I’ve rode street bikes for over 35 years and here is what I think about that CE 04….sweet!!! I’d ride it. Back decades ago I had a Honda Passport scooter. It was a blast to ride, especially at night. Lol
That scooter is badass. I ride a ebike and I am sold on ebikes for around town.
I love your reviews, you're so chill and laid-back.
What a funky little machine! Yeah, range anxiety is the biggest #1 issue unless you have charging stations along your route. Great stuff Scott ⭐️
The batteries will be ubiquitous and swappable at fuel stations.
As long as your commute is less than 30miles one way and you mostly charge your scooter at home every night, then range anxiety really isn't an issue
One more thing…I did not purchase for a long term ride. It was purchased for local beach city riding. Don’t purchase if you wish to go a longer halls. Awesome for local driving. Seriously a wonderful experience
We live in exciting times. I feel like solid-state batteries will allow for city to city driving with fast recharge in 5 to 10 years making electric motorcycles much more appealing. Nice review! 👍
Just purchased same model color. It’s absolutely amazing. Along with my 2021 BMWRT I’ve got two very nice bikes.
How are you enjoying it? What is the max speed?
@@candyicecream1 absolutely love it. I tend to go about 65 miles on each ride. It’s an amazing ride. Purchased for short rides along the carlsbad to La Jolla California coast.
Great review. I appreciate a lot of this information. Before buying it I watch it and definitely switch to C650GT which I bought today after watching your review.
I bought the last BMW C650 GT which was available. Thank you so much.
I lived seeing the beautiful town you live in, I live Germany, lucky to have travelled there several times.
My opinion is that EV's are well suited for urban commuting. Once you got to know the vehicle and integrate it into your lifestyle you would become familiar with it, adapt, and get past the range anxiety. Having said the the range on that thing is awfully short. You would certainly have to plug it in every night. No matter what we think EV's are the future, it has been legislated in most western countries. I appreciate you reviewing them Scott. I'll hang on to my ICE vehicles thanks. I'll be dead before full adoption arrives, thank God.
I love how this thing looks and I bet is great for city rides. Would definitely consider buying one, not new tough lol, maybe in a few years.
I have one since 2months and i love it.. use it every day
The same to me. Since March 2022 until today (Aug. 23), done 7500km.
Still much fun to drive. (In spite of the uncomfy seat.)
as always, thanks for the review. that thing is pretty cool, one thing i like about scooters is the storage, would have been nice if they had some luggage accessories to showcase, picking up groceries or whatever. i have an old vespa lx150 with loads of storage including a rack mount luggage, seating with a pillion on this thing seems to be a bit more cramped than even my vespa lol
It seems you really had fun, made me Laughing Out Loud!
Interesting but expensive for what it is. City based early adopters will love them. If you had the resources you would obviously have one of these for an urban commute and an s1000rr for the weekends.
Had to check my calender, thought I was in 1984 again. Lol! All it is missing is a "turbo" sticker.
LOL! You literally made me laugh out LOUD!
Wow!!! Amazing content! Live in Wien myself. You should have 1M subs.✌️
Excellent review
Great review, I think this thing is so cool! If I lived in a busy city, definitely would consider.
Not worth it. You get tired of electric. And will go back to good old realible combustion engine.
@@MAL-Collector the good old combustion engine will be in the museum soon. As it should be already.
@@stefanschuchardt5734 nope. The electric shit engines have been on museum the last 100 years. Back then it sucked just like now. 🙆♂️
@@MAL-Collector Then why are more and more companies going electric then with their vehicles?
@@draegus0072 because they have to be. Zero emission. That stupid goal they want to achieve. It brings more harm an problem than any good. EV are useless.
nice nice, cheers V!
Strange object seen in space! Thanks for this science fictionish review!
Nice review, Scott! It shows that there seems to be still some technical devolopment required so that these vehicles can compete with combustion engines (specs and price). Regarding your video, (maybe I missed it), some information on price/specs and comparable bikes/scooters (with e-motors, and without) would have been very interesting to see.
When I last visitied China back in 2011 (in Wuhan), almost all of their small scooters were already electrified to have clean air in the cities. You didnt hear them coming, it was quite dangerous when beeing close to the roads. Now 10 years later here in Germany we still seem to have only overpriced motorcycles with e-engine available (same seems to be true for cars)....
