Is the same for pretty much everyone. What about teams that have to play the Dodgers? Aren't the Dodgers supposed to be one of the best teams in the playoffs? The opposing teams will have to hit against the Dodgers too, be it the Padres or the Mets.

This is good experience for Shohei. It is not always one-way traffic of non-stop praises when you are a superstar, let alone being a $700 million man. Mookie has been getting it big time, not just from the media but the fans too. Many Dodgers fans even wanted to trade Mookie because of his extended slump, perhaps less so now after he started hitting again. Likewise, even Aaron Judge gets it when he hits 62 home runs in the regular season. The only difference is the Yankee fans are even more brutal and will boo him in Yankee Stadium without an ounce of hesitation if he doesn't perform in the playoffs. It comes with the territory. But, here is the point, forget about what the media and the fans have to say, Shohei will need to start hitting again if the Dodgers want to advance to the World Series especially if they want to win it all, the team needs his performance, it is that simple. I hope for his and the Dodgers' sakes he can turn it around to get out of the current slump.
I look forward to the day Shohei does interviews in English, but meanwhile Will seems to be doing a great job of translating. btw, I kept staring at Will's bobblehead microphone and thinking of FOCO, lol.
As an interpreter myself, he’s doing great but the camera needs to just focus on Ohtoni and cut the interpreter from camera view. You can’t see the people asking questions here but I noticed that on other interviews the interviewer direct his questions at the interpreter and not at Ohtoni which is not appropriate. The focus should be between Ohtoni and the interviewer and nobody else. Interpreter is just the messenger no matter how good he is, he needs to be behind the scene. Although I don’t think it’s the fault of the interpreter but the camera men’s.
@@Sunshine-pz6tsno I don’t speak Japanese. I’m not judging the interpreter I’m only observing the process. MVP's and other awards are decided strictly by regular season stats and don't include post-season stats! It's hilarious for anyone to think that Lindor has even the slightest chance!

It's only a "race" for MVP if you consider a foot race between Bartolo Colon and Elly De La Cruz to be a "race" also.
The media and MLB are so trying to over compensate for rightly praising Ohtani like crazy. There is no race.
How is this a race? It feels like it's manufactured by the NY media. Now, if it was Judge vs. Ohtani, that would be a race.
They aren't competing with each other ... different league. It's a made up competition.
