    Excellent video. Gave me the information that I was looking for for my next carry. Picked up a PD 380 in February and have been carrying it since. It is as excellent a shooter as your reviews showed.
    Almost as nice a shooter as my Smith & Wesson m&p 380 PC EZ. Now I have two carries in rotation.

    It would be a nice review to compare the various non micro 380’s.
    In an urban environment the non exiting 380 projectile has a benefit.
    I like the Berretta Cheeta series.
    The new Ruger 380 looks nice.
    The Bersa double stack looks nice.
    A Taurus GC380 would be a competitor in this market

    I love my PD380, but I have a tendency to shoot a little low like you two did a few times. I think my problem is with the three dot sights, when the top of the sights are aligned, the dots do not line up. Luckily, Walther designed the pistol to use the ubiquitous Glock sights.

    I bought the Walther PD380 about two weeks ago. I actually like it. Unfortunately, as of now, there are no major or minor holster manufactures making a fitted kydex or leather holster for the PD380. IWB or OWB. I did find my CrossBreed Super Tuck IWB holster for the Ruger Security-380 Lite Rack to work pretty well. A very slightly loose fit in the CrossBreed hybrid holster. The Walther PD380 and the Ruger Security-380 Lite Rack pistols are very similar in overall dimensions. It will be great when a holster is brought to the market to fit exactly the Walther PD380 since it is made primarily for concealed carry defensive use.

    • @GBGuns

      I bet a leather holster for the PK380 would fit. I see they haven't updated it yet, but Walther is pretty good about listing holster options on their website too.

    Good viedo and I like the duel comparsion between the two of you. I have been looking at 380's because of injuries to both of my rotator cuffs. With my 9mm after about 10 to 15 rounds my shoulder starts huring and continues to hurt for about a week. I am trying to find a local gun shop here in Wyoming that has both the Walther PD380 and the Ruger Security 380. Untill I find something with lower recoil my days of shooting 200 to 300 rounds on a range day have stopped.

      It would be great to see an updated PPS, but they'd have to go "micro compact" to be competitive and even at that, that market is heavily saturated and many folks have moved back to compacts and sub compacts for a more enjoyable time on the range (in comparison to micros)

    I have the Walther PK-380. Its a love / hate pistol. The are as many cons as pluses, with that design. From what I have seen, of this new model, Walther dropped the ball again!
    They had the perfect chance at redemption, but just got lazy!? To compete in todays market, they should have made it optics ready! Nobody is doing that in a .380.
    Then use double stack mags. It still NEEDS a magazine release switch! AND it NEEDS a Decocker, on a modern hammer gun!
    And even though they upgraded the take down, its still wierd.
    They'll need to do a ton of redesign before I buy another one of those guns!
    P.S. - Walther does make the best feeling, ergonomic grips of any guns in the market! I do love that!

    • @GBGuns
      @GBGuns  11 месяцев назад +2

      I think the omission of optics-ready may be because .380 shooters tend to just be once-in-a-while range goers and for defensive use, not folks who want to pay more for the gun (optics cuts cost money to make) and then pay more for an optic that may or may not be a good idea for defensive use.

    • @JD-tn5lz
      @JD-tn5lz 11 месяцев назад +4

      I'll go against guntuber canon when it comes down to optics-ready.
      In my area, I actually see and know fewer and fewer people choosing to use pistol optics except in competitions. Essentially, virtually never for concealed carry. Time and experience reveal enough about pistol dots to where not everyone is willing to invest in another one and yet another and yet another.
      You purchase a small .380 for concealment, most carriers of small .380s are not the 3X a week at the range banging steel kind of guys. A pistol dot adds bulk in just the wrong place, especially for a conceal .380.
      Yes though, a traditional decocker would have been a better way to go. However, their system isn't fatally flawed.
      Hats off to Walther for once again investing in development. People don't appreciate how expensive the "dead money" of practical innovation actually is.

    • @quinnmclaughlin7537
      @quinnmclaughlin7537 11 месяцев назад

      If you mean "button" instead of "switch" I couldn't disagree with you more.
      Yes, that button is what so many people are used to, myself included...HOWEVER...one session is all it takes to become as fast or faster with a magazine paddle for all except the resistant.
      After becoming enamored of HK products, I wish I could change ALL of my pistols to paddles for magazine eject.

    NO... my FIL had an accidental discharge from a garbage Jennings 380 with a 4" barrel that wasn't drop-safe. Pins, plates, and screws in his femur and hip. And that was a FMJ 380 round.

    The reasons why I bought a GLOCK G25 Gen3.380 9mm Kurz
    instead of this PD380 :
    **15 & 17 rd magazines**
    **No safety lever
    **Longer 4.02" barrel
    **Wider double stack grip
    with nice front finger traction grooves.
    **Available in OD Green
    **Squared trigger guard so TL-7 will fit flush. This PD380 angled guard doesn't allow that.
    Sorry Walther, I do own PDP Full 5", WMP .22wmr, PPQ M2 .22lr 5", but the GLOCK features above win against the PD380.
