Been waiting for a video EXACTLY like this!
Finally a video comparing the CVT (as I would most likely get the CVT for daily commuting)
Raitis has always been onto of the Acura updates!!
Thanks, and keep up the great content!
You got it my friend!
Yea his video of the performance red instantly made my decision for the wife and I. TLX although a nice vehicle, currently is too much for what we currently need.
@@RaitisRides Off the record, your personal preference 6 speed manual or CVT on the 2023 Acura? Be honestly blunt.
@@obey2dmax every car enthusiast who can drive manual, prefers manual. end of story
@@dragonquake Nothing wrong that, right? To be honest everything manual so convenient nowadays. Rev Matching was really introduced probably 10 years and you can never stall on 1st gear and so on.
They should’ve kept the 8 speed DCT from the ILX. It was reliable and smooth due to the torque converter added for low speed shifting. It was different from other DCTs in that aspect. It was a good transmission and I don’t even really like DCTs in general.
They messed up with this car.
And the engine. In fact, they should have kept the ILX and just revamp the interior because it was the only thing holding it back.
i thinking they will offer the DCT next year since you can still get the ILX right now.
The ILX is on a completely different platform. This chassis and power train is shared with the Civic and would require significant re-engineering to accept a DCT. The manual is available for enthusiasts, otherwise buyers of the CVT probably won’t care (or know) too much about it. Seems like it does a good enough job of simulating gears for the average Jane or Joe who will be driving the CVT.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeees maaaaaaaan!!! On time and OnThrottle!!! Manual for me please and thank you!!! Blessings on you and Lori. Joe, for bringing us these epic reviews!!!!
Build a Type S version of the Integra with some sort of variation of the company 2.0T engine. Give it at least 260hp and offer it with the company 10spd and/or a manual and Acura will have a huge winner on its hands.
Made my purchase yesterday in Chattanooga Tennessee. What a fun car. Thank you Acura, and Joe.

It looks great in the blue paint. Personally the 6 speed manual whould be how I whould have one .

I test drove an A-spec Tech w/manual yesterday morning. It’s really good. Very sharp looking car inside and out in my opinion. Personally, if I couldn’t drive a manual the CVT probably wouldn’t be a deal-breaker, because this is a really nice car, but for me I wouldn’t buy it in anything but the manual.

I got a cvt integra and I’m happy with it. Is the car fast? Not by a long shot but it’s a fun zippy car and I don’t have to worry about missing gears and blowing up my motor (never drove a manual before)
@@davidsanderford6124 I never drove manual but I was planning on learning. Im only really concerned of blowing a motor lol, especially on a brand new car like this. Knowing me, I’ll probably still cop the CVT

Thank you for the On Throttle comparison 🤜🏾🤛🏻. I showed my sister in law your full review of the Integra( knowingly that she just got a ‘22 TLX) and now she wish she had waited 🤦🏽♂️
You are so very welcome Wilfredo!
The TLX ain't bad at all. It's more sharper looking than the Integra. The TLX has that muscle car look. Somewhat of a Japanese Dodge Charger. Your Sister made a good choice. Besides no matter what Acura you got. You can't go wrong. I own a 13' ILX with a 2.0 Vtech 186+k miles. It still holds the road fantastically.
Don’t get me wrong, she loves her car. The only grip she has is she burns a lot of gas being “on throttle” all the time 😂😂😂
@@wilfredo-teyrosalesfotos That'll do it. A heavy foot on throttle 😆. Say which trim level does she have the Aspec or Type-S TLX? The non Type-S is a turbo 4.

