I use several of these cheap little guns for my smart repair business, I normally get 6 months to a year out of them and chuck them away. It may sound strange, but their is quite a big difference between one budget gun and another
Finally I find honest on RUclips ITS ALL ABOUT THE PAINTER!!!! If you can afford million dollar spray gun go for it but keep in mind thata not going to make you a good painter.... I use to use ONLY SATA SPRAY GUNS until I bought cheap gun for sealer it was a 150 dollars in 2014 and to be honest I was so impressed with the gun that I started spraying base and clear with the gun and 1 month later sold all my 8 SATAS in my cabinet I only use Protek 5000 for base and 4500 for clearcoat and to be honest with you this are the best spray gun that I had ever use... since then I had try all new spray guns from sata and iwata but i dont think they are any better than my cheap guns
Thank you so much for giving in an honest try. To hear you say the finish turned out flawless is amazing! I've been learning with four cheapo guns, one of which is the one you used here. I see how they do require more careful setup but this is actually beneficial to learning.
No problem at all we did this just to show cheap guns can do the job with proper setup and knowledge although it is harder and won’t last at all for the workflow we have and because of build quality but it can be done
I use Parkside gun from Lidl . Also 10 pounds. Only real issue it has is the clear coat quality. No matter what settings it has some orange peel. For small jobs of paint and primer is very good
that same gun was around a few years ago but now it seems to be improved, the fan is actually way better now. They use the same body but improve the air cap etc.
Mobihel is exactly the same as standox and spies hecker. We have a spies hecker scheme and have a list of the cross reference tinters. I would say that some of the colours have different formulas in the three brands. Believe standox are no long formulating in solvent, and the mobihel have a high pigment range of formulations for low covering colours.
yes im aware its the same as standox and can cross over but i cant agree that it has a high pigment some colours are terrible for coverage but being the budget brand of the brands it what you expect really
Tonys_Refinishing ask your supplier if they have up to date tinters. I did a newish Vauxhall on Friday, two formulas for standard shade but use a different white tinter. I mixed 100ml of both, thought it would be a good idea to compare colours. The HP formula covered in one coat, not sure the other would ever of covered. Ask your supplier to check for you. Noticed a big difference on a lot of silvers.
Doesn't wiping the panel with the tack cloth after painting affect the paint job? or does the paint dry almost instantly? i cant seem to see any smears of paint but surely the paint doesn't dry that quick. Great job by the way im glad if found your channel.
When I did this video it was at the hottest point run the summer last year mate so yeah it really does dry that fast int hay heat the booth was running around 35c at the height of summer last year , and thanks lee for watching and joining us
I bought this gun for no good reason other than it was cheap. Never thought I would find a review on it😅 It's been tossed in the can, but I did a little spraying with it
Hi Tony, I can only afford cheap guns, around £30 because I'm just a hobbyist, but that is not the problem. I don't understand why you would paint and clear coat an alloy wheel without removing the balance weights. Don't you do the inside of the wheel? Even if you don't, when you re seat the tyre it will never be balanced because of movement of the tyre and the paint you have removed and replaced so the existing weights will have to be removed breaking the seal of the paint and clear coat inviting corrosion. I would be pleased to hear your thoughts. Thanks, Mark. IMI High performance wheel and tyre fitters.
Hi mark my answer to that is honest and simple , it’s not my business here and not my call regardless of my feelings about it my hand are tied , personally I totally agree with you but it’s the bosses call not mine
Great video, I know nothing about spraying might I ask what the cloth was you were rubbing the panel down with between colour sprays? As the paint didn't look like it was smearing or rubbing off.. Sorry I'm new to this.
Great video, Tony! I have a question for you.. Can both a Volkswagen LA7W Standox solvent base (+60% of acrylic thinner) and the next 2K anti-scratch clear coat (mixing ratio: 2:1+10% of acrylic thinner) be sprayed with a H-2000 mini gun having a 0.5 mm tip? Or is it required a bigger tip? I have to do only a little spot repair. Thanks a lot!

Hello Tony, great content, probably the clearest and most informative on RUclips! I keep watching the Anglia series over and over simply because I just love watching it! Could you please tell me how many litres of 2k primer and 2k direct gloss this job used? Doors, bonnet and boot included. Also, if you don't mind, could you please tell me how many litres you would have used if you had done a full respray? i.e. interior, underside, engine bay and boot space included. Thank you in advance should you get back to me.
This is a great video for those who don't paint every day and doesn't what to spend hundredths of dollars on a professional spray gun. The job you did was very clean and a the orange peel was minimum that for shore was totally impressive. I kind of liked your final review by dumbing the gun at the trash, very wise decision indeed. Good video tony. Watching makes me realise how much I miss my crappy sealey guns 😂 I got them when I first started in the trade and to be honest once i was a competent painter I used to smash out some awesome finishes with them. But now I'm a devilbiss man through and through 😂
Yes mate one hundred percent but there is a cheaper gun I'm loving at the moment for blow ins and that's the ani r150 great bit of kit for it's price and just have it solely as an alloy gun just as the fans not as big as I'd like for doing say a blow In on a bumper
It would be good to see you do a video of plastic welding on a bumper just to show the diy guys that replacing the bumper isn't always necessary. Just a video I think would be good to see and see how others do it as there's many ways of doing
i dont do much of that tbh mate my main job is prep and paint rather than repairs ect in this new shop not that im not a strong repairer but they need my skills for paint more than anything

