I have put 1500+ rds of 38g & 40g 1200+fps ammo through it. I have had exactly 5 FTF, usually on 2nd round. Is it as good as a Ruger? No. But for a semi-auto rimfire, I consider it very good. I have had no reservations since my purchase. Thank you once again Paul for an excellent presentation.

Personally, I'm happy with my Glock 44. After 2900 rounds I have had 12 failures, mostly failures to fire. Federal American Eagle 38-grain copper-plated rounds and CCI Mini-Mags have run flawlessly. Winchester M22 rounds are pretty good also. Browning 40-grain rounds have had the most failures. I have noticed that it is important after loading a magazine to lessen the spring tension and give the magazine a firm tap on the rim side to make sure all 10 rounds are properly oriented. It is especially important that the top round is parallel with the top of the magazine.

Hi Paul, I'm getting close to a couple thousand rounds through mine. Its just now starting to be ammo / user friendly. At first its favorite was Federal Auto match @ about 97% success. . Hollow points would not feed period. To this day Federal American Eagle fails to extract on Every round. Winchester White box hollow points now run 100% . As with yours thunderbolts run 96% . The common failure I have is a Fail to fire. Click no bang. However every round that has done that when reinserted into the chamber will go bang. I took it to a couple of GSSF matches this year and luckily it ran 100% I changed out the sights to Fibre optics and installed a Minus connector. Nice smooth 3LB trigger.. Its really a joy to shoot. Update us when you get to a couple thousand rounds.

Hi, I've got 8000 plus rounds through our G44. You had more malfunctions on camera than we have in 8k, and my wife was very disappointed. She loves the pistol.
We have had over a dozen failure to fires, which we retried and four of them functioned when hit on another part of the rim.
The others were total duds. The pistol puts a very hard rectangular ding in the rim, bending it farther than my other half dozen twenty two firearms.
Failure to load has happened a half dozen times. It seems to be caused by the magazine not 'truing' the top round, something like the way Kahr nine millimeter pistols fail to feed that top round if it's not set perfectly.
Always be sure the top round is at the right angle, not tipped down.
I use a cheap printed loader and it loads much easier than pulling down on the nubs, it doesn't hurt your fingers to load four hundred rounds.
It also allows you to shake and true up the ammo in the magazine.
We use four magazines and I've noticed no difference in them.
Gun always locks back on the last round.
My sights are dead on at 30 feet so I have no experience at changing the sights.
The gun loves cheap Armscor hollow points. It likes 40 grain Aguila but it's not as accurate, still easy to shot ten into a 2 inch dot.
Winchester Federal 36 grain hollow points are about the same as Aguila.
All function fine normally. That means than in three or four hundred rounds we might get a dud, we might not.
    Ejection is perfect.
I've cleaned the pistol four times total. I try to do it every two or three thousand rounds as it gets gritty inside., that's obviously the cheap ammo.
My reliability with this gun is on par with my first model bull barrel Ruger. The bull barrel is more accurate, but it has a 2 lb pull, custom grips, etc. The Glock is out of the box for the first thousand, then I put in a Ghost trigger bar. Not much difference.
It is vastly better than my S&W Compact 22, which I could not recommend, sorry, the Smith is cheap and shoddy. I've had to replace parts and it hasn't gone half the round of the Glock.
I'm not a Glock fan boy. It's my second Glock, I hate Glock angle with a passion, and was happy to ditch my first Glock.
I think they may have either some consistency problems, or perhaps there is some serious ammo problems. I know from shooting my M&P Smith 22 rifle (looks like an Ar) with newly purchased ammo had some rounds that wouldn't push the slide back. Sounded like squibs. Dunno if that is part of the issue. Those were CCI and Remington, but I didn't try either in the Glock as I prefer the Armscor Nickel.
Hope this is of some value.
Thanks for another honest review Mr. Harrell.

They started at 17 and just increment the number by 1 as each new model is introduced. I think the 17 was a marketing ploy as the magazine capacity was 17 at a time when the closest competition was 15.
Interesting enough, their field knives (excellent by the way) use their year of introduction as the model number. I have both the 78 and 81. I prefer the 78, but they are nearly impossible to find lately.

