I wish he hadn’t done it. I wish those kids and teachers had lived, I wish that he had never bought those guns, and I wish that he had just gotten the help he so desperately needed instead.. He showed SO many red flags and cries for help, and no one did anything.
We keep saying how selfish he was to commit this awful crime, and yes, it was selfish, but we ourselves tend to be so self-absorbed and preoccupied with our own lives, that we fail to truly be aware of others around us. Including those in crisis. We as a society have shown complete indifference and lack of empathy to other people’s plights until it is too late and disaster strikes.

Rejection and Depression from the society could have made him this way. And always be grateful that we could live everyday. RIP to the undeserved lost souls.
He is a symptom of a much deeper problem, for which societies and governments are responsible. He is not unique. It will happen again. It will keep happening. Some will keep pretending these are anomalies, not the ever-increasing result of malice and ignorance imposed before these kids ever think about doing something heinous.

When I was in high school a bully who had tormented many years broke my nose when he wanted to fight me and I didn’t. Later a police detective offered me to haul him to jail and press charges but I told him I couldn’t do that to him, thinking I would destroy his life. Lack of empathy towards the fellow human being and lack of insight into the gravity of the consequences of one’s actions are two root causes for much of the social problems in the world today.
