- Not happy with the 10-round capacity of the .22 caliber Glock 44 mags? ProMag now makes an 18-round mag for the G44. Are they any good? Does it make the G44 equal to the Taurus TX22? We'll let you know in this video.
(This is NOT a paid promotion. I paid full price for both ProMags.)

I bought 2 of these. Had issues at first but keeping the mags loaded to full capacity for 2 weeks really helped loosen the spring and make them reliable
I'm glad that worked for you. Thanks for commenting.
That spring is no joke. I was loading mine and just holding it down the thing partially removed part of my thumb nail.
MiniMags are the only 22lr rounds I shoot in all my 22s. No jams with CCI, don’t shoot lead rounds, they will jam every time you go shooting.
Thanks for watching and adding your thoughts.
With the glock mags always hold them upside down .. pull assist tabs and gently shake til all rounds angle to match feed lips then let tabs go.. it works
That may work, but one shouldn't have to go to that length to get a gun and mag to work properly. Thanks for watching.
I took a dremel to my glock magazines 6 to be exact. Got rid of the rimfire groove molded at the top of the magazine. Problem solved no more mis-feeds will cycle no problems anymore
Mac, I'll have to look into that. Thanks.
ProMag looks nice! Typically when I’m just plinking with 22lr, I try to shoot accurately at longer ranges.
I personally don’t have a problem with the 10 round Glock magazines because I usually take my time at the range anyway. Just like I do with my Ruger Wrangler. Nice video!
Thank you for watching.
Pro mag needs larger pull down tabs. Otherwise nice mags
Promag makes a 25rd mag now. I'm waiting on mine to arrive. I polished the top of the feed ramp on my g44 barrel and it helped mine alot.
It'll be interesting to see ow the 25-round mags perform.
@@RidersRange mines working real well. I can actually get 28 rounds in mine. I had to unload it and reload it just to be sure. I bought a collar on ebay that goes around the pmags to help load them 12 bucks and worth every penny
Glock: It fires a .40 so we'll call it the 22. We have a .22 it's called the 44. We also have a .45 and that's the 21 but to avoid any confusion the 10mm is the 20 and the 9mm is the 19..
Glock makes up their model numbers while playing bingo on crack...
Flaming Hedgehog, ahh yes - the wonderful Glock numbering system.
Glock names their guns after the patent for that design. The glock 17 was the 17th patent. The glock 44 was the 44th patent, so on and so forth.
@@OTG_Zulu Righto, thanks for explaining that, I didn't know. That still doesn't make it any less retarded tho. 🤣
Crazy
My TX has been perfect so far. Just got a mag extension for it from Galloway Precision. It's a plus 3 to make it 19 but so far I get 20 in them. But I am not dogging the G44 I will get one of them also. Hope you get the pro mag working that will be a win win if you do.
Scott, after my experience with the TX22, if I actually owned one, that would be my go-to and the G44 would sit in the safe.
Could you take the spring out of the Glock and replace it into the ProMag?
Thanks for Sharing (As Always!)! 👍👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Frank, thanks for commenting (As Always).
I OWN A GLOCK 44
NO PROBLEM AS LONG I USE HIGH VELOSITY BULLET
CCI STINGER THE HIGHPER VELOSITY.
ARMSCOR HIGH VEL
IS ALSO GUN MY GUN. GLOCK44 WELL JAM ON ANY STANDARD VEL IM HAPPY THAT PROMAG HAS 18ROUND MAG ALREADY
Pancho, thanks for watching and adding your thoughts. I just tested several guns with the new Federal .22 Punch ammo and compared it side-by-side with CCI Standard Velocity rounds and the G44 ran both ammo types just fine out of the ProMags. (Video coming out in the near future.)
But the price of the Glock is still one on the BIG issues and I can NOW shoot 21 rounds in my Taurus thanks to Taurus (16) and TK (Tandem Kross) adds 5. Yeppers...and 1/2 the cost of the dang Glock !!!! Plus the Taurus shoots anything/everything.
God Bless
Lee, I agree. So far, the TX22 is far ahead of the G44.
I’m a Glock guy 100%. But I have a Taurus TX22 and it is by far my favorite 22 pistol. I’ve shot thousands of rounds through it with no problems other than the occasional dud you get every now and then.
@@Jeffisright I sold my Glock 44 shortly after they came out.
I recently bought another one after hearing of the improved reliability & it is absolutely true.
I ran 500 rounds of really old Federal Bulk with no issues.
That was after running a couple boxes of Stingers, 2 sleeves of Mini-Mags & 2 boxes of Aguila Super Extra.
TX-22 & Sig P-250 both commonly have failures with that ammo ( those 2 were previously my best .22s).
I would say my Glock 44 has surpassed my TX-22 as my best .22LR semi auto.
It was also only ~$50 more than the Taurus is currently on offer for.

How well do the ProMags work when loaded to 15 rounds?
Also, you might look into complete demonetization on RUclips and being viewer funded via a medium like Patreon.
Joe_K, I had the occasional failure to feed from the Pro Mags even when downloaded to 10 rounds. However, they weren't any more or less frequent than fully loaded, though my experimenting with them has been limited.
It really makes you wonder sometimes if manufacturers (like Glock & Pro Mag) have anyone from outside the design team look at their creations before they run with it? Glock - 10 rounds. Pro Mag - too small assist buttons and too strong a spring. Mostly brilliant people then they swing and a miss on some basic stuff.
