Nobody told a story in a song like Bob.

I met Bob Seger several times in his subdivision where he lives.. he would be out walking his dog and I was putting in new mailboxes in the subdivision where he lived. Him and I would sit on the back of my tailgate and I would tell him stories about my son traveling from Alaska to the bottom of South America on a motorcycle by himself and I told my son about Roll me away that Bob Seger wrote and I told Bob about my son. Great man and a nice man Bob Seger.
My dad worked 2 blocks from one of Bob's houses in Albion, Michigan. You would see Bob walking around town once in awhile. Shows you what kind of guy Bob is... Albion was called "Little Detroit" back in the 1970's because of how dangerous it is.

Brilliant writing. The line that sticks out for me is "Woke last night to the sound of thunder." This song came out in summer for me. Now it's wintertime.
Not even close,Corey. His songs were as poetic as those of Robert Frost. And that line "With Autumn Closing In" hits you like a brick through a plate glass window when you know exactly how that feels.
As a teenager back then the line "with Autumn closing in" just meant the end of summer and start of football season. Now at 64 it has a whole new meaning. Same with a lot of the lyrics to these older songs now. As a teenager I was more into the sound of the song and not so much the lyrics.
He was born in Detroit, but grew up in Ann Arbor. Native Michigander here, Bob is part of the soundtrack of my life. No greater talent and you can't convince me otherwise.

Yep. He's a home town boy. I too grew up on his music and my graduating class picked Turn the Page as our class song. Seger is summertime and road trip music.

My husband and I met when I was 14, and he was 17. This is our song. We tease about the part that says, "I used her, and she used me, but neither one cared!!". We sing that part to each other, lol. Bob Segar is the man!!!
We were in love, though. We've been married for almost 39 years. I was 17, and he was 20.

Love their music! I'm 75 yrs old, and I still play their greatest hits CD in my car. My aunt, who stayed with me for a weekend in 1982 she played my vinyl record album. I gave it to her when she went home. Love you, auntie! ❤❤❤❤

Bob Wrote some of the best songs of my lifetime, they were anthems to growing up.
Bob Seger was huge, guys. He had EIGHTEEN Top 40 Hits, putting him up there with other huge groups like Fleetwood Mac who had NINETEEN Top 40 Hits, and Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) who had TWENTY Top 40 Hits! This song never gets old, great reaction, and thanks to Siemone for sponsoring it!

Bob Seger is top shelf singer and his Silver Bullet Band is tremendous.. so many great songs..Turn the Page, Against the Wind, Main Street, Old Time Rock & Roll, Night Moves and the biggest ass kicking song of all called "Come to Poppa!" Love you bros channel.. love Corey's enthusiasm.. I've come to realize you guys are some people I could definitely get down with chilling and spinning some great tracks.. you guys "get it" and comprehend the impact of Bob Seger. Gerry Raffery Baker Street was another one from that glorious time in history when FM radio stations played killer album tracks and thought nothing of spinning an 11 minute song! It's a shame that the trash kids have to listen to today will never touch the quality we were enjoying back in the 70s!

Bob is one of the greatest to ever come out of the midwest, he makes you feel this area with his story telling and the way his uses his voice along with his excellent group of musicians on this tune and others. Great rabbit hole to go down, he is one of a kind and a certified Hall of Famer Legend.
He used to play all the local ice rinks in Michigan. Always a great show. The man can write & sing.

His Library is so deep. Great songwriter. Going through his Library, you'll recognize some of his songs. Many were in Sports, tv shows, movies, and commercials. Some others are Against the wind, Like a Rock, Hollywood Knights, Her strut, Fire down below, come to Pappa, We've got tonight, Roll me away, Old time Rock and Roll, etc. Almost 20 top 40 hits. Was inducted recently into the Rock and Roll hall of fame. A true music legend.

Part of my youth is right there in that song. In UK, not many knew of Bob Seger, but my older bros made sure I knew about everything, every musician who took their fancy, and we always watched Old Grey Whistle Test, and listened to John Peel on the radio. Wonderful times..

Thanks guys. Another great song/reaction. I wasn't a fan of Seger when younger but appreciate him now. He had lots of hits, some featured in movies, as well as telling good stories in his songs the band and back up vocalists were great. My favorite Seger song would probably be "Still the same". Another fave would be Fire Lake which featured 3 of the Eagles singing backup.
No matter how old we get as time passes us by, there are some things we never forget. This is my absolute favorite of Seger's songs. Top tier for me. :-)

One of the best concerts I have gone to. He did 4 encores and at one point was running through the stands playing a sax and being chased by security to make sure he wasn't attacked!

You are correct sir, Sam Cooke was maybe the most natural singer in all of Pop music. He had such a beautiful tone and the very slight rasp in his voice was soothing. He made singing sound so easy.
