I thought my only hope was surgery. I had so much pain, which had increased over the years. I did this “shift”. It did not help immediately, but since he stated in the video that it could could take a year to repair if the problem had been going on a long time I held out hope and also did the exercises for inner knee pain from one of his other videos. The pain diminished over the months and one year later I can happily say it is better. I can hardly believe it. (I can sit cross legged in the floor once again!) This shift along with the exercises really worked. Thank you so much. I am very grateful!

Hey there.. I've just started this, but have had pain for a year plus in one knee, and a couple of months now in the other also (but nowhere near as bad) so i realise it will take a while.. I wondered if you'd mind sharing your symptoms as you went through this process. I'm a little unsure, and worried that I might do more damage if I'm pushing the leg parts in directions they don't need to go (if I don't in fact have this problem).
I am having definite relief (slightly) from doing it, but am feeling a little weird when walking. So it feels like my knees are clicking more than normal. I'm really not sure, I mean maybe it's because I'm realigning them. Anyway, any input would be really appreciated. Thanks a load.

This actually worked! I had a knee pain on my inner knee that seemed to be getting worse. I exercise every day (walk 5 miles and use the elliptical) and I noticed a knee pain about two months ago that was exactly as described in this video. I couldn’t find anything on the internet about this pain and I was resigned to getting it addressed by physical therapy although my mobility wasn’t substantially affected (I could walk but with pain on my knee). I then saw this video and the therapist seemed to describe my exact pain. In desperation, I started this exercise exactly as prescribed, without expecting any results. To my surprise, my knee pain substantially decreased after one week and it has improved to the point where I forget about the pain (this is week 2). I plan to continue the exercise on a daily basis until the pain is completely gone. Thank you for this very effective advice!

I just followed the video and I already feel a bit of relief although I’m just about to go to bed so I’ll see how it is in the morning.. but one question if I may. Is it both parts of the exercise every 1 or 2 hours or just the foot scoop part.

This video was a godsend. My inner knee pain erupted one morning as I got out of bed...no gradual buildup...just kaboom. Tried staying off of the leg, ice, heat, even physical therapy. I kept telling the PT's that the routines were not really alleviating the pain entirely and in some cases my inner knee pain worsened. Lying on my side was the worst...the pain was intense doing this...the side if the knee was tender to the touch.
After several months of this I came accross your video after searching. I tried your exercise and in 2 days NO INTENSE PAIN. I will be performing this exercise regularly several times daily...thanks so very much. Keep up the videos!

Seems any & every time I sit w/my right leg bend for a prolonged time (like on my bed while on my laptop), when I go to straighten it back out or stand up--here comes that aching, dreaded irritating and most aggravating pain! I even had my Dr schedule an MRI (because the *X-ray* showed nothing) in order to find some mental peace and awareness that this wasn't just all in my head...and now I find this video and understand it isn't and it's real BUT can be managed. I’m a healthy 53y.o. female, but after I started placing pillows underneath my legs during sleep (as I heard it helps to protect our spine), I developed sudden inner knee pain with a slight bump as I tend to wake up with my right leg flipped in an awkward position. When I started to feel some aches, I went to see the Orthopaedics and they ran some X-rays and says its nothing and sent me for Rehab to learn some leg exercise routine for knee pain (which was all about turning the legs outward and stretch for 10 secs, etc). It's been 2 years and no help and they asked me to take supplements and painkillers. I said nope. I have an inkling I twisted something or perhaps its an old injury but I don’t know what... voila! Today I found you! Your detailed explanation, with the skeleton, and the real patient makes a lot of difference. It makes so much sense Dr David. I am going to try this! I will let you know.

