That was transcendent. Absolutely fantastic. No words. what a privilege it is to be living when Jason and those musicians are producing that kind of music.
Not taking anything away from him. He's amazingly talented artist and writer but as song writer I'd have to say he's a close second behind Chris Stapleton. That guy I can't believe the songs he's wrote. But yes Jason is AMAZING in his own right. That's what makes music so great the emotion and soul these artist put into not only the music but the words.
Love your beautiful music I have followed you for years and I'm so proud of your sobriety you have a gift and you're giving it to us that's awesome I'm coming to see you next week in LA looking forward to a great show keep up the good work you give us something to look forward
Saw him at ETSU last Saturday night! Last show of the tour and all proceeds went to the Children's Hospital! Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit did not disappoint! They sound great live!! He is one of the great songwriters of our time!
wow. I'm glad we grew up so close to them in alabama. we saw them at the chicken and egg festival and they were AMAZING. world needs more people like them. County Line Rd 8 Hwy 72 brush creek rd ♡ Greenhill killen st florian florence shoals elgin rogersville florence all hold a very dear and very special place in my heart. it's a special place to live and out of it came these guys :) ♡♡♡ Love Yall ♡♡♡
Lauren Southwick - fellow Alabamian, here. Decatur. Love the Chicken & Egg Festivals!! Jason Isbell, too😉 You know he’s coming to the Shoals this coming October? Him & his wife. Weekend show, $60 tickets. Can’t wait to see him!
Finally!! I got to see Jason Isbell in concert this weekend, and it was worth the drive, the money, the wait!! He is EXACTLY the same on stage as in the videos, he is perfect! Songs are still stuck in my head. I will be going to see him again, and again.
My first Jason Isbell show was over two years ago. ~100 people in attendance, all hanging on every word and just appreciating what they knew to be a jewel. I might never have that experience again, but if it means Jason's success, it's a sacrifice that I'm happy to make. He is the American songwriter.
I also saw him for the first time just over a month ago. I agree with your post except change EXACTLY to BETTER! I get a feeling in my gut when I listen to his music and watch videos.....and I'm seeing him again in a couple of months ♥
Just saw him for the first time last night so I'm late to the game. Never in my life have I ever been so intent on listening to the lyrics of a song(s). Every single one tells a beautiful story and the music...well, the music is just incredibly beautiful as well.
Heard this LIVE for the first time May 1st at Merlefest in Wilkesboro NC. I could have listened to over and over....it seemed to stun the crowd with its beauty and power. I liked Isbell already but wow....incredible.
this song seems to just 'take you away' no matter what you're doing if you start listening to it you just fall into it forever and ever until its done....and then usually you just end up staring off into space...deBorja's keyboards are ethereal and with Jason's solo --- just physically moving
I was pretty sure he couldn't possibly do better than Southeastern, but this is just amazing. Been waiting for something like this to come along for so long.Music's so much better for having him around.
Guitar not gently weeping. When I thought I had hit the pinnacle of music and it being found exactly when I needed to find it. Thank you Jason. Absolute awe and stinging pain
First saw Jason with DBT at the Continental Club in Houston back in 02 or 03, I've been a fan ever since. His success as a solo artist makes me so glad I was ahead of the curve with this guy.
Thomas Brown It is already out as of July. It is called Something More then Free. Almost as good as Southeastern. He has been getting a lot of press because it was #! on the rock, folk and country charts.
Thomas Brown Great songs all over his first three solo records too: The Magician, Alabama Pines, Seven Mile Island, Codeine, Go It Alone, In a Razor Town, Tour of Duty, Soldiers Get Strange, Dress Blues, Cigarettes & Wine and a bunch more.
That was transcendent. Absolutely fantastic. No words. what a privilege it is to be living when Jason and those musicians are producing that kind of music.
OK, this is one of the most absolutely beautiful songs I have ever heard. Love it all, his voice, lyrics, mood, tempo, slide guitar at end...genius!
Still sounds incredible in 2023. Perhaps my Favorite Isbell song followed by Cover me up and Alabama Pines.
Going to see these guys, Nov 2024, my capital, Edinburgh. I can’t wait….👍🏴🎸🇺🇸
Best songwriter in the business right now. So much amazing talent.
Hands down.
Not taking anything away from him. He's amazingly talented artist and writer but as song writer I'd have to say he's a close second behind Chris Stapleton. That group of 30 people just got to witness one of the greatest performances of the greatest songs in the past decade.