Makes me wonder if field "beta" testing is a thing of the past. Maybe the bean counters said it isn't worth it.
I'll stick with my TX 22.
Mike, I agree.
I will just stick with my Browning Buck Mark Target bull's-eye in 7 1/2 inch barrel. It eats any 22 lr Ammo.
Jerry, I love my Buck Mark (see our recent video on that gun), but the Browning and the Glock are in different classes for different purposes.
Would this promag 18 rounder work in a Glock 17 with a 22LR conversion kit or is the magazine too short? Is it the same dimensions length wise as a Glock 19 / Glock 44 magazine? I know they make a promag 25 round Glock 44 mag, that works in the Glock 17 with conversion kit, the magazine just sticks out like an extended one.
Great review!
Jonathan, so far they have worked okay, but there are many reviews that have mixed result. Once I get more time with these, I'll have to do a follow-up.
I bought three and they are hard to load. The pull down tab needs to be redesigned. I would not recommend them as they are now.
Nicholas, I have to wonder who at ProMag decided on small buttons and that strong spring. I hope they come out with a Version 2 that corrects those issues.
Thanks for all this demo. I'm a bit confused though on the mags. In my head I'm trying to weed out critique of the gun and critique of ammunition. I'm simply trying to get a sense of the ProMag. Specifically, aside from capacity and loading difficulty, how did it compare to the Glock magazine in feeding/firing operation. Better, worse, about the same, hard to tell?
John, thanks for watching and for commenting. I need to spend more time on the range with the ProMags in the G44, but so far, they seem to be just about as reliable as the Glock mags. I have seen reviews that say they run better once "broken in", but I've seen other reviews that have problems with one or more mags. It looks like the ProMags are hit or miss, but I am satisfied with their reliability so far.
I've always heard good and bad with ProMags, but 22's are prone to some problems anyhow.
treesablowin, so far, these seem to be on par with the 10-round Glock mags for reliability, but not quite up to Taurus TX22 standards.
Seems like they need to be loaded just right.. I had to tap each round as I was loading it to make sure it was loaded properly
Henry, they do seem to be sensitive to loading technique. I let the follower up fully after loading each round and that seems to work okay.
@@RidersRange it should not be that difficult. I may just get several Glock 10-rounders
Does the promag suffer from the same sensitivity to loading problems, like the stock glock 44 mags? Does this resolve it? I only get failures with the G44 if I don't turn the mag upside down and shake it.
For stiff springs, try storing it fully loaded for a while. It will break the springs in faster.
Matt, thanks for watching and commenting. I haven't found the loading technique to be an issue with the Pro Mags. As to breaking in the mag spring, just keeping it loaded doesn't do much, as a spring only "breaks in" when it is exercised. That means load, shoot, repeat. 😎
Now that’s cool!
Gay Bear, cool, but still not quite up to the standard of the Taurus TX22.
@@RidersRange it cool because they are trying.. mabey wake up glock to step it up
Stay away from any Aguila ammo. Worst experience in the 3 different calibers I’ve tried
I agree. I finally gave up on Agulia. Thanks for watching.
CCI mini mag better ammo
TURBO BILL, the G44 does seem to like the Mini-Mags and the Stingers (Stangers for 22 Plinkster).
I bought six of these pro mags. They are absolutely shit!! They jammed constantly. My G44 with the factory mags had one failure to feed in the 650 rounds I’ve put through it before trying the new promags.
The reviews seem to be hit or miss with the G44 Pro Mags.
That sounds more like promag... I'll probably wait to get larger mags until someone else makes them. It's almost like promag doesn't even care if their shit works.
I feel like it would’ve been much smoother feeding if it had the same single stack design as the 43 and 48. Especially considering the size of a .22
Could be. Thanks for watching.
Can I change the butt plate on these to the extended
Good question. I'm guessing you could, but I haven't tried it.
@RidersRange it's ok I watched a few videos on the 18 round magazine and it looks nearly identical to the stock. I'm put my order in for the mags and but plate extension. Going to do review soon
Where can I buy the 18 rnd promag
They are listed on several on-line sites, but only Grabagun shows them in stock as of this afternoon..
Are they a good safe place to order?
I’ve ordered from Grabagun and haven’t had any issues.
@@RidersRange thanks bro guess I'm gonna "pull the trigger" lol
I bought one. It's a piece of $hit. After loading 10rds its difficult to load the extra 8rds. It isn't a practical mag. It's a pos.
Hmmm.....I have to wonder if you got a bad mag.
These mags are absolute garbage. I bought 3 and they jam so bad and the spring gets hung up with no retention. Stick with the stock mags
Jason, from the reports I have seen and read it appears that the ProMags are hit or miss - some are good, some aren't.
These things are junk. I bought 4. Every mag experienced multiple FTL issues. Do not buy.
Dr DO, I have read mixed reports on these. So far, mine work okay, though I'm not sure I would like to depend on them in a serious social encounter. I just bought a couple of ProMags for my Canik TP9 SFX. I'll be doing a report on them in the near future.
I think I would buy 2 more Glock mags and have 4 loaded and ready to go, it doesn't take long to do a mag change, or is everyone in a big hurry?
More time shooting, less time swapping mags. And yes, it seems that lots of folks are in a hurry to shoot up lots of ammo, even at today's prices. Thanks for watching and commenting.
It worx but it sucks loading. Poor but ok
Thanks for watching.
