I used this and had far better results. Took my time and used a heat gun instead. After I used the filler I sanded it down to smooth and feathered the area around it. Then using the pattern provided and pressing against the paint til dried. It came out almost perfect match. I’m about to buy again and repair a different part of my car.
@@ZareefHuq lightly sanded with sand paper in my hand. Once you sand down the filler I sanded the leather around it to kinda blend them together. It helped the transition from the existing leather to the design template provided.
That is a great idea sanding it I wanted to do that but thought it would just scuff and make a mess but you said you used texture paper after great idea
@@michealjordan6754yes mix darker beige and it will dry lighter with this type of paint. Just a quick Google search. Will tell you if the type of paint you’re using will dry, darker or lighter.
I see that at this time that you made this video 3 years ago. However, I had already watched 👀 an official video by 3M on how to use this repair kit. It shows to allow the sealer and the color application to completely dry for at least 4 hours. THEN, apply the heated tool to the texture sheet to create the texture. 😊
Instead of this expensive kit that I returned because I realized what it was you can use acrylic paint Walmart has it in arts and crafts. Some have a filler you can water down acrylic jel medium or use Elmer's Glue. That is exactly what's in these kits. You can even use satin finish acrylic spray paint. After you've painted it spray it with flat clear coat to stop it from coming off. The expensive kits don't bother telling you that.
Remember folks, this kit is ok to a degree. It will be fixed, but it want be perfect. And it can depend where the cut or tare is on the vinyl, leather.

Thanks for sharing I had used heat gun i think iron may be better except laying on carpet haha. Also seems to release better when cool also heated texture paper too much in one spot paper peeled and stuck on repair so i just gave another coat of vinyl and cured worked out
Thx for sharing. Looks like at least one practice run for color and technique is required to get a quality result. Looks like it is suitable for small jobs where a world class finished repair is not the end goal. It may be worth a little more to get a kit with more technical guidance on color matching. It’s science and art just like paint matching.
I’m thinking about just using glue and backing and a good pair of tweezers and mostly get the leather to glue back to itself, but my material is all there I don’t need to fill in anything
I like this kit, but you need glasses. One could easily tell that the color match was terrible from the start. You said oh that matches really well, and the color on the video looked totally different in liquid form. I think if you had taken another look after you mixed it, you would have noticed that the liquid was much more Red than the original brown video. Thanks very much though for this video. I have to repair a Vintage kitchen chair that is black vinyl with a very small hole and this should work just fine. You did a nice job and this will help me out tremendously!
Don't waste your time with these cheap kits. I bought one of these and he never hardened with the iron tool. I ended up forcing a bunch into the hole on an arm rest and let it dry over night.. The texture paper was a waste.

do you sand it with just the paper in your hand or do you use anything to hold the sandpaper? How did you feather it?

Wool and paint: You want to mix _darker_ than the colour you're correcting. Lighter colours stand out, and also they dry into even brighter colours.
So if I had to do tan/beige you would recommend making it a darker shade? When it dries does it show lighter or darker? Thanks

Wow. Really????
NAPA kit comes with a plug in heater.
I think you need a harder surface to get the texture right. You’re doing it on padded commercial carpet
Great job and very instructive video.

Thanks for the information, good review. I have to pix a small torn spot on a creeper chair I'm restoring, this was helpful.

That adhesive is suppose to look like that. It will dry much clearer too!! It seems like when it dries, it has fibers in it.

thank you for the video!!
I’m going to try it on my quad seat! I have small 🔥 marks from a campfire! Black should be easier. Thanks!
good instructions and review🤝
That adhesive should not be that gummy. I just used this and it's more like an elmers glue consistency
Good review. Thank you.
I'm wondering if more thin layers would work for the bigger repairs.
wow I must have got the deluxe kit, it come with an electric heater tool
Good video, thanks
Appreciate the review
Definitely a skill based repair. I'm sure it can be done better, but nice demo.
I used that for a rip in the chair arm. It took a day before it dried. Just didn't work well for me.

I got dog claw dimples in my leather trim. Sadly i dont think this will help 😥
try a hair dryer, wet the dimples first, not too hot

ahhhhh i see the black is bamikg the color changing.... can you zoom in? Maybe at the end say what the product is huh!
An iron is not hot enough. Use an electric hotplate or a flame from a candle to get the metal tool hot enough
Thanks for sharing; I'm looking for a way to repair a crack in my mower seat. Do you think this will work well for that type of application?
I'm not sure, the patch seems durable but kind of thin. I wish I could give you more info.

what's with volvo ? is it on junkyard or what ? :[
I'm so disappointed in the poor quality of my interior...I'd never recommend Volvo
Will this work on convertible top?
Is this an example of how NOT to do it?
Haha yes
I feel sorry for Junior, he's going to end up in prison... whacking fools.
TOO MANY COMMERCIALS !!!!!!

Waist of time watching this
this 3M product is a disgrace,,, no one ever got a good result with it.