Ja
Good job Thanks
I wonder: I live in Norway and most speed limits ( at least around Bergen where I live ) Is 70km/t. How far can I get with that speed ? Lets say in 10 degrees Celsius?
Yup, totally agree - we ride to relax & explore - who wants to worry about having enough charge to do that? Cutting adventures short & interrupting the flow :) Neat concept for the city dweller, but lots of cheaper $$ gas scooters to fill that gap. Thanks for the nice review.
Thanks for the review. I will stick with my petrol powered motorcycles here in Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Waiting on mine.
thanx4 all the reviews scott , i am thinking about buying a second bike (my first is ktm duke 890) , did you make a review about te honda nt 1100yet? im looking for somthing for longer trips , maybe a gs 1250 , i like the reviews for my decesion , sorry for the bad englisch , im from flanders near brugges ;)
Good review. I demo’d one recently. Its not a bad ride, but its absolutely not for me, and I dont think it ever will be. They are over £13,000 fully spec’d out in uk too !
Thanks for bringing this to our awareness, it's a unusual machine and the future for individual transport I guess, as it's BMW I expect it to be well built. At first it reminded me of the Sniclair C5 electric car/scooter.
Yea, once you step back and look at it for a moment, it does have that "80's vibe" to it. Never associated to the Sniclair but now I do...Thanks! 🤦♂🤣🤣🤣
Have you tried the norden 701? I think it’s out right
this bike is awesome.
Reminds me of the funky 2 wheeled contraptions that Honda experimented with over the years, except a lot more expensive to service :)
But a main advantage of e-vehicles is lack of servicing...
I will not downgrade to this from my BMW C-evolution electric scooter for the following reasons in this order:
1 - My favorite ride mode Coasting is gone. Regen is activated as soon as you touch the brakes anyway.
2 - Wind protection and design is better on the C-evolution. Spesially with the tall Puig windscreen.
3 - My C-evolution has more power and longer range.
4 - The belt drive is better protected on the C-evolution
Side note: My C-evolution is my all year daily and practical commute and saves me a lot of cash on petrol. Despite its weight is quick and nimble through traffic. My other bike is the 2021 R1250RT and is used for the longer hauls between March and October.
How do you think this could handle on a hard-packed dirt road (dry)? Have about 3km to paved road from house and curious if this would be ok. Don't need long range either so would love an electric ride.
Yea, no problem but a dirt road may get this beautiful machine dirty 😢 🤣
Appreciate how simple it is for an EV but yeah definitely more of a scooter that can do some inter-city travel in Europe, wouldn't take it out to the country or the kind of inter city distances we have in Canada. Also that seat is a head scratcher!
It's a $15K memorabilia item from the Moonraker film set. Yeah I'm not a fan to put it lightly, but I do enjoy your reviews ;)
Nice review again. Not my bike but interesting to see...
Die linke zum gruß mein lieber
Great looking machine. I'd be happy enough to run one if I stayed in a big city.
I hear your ambivalence. Thanks. That was useful. (UK)
Yea, English native speakers will notice it but non-native speakers, probably not so much. People who know me, friends and family, and especially my wife, German, she said after watching the video, "wow, you really didn't like it". Yes, she knows me well 🙄 But I as with every bike I try to stay objective and quantitative, so that I can reach a qualitative conclusion/opinion, let me just say with this bike it was very difficult not letting my emotions get in the way 😒 but emotions are very important and that is why I showed them when I reached the dealer with very little range left.
take care,
Scott
@@NothingToProve You were professional. I feel for the poor dealers having to try to sell the thing.
Scott, anything new has to be better or it’s not going to work, great job
Interesting review Scott. I'd be interested to know how long it takes to charge up to, say, 80% full capacity. Also, re. the lack of room you found with the seat - it looks as if the design would lend itself to one being able to slide the seat fore and aft. Strange that it's fixed in that position.
My question as well. It would certainly ease some the range anxiety if you knew you could "fill er up" in 10 minutes or so...
Was there not a button the race the orange plexiglass shield for more wind protection?
