Just bought a x740i x drive against my will. Thankfully got one with 20k miles on it for 65k; almost 30 grand off of its initial sale price when new. Only plan on keeping it a few years, and with the price we paid, once sell it will be similar to a lease. The problem was, most new gm products cost the same if not more for much less bang for buck. The new escalade was exorbitantly expensive with a list price over 120k. I stayed clear of any range rover products. I was really pushing for a lexus gx, but the exterior and interior design looked decades old and wouldn't fly with the wife unfortuanrely. I think it's worth mentioning that the x740i has the b58 motor which is directly from the supra, a vehicle made under the supervision of Toyota. With it being I believe the fourth or fifth derivative of the initial n55 engine it has hopefully improved on a lot of the things you've mentioned even though almost all bmws suffer the same issues. And to be honest, I'd rather deal with Vanos and gaskets than entire transmission like gm products. The x750i I'd stay clear of as well. V8 twin turbos from. Bmw emit so much heat and the issues you mentioned happen in almost half the time as compared with the x740i
Looking at your first pick on the video; I've owned a GM SUV for a dew years now and it has been more expensive to maintain and annoying to work on than any of the the European cars I've owned. Lexus suv’s aren’t even luxury they are just different styled toyota interiors with the same buttons.
Thanka
Agree. Like the dependability but lacking in features I like
Any opinions on the longevity of the BMW X3 x30i? B48 engine hold up well??
Yes decent for at least 5 years. The b48 and b58 engines are the most dependable cars in the lineup right now.
I had an x30i and it went over 100k without any major issue , mind you that was a 2005 .
Another great video. Awesome job!
Thanks again!
Absolutely no holding back yes bud you got a big pair 👍 👏
Yes indeed
Love the HONEST REVIEWS
Thanks
I’ve never driven a Maserati, but agree with the rest. Other than the looks l was shocked how less a quality the Range Rover is.
Thank you very much
Hello mark, thanks for another very good and interesting video.👍
Thank you very much
@@ECPP you are welcome Mark.
The velar is pure trash can. My coworker has one that’s about 5 years old. All he does is complain about his broken door handles and other electrical issues. It looks good though
That is true
wagoneer and grand wagoneer like them both not worth the money the NEW long wheel base wagoneer L grand wagoneer L has a new in line I-6 will it go 200k miles like the old 4.0 1987-2006 ? ,one needs a passenger interactive screen? plus 2nd row ent screens ? and rear passenger touch screen for ac controls ?
BMW X5 and X7 are built in South Carolina…..
I have a question what are your thoughts of leasing an M340i?
Excellent if the $$ make sense for your situation. Lease is line a rent and you never own, but at least you never deal with issues once a vehicle Is over 5 years of age
@@ECPP would have any tips for us that are looking to get into a lease that can give us an advantage for negotiations?
Question that x7 is it the m50i or the b58?
The one I was showing was a 40i which is the b58 turbo6
Bmw emit so much heat and the issues you mentioned happen in almost half the time as compared with the x740i
“Nothing short of a hurst.” 😂😂😂
Haha, thanks
what's your take on a Porsche Cayenne Turbo e-Hybrid?
Complicated, expensive, but one of the best in the segment
Alfa Stelvio did not make the list, I thought that would be battling the Maserati for top spot
Haha, true
Say something about Land cruiser diesel 5.7 litre about the real realability of suv.
Nice
Not all people buy cars to last. Biggest desire for cars to last have museums. Some people needs car to perform, for luxury, to feel great in it.
Thanks for your help and advice 🙏
What about an x5 50i?
No no no
One of favourite channels because almost try to speak truth
Also, Stay the heck away from Infiniti QX56 and BMW 328i (2013 ish years). Bad idea.
Agreed
Looking at your first pick on the video; I've owned a GM SUV for a dew years now and it has been more expensive to maintain and annoying to work on than any of the the European cars I've owned. Build quality, handling and reliability are absolute garbage. Trading it in for a Mercedes in a few months. It'll cost me less to maintain 🤣
Yes many of the GM SUVS are simply poorly built in many way.
Can recommend Genesis GV80 3.5 - great drive, no problems!
Curious......has any of luxury car companies respond to your videos? If so, what do they say?
Haha, some are loving it because for every junk video there are some great ones that I recommend as well. Publicity is always good.
@@ECPP I would think these car companies are aware that they are being out done by Toyota and Honda. They would do something about improving the quality of they vehicles.
I bet many of those vehicles would give you better protection in a crash though than anything that does not depreciate so much.
Maybe
Porsche Macan is a great suggestion!
Thanks Thomas, yes it’s one of my favorite luxury brand SUVs and for good reason, they are well made and sturdy. Cool styling too.
@@ECPP I test drove a six-cylinder. Underpowered, IMO. I'm sure the eight would give a little bit more zip!
Hey, really enjoy your videos. Fellow Canadian from Quebec. Looking to upgrade from a 2017 bmw 330 to a 2018 440i gran coupe. Getting it inspected for all common b58 issues. The car has 43,000 kms. Any tips I could use?
I’d appreciate it. Thanks!
Just be sure the services have been done above and beyond. Oil is even more critical in these than other makes. Are you looking at an extended warranty?
Didn’t think about the warranty yet , gonna see the car Monday for the first time.
If all services were done, is the extended warranty a must? We all know if something has an issue it’s usually not covered by extended warranty
@@antoniov9437 I have an extended warranty on my 530.. IT'S A MUST! All BMW maintenance is excruciatingly expensive!!
No talk about ford expedition 3.5 ecoboost...is it too bad to talk about or extra durable to be put on this list sir ....???
Asking if Audi Q3 with regular gas turbo will last?
Could you do a review of Lexus gx460? People seem to be on both extremes of the spectrum on this one.
Im sorry. I absolutely fell in love with the X7 two years ago. So i had to get it and im loving it. Hopefully it treats me well
Hopefully it’s good. Which engine?
@@ECPP 2022 xDrive40i
Wait another year or two , you won't be saying the same thing .
What are the top luxury SUVs should one consider?
Please details the best suv to run every where without problem.
Please have a look at my channel and I think you will find such a video
The 600 doesn’t denote the HP or the trim level. It refers to the torque n Newton-meters
Thanks
When their bearing down on that little Honda Civic, Escalade breaks down Civic continues on it's journey.
Haha, true to that. Thanks for watching.
@@ECPP 👍
Facts
Mark, I really wish people in government had your work ethic.
X5M, 50000 miles, $10k engine repair, talk about quality luxury SUV, come one, BMW.......
Absolutely right on that point. Cheers
Any thoughts on the Cadillac XT4?
trash
Where does the Porsche Cayenne, with V8 stand? Have you ever done a video on them?
The rear view mirror on the Escalade is bigger than my car! 🤣😂🤣
Haha
