That’s kind of what happened to their earlier device.

But they picked that horse and it paid off. after a year, developers who were making apps for WP was discouraged because of the wait-and-see matra, and WP started to haemorrhage. which caused Microsoft to do desperate things that ultimately led to it's end. If they make another one, it will happen again.
I remember having the original Surface Pro, and mine came with an addon that attached to the keyboard that made it wireless. I also had the slightly thicker keyboard that had a battery inside it for an extra charge of the Surface. I don't know why they dropped both of those ideas.
I have been regularly using a third party bluetooth keyboard for years. it's designed for and snaps on to my surface pro 7 just like the Microsoft one. doesn't have the ability to charge from the device, but I have only have to charge once in 4 to 6 months if I don't have the backlight on.

I just placed the preorder! The Flex keyboards in color are apparently "sold out." They do have black available which I'm not interested. So final price was $1349 + sales tax for the Snapdragon X Elite with OLED display, Sapphire, WiFi, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD. I can slum it with my current keyboards and pens.
Looks like a very nice device, but I thought we already went down this road with the Surface Pro X, with an ARM chip, and it did not do well with sales based on its OS/software compatibility limitations? Also $450 for the new Flex Keyboard with pen? Surface is worth a premium, but their is not enough year around branding/awareness/marketing to try to get the same Apple Magic Keyboard premiums with the person use consumer.
The previous Snapdragon Chips were far worse though and Apples M1 Macs greatly increased software available for ARM. They also have a translator available, meaning every Software is supported, x86 software just runs less performant, but at least it runs at all (meaning less demanding programs will always work, even if it's made for x86)
I do hope the keyboard charges when connected to the tablet and the battery lasts. And that it's not just a Bluetooth keyboard with a magnet like some cheap alternatives you can get online for ~$20-30.

Yeah, the way that one bends backwards to prop up the new wireless keyboard looks iffy. I've been through too many Type Covers, which I attribute to wear and tear at the fold.
Detachable keyboard on the Surface Pro is a *great* idea. I had one of the Bluetooth adapter bars the first time they tried to implement that. It wasn't great, but the idea was solid.
Availability and pricing is the key to ARM success. Looks the best version we wanted for years both in terms of design and configurations. Would love to see how repairable it is with follow up repair videos from MSFT. I hope this really takes off. If it's available only in limited quantities like Ryzen 7000/8000 series then I'd go with a NUC instead of laptop.

For this class, price point, and especially in a supposly high end Windows device I do not want a Qualcomm chip there great for Andriod phones or tablet but it's a no on this the only major change is the OLED display option with is Limited to the Surface Pro not the Laptop at this Point get the M4 iPad Pro. Drop the price and offer intel and nvidiva chips.

My surface pro 9 just quit working, faulty product, random shut down, bad battery life, and it just won’t respond touch screen is fine (not damaged), just not doing anything on the lock screen

No way am I spending money on ARM processors running windows. I got burned way too hard by the Surface Pro X and it’s limited compatibility! Switched to Mac and have not looked back.
My Surface Pro 4 has hit 7 years, and its 0.9 GHz Core m3 is too slow to support Windows 11. Since Windows 10 reaches End of Life on October 14th, 2025, I am looking at retiring it. Finding a way to reconfigure the device as a graphics tablet seems like a good project to avoid turning it into e-waste. Hopefully, simply engaging the digitizer won't trigger "flicker gate" on the device like GIMP does.
But why so thick an heavy? I though new ARM powered Surface pro tablet will be thin and light at least as Surface pro X. Im pro 8 user, and i loved Pro 6 and 7 how they are thinner and lighter than current Pro line
