    More Details About This Video:
Many times I hear patients call this Fibro-my-allergy. It actually has nothing to do with allergies, and it can be very painful and debilitating. The key with fibromyalgia is to exercise, but not over exercise your body. Many times, simple stretches every day can be very beneficial. Start off with 20-30 seconds of each of these, and work your way up to 1 minute of each.
First, start off with some shoulder circles. You can roll them clockwise, and then counter clockwise. This will stretch out the shoulder and neck muscles. Start with 20-30 seconds.
Now put your hands out in front of you with your thumbs up. Pull them out to the side, and really stretch your chest area, getting a nice stretch and bring them back in. You can pause at the end for an extra stretch. Then put your hands up over your head, and now go side to side bending each way. You can do a continuous motion, or you can hold at each side for about 5 seconds.
After that, stretch your hamstrings. You can do this standing up or sitting down. Put your feet straight you in front of you into a long sit. Keeping your back straight, bend only at your hips down towards your feet. If you want more of a stretch and to stretch your calves as well, pull your toes towards you while stretching.
Next, lie down with your knees propped up. Rotate your knees side to side for a trunk rotation. Try to keep your back on the ground when rotating. Then go into a knee to chest stretch. You can grab your knee, but if you have knee issues, then grab underneath your thigh. Alternate sides.
The last stretch is a child’s pose. Sit on your knees and bring your bottom to your feet. Bring your arms down to the ground in front of you, and stretch them out as far as you can. Hold the stretch.
    Those were your Fibromyalgia stretches!

I have found aqua fit at my local swimming pool has helped me strengthen my legs as I'm on crutches and sat a lot. I go three times a week now and can do 20 length afterwards. you do as much as you can manage with aqua fit and you're held up in the water cushioned almost. You don't even have to be a swimmer. I stand right at the back to hold onto the side when they do leg raises. my pain clinic advisor thinks its great I can manage as much as I can. but I've been going for months now. I am still worn out when I get back. we're all only human after all.

I hope they help too. If you happen to have access to a pool, aquatic therapy can be very beneficial. Not swimming, but exercising in the water. They also might have fibromyalgia water classes in your area. I think these are super helpful not only from the water, but also meeting other people who have it, and maybe getting some ideas from them about what helps them feel better in their every day life. Good luck.

Hi Dr Jo, I'm not sure what I have qualify as fibromyalgia, I've sever pain in my right knee and right shoulder. In addition to that I've mild pain in my right pelvic region and right wrist. Recently a doctor said it might be fibromyalgia and prescribed me with Amit 10mg. I am also looking forward to exercises specific to my pains, specially knee and shoulder, could you please suggest me an exercise routine?

great clip like always thanks a lot. I have fibro but also other problems that made me lose lots of weight unintentionally and probably muscles mainly in my feet.. when I try to go down even one stair my legs feel like wood and I sort of hop lol does not happen when going up stairs or walking. due to lung and pulse problems I can't do aerobic or such like. my arms and body is not rigid but my back muscles are very weak so I cant make these stretches sitting with legs forward. the pain is too great. with your vast rxperience. you surely know which muscles cause this and which of your clips improve this limiting state. I'd love if you in#rt some links I promise to do them, I've been doing the shoulder clips almost daily and the chance is extreme and immediate I could hold a glass plate before without pain. keep on the great work any the joy you bring to our life's 💗

Thank you for the simple stretches I just started doing them. I have no idea what I have but I get pain every few months all over my body. Not sure if is muscle or joins but it usually starts from arms and spreads all over. The last episode is lasting longer and could it be the fact I moved to the very humid climate?

I wish there were a printout of these. Like one picture per exercise, with a title. My memory for directions is not great. I like that your video does not have a lot of fluff and gets right to the point, but is not cold feeling. The fluffy dog is just the right amount of fluff. ;)

Doc i had a wide spread body pain for 1.5 years now. Its started after total hesterectomy due to endometriosis. Ive been check up many times labtest, xrays, ultrasound no problem. Im prostrated because i feel lot of pain but no diagnosis. Watching videos in utube ky symptoms seems fibromalgia. Im afraid of doing exercise thinking it worst the pain. Is it ok to do these exercise even in pain?

Any advice for someone that cannot sit back on their heels? I used to be able to but after years of much less activity it feels like my knees will burst if I fully sit back. From kneeling I end up about 8 inches from my heels before the pain is excruciating. Scans show nothing abnormal...