Hi Tony i have a similar gun 0.8 and want to spray my fiesta wing i have a 50 litre compressor. Can it be done as i have a fear of cocking up Can i use cellulose rather than 2k as doing at home. What did you use in the bottle at beginning to wash boot down. Cheers Tony
50 litre you will struggle even with a mini gun tbh mate, i used panel wipe to clean the boot down and yes you could use cellulose but with a mask you would be ok for a small job like a wing at home buddy
Graham, Sorry I have got to disagree with Tony. The size of the tank is not neccesarily the limiting factor. If the CFM or more accurately the "free air delivery" of the pump is sufficient you can spray anything with any gun. I have done literally hundreds of paint jobs using a compressor with a 50 litre tank but the pump is 14cfm with a free air delivery of something like 11cfm. It's the capacity of the pump that matters mate.
As I do with cheap brushes as they are not worth even trying to clean them. My coach painting brushes, however, are mollycoddled and in a special container.
I know this is an old video.. but I'm just starting out the hard way . Can anyone tell me how do you alter a base coat to make it closer shade to the original vehicles paint job.. my Max Mayer colour as per vehicle paint code is slightly darker.. is it just thin it with blending thinners and do a blend coat beyond the filler repair
You can’t just go off the paint code there are probabky about 5 shades of each colour the best thing is to take a part along with the paint code to a paint supplier to have it matched to the correct shade
Hi Tony here's a suggestion for the next cheapy to review... www.machinemart.co.uk/p/tg2-professional-touch-up-gun/ I use mine as a primer gun, 1.8mm tip, great for high build 2K primer. Regards. Dave
do you mean synthetic non-sand primer (primer sealer)? because I did just that today with that very gun and it sprayed really nice, i did reduce it 4:1.
@@TonysRefinishingTV I was thinking of getting the 3m PPS setup for a cheap gun or devilbiss flg5, I have a 50l compressor and only doing small parts but more waterbased paint

I sprayed all my kitchen cabinet doors with this exact spraygun................... and then threw it in the bin!
MARK FINN the wife or the spray gun?
As I do with cheap brushes as they are not worth even trying to clean them.
My coach painting brushes, however, are mollycoddled and in a special container.
I just want to know how to make fake candy paint? Can i just mix base and clearcoat?
Hi no that would be a bad idea you can buy dyes to tint clearcoat instead as a form of candy
@@TonysRefinishingTV its hard to find candy paint in my city we have only 1 panit shop and there paint was limited
Looks good to me bud
I know this is an old video.. but I'm just starting out the hard way . Can anyone tell me how do you alter a base coat to make it closer shade to the original vehicles paint job.. my Max Mayer colour as per vehicle paint code is slightly darker.. is it just thin it with blending thinners and do a blend coat beyond the filler repair
Plus it's a metallic colour... Dark blue... Great video btw
You can’t just go off the paint code there are probabky about 5 shades of each colour the best thing is to take a part along with the paint code to a paint supplier to have it matched to the correct shade
Why did you end up throwing away the spray so well and cheaply?
It won’t last next time it’ll spray worse and worse till it dies
@@TonysRefinishingTV Thank you very much for your help. So what do you think about the auarita H2000 small spray?
A good painter can make a shit gun work.
True buddy
me refiero si tienes un extractor que te mete aire en la cabina y otro que saca
Yameira Moren
Una cabina profesional tiene que tener uno para meter aire ala cabina y otro para sacarlo
This kind of gun, you can find everywhere. It lasts about one job.
yep sure does
sand blast the gun frame and/or sand and polish it-
I guess with inflation the price is now £29 🙃
The Gunman try it a couple of sec, you paint a couple min, this is a much long review, never be affraid!
never afraid to try something but i know the gun that he was using for that review and i agree with him i wouldnt have used it on that car either
yes and he through it in the garbage, but here we see what it can really do!
£26 as of May 2021
Hi Tony here's a suggestion for the next cheapy to review... www.machinemart.co.uk/p/tg2-professional-touch-up-gun/ I use mine as a primer gun, 1.8mm tip, great for high build 2K primer. Regards. Dave
omg lol hate suction guns lol and thats got a huge tip for whats supposed to be a touch up gun lol
Surprised no one has given you grief for having a vape in a flamable fume heavy environment.
So basically that gun is good if you only paint once in a while I gotcha
Hey Tony
A good spray painter can make a decent finish with any spray gun
This spray gun is junk
it defintely was junk but not any gun i cant agree there some guns have there limits even for the best sprayers
never use plastic primer on it, trust me 😂
lol well its in the bin never to be used again believe me
do you mean synthetic non-sand primer (primer sealer)? because I did just that today with that very gun and it sprayed really nice, i did reduce it 4:1.
That guns £26 now
Not much I can do about that I’m afraid
@@TonysRefinishingTV lol definately I know the videos 3 years old and price goes up, any suggestions for a DIY for a setup? Thanks
Setup?
@@TonysRefinishingTV I was thinking of getting the 3m PPS setup for a cheap gun or devilbiss flg5, I have a 50l compressor and only doing small parts but more waterbased paint
Mate and lph80 if you could stretch to that mate ?
This is a very bad gun..need a lot of effort to achieve a good finish .only a very good painter can achieve a good finish with this gun with lots of effort
2 years later - £23
You can still ger them for £10
£10 for a spray gun lololol insane how is that made so cheep
