Just finished this job. It's annoying to remove the bumper but if you aren't overthinking it the job isn't that bad. Just make sure you have the right bulbs cause i ran into an issue of having to file down a nipple to get the bulbs to connect. All closed up and my car has eyes again.
Thank you! This is so freaking annoying. I know nothing about cars, and I thought when the deer knocked my headlight out that it would be an easy fix. No pass on an inspection, so I was like “yeah I’ll just get the bulb and put it in”. NOPE! 😂😂😂 so I am now a “mechanic”, and I am going to attempt what you’ve shown in this video. Wish me luck! Haha
Thanks so much! Is there much difference w placement of the clips/screws on the 2011 compared to the ‘09? I read comments about problems w lining up the bumper to get it back on etc. well, TONS of problems w this stoopid design …for just switching out a headlight. !! ….thnx again, hopefully you’ve saved me $178 if u can believe tTHAT.
It's completely the same. I'm changing a broken headlight assembly tomorrow and have done the bulbs multiple times and come back to this video every time 🤣

Thank you Andy for this video dealing with headlight issues on my 11 Chevy Malibu.
Your welcome! Hope it works out for you 👍
At 2:52, what is the black car part that looks like a horn under the right headlight?
That’s the opening into the air box where the air filter is.

Great video, what a pain just for a headlight! haha
Ya dude seriously. I feel bad for The mechanics that say yeah no problem I’ll just pop a bulb in for you.
was the high beam bulb the same as the low beam?
Low beam is h11 and high beam is h9
After seeing this i will never buy a chevrolet.
Ya coming from a GM tech I wouldn’t recommend any GM product. 👍 buy a Toyota.
@@AndyTheXTech I am hoping to get a nice used Toyota next. Currently I am rocking an 09 Malibu with 190k miles. It's still going (like me) lol 😆
Great video, Andy!!! I cannot wait to see what riveting content you bring in the future. -creams0da
Thanks! 👍 I have many projects I’m working on. Always busy. 😁
What's high beam bulb?
The high beam bulb is an (H9 bulb)
@@AndyTheXTech thank you.
Does taking off the front bumper apply to 2012 Malibu?
If it’s the same body as this one. You can check but on the one there is no access for bulbs.
Definitely does mine is a 2012 and you have to take off the bumper
No
There are 20+ vids where the bottom of bumper isn’t removed
For the condensation in a light headlamp or a tail light assembly drill a 1/16 hole in the bottom.