This is basically a Civic Si+ with a lot of nice stuff... but the CVT makes it viable for the average driver (Where 95% of its sales are going to come from). The only reason you're getting this in a manual is because the local Honda dealers are marking up the Civic Si through the roof ($5000+ over MSRP) and getting one of these in a manual isn't that much more expensive.
Hey Raiti's Rides My Favorite Acura Sends 2022 Acura Tlx Type S
Thank you for the comparison. As much as I'd love a manual again, it's just not an option for me. Sure it'd be so much fun to drive on a road like that or some Virginia twisty roads on the weekend, but the daily commuting sitting in fknnn traffic stop and go twice a day would kill every bit of fun in 1st gear, maybe occasionally hit 2nd then right back to first. etc.ugh. I don't care how light the clutch is it would still wear on these ol'bones. So thanks for the in-depth review on the automatic. :-)
Well said, some ppl can't seem to understand this.
@@sspringss2727 A lot of guys figure it's the manly thing to drive a stick, but how much fun is it when you're rarely out of 2nd gear, and half the time you're on the clutch with the car coasting in traffic? And that 1-2 shift on the 6-sp sure sounds painful.
It seems as if the cvt version of the Integra, is holding back. When you hit the throttle, and that's a zonk for me. This seem like the perfect vehicle for me to learn how to drive, a six speed with. So i'm leaning towards the six-speed version of the Integra!!
It’s just too bad you’re gonna need to shell out $36k for the privilege of learning to drive manual.
@@mrniceguy7168 that's because of society...ppl weren't really buying manuals like that. Although I'd love the manual, the wife is not a manual lover and i don't think i want to go through the stress of dealing with teaching her lol.

If you are willing to, get k tuner or Hondata to get the L15 (the engine) in the bigger boy park…

Man im right up there with ya, i can't drive stick either (but as someone who doesn't care about bringing it on the track I don't really care), and yes, he really does make the best reviews
@@King_riotvcorrect, and In a couple of months or even weeks you might be able to get Hondata carb legal tunes for this. K tuner will also be there as well in the coming months …. Can’t go wrong with either. As bad as cvts are they can be extremely sporty and fast; and the 1.5T is good…I’m speaking about the L15B7 which was used in the previous gen civic… the New L15CA is stronger and now has VTC on the intake and VTEC on the exhaust side like the k20c that is used in the new Honda/Acura products today. (Accord,RDX,fk8 type r, etc.) I can imagine how crazy it will be in the coming months and years…A lot of people 💩 on it because they hear it’s just a 1.5LT engine… the b16 and b18 were not much larger but they became legendary both stock and in the aftermarket. There is no reason why the L15 shouldn’t have a chance to show what it’s got. But congrats on your decision, I think black with the carbon spoiler dealer accessory will really make this a very unique spec.
The 2023 HRV also has good styling and is also based off the Civic platform. Hard to say if regular people are going to be interested in this car. Great job giving us a full picture like always!