The original knee pain is improving but since I’ve been compensating when I walk I’ve developed this medial knee pain. I just tried this tibia shifting while watching your video and WOW what an improvement. Thank you soo much for making this video!!!!🙏

I'm 66 yrs old & foolishly decided to paint the foyer of my home. I was up & down the extension ladder hundreds of times. My knees began to protest louder than usual....popping sound with pain. I had the inner knee pain previously & ignored it. When I finished painting I could barely move the popping & pain was so severe. Searching for help, I stumbled onto this site. The scooping exercise immediately decreased the inner knee pain. Slight popping remains but pain is less. Thank you! God bless you for your helpful information!

Thank you Dr. David. This video may have saved my life. I have been struggling with this exact knee pain. I had the cortisone shot and PT on the knee, and the pain got worse to the point that I couldn't stand it any more. I couldn't complete my last PT session and I had to use crutches to even walk or stand. I tried the leg pressure and the foot scoops and the relief was almost instant. For the 1st time in recent memory I could walk without massive pain, and I felt some hope. Thank you!

In just a couple days of following your instructions of doing stairs with my feet out and the knee stretch, almost all pain is gone. It's amazing! Hi, I developed a pain in my left knee a few weeks ago. My doctor sent me for a scan, and it showed a tear in the meniscus. No real plan was offered, just a recommendation to rest the knee. About a week ago, I watched a RUclips video that involved putting a towel behind my knee and bending my leg back to relieve the pressure in my knee. That worked wonders, I even managed a little jog today, which a month ago I never thought I'd be able to do again. I still had some pain in my knee, but nothing like a week ago. Tonight I watched your video and after first doing the knee twist routine. I then did the straight leg, foot turned in exercise. After a couple of tries, I heard a clicking sound. I am assuming if part of my pain was the knee alignment being out, then hopefully that noise was the knee joint clicking back. Time will tell, but I will continue to do the exercise for a week or two as it is quite easy. Thanks for sharing this exercise. I honestly thought I'd be under the knife within weeks. I'm sure I'm going to get back to normal, well for a 72 year old, at least relatively pain free.

    • @epmanualphysicaltherapy
      @epmanualphysicaltherapy  3 года назад +2

Hey gee cee! Thanks for sharing your story!!! We're so glad you're feeling better too! We love it when people get devastating diagnoses like a meniscus tear and then eventually get back to exercising, even jogging! That's so grreat to hear!
Yes meniscus tears can usually be handled without surgery. Doctors don't know what to do about this so they tend to be quick to send people to surgery. But if you do the right things you can get back to normal.
That's a really cool trick with the towel behind the knee! We'll have to try it out and see if it's beneficial to have our patients do.

OMG! Have been fighting medial knee pain since my last menisectomy back in 2011. Caused me to stop running. Have been putting off another surgery because I hear a second surgery will just not help that much. I’m 61 now and trying to walk, bike, and golf, but the knee is so painful after. Tried this for 2 minutes last night, and Wow! Immediate relief. I’m paranoid it’s only temporary, but after a good nights sleep, it’s still pain free. And I had angered it 2 days ago by playing 18 holes. Is this for real? It makes a lot of sense. I never thought I needed the original surgery, as I thought I had Pes Anserine Bursitis back then from hard cycling. My left ankle has little mobility from 50 years of competitive golf. I’m so encouraged. Thanks

      Hi Tammy,
Wow, this made our day! 🎉 We're so thrilled to hear that you found relief so quickly-that’s amazing! It’s incredible what a difference the right techniques can make. Keep up the great work, and if you’re looking for even more ways to support your knee, we have an inner knee playlist that might be helpful too. You can access it here:
      "Inner Knee Pain Help"
      ruclips.net/p/PLJVIPiFvv1ma8eg9DwBsl5IRgnLdKCcHs
Start with one or two exercises, beginning with the smallest range of motion and the lowest intensity. As you feel stronger, you can gradually increase both the range of motion and intensity. It’s best to do these exercises every day throughout the day. Aim to tire out the muscle without losing form or control. Consistency is key. Always avoid working through pain; soreness and mild discomfort are normal, but pain is not.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience-comments like yours are why we do what we do! We'd love to hear how you are doing as you progress.🙌 Please take care!

