This morning I woke up with a really sore neck that I could not relieve using heat pad and random stretches. I believe the cause was the way I was sitting in a restaurant booth last night at dinner. I remembered your video (which helped me another time) and did the complete set. Immed. after doing them, my neck pain was gone. I will repeat tonight, too. I will take more care in the future with my posture. Thank you so much!

Have you ever treated someone with cervical dystonia? I've done a bit of everything over the years, including physical therapy. That, unfortunately, was a bit too aggressive, I think, and actually made me worse after 6 months. There is definitely a brain-muscle component in my issue, but I may try some of these anyhow. My face is now turned to my right most of the time (neck locked). I can barely turn my head to the left. It doesn't want to go that way. If you have any tips in particular for my situation, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks.

Suffered from chronic neck pain for the last 6 years. I’ve tried everything: trying every style of pillow, supplements, muscle stimulation/TENS, and acupressure. I’m on day 3 in a row of doing this and I haven’t had ANY pain or migraines. The first night it felt as if my muscles just melted. It might be early but man I can’t get over how good my neck feels!

Ear to Shoulder with over pressure really sorted out my neck discomfort. Years of discomfort sorted in 3 sets of day 1. This is day 3 of the stretches and I have more energy. Its crazy. Diet has not changed, cardio the same, though its improving as a result of the sleeping better.
I am even struggling to wake up in the morning, it feels like I took sleeping tablets, though I have not taken any sleeping aids. Nice feeling though. Who doesn't want to sleep a bit longer each morning?

Do you know if tennis elbow symptoms can be caused by neck strain? My physio thinks this is the case for me, the tennis elbow symptoms came a couple months before any neck pain. Tennis elbow only hurts during exercise, never lasts beyond that. Neck pain caused by tensing neck (anxiety) and tending during weightlifting, but it occurs at random times if I’m sitting down and there are weeks where it’s basically constant. Also this vid is great help! I improved posture and neck hurts way less. I thought I had okay posture for my neck for months… but I didn’t realise having shoulders back plays a huge role in neck pain! Guessing it helps support the upper traps or something.

I lived with chronic neck pain for 3 full years. Stretching can relieve symptoms but sometimes isn't the solution. I have been pain free for 6 months. Unique situation but let me share. 80% of people who snore have some form of sleep apnea. Sleep Apnea can cause neck pain. An apnea event can act as a micro whiplash causing pinched nerves and neck pain. Check yourself for sleep apnea and bruxism/clenching. Hiatal hernias or a weak esophageal sphincter can cause gerd which may also contribute to clenching/bruxism. You may need a mouth guard if you have chronic neck pain. Ask dentist if any signs of bruxism. NTI mouth guard works for me but others may do the trick as well. See a dentist and make sure they shave the guard down after and adjust it accordingly. If your bite isn't clean after getting a mouth guard it might make things worse or might not be effective. If you can't get use to your mouth guard, its possible you are a mouth breather and you are salivating a lot, and you need to switch to nasal breathing. If you cant breathe through your nose see an ENT, perhaps you have a deviated septum. Perform Face pulls on a daily basis according to athleneX or Jeff Cavaliere. Quit drinking alcohol and caffeine. They increase stress and increase blood pressure which could result in more cervicogenic tension and pressure on your nerves. Lift more weights. Eat an anti-inflammatory diet. Lose weight. Walk more throughout the work day. Fix the ergonomics of your desk. Drink more water and consume a well balanced diet. Start taking zinc, fish oil and turmeric supplements as they are anti-inflammatory. 400mg of magnesium before bed and upon awakening. Consume chamomile tea every night before bed. Go to bed early and wake up early. Try to workout before work if possible (hard one, but not mandatory). Try a wedge pillow. Sleep on your back, more aligned posture. If you start sleeping on your back but have undiagnosed sleep apnea it will make your symptoms worse. Get your eye's checked. You might be subconsciously leaning forward and straining your neck. Forward head posture is a beatch. Continue to stretch and don't forget to stretch your chest too. Doorway stretches. Get blue light filter glasses if you do need glasses and spend a lot of time at your PC, and get a blue light filter for your monitor too. Don't forget aerobic exercise too. Get a blood pressure cuff and measure it regularly. Get your blood pressure down to a healthy range. Coenzyme Q10 can help reduce it by 10 mmHG. Check with doctor before taking. I don't even stretch anymore. That's how good lm doing. Goodluck. Neck pain can be crippling.

Only ones who shouldn't do this are Cervical Instability
    - Eagle's Syndrome (chin tuck will increase symptoms)
    - Jugular Vein Compression (chin tuck will make you feel faint)
    - Lateral Stretch - ear to shoulder (if it hurts bad behind the hear - likely have C1 instability) - Get a DMX and check the open mouth lateral view.
If a patient like this does these - they'll get worse.

Neck to side stretch: I've been told not to push my lower ear towards my shoulder, but to lift the upper ear as high as possible and tilt it as far as possible to the opposite side (the down ear side). It may look the same, but it extends, rather than compresses, the neck and feels much better to me.

Ooo wee these are good 🫶🏾 The one with the pillowcase is a game changer for me. I had a “pop” in my neck and in my shoulder from old injuries and regular neck rotations were too much and felt unsustainable.
The neck strengthen exercises plus the stretches are super helpful. I did both today and feel great :) Thanks Doc 🙂

Funny, I’ve been putting on muscle mass after losing a ton from a surgery & my is catching up fine with the exclusion of my pencil neck. These exercises helped so much as I was just doing the typical trap raises. AND The other video was even better! Very good, thanks for the posting!
