      Everything is just app based now. So you can make the best phone, but if you don’t have a large enough group of people buying it out the gate, then you don’t get developers to make apps for it. so you can have the greatest phone in the world, but if it doesn’t have, Instagram or TikTok because the developers have decided that you don’t have a large enough base then nobody’s going to buy your phone even though you have the hardware. That’s kind of what happened to their earlier device.

    • @eingoluq
      @eingoluq 7 месяцев назад +17

      No matter how god they make it it will always fail. because the market determined to make them fail. The Microsoft tax has been real since the days of the Windows Phone. media outlets like Engadget and The Verge started the whole "wait and see mantra" when WP had a lot of developers and consumer support. That killed sales. They did it on purpose. Android was the open software darling despite being ugly, and glitchy and general consumers thought it an annoyance. But they picked that horse and it paid off. after a year, developers who were making apps for WP was discouraged because of the wait-and-see matra, and WP started to haemorrhage. which caused Microsoft to do desperate things that ultimately led to it's end.
      If they make another one, it will happen again.

    I'm not hearing anything about much needed improvements (at least 16GB of RAM to start with) for the small form factor tablets such as the existing 10.5" Go 4.

    No way am I spending money on ARM processors running windows. I got burned way too hard by the Surface Pro X and it’s limited compatibility! Switched to Mac and have not looked back.

      My Surface Pro 4 has hit 7 years, and its 0.9 GHz Core m3 is too slow to support Windows 11. Since Windows 10 reaches End of Life on October 14th, 2025, I am looking at retiring it. Finding a way to reconfigure the device as a graphics tablet seems like a good project to avoid turning it into e-waste. Hopefully, simply engaging the digitizer won't trigger "flicker gate" on the device like GIMP does.

    But why so thick an heavy? I though new ARM powered Surface pro tablet will be thin and light at least as Surface pro X. Im pro 8 user, and i loved Pro 6 and 7 how they are thinner and lighter than current Pro line

    • @otozinclus3593
      @otozinclus3593 7 месяцев назад

      Because if it's thinner, you can't fit a big battery and have worse cooling

      The Snapdragon NPU is the most powerful mobile NPU, by a good margin. At least until Intel Lunar Lake arrives. Despite what a certain fruit vendor might have lied about.