Somewhere Neil Young is smiling. Masterpiece.
Jordan Reilly Yeah, I thought of Neil Young too when I heard it.
+Jordan Reilly So true.
+Jordan Reilly And Duane Allman is smiling from beyond the grave too

Best concert I've seen in 35 years. The ONLY concert I've ever been to where I sat on the edge of my seat and listened intently to every single word.
Just saw him for the first time last night so I'm late to the game. Never in my life have I ever been so intent on listening to the lyrics of a song(s). Every single one tells a beautiful story and the music...well, the music is just incredibly beautiful as well.
Jason, you are a gift to humanity. I am so thankful you have found such brilliance in sobriety. Love you, man.
This is by far one of the best musical performances I've had the pleasure of seeing live in the flesh! Simply amazing! Get to love this band!
Just by being born. I tell my mother for the 4 sons 4 times a year our birthday's hers. Without being told we would have never known.
Thank you Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit. AND that solo was off the charts btw. Other-worldly. Thank you.....You guys are truly great...
Absolutely beautiful. I could lay back in the grass listenin' to this all summer long.
Doing that right now. It’s fantastic. Life is good 😊

Masterful performance by Jason
Neil Young wrote a paper on Jason Isbell, the world sure needed you man, thanks. thats what it said.. Love Neil + Jason..
+sandra sword For real? Or is that just what SHOULD happen? ;)
+bgmiller5 and guy down must have read it, g davis said Neil Young was so right..
+sandra sword He was right. But this World will not see
exactly
...that LES PAUL sounds so clean and Jason makes it cry!
It’s actually a Duesenberg I think.
Wow, Maestros one and all. And drummer Chad Gamble is simply sublime, what a gift.
Who the hell plays guitar like that?? Jason Isbell thats who!! Daaayum!!
God, this version of this song really hits me in the feels.
He is without a doubt, the greatest song writer today!!!
Guitar not gently weeping. When I thought I had hit the pinnacle of music and it being found exactly when I needed to find it. Thank you Jason. Absolute awe and stinging pain
Neil Young is so right!I can't remember the last time I bought music. This, I got to have! Thanks Jason
+g davis very well said.
I feel sorry for the 28 people that dislike this. They must live very sad to dissatisfied lives
SO AMAZING AND MESMORIZING...such a cool roll, you don't want it to end!
First saw Jason with DBT at the Continental Club in Houston back in 02 or 03, I've been a fan ever since. His success as a solo artist makes me so glad I was ahead of the curve with this guy.
Jason Isbell's "Comfortably Numb"
Yep
Much more Neil Young to me.
@@Gauchedevil5150 I'm thinking Cortez the Killer
Amen
Nice rare beautiful song. Nice poetry
All the years you took from her just by being born.....profound.
savage
Saw him play Portland that night.
Powerful.
That was a moment not always reached when people are jamming. Nice
Wow. Just amazing.
Brilliant writing and arrangement! Take me back in time!
This is my favorite version
It's ok, the Moms don't see it the same way. The work and pain and sacrifice fade away, while the love endures.
That's a lovely response. I wonder how he views this now that he's a parent.
if I could give your response 100 thumbs up I would
Your words brought a tear to my eye as I'm listening to this song. Thanks for the comment.
Just AWESOME!
what a great f'ing solo.
Isbell is up there with Tracy Chapman in pure songwriting prowess.
This guy is awesome!!

+Kyle Davison I know what you mean...
Keyboardist is really good. The synthesizer adds alot to this song
love this
That guitar at end🤯
😮😮😮😮😮just wow
living legend
I have a top 10 ever and this is in there
That slide guitar solo is intense!!!!! Damn this guy can play!!!!
I just tried to like this again
Great song. Reminds me of Polly by Dillard & Clark. Maybe some traces of Some misunderstanding by Gene Clark as well
Wow.
He should be more popular.
The less popular but the better/ the more absolutely special- which he certainly is.
Ahhhh- and he swaps out guitars! I didn't notice but he must have done it when I saw him live!
That snare @ 3:42 though $$$ needs more reverb like the other performances though.
Anybody know if he is tuned to open d tuning for the solo?
+Ethan Watson I actually want to say that it's open E tuning. EBEGBE
Where is Chad Gamble?
Amazing, does Jason have a new LP coming out?
Thomas Brown It is already out as of July. It is called Something More then Free. Almost as good as Southeastern. He has been getting a lot of press because it was #! on the rock, folk and country charts.
Came out a month ago
Southeastern is great. A friend of mine owns a record store in Portland and turned me on to Jason. Lucky for me!
+abbgt so happy I've loved Jason for 5 or six years...
not entirely sure what earns this a down vote... but whatever.
