I would preheat the whole roll of Gorilla tape too. Leave the roll out in the sun for a few hours, or somewhere warm. That way it will be way more pliable while you are trying to conform it to the plastic body. Also, preheat the oven to 250F for about 20 minutes before you put the body in there. The body plastic probably will not start to permanently deform until you get way up to like 400 degrees or more. HOWEVER: wrap the body very loosely with aluminum foil to reflect infrared heat. The infrared heat coming straight from the heating elements of the oven WILL melt stuff. So once the oven is preheated and the body loosely wrapped in foil, heat the body in the oven for a good long while, like 10 or 15 minutes. That will get the tape nice and warm but not melting. Then take it out and quickly go over the tape with your rubbing technique using a wrench like you're doing, or possibly a pencil eraser, or a hard piece of foam rubber, or leather wrapped around something hard like a pen or flathead screwdriver.

I've found that shoogoo and drywall tape was extremely messy and time consuming. Moved onto gorilla tape but it adds too much weight (less of an issue with bashers). Now I just reinforce the mounting holes and areas likely to scrub. Uv resin (soft) can be painted on to the inside and outside of the more fragile areas. But mostly I discovered that not crashing really is good for the body.. landing inverted is less favourable..

Great tip with heating! I've always taped my body. Sometimes I'll do the rc car body too. Works like a charm

For me shoo goo and dry wall tape always works well, but this is a good alternative if you do not want to work with fiberglass and toxic chemicals

the better way is a can of flex seal, the color don't mater. make sure the body is clean and put 3 to 5 coats on the inside, works amazing

I found the best way to do this is to buy a pint of marine grade liquid rubber, add 2 bags of shredded resin/fiberglass, stir, apply with a paintbrush. Quick, easy, and much more durable, apply multiple layers.