Woooow ~ This is just amazing! Thank you so much. I’m a tennis player and had to stop playing due to my right knee prioblem. Something snap when I w not to serve~ like something got hook. I was diagnosed with a meniscus teared. But after going through a long treatment of non surgical laser treatments, the problem continued. I always believed that what I had was a knee shifting or dislocated. This video CONFIRMS 100% what I always felt in my knee! I will star Immediately wuth the exercises! Thanks a million! Maria

My knee gave out during a run last week. I thought I tore my meniscus or something similar. I couldn’t walk properly, my knee kept “catching” or felt like hitting bone on bone at times. I came across your video Friday evening and felt instant relief with your method. I was able to run in a duathlon Sunday morning with no problem. Thank you for sharing this and God Bless you!

Thank you for that link. I'm going through them all tomorrow for sure. It's 1040pm here.
The Dr said I had osteoarthritis and to put a bandage round my knee and take ibuprofen for a week and if it still was burning after a week to call the surgery and ask to be referred to physio.
I thought why wait a week - I'll look for some exercises now and found yours! After seeing the tibial shift, I followed your film and walked into the kitchen like usual then upstairs. OMG! I'm going to follow all your exercises! Thank you! Thank you! If you are ever in Broadstairs Kent UK I'll buy you lunch at the seaside!

I have had severe craniomedial knee pain for about 3 years now. Diagnosed and treated surgically for torn menisci with minimal benefit, I've always felt something else was wrong. I'm now really optimistic that this is the root of my knee problems and hopeful that it will help. I just did the stretch and the exercise for 2 minutes and it already feels slightly better.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!

I had a very slight pain on the inner left knee. Your diagnostic area of pain was spot on on the inside of the knee!! Before your video I noticed my left shin muscle was very tight. I’d been massaging the shin a lot. After this treatment my shin feels totally fine and I’m excited to keep this up. Thanks!!

Don't know if you'll read this message, being the 2628th in the list, but BUT... MY GOD, you've appeared yeaterday on my YT searches by a miracle. Was not even searching for 'knee pbm' but exercises in general. BUT yes, I had this exact knee pbm. I did what you show us to do and today, thank God, no pain at all. Seriously, you were sent by my angel! I thank both of you! 😆 The pbm appeard two days ago. It's a knee for which I had a surgery in the 1990's. Still have my knee brace that I put back from time to time... So I decided yesterday that I needed to regain muscles and restart to train to protect all my joints, hence my YT search yesterday. So thank you so so so much sir. You solved my pain and problem. Today, I'm starting a 'ragain muscles training plan', the real 'stuff' with a schedule, all the kit! And I will do your glute exercises you show in the other video. Again. a BIG BIG thanks to you, from Canada.

Thank you so much for posting this! I started having pain inside my knee many months ago and I did go & see a Dr. of PT in Albuq & they couldn't figure out what was wrong. They tried dry needling, blading, and giving me exercises but none of that helped. I've been doing hip stretches that help for a short amount of time. However, I tried your suggestions and it helped a lot!!! Thank you again for posting. Hopefully, I'll be back running soon. If not, I guess I'll have to find you.

@@epmanualphysicaltherapy Thank you so much. I do suffer quite a bit. I'm 64 now and I think a large part of my knee pain comes from being grossly overweight. I'm certain things will improve when I lose 60-70 pounds. I'm working towards it every day. Thank you for the links. All the best to you and yours!

Hey Stefan, It is more important that you focus on the root cause of the pain and take baby steps to increase the strength to fix any muscle imbalances. When it hurts to move it makes it very frustrating to even attempt to exercise. Doing strengthen exercises a little bit each day can make great improvement. Please don't be hard on yourself🧡 You got this!

I know this video was posted three years ago so I understand if you don’t see this comment but you have drastically improved my daily life. I’m impressed and grateful for your techniques! I’ve spent several weeks alternating ice packs and heating pads, wearing knee braces, and taking OTC medications, with little to no relief.