There is a “trick” with loading the magazine, though some don’t require it. I have the G44 and 5 magazines. I was getting failures with the first magazine I tried. However, since I loaded it, turned it upside down and pulled the tabs and let the rounds fall free, I have not had a single failure in a little over 500 rounds. I have used CCI Mini’s, Standard, and Subs without issue.
Should I have to do this “trick?” No, but it only takes a second and it is a small price to pay for 100% functionality. This is the first 22lr that has functioned flawlessly for over 500 rounds. I also have a brother in law who also has had zero problems that weren’t ammo related and he doesn’t have to do the “trick.”

Digging Deep Adventures , still shooting after 50 years which will be 40 years longer than that millennial piece of plastic Glock. Call me provincial but there is only one semiauto that I would trust and that’s a 1911. Got two. Each for a different purpose.

tubeonline629 the model 999 is a break top like the old S&W Schofield so it’s a little bit faster reloading but the 949 is a solid revolver. Like you said 23 years and still going, pull the trigger and it still goes bang.

I still think that the main purpose of the Glock 44 is to have maximum fun at the range without worrying about ammo budget.

Excellent review. Great concept with the 22lr Glock. I’m not a Glock fan but I followed the same route with a Browning 1911 in 22lr for my son. I’ve always been a 1911 guy so that’s what my son is learning with. The Browning has been outstanding. Over a thousand rounds with a variety of ammo and not one malfunction yet. I enjoyed the video as always.

@snoopy dubnation if someone puts out consistent quality content, it is not unreasonable to assume they will likely continue that trend. Or are you just the type of negative person who is unable to allow others to show excitement at things they enjoy due to some deficit in your own personality? I truly pity you.

Just finished an 18-hour pistol training course at my local gun range held by a third party training company. The live-fire exercise was performed with company-provided Glock 44's running Federal 36 grain bulk .22LR. There were way too many failures to eject for it to stem from new shooters or coincidence. Being the first Glock model I've ever shot, the sight picture was incredibly difficult. The company instructors were all pro-Glock and had the Glock logo on their shirts, hats, and range bag patches.
Thank you, Paul, for showing a different perspective and helping me opt for something else as a .22 autoloader.

I own a G44. You're right on about the sights. Mine shot high too, solved it by adding a suppressor height sight to the rear notch.

The department that I work for uses Glock 22 handguns. I have worked there for almost 14 years and have been amazed at the reliability, durability and longevity of our range Glocks. Many have well over 100k rounds through them and still have all of the original components that they were assembled with when they were originally built, when they were brand new. Because of that, I have always carried a Glock as my every day conceal and carry gun. I shoot them extremely well and have always had really good experiences with them.
Back in 2018, I began collecting firearms and now have several firearms of all makes, models and calibers, including several Glocks from Gen 3’s to Gen 5’s.
My every day conceal and carry gun is now a Glock 45 MOS. It has Trijicon suppressor height night sights on it, a Trijicon RMR Type 2 adjustable LED red dot MOS mounted on a C&H Precision Weapons System V4 Defender Plate and a Surefire X400 Ultra weapon light. The X400 Ultra has a green laser and a 1,000 lumen/11,300 candela light that are extremely durable. The laser has never lost its zero no matter how hard that I am on it when I’m training. I then keep it and all of its magazines loaded with Underwood Xtreme Defender 90 grain +P ammo and keep it in a High Threat Concealment IWB kydex Spektre holster and keep the magazines in a Pitbull Tactical IWB/OWB Universal magazine carriers.
When the Glock 44 was announced, I pre ordered one and paid for it all in advance because of my experiences with Glocks. I also got the Glock 44 with my Dad in mind. Back in either 1989 or 1990 he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis from being sprayed with Agent Orange, when he got drafted into the army and sent to Vietnam. Because my Dads health was very poor and he was in a wheelchair and only had somewhat strength in one hand, I bought the Glock 44 also with him in mind so he could go out shooting with me sometime. Unfortunately, after the gun came in, we had weather that was to poor for him to be out in it. Then COVID hit, as well as the lockdown. And then during all of that, my Dad got hospitalized due to his multiple sclerosis. He spent 4 days in the hospital and when there was nothing more that could be done for him, they sent him home under hospice care but didn’t expect him to live through the night. And they were right. He passed away a few hours later, after being sent home.
Because I bought the Glock 44 more for my Dad in mind, it has still never been fired. I love shooting guns but I can’t bring myself to shoot that gun. Yet anyway. At least not for right now. But then I also started hearing about all of the issues that other people were having with theirs and that really surprised me. Maybe it’s simply best for me to only keep mine as a collectible and never shoot it? If I want another .22lr handgun, I’ll see what is out there and has the best known reliability?