Nope :(
Hello Scott! Thanks for sharing another bike experience on the channel. This time a novelty, the future as they say. And it is quite like so, because it is not the present yet I’m afraid. The high price of the bike combined with all its limitations, like top speed and range, are two strong counters to the power sensations of the electric motion that is stunning, the silence, if you appreciate to go on Stealth mode, you got it. It is also very beautiful in a modern aesthetic point of view and that’s all. Ho! I was forgetting:- you’re being environmentally correct and feeling making part of the ones who make part of the solution for the preservation of the planet, doing your good citizen contribution to minimize the gas pollution. That’s an extra attribute for the owners of a BMW CE- 04. Maybe these are enough advantages to decide for buying this Scooter and with the additional factor that it is fun to ride, at least for a while. It resembles the song - Fallin’ & Flyin’ by Colin Farrell and Jeff Bridges -, where falling feels like flying, at least for a little while 😅
For this kind of machine I think I’d go for the Yamaha TMAX Tech MAX, nice and easy ✌️✌️
What's the top speed? I can't find that info on the webs.
I actually test that here: 9:15
That thing looks right out of the Cyberpunk 2077...
Love it.
REGENERATION question: Does the stop light activate automatically when in regen mode? Concerned that following drivers may get caught off guard at slowing EVs (Honda 'bump' issues in WHAM BAM TESLA CAM videos)
BMW say yes, but other guys have said no. So who's right? Don't know. I was on the bike when I was re-gening.... :)
Nice video but 480P is the max resolution?
Thank you, nope, it's 4k, so check your ISP, youtube streams according to your bandwidth.
Fantastic review as usual. I would get this beauty to enjoy around my hometown but wonder how it would perform driving it uphills. It's a mountaneous region with steep hills. Electric scooters available here "chinese" are suffering.
Looks like a Batman scooter, love it
Great review, as always! You summed it up for me when you said “I’m stressed out”. Gas tanks rule! 😎🏴
Interesting bike. What was the charge time?
Just over 4hrs for a full charge.
Another great review. Thank you.
Thumbs up from me 👍👍
At least it appears to be modern tech, not a David Cronenberg horror mash-up between a washing machine and mum’s old bicycle, unlike some electric motorcycles in the £4k - £6k segment…
From the handle bars back is a beautiful design. I love it. I just wish they didn’t go with the moped style front end. I’m looking at it from back to front like, nice nice nice eeeww.
acquistato, arriva Sabato ❤🎉
Good luck with it! Please leave us some feed back after having it for a little bit. I like to hear from actual owners.
Thanks and take care,
Scott
@@NothingToProve It will be done, thanks we hope it will go well for urban use and a few trips out of town, I bought the version with full power, with heated Alto Confort saddle windshield, and Pro package.
yeah I guess they have a place somewhere? Not for me though.
that was an intersting review, you forgot to mention the price though
Is this a tomtom review or a CE 04 review?
Neither, it's a Scott learning how to use TomTom via the BMW wheel and having range anxiety video. Next time I'll make a review of it. 😁🙄
I still want one.
Firstly, thanks for the review. An interesting e-scoot but I'm not convinced this version is the answer to replacing a petrol scoot. For sure it's the future for city riding but the lack of under seat storage is extremely poor. Some petrol scoots are offering space for up to two full face helmets or a couple of bags of shopping. The long wheelbase could prove a problem in more congested city riding where your fighting for space with other road users. I like the looks of the scoot, the electronic gadgetry looks useful and it's range wouldn't bother me so much as it can be charged every other day. Im guessing because it's a BMW the price will be eye watering as well which I'm guessing won't help sales. Overall, I can't help feel that BMW have missed a trick by not building an e-scoot that can match what a normal petrol scoot offers in their versatility. This looks like a one trick pony IMHO.
I definitely would think of getting this for commuting in town and doing errands but the lack of storage is a real bummer. Maybe they'll come up with a storage system to attach to the rear, where there's quite a bit of room.
Horses 4 courses.
@@kalel33 There actually is a lot of external storage accessories for this scooter if you try and spec one...
0-30??? Mph ? Never seen that used. So if that’s 2.6 is 60 @ 5.2 ? I guess it’s a scooter but it’s also electric so idk
I have test drive it today. For city perfect out of city too low range. Regarding sound - this is a biggest difference. The future is coming. When a owners of electric car will buy motorcycle, absence of sound will no be a dealbreaker. But cars have at low speed artificial sound and this scooter not. This is increased risk.
I would buy one for the style alone, but maybe wait until the price comes down to half what they're asking. And it's still a very limited scooter compared to petrol powered. But fantastic looking thing 👍🇦🇺
Please, make a review of Multistrada regular and PikesPeak.
I'll ride that this coming Monday!
TomTom maps is basically what’s on your iPhone.
I wish the rear wheel was better looking, some aero stuff to complete the cyberpunk look.