Great video review. It's easy to see why these are selling out before they reach the dealerships.
Raiti, you should do more POV Camera angle! I like it. It’s more engaging as a viewer!
Considering it is a CVT , it works pretty good. I actually liked both, automatic for city driving and manual for city and sport driving.
I guess someone can always by two of them.
@@RaitisRides 🤣🤣
Thanks for the drive, Joe. Honda makes a good CVT (if there is such a thing), but I would love to see a true auto trans option over and above the CVT, preferably a DCT 7-8 speed. Apart from that, I love the looks and build of the new Integra.
I would choose the cvt just for the fact of my long commutes and how much city driving I do. It's all about needs.
Modern manuals are super easy to drive, don't sacrifice for that reason lol
I would choose ILX over Interga CVT. The only thing I like in the intagra is practicality of the liftback.
@@1Jack22 ILX is too outdated which sucks
@@SIIKAP1 Car is not a smartphone. There is nothing outdated in the actual car, only infotainment.
@@1Jack22 well that’s something. But it’s also the entire chassis and platform it’s built on that’s a decade old.
This car just makes me want an old Integra more. For the price, especially for the manual, it is just difficult to justify over a SI or type R.
I agree 100%. It also weighs 200lbs more, than the SI as well.
Import one from Japan 🇯🇵
Obviously many people in this room have never driven an 89 Integra with 118 HP. Fewer have ever driven a Type R or GSR. So to make so many comparisons cracks me up especially since EVERY Integra was a rebadged Civic from Day ONE.
@@mmeeker69 !!! exactly, and we hate to admit it but coupes don't sell. NSX is their last attempt and it even for a super/sports car it sold very poorly
@@mmeeker69
Most of the cars back then were based off the Civic, ie CRX, Prelude, Del Sol, etc. However, what separated the Integra Type-R from the rest, was that it was truly inspired by racing. The Integra was the only Honda that adopted racing DNA, while the other Civics were atill considered economy cars, with "sport" features. We really can't say the same for this new Integra.
Most definitely the manual. Great video Joe. Love the comparison with the CVT.
I'm loving the Apex blue Joe and the red interior! I've never drove a CVT, but from what I hear it night ruin the driving experience. Despite that though, it seemed like it drove pretty decently. I also do agree I would like to see some color on the infotainment system but love the digital dash!!
Great comparison and you kept it entertaining. Thanks!!
I wish it was the old DCT or a regular automatic transmission instead of the CVT. All the CVTs I've driven do not feel sporty, and this is supposed to be a sporty car...
Does anyone feel that the increased mpg with the CVT is a significant factor at all? Clearly the manual is going to be better for engagement and fun but in this day and age, any thoughts on the mpg’s?
Too underpowered in this price segment imo.
I know people will be bashing the cvt and it shouldn’t have one. I wish Acura offered the dct option from the ilx but unfortunately they didn’t do that. The obvious choice if you want to have fun behind the wheel is to drive one with the 6 speed manual. Always better to row through the gears
What if im not buying it for fun only for the looks.
Then the car would be too expensive. It's an upscale civic is so how would they add a dct when the car isn't designed for one? Quit being an idiotic fool.
@@elfishcoder7287 literally the ILX had a dct option and was similarly priced. Do some research before calling me an idiotic fool. Know your information before you comment idiot
@Ed Findlay I think or at least hope it can do better than 7.2 in more standardized testing. The Accord 1.5T CVT can do 7.3 (and 7.2 manual) and it's about 100-200 lbs heavier than the Integra. So I'm thinking an Integra could do 6.9 or 7.0 with a proper launch. A Civic Si is 100 lbs lighter and can do 6.8.
@@TheBreakfastLover right and the integra has slightly more horsepower than the accords 192 so it should be quicker by both weight and horsepower alone. I don’t get it.
I will take 1 pls. This color blue and black go so well together and I love it, it’s a beast of car also and good looking inside and out.
Jus got my 2023 Acura integra Aspec and I love it..
6 speed all the way for me Joe. Great comparison! Really enjoyable!
If I was younger I’d go for the manual. No matter how good they say their CVT might be, it’s still a CVT. 200 HP is low for this car. I had a ‘95 and ‘98 Eclipse GST that had 210 HP. C’mon Acura it’s 2022. Bring out the Type S with 250 HP. Thanks for the comparison Joe and nice job Lori! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
I’m always surprised by how slow they make these cars. My 2017 Accord Sport is 189HP and it’s a 4 cylinder CVT. I would expect an Acura to be at-least 220HP or more.
@@DecimalD_ The team found the new Si was capable of producing peak ratings of over 222 hp and 233 lb-ft at the wheels FROM R&T
@@DecimalD_ Even when they got more power, their still slow. Look at the TLX 2.0.

