretty well.