How do you like your new bike Scott tell us about it!!
Yea, I'll get there, it's just that there are actually bikes to ride now at dealerships with license plates on them BUT today I'm dropping off my RT at the dealer for a software update (overnight) and then I'll finish a video I'm making about it and hope to have it up next Tuesday...hope. 👍
@@NothingToProve great thanks!!!!
Hey you know the Max range then you can olny go half. And it depend on your drive.
Price?
Minimum € 11.990,-
The reason I didn't mention is because is will vary widely depending on your country.
Here in Germany it starts at 12k.
Looks like that humongous storage space could do with an extra battery in it to give the BMW scooter more than the mediocre range it has at the moment. BMW have some work to do, to make this class of electric transportation viable...
Range and speed of recharging is the dealbreaker. Ok for city use only. But riding to another city or a trip on Sunday will be a headache.
It needs a Honda 1000 Generator mounted in a saddle bag for charging when parked.
Once you learn about your EV range isn't a big deal. Like portable charging and charging stations. But yeah most EV's are for city or town commuting short trips where we use most of the gas for are vehicles
It's not a big deal going between places with charging points but going out into the country it looks awful.
What’s the price
Well, where I live it's 12-13k. Could be different where you live.
You have to be careful with the scooter slowing down on regen... if you aren't using the brakes then your brake light is not lit up.
EDIT: it turns out that i was mistaken about the brake lights and regen, I apologise for that!
Are you sure? Brake light comes on with regen in my electric car.
Na, the brake lights don't come on till you hit the brake leavers, which is not a good thing imho.
The brake lights do come on when regenerating, I own one myself.
@@NicksterS86 thanks for this info, I'm sorry I gave bad information and have updated my original comment.
@@RikkyTang :) It is also difficult to find answers on these kind of topics, so I just wanted to correct.
I'd bet good money that somewhere on the that machine is a NIU logo.
Wish bmw had middleweight bikes that were exciting
Great review. I quite like the design. The range as you say is useless as are all electric motorcycles & very expensive. Worthless too when the batteries stop holding their charge. So pretty pointless for the biking community who like to explore.
Do they make these weird concept like electric vehicles just because they know that the range is not enough for most of the potential buyers? If you can't win people over with functionality, compensate it with eye catching design (for better or worse).
Can I have a kickstarter on the beast?
🤣🤣🤣
Interesting thingy Scott…Anxiety all the way ….
NTP ……
Great review. Electric motorcycles are not for me though. Just an old dinosaur! 😂👍
Soilent green is people!
Seems like the future is here, like it or not...
In NY anything faster then 40 is consider as a motorcycle
It is a washing machine crossed with a hairdryer on wheels
So now you can be distracted by a screen on a bike as well as in a car, that's what I call progress.
Looking forward to hear your thoughts of the Tiger Sport 660!
Looks like something taken from Dredd movie
Electric vehicles just don’t have yet autonomy enough to be a serious alternative to traditional technology in general speaking. Very good video though. Thank you 🙌
sure they do - but the long range ones are very expensive. others are just expensive
It depends, In the USA? no it has a long way to go outside of California from what I have heard. But in Europe, Japan and other places ? yes it definitely has the autonomy.
@@faequeenapril6921 I think that the change will make us suffer, because our passion has nothing to do with this principles of how a two wheels machine is to be ridden but the autonomy is a critical issue for me, and the time you have to spend to recharge. It’s a totally different life. That’s what we are about to face. If this aspects and the price doesn’t get more appealing, I will get into the use of this kind of technology when it becomes and if it becomes mandatory ✌️
For the intended use, it’s perfect
No range for me
So cool....love BMW bikes and looks like they beat Tesla to a bike. Must cost a mint to fix if you drop this thing by accident.
Looks like a Honda Zoomer but redone.
Can you say CUSHMAN? Mark Richardson
Maxi scooters have long been the best motorcycles…. smooth, quiet, automatic and efficient, comfortable and room for cargo….
I’d take a Cub instead
For the price the Piaggio 1 makes more sense than that “thing”
This isn't an equivalent to a Piaggio One, it is an equivalent to a Yamaha TMax, which costs exactly the same.
Just silly, the rear end looks like they copied an old Cushman scooter…
Apparently they want you to use a backpack to carry your stuff..
for the amount of euros I think a Tmax is better everything.
It looks like a hound built from a scrapyard.....
