How hard can it be... that's where it always begins.
😆
protip, you can use a dremel with a very small bit on it to recreate the perforation holes
Wow this looks great. Nicely done!
Thank you kind sir
@averagedad - thanks for this honest video! I wonder if the results would have been better if you sanded the crack filler after spreading it for a smoother look. Not bad for $50 and two hours though!
Hey Jcubed, thanks for the comment. Ya that’s a good point and likely would’ve helped it look better
Really impressive, huge improvement 👏👏👏
Thanks Claudia!
Nicely done. How did the repairs hold up?
I came for the repair, I subscribed for the jokes😂… dope stuff man
Thanks! Super excited about my next video
You had to clean the cracks from grease and body oil before applying the car doctor crack filler. That's why it's not lasting as long
Ill note that
Great video
Thanks Patriot
Why didn't you just use something larger for making the hole, or just create the holes while the stuff was still wet?
how does it hold up to cleaning?
Hey Brooke, cleaning it holds up well. Wear and tear it deteriorated some over 6 months but I was able to quickly touch it up again. May make a short following up soon
how long did it take for the car doctor stuff to dry? Looks like you didnt really use the 3m stuff.
Used the car doctor stuff the most but the 3M stuff has held up better over time
Car doc stuff probably took an 15min to dry using the heat gun some

you didn't have to sand?
I didn’t but that may help with a high grit
Are you located somewhere in Texas close to fort Worth if not could you recommend somebody to do the tears in my seats in fort Worth
I am not sorry, the point of the video was to encourage people to DIY!
How has it held up after a year?
Hey Ted, sold the car a bit ago but the crack filler did not hold up great, the adhesive filler with the seat doctors dye looked decent still.
By no means a professional repair but I’d still recommend it as a good bang for buck visual improvement. ESPECIALLY if the seat is not perforated (would probably work better for longer)
Why didn't you repair the rip with thread first?
Hey Jack, my wife actually did try that but it just tore in a new spot. I think this would’ve worked if the seats weren’t perforated
@@AverageDadChannel gotcha. Ya saw you mentioned that about the first repair attempt.
Suspected of causing cancer according to Amazon
Lmao!! This is definitely not how you repair upholstery! Leave it to the professionals!
The point of my channel is me trying to avoid paying professionals 😁
@@AverageDadChannel 😂😂😂 Took the words right out of my mouth. Well close. Mine were more like "well that would kind of take away from the entire purpose of his channel. Plus it would make for a pretty short video." How to repair leather car seats. "Don't try. Please like and subscribe!!"
That was painful to watch. A pencil to draw fake holes? Seriously ? How long is that going to last ? A day ?
…buuut you’re saying you watched it 😃
Sharpie lasted 8 months until we sold it
As an upholsterer, I would say, not long. And customers ask if I think this is a good idea. Answer: No. Forget the shortcuts, save up the money to have it done right.