This is my favourite episode of Raiti's Rides so far. I'm glad you went straight into the on throttle action this time since we already saw the details of the car in the previous video.
Manual definitely looks a lot more fun and engaging than the CVT in this and that's the way I'd go.
But Joe, what did you make of the visibility out the back though? It looks a bit low with the middle headrest there and the shape of the rear windshield. I don't think the Civic's is the best either but this seems even more obscured.
Thanks Justin for the feedback. The visibility is actually not that bad.
Test drove the Apex blue today, manual. Then i drove its big brother the A-spec TLX. Both A-game Acura cars and that A-spec RDX is awesome. CVT is a bummer but if more people order the manual maybe they will put it in all trim levels and not just tech package.
CVT? Doesn't the top trim accord have a ten speed automatic in it? Why didn't they use that? Besides that part, it looks incredible. I will at least give it a test drive.
Yea idk I feel like it’s not enough power, if it had a bit more I’d be the perfect car for me but idk about that 1.5 litre engine.

You know it William!
I love it Joe and Lori and keep up the great work real talk true and I love the video lot real true 👍 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
The cvt is still not quite there, when we stop comparing the cvt to a normal transmission is the day the cvt has arrived. That interior looks great, nice video.

great review - i just got the CVT yesterday - and we now have a hurricane coming through Orlando, which means I can't drive it!!!
The Hill Country has some of the most fun roads to drive a stick.
Very Nice! very informative, Thanks brotha you're awesome!
If the Integra had a DCT and 50 more HP like Joe suggested then we would have a clear winner here. 2024? A CVT does not make sense for this car from an enthusiast's perspective. Just seems like something drastically missing in the performance category. The car however looks great inside and out though and appears to handle really well. A Type-S would sell quite well if priced right with more HP.
I could live with the CVT. I am living a CVT. I wish it was in the Integra. Had I not gotten the Civic S T. a couple of months ago. It might have been. I like the one featured here. I'm a fan of the dark interior so the ebony would be perfect for me. Of course I would prefer the manual. Until I got stuck in LA traffic. That was never going to fly with the co owner. You guys that are married and have to share things, probably know what I'm referring to. If you like the car and get it. Please enjoy. If you don't like, that's ok too. Please don't be disrespectful and bash others. Drive and let drive.
I'll take the 6 Speed Manual thank you. That CVT can kick rox.
I know how you feel!
Never mind the 2023. Check out the white OG 5d in the background. Just like my first car.
Having owned three Acura's, two being Ilx's with the Dct and k24 v tec engine, I was quite skeptical. Recently I took a cvt integra for a test drive. The fit and finish is great, looks are fine, solid platform, but I was not a big fan of the cvt and 1.5. The manual and lsd should be offered on more trims. I agree with Joe, it needs a bit more power. The ilx has more get up and go. It would have been ideal to have the detuned 2 l and their 10 speed. Even better a rebuilt 8 speed dct with the lsd. In some ways, Acura took 2 steps forward and 1 step back.
Coming from an Accord with the 1.5/CVT combo, which is actually a pretty great set up for everyday driving, i’m actually excited about the Integra with the CVT. Smaller but more cargo space is a win for me. Also, being a previous ‘15 TLX 2.4 with 8sp DCT and ‘16 VW CC with 6sp DCT owner, I didn’t have the best experience with the DCT and was in the shop twice for slipping issues with the TLX. I may be in the minority here but I’m CVT all day
My local dealer will sell me an A Spec Trim with the CVT for MSRP. Acura should offer that manual on every trim level in my opinion.
Us: we like NA Autos
Acura: no, here’s a simulated CVT.
When you go to the Acura website to pre order the Blue Color only comes with white interior? On your video the interior is black ?
First of all, a premium car company like Acura, should never put a CVT automatic in their cars. It's cheap and something you'd see on a Civic. All Acura is doing is giving the customer a cheezy appearance package and charging a lot more than a Civic.
Hi Joe. Please give us some feedback on the air conditioning. I live in Miami and I would love to know.

Should drive the old Integra, had tons more character for an enthusiast.
Joe in the CVT: It's good for a CVT, does a pretty good job, not bad
Joe in the Manual: Giggles like a kid
Need I say more?
Hey Raiti at 3:28 when you took off was this in the CVT or Manual? 🤔 I’m thinking it was the CVT since that’s the car you were in immediately after (and I think the manual exhaust sounds a bit deeper) but I’m not sure, I’m thinking it was the CVT in S gear and in sport mode.
Can someone help me figure this out? Thanks! 😁
I say it was the manual because it left two tire tracks which is the limited slip differential. Also you hear him rev it up.

