I doubt three people would want to sit in the back of the Prius Prime or the Volt.

Small?!? The cargo space is more then 33% larger then the 2ng gen Prius that I own currently. But about 8% smaller then the 3rd gen- but both vehicles known for having so much space.Having around 20cuft of cargo still a heck of a lot.. And it's almost Twice the size of the Volt.So pretty darn large in my opinion. And with car I have now I had a Lot of packing for a road trip for 2 that I took. For me, the prime cargo is big & regular 4th gen cargo is just, extra big lol

So if this is small, the Volt's is Microscopic

Actually the prime only has 20 cu feet with the seats down, where as the Volt measurement you gave is with the seats up, so let's make sure we're comparing the same thing here :) The Volt capacity with seat down is 35 cu ft (first generation)

Actually, I am comparing the same thing. Idk where you read that it was with sea seasts down,
honestly I can't even find what it is with seats down. Just jumps to interior/ passenger volume ( which is 91.5, Volt is 90cuft)
Was looking at a list of cargo space measurements to make sure on the Volts.
Seems like your right with 35 for 1st gen- but 2nd gen keeps same size for seats up, but goes down to 33 seats down.
But you can check it out yourself, that's the Primes normal cargo space. (Seats up)

Rolando Cordero I can't attach photos to comments, but I'll discuss this in my next update show!

As mentioned I'll discuss this in my next update show, but I'm on a computer with a keyboard now so figured I should cover a few of my thoughts! First off, I was definitely wrong about the measurement on the Prius Prime, and that 20 cu feet is with the seats up, the difference though is that in my mind this space is not as usable as what you find in a vehicle like the Volt. Car & Drive did an interesting analysis of cargo space of many vehicles in this segment, and even though the Volt is 9 cu/ft less of storage, it held more luggage bags than the Prius Prime:
      www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2017-toyota-prius-prime-in-depth-model-review-2017-toyota-prius-prime-cargo-space-and-storage-review-car-and-driver-page-7
A lot of it comes down to the shape/area that the trunk has been configured as. So although the Prius Prime does technically have more storage, I feel the space given in the Volt is more usable.