The fact that people are debating whether getting a CVT vs a 6SP manual shows how out of touch people are with cars nowadays. Ask anyone who has a 24 year old kid who lives at home and doesn't drive yet.
There's no debate. The CVT is the car for soy boys that wanted an Si but can't drive a manual
Yeah, the days of young car guys are numbered, I'm afraid.
From seeing this, Acura does it best (CVT). BUT, most all cvt's 0-10 ish have a tough time getting up and going off the line. (toyota tried to correct this with the hybrid)
I'm still deciding between the Jetta GLI and the Integra
Great car for the features and discounted price
Its like the step shift cvt is causing the delay in power because the 1.5 turbo cvt from the civic with only 180 hp picks up quick but has rubber band gear hold and drone.
im definitely going to buy this car
We can keep hoping…..Type R, 2.0T, 6spd manual, 2WD/AWD option… that’s all we want
Don't know how to drive a manual yet. Definitely learn how to drive it real soon.
Great comparison. 6 speed all the way.
Thanks Gary! I totally agree with you!
The reason they put the CVT is because most people would never know. And the people who want a sportier car can option for a manual.
What does bother me is that they did have a dual clutch for the ILX and switched to a CVT. And as a person who wouldn’t buy a manual, that does bother me.
NOT a bunch of rev hang?? I just test drove the 6MT and felt the rev hang to be atrocious. You have to let off the gas a whole second before pressing in the clutch to have any semblance of a faster shift. It just adds more clutch wear as well if you keep using the clutch to get the revs down. The shifter feel and clutch feel were both great however.

You are so very right about that Ronald.
Another awesome video. August 2022. I just test-drove this exact same blue, 6-speed MT at my local dealer. I enjoyed it but was not blown away. I would've loved Joe's opinion about 6th gear and Reverse. I found that 6th gear and Reverse were dangerously close together, there wasn't much in the way of "reverse lockout" and only a little bit of "extra push right" separates the two gears. I saw some videos where Ford makes drivers pull up an o-ring and my old Mazdaspeed needed to press the whole shift knob down to get over to reverse. Until I got used to the shifter during my test drive, I kept thinking that somebody shifting to 6th gear to cruise is just gonna throw it into reverse and blow everything up.
It's a no-brainer for me: 6sp manual! Had 2 blue TSX manuals Ist & 2nd gen, and a green GSR maual. Been waiting for this Car (though all hope was gone\lost) Never liked the ILX at all (then they took the manual away) Supposed no one was buying the manual?)
I dont know what was acura thinking when made this car . They bring back an integra model + cvt it dosent make i have an ilx almost done with the lease term i dont like manual transmission but this ctv is a no for me . The should keep a 2.0 liter engine an d a dct transmition and this will be relly good car
Manual apex blue with the carbon fiber accessories is how I will go
Due to disability I can't drive a manual without trashing the gears, so I have to default to an automatic. I really don't like CVTs, but if those are my only options I have to go with *holds nose* the CVT.
I totally understand how you feel David!
Acura failed us with this 🗑.

Acura knew most enthusiasts would opt for the manual. Shame on them for making you buy the top spec model in order to get it.

I wouldn't even look at this car without the 6-speed MT.
Just as a data point. I don’t necessarily WANT to row my own gears being that I do all city driving, but this CVT transmission is 100% NOT a viable option in my opinion.
Trust me I know how you feel!
I dont see why people would buy the manual unless it'd be on the track often, but for others who plan on using a car for daily driving, such as I plan on doing, I'd choose the CVT
What's manual have to do with track driving? It's just 10x more engaging to drive than a CVT even on your daily commute. The Integra is supposed to be a fun car.
